First time getting something other than Crabs and Seafood at Today's. I can say the food was pretty Good. The food had a lot of flavor, but it was a little salty. Overall I was impressed with the food and service. The Best thing is they accept EBT cards too!!!

I always come here and I refer my family here but today I bought 2 dozen female and Male crabs and 3lbs of snow legs.. I was ver disappointed once I got home cause I had to throw away about half a dozen crabs because they had some sort of Worts or hard fungus growing out of it! Ewww in all my 30 years of eating crabs I never seen this suit before I was completely grossed out!! So I moved on to the Snow Leggs and they were over cooked and too Salty smh !! I just threw them away !! Honestly this was the first time I had this problem at Today's in Oxon hill but I definitely was turned off !! And lost my appetite

Raise your hand if you go to Maryland and not eat crabs or crabcakes. I'd you raised your hand you have no idea what you are missing. It's a must. So, as I headed back to NY after the weekend I was in search of getting my hands on some blue crabs. I exited off the highway and asked some locals if they knew where i could get my hands on some crabs. They pointed me in the direction of Todays Seafood and told me I was getting good crabs with the best price. The price of crabs are out the roof. When we arrived we ordered male jumbo crabs, 1/4 lb. Crab cake with a side of wedges and fried shrimp. For those who are unaware, the male crabs are bigger and meatier than the female crabs. Thank goodness we arrived when we did because we were able to snatch the last of the jumbo crabs. After eating the crabs, I must say this was the best stop I could have taken. They were seasoned properly, and not overly salted or cooked like some restaurants. I ordered my crab cake broiled, not fried and that was one hell of a crab cake. There were lots of chunky pieces of crab meat and it was broiled to perfection, not overcooked and rubbery. The fried shrimp were crunchy and the batter stayed firm without falling off. The potato wedges were designed for a giant. They were the longest and thickest wedges I've ever had. Please don't allow your brain to go to the gutter with that comment. The wedges were also seasoned and taste great. There were other items for sale such as fish to order or cook. I also noticed we arrived at the right time because the line started to go through the door. Be mindful that the crabs have to be freshly cooked so there is a wait time. I highly recommend checking this place out for your seafood cravings. You better move fast because next time I'm in town, I'll be buying out the jumbo crabs again!

When in MD I always seek blue crabs. I sit back, get a dozen and methodically go through them. On this Sunday afternoon I found this random seafood "shack" and stopped by. This establishment sells both fresh and prepared seafood. They are bare on the minimums. A half dozen tables, fish case and counter to order at is about all there is. I ordered a dozen crabs (you have choices, male / female / mixed - the male crabs were going for about $50 for a dozen while the smaller female were going for about $46 but I am sure the prices vary depending on the market. The crabs were what I expect of MD blue crabs - steamed, placed in a paper bag and covered with Old Bay. Enough to satisfy a craving and that was good enough!

It's a lovely thing to wander through before heading in to eat just a few feet away. The setting itself doesn't feel like Washington at all. With the charming little patio and relaxed vibe, you could imagine you're in another country, and it strikes a wonderful balance between easygoing and sophisticated. Little touches go a long way for me, and they nailed them here: silverware with the lovely illusion of polished silver and elevated stemware that added an extra bit of vibe to the whole experience. The staff were wonderfully accommodating from the start: everything was still soaked from the heavy rain the night before, but they went out of their way to set us up in a lovely shaded spot so we'd stay cool and comfortable. That same care showed up in a much bigger way later, when one of our party passed out from a health issue unrelated to the meal, and the team handled it with calm, attentiveness, and real heart. Now, the food. The brunch menu hits all the classics, chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict with fun variations featuring crab and smoked fish, all the good stuff. I settled on the lobster roll, which was incredibly good, served with Old Bay fries that came out perfectly hot and crisp, exactly the way fries should always arrive, with ketchup on the side. We also tried the tuna tartare and the buffalo oysters, which were a blast: fried oysters with a blue cheese dressing and hot sauce, served in the cutest presentation in shells on smooth lake pebbles. On the drinks side, I had a "Bloody Margaret," a gin-based riff on a Bloody Mary, and it was wonderfully spicy, just the way I like it. The cocktail list overall is playful and worth exploring. Oysters are clearly one of their fortes. They focus on Virginia oysters, so it's a single variety, but they do a lot with it across a range of preparations. There's also a fun Virginia peanut-centric theme running through the menu.

It is pricey, lucky for me it was my birthday and I could simply enjoy myself. My cocktail was exquisite, forgot what it was called but reminded me of a pina colada, but not as thick. The flavor and the freshness of the Whole fried fish, with fragrant herbs, tamarind and lime dressing was good. The Parker House Rolls were fluffy, but nothing I would put on the highly recommended list. Our waiter was very kind and personable. Other than that, I'm not sure if I would come back. Most people enjoy Caribbean style restaurants that master various fish for a fraction of the price and more food. While the "more food part" may be considered low- brow, I'm sure I am saying what many are thinking.

Unfortunately, the entrees didn't live up to the rest of the experience. The crab pasta was very bland and lacked flavor. The biggest disappointment, though, was the North Shore roast beef. As someone familiar with a true North Shore roast beef, this wasn't even close--it resembled an Arby's roast beef sandwich more than the classic, thinly sliced, rare roast beef piled high on an onion roll. I'd definitely come back for the oysters and drinks, but I'd skip those two entrees.

For appetizers, I ordered the fried oyster deviled eggs, and wow... they were so good. The little fried oysters on top of the deviled eggs were such a perfect combination. Crispy, creamy, flavorful -- definitely something I would order again without hesitation. For my entrée, I had the whole grilled branzino served over a green bean and fennel salad, and let me tell you... this was hands down one of the best branzinos I've ever had. The fish was seasoned perfectly and cooked beautifully. And that green bean and fennel salad underneath? So much better than I expected. I actually considered swapping it out, and I'm so glad I didn't because it completed the dish perfectly. Every bite was delicious. I also had a cocktail called the Endless Summer -- a tequila drink with this amazing foam on top -- and it was excellent. I asked the bartender for a recommendation, and she absolutely delivered. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. I went by myself, sat at the bar, and genuinely enjoyed every minute of it. Since we had our little girl with us, she made sure her chicken tenders came out before the rest of our food without us even having to ask. It was such a thoughtful touch and definitely appreciated. She checked on us throughout the meal, but never so much that it felt overbearing. We decided to try the chef's selection of oysters, and Tiffany walked us through each one. They were absolutely delicious! I'll definitely be coming back for happy hour because I need those oysters again. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, and it was perfection. It was packed with lump crab meat and paired with crispy shoestring fries, which I absolutely loved. The only thing that wasn't my favorite was the margarita. It leaned a little sweeter than I personally prefer, but that certainly wouldn't keep me from coming back. The atmosphere was really nice, and even though we sat inside, the restaurant was busy because of the beautiful weather. We saw several people waiting for tables, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation, especially on a nice evening or over the weekend. Overall, we had a wonderful experience with great food, excellent service, and we'll definitely be back.

As an Old Town resident for the past 15 years, I've always included Hank's Oyster Bar - Alexandria in my short list of favorite restaurants when friends and family visit. Happily, we were able to book a table for five, and we had a perfectly wonderful meal there the night before the concert. We started with a dozen fresh oysters for the table - 1/2 dozen Salty Wolfe Oysters ($23), shown as Hank's own proprietary oyster from the Lower Chesapeake, Virginia, along with 1/2 dozen Chef's Selection of the freshest East Coast oysters on the half shell ($22). The five of us around the table all tucked into some of the best oysters ever. The table ordered fish and chips (Old Bay seasoned fries, Cole slaw, $24), two of us ordered oyster po'boys ($21), one had the Ceasar salad ($14; add: (3) shrimp $8, oysters $8, salmon $16, or crab cake $18), and I had the New England clam chowder with bacon ($12) and a small plate of steamed PEI mussels with grilled crostini ($21). Don't let the description mislead you - this small plate of nicely seasoned mussels was large and when coupled with the soup made a perfect meal.
