Fortunately, not too far away was Little Purity. I had walked by Little Purity many times in the past, but the crowds that would be waiting outside always dissuaded me. Finally about a year ago I went for the first time, and now whenever I go to Park Slope during the early hours Little Purity is my go to spot. Located on the corner of 7th Avenue and 12 Street, a red, eye catching awning welcomes you as you step inside. There is an old fashioned counter (with seating) to the right and booths to the left. In the middle are regular tables and chairs. The rest room is towards the back and to the left. I usually wind up going to this diner in the early morning hours so it is not very packed (ex: before 9:30am on Sundays). However, once 10am passes that's when the waiting outside begins. The staff at Little Purity is fantastic. The owners are always welcoming and chat you up just the right amount to make you feel at home while not being intrusive. Service is always on point and quick, even during their busier hours. I typically have egg-based dishes. Whether it is an omelette with cheese and veggies or eggs over easy, I have enjoyed everything I've had here. I also really appreciate the option of having a small cup of oatmeal in place of home fries. Even better? They'll provide a serving of hot sauce and home made jam at your request and you can use the jam in the oatmeal and your toast while the hot sauce is fantastic on eggs. Little Purity is the kind of third space most neighborhoods need, and I'm so glad it continues to serve the community. Check it out!

The eggs and sausage and eggs and bacon were also good and the portion is enough to make you feel satiated.

I really wanted an Oreo milkshake, but they were out of Oreos that night. I forgive you, because I'm still thinking about those biscuits weeks later, and if I go back for more biscuits, how will I ever try out ALL THE OTHER STUFF ON THE MENU? The oldest sibling, John, operates this one, and the two younger siblings, Nick and Rini, operate Little Purity. There is another brother, Alex, who helps run this diner, but I did not see him during my visit. Anyway, I stopped in here partly as a challenge to see if this diner is just as good as the other, if not better. The food I ordered, the French toast and a chocolate milkshake, are tasty and filling. However, I do feel the menu offerings at Little Purity are tastier and more eclectic. Basic diner fare is the theme here. Little Purity has a more trendier atmosphere. I do appreciate the vibe Purity Diner is going for with its old school booths and New York sports paraphernalia. That is all well and good. However, the overall feel is one that is a little more austere and stuffy. It is eat your meal, and kindly leave. At Little Purity, I could stay as long as I wish and Nick and Rini would not care one iota. The thing I do like here is it is a quieter ambiance, so after a long day it is nice to stop in, and eat something easy with some peace and quiet. I spoke to John (a really nice, lowkey, soft spoken man unlike his siblings, though that is not necessarily a bad thing), and he confirmed this. That is the vibe he is going for. The food is a little more expensive here than at Little Purity, but I can put that petty difference aside because again, it is Park Slope. You will pay in this neighborhood. And it is not like the prices are so astronomical that will break the bank. What it really boils down to is feeling welcome, valued, with good food to boot. Both have it, but I feel you have to put in some effort here if you want to walk out feeling satisfied, whereas at Little Purity, it is effortless. Good food alone will only get you so far. Second, I'm also always on the hunt for a great turkey burger and Hilltop offers grass fed turkey burger. The interior of Hilltop reminds me of an old fashioned diner that is my kind of place: cozy bar, quiet ambience, menu that offers delicious options that will satisfy any palate. I dived right in and never looked back.. this is a perfectly seasoned juicy, very important as TB can be dry, burger. The fries were plentiful and crispy. I savored every bite. I told Olive, my wonderful server, that finding a great TB is hard and I schlepped from Bay Ridge ( not a long schlep, lol) to dine here. Now, of course, I will be the one who raves about HT as I am drafting this YELP review. The other reason HT is a gem: located near 3rd Street entrance to Prospect Park.
