    The turkey salami sandwich
    Debbie N.

Hubby and I wanted sandwiches for lunch I remembered a Togos had opened a while ago so off we went. I remember Togos when I lived in Phoenix, the menu is the same. The classics and they've added some new items too. My turkey, salami, and provolone with Togo's toppings ( plus the usual toppings) was delish! The bread-yum. There is a great ratio of bread to yumminess inside. They have tables inside and a few tables outside in the shade which is where we sat and it was perfect. You can order on the kiosk inside, at the counter, or online. There were a handful of people eating there but lots of people picking up 'to go' , lol. We will return!

A year later, still a great crew working here making epic sandwiches. They added some order kiosks as well, not sure how I feel about those. They work, but misses that human touch.

The new location on Vista is open! Grew up with Togo's so we were happy to see a local one opening up and they did not disappoint. We were a party of 3, but I didn't get pics of the other sandwiches because my party devoured them. Lol Loved the specialty Philly cheese sandwich as well as the cold black forest ham and turkey. All sandwiches were made perfect to our liking by a group of fun and energetic staff. There were only a handful of customers but there is sitting inside and outside with ample parking out front. Don't forget to check in and get a coupon towards your order!

I believe the contents are supposed to go inside the sandwich.

I went to high school in the Bay Area in the late 80s. There was a Togo's in town that I went to frequently. It was the kind of place where I'd order a regular size instead of a large because they'd stack it high with meat and fixings. When I ran across the location today while running errands I was excited to have a Togo's sandwich for the first time in thirty years. I should've left the memories in the past. It was just 15min after opening. Initially I was the only person in the store. The staff is just rude AF. I was checking out the menu because it's been a while since I've ate at a Togo's. The two girls just stared at me. Finally I decided and verbalized my order to the person most in front of me. Instead of answering, the other girl to my left said she would help me and proceeded to walk to the register. I placed my order, and then the next girl took the ticket. While peering over the counter, I could finally see the fixings. I asked for her to leave off an item. She told me "I work off a ticket. Next time, tell the person at the register." This was done not in a polite FYI tone, but an "are you stupid?" tone. I got home and found a rather disappointing sandwich. Many of the contents were falling out. It had at best a light dusting of lettuce. The only reason it has any kind of thickness is due to the three 1/2" peppers holding the bread open. Just under $13 for a 9in. sandwich. Fond memories were crushed. If it was the lunch time rush, I might forgive the service. Clearly they need to remind the staff that customers keep the doors open. Lots of sandwich shops in the area. Spend your money at any place else, and you'll have a better experience.

I really wanted a panini, but decided to opt for more veggies. I got the sweet passion chicken salad becuase I like sweet things, and becuase salads out are always better than salads you make at home. I'd give it a 7/10. It was colorful and sweet and had lots of toppings. It left something to be desired though. (I had subbed blue cheese for feta). Service was fine and fairly quick for how busy it was. We are on our search for a good spot for lunch. We really love Mexican food. Carnitas is our choice…read moreof meat so we usually will order either street tacos or a meat only burrito. So we came here to try their food. I'll start with the market. The meat dept is stocked pretty good with a lot of different marinated and cooked meats. Seeing that we figured the lunch to be pretty good. I ordered 3 carnitas street tacos and my wife ordered meat only carnitas burrito. I'll be honest we have a favorite spot in Phoenix,AZ that we go to frequently when down there so our review is being compared to their food. So comparing the two here we go. This places carnitas was pretty tasteless. Just didn't have much flavor. So my wife's burrito was probably lacked the size compared to AZ. In AZ they ask you when building their burrito what you want ie. Salsa on top of the meat before they wrap it. Then ask you if you need more. If so you just tell them how many in a decent size container. Here she asked us if we wanted two. So we got our two. I don't know if that was all we were suppose to get. But my street tacos could have used at least 2 for my three tacos. But the burrito could have used 4 by itself. I went back in to get two more and I swear they we being really tight on giving out anymore. I finally received two more small containers of salsa. I was willing to pay. They declined the idea of paying and gave me two for our lunch we had paid for. Next is no seating so it's take out only. Not something we were looking for but it is what it is. So for us it's not a place we are looking for. AZ is putting a high bar to compare to but if we're laying down $20+ for two then the bar has to be closely reached. This place did not come close. I hope if the owner reads this he'll realize that a simple thing like enough salsa is simple in keeping a customer returning. Salsa is cheap if you want a return customer.

I added a slice of Swiss cheese to accompany my meat but in hindsight, I regret it as it took away from the overall taste of the sandwich. They clearly melted the Swiss somehow on the corned beef. Perhaps it was just from the hot sliced meat, microwaved (I doubt) or steamed? However, I was a bit disappointed as my sandwich came out fairly cold and by the feel of the bread I feel like it was ready well before it was brought out and sat a bit waiting for my mouth as the top bread was dry/crusty and the bottom slice was still steamy warm. I would have liked a hotter sandwich. For my side I chose the fries. Fresh and hot they would have been the bomb, however, like the sando, they were mediocre as they were past their prime. My dining partner had the grill pastrami (same price) with added Swiss cheese slice as well. The amount of meat on his sandwich looked 1/2 the weight/volume of mine. (I was glad with my choice.) Overall, I'll probably return for my craving of a good "Chicago Jewish deli" corned beef sandwich but will ask to be sure it's hot next time and I will also ask for freshly fried potatoes, or maybe I will try the potato salad or cole slaw. 3.5 stars out of 5. Figured it to be another fad restaurant that would slowly fade away (like 5 guys should..yuk!). Not really a big sandwich person most of the tme. But I still remember my first time walking into one. It was my first visit where I knew I had it all wrong! I ate there a bunch of times after, because I worked in the same strip mall. Next to Hello Deli which is located in Vista California, and Quiznos, Jersey Mike's is the best sub shop out there! So first I'll say, I haven't had Jersey Mike's in a couple of years at least, and I was delighted to realize that my points have never expired! Matter of fact, after my purchase today, I already have an upcoming reward. So let's get to the review of this particular location by Scheels. I came in on a Sunday around 2 O'Clock or so, and they were pretty busy. Most of the tables taken by eager patrons. Two girls behind the counter and one guy behind the flat top. After using the restroom to wash my hands because I've been working with chemicals (which was clean for the most part) I got in line to make my order. I only had one girl in front of me and then two more customers behind me. I don't understand everyone's angst with the amount of time that it takes. I mean they have to slice the meat and cheese, it's not like walking into 7-Eleven and grabbing one of those rat sandwiches from the bunker fridge. So yeah it took a little bit of time, But I'm not in a hurry, not like I have an appointment with the president or something today. The first girl got my order started. I ordered a giant number 13 with roast beef. She started on two customers sandwiches that were in line behind me. Yes, efficient for them, and no I didn't mind. Now I've been told I have sort of an intimidating presence. The next girl who finished assembling my sandwich was either slightly disorganized, new or maybe nervous. I had to ask her a few times for the same things on my sandwich, and it seemed like she was trying to rush me through because she got immediately to the juice and was about to button my sandwich up when I had to ask her for mayonnaise and relish. But she pulled it through and got it done, got my sandwich, took it home and ate half, and willl probably eat the other half today. I think my total time in line was maybe 10 minutes? Anyhow, the sandwich was great, I got a freebie coming up, and it was nice to have a Jersey Mike's sub after all these years. I'm sure I'll be back again sometime! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149.
