They didn't have labels on the paletas, but the staff was incredibly patient and kind in walking us through all the options. I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm in the area!

Always very clean, love that. Here's the thing: everything here is delicious. But it is very overpriced. But delicious. But overpriced. But conveniently located.

I've tried many chamangos, and Tocumbo's chamango is one of my favorites! It's perfect for summertime--a refreshing mango-flavored shaved ice with chamoy and lots of tamarindo candies at the bottom. They are generous with the mango, which is great. My only complaint is that the mango is never ripe and always very hard with no flavor. Despite this, it's still one of my go-to spots for chamango.

This is not one of my favorite locations. Market location is usually my go-to. I recently went to the new National City location last week & that one was good too. This location just isn't it for me. I've been there 1-2xs. Parking is shared with other businesses. Workers seem whatever about their job. What's weird is they all share the same ingredients for other locations but this location for some reason just isn't good. From the ambiance, the quality, the taste, etc. Idk what it is. But I wouldn't come back here.

We were in the area and visited this place. Their chamango is amazing. Food servings were fairly large. The food was ok, nothing amazing (like the dessert was). I think it was a tad overpriced. We got two drinks and two entrees and it was nearly $40.. One thing that really annoyed me --an employee came over and asked if we needed help. He took y brothers order and left to prepare it. A lady then came and took my order and went to prepare it. Then, the lady brought us over to pay and I mentioned adding the other food on the same ticket. She then gives me a stale face and says "you were supposed to tell him everything so only one person helps you". They move so fast to don't really understand who's helping who and I didn't realize it was such a big deal...

Whoa. Whoa. MIND BLOWN. Gansitos line the edge of the ice cream display. There are paletas, elote en vaso, tortas ahogadas, and of course, nieve. It sits across from Chicano Park and Northgate Mercado Gonzalez. The surprise was the mangoneada which is mango nieve topped with actual mango fruit and drizzled with tamarind sauce... and it's delicious. I love that they have aguas frescas available as well! I don't know if their tortas are any good but I would definitely come back to try more of their paletas. Really nostalgic for Mexico and I'm glad that places like this exist.

Great ice cream store they have a ton of selections including Mexican ice cream. They also sell smoothies and lemonade with chia it's a must try. The staff is so friendly and helpful for being my first time checking this location. Had a great experience enjoyed my beverage and soda. Recommend this location a visit before dinner hits.

First off the one star is for the nice young lady working the register I know it's not in her hands but the prices are pretty high for the quality and quantity of food is poor 5.99 for nachos that are stale and they give you like 1 ounce of cheese sauce on the side that didn't even cover less then a hand full of chips The corn in the cup was watered down and less then a 4 ounces of corn sad to say I feel I been ripped off I will not return la Michoacán is way way more better

    Spencer H.

This is a decent ice cream/paleta/fruit/torta place. The menu does have variety, but on the down side it seems that their prices are a little higher than average. The staff is friendly and they do everything pretty quickly. I got 2 scoops of ice cream for 5.25. The ice cream was not as good as I've had at other locations....I got mint chip and walnut. Both had good flavor, not too little nor too much.

I picked a place off Google but when we landed there we were not comfortable stopping to park, so we looked again and decided to check out La Puerta not realizing it was in the Gaslight District. I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present. I highly recommend you get yourself through the door at La Puerta and sit down for a meal ASAP. (We ate the food so fast I forgot to take pictures.)

The brioche bun had a donut batter with lumps of crab salad and corn mixture on top. El Festin- perfect for our party of 4 because it was a platter full of 4 Cheese quesadilla, 4 shrimp, 4 chicken slices, 1 jalapeño bacon wrap, ribeye. Flan-we should have each ordered one ourselves! Great flavors and texture, the top had ancient chocolate soil and had crispy corn nuts. Different but yummy.
