Stopped by Paisans Deli on a Thursday and was pleasantly surprised by how great everything was! First off, the food came out super quick, which was awesome because I was starving. I ordered the Papa Zena sandwich a la carte -- it was fresh, flavorful, and honestly hit the spot. The staff was really friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference, and the restaurant itself was super clean and well-kept. Also, bonus: Thursdays are Free Cake Day! Such a fun touch -- who doesn't love free cake?! Definitely recommend if you're in the area and craving a solid sandwich in a chill spot with great service. Will be back! read more

Ok so hubby got the Benny, which we both thought was gonna be eggs Benedict. But when it got to the table it was just a combo breakfast meal with no hollandaise sauce. So we were super confused. Turns out that's the name of his kid, and the chef was so kind to actually made some hollandaise for us on the fly. It was a good brekky don't get me wrong just make sure you know what you're getting. My Italian style sandwich was delightful on Dutch crust. I've eaten here a few times and the food has always been average for me. The gyro was especially very disappointing. I had Nonna's pot roast today, which was mostly good but the overwhelming horseradish made it painful to eat. I could not finish my second half. The meat was really good though. I guess I need to ask them to go easy on it next time. Very spacious inside with plenty of seating and outside seating as well. It's an order and pay at the counter establishment. Service is always good and they keep the tables very clean. However, the high chairs were very sticky and dirty - they've probably never been wiped down ever. read more

I went here a couple of weeks ago to see if they had fresh mozzarella. They did and I used it in my lasagna but I kept some of it out to eat on its own. Yum! Last week I went back to get a sandwich to take out. I didn't call ahead because it was spur of the moment. The wait was short. The service was great. The people working there are very friendly. And the sandwich was fantastic! I got the roasted eggplant. When I took my first bite I could taste each ingredient. Too often sandwiches are drowned in sauce or vinegar and oil but not this one! Best sandwich I've had in Reno! I can't wait to try more of their sandwiches. Might even head over for breakfast. read more

We had an exceptional experience on a Friday afternoon, AND IT WAS PACKED. The nurses at the hospital sent us across the street raving about both their Italian and Mexican food....what?! We opted for the reuben sandwich with fries and it was amazing. The service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. It is a tad loud,, but it is a deli, so no big deal. Clean restrooms. If you are in the area...head here. The Best Sandwich shop in the Reno/Sparks area. Why? Because they offer gluten-free bread. At this restaurant, you are given a choice of which gluten-free bread you would like. Imagine that! If you are not gluten-free then you have no idea. Yes, other shops have gluten-free bread and I can only describe the bread as not very good or often stale. But not here. The bread is outstanding. Imagine my surprise when the waitress asked what kind of Gluten-Free bread I wanted. Oh my goodness. I was overjoyed and excited. I asked her which bread she would recommend for an egg salad. She highly suggested the Rosemary Focaccia. All the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I loved looking at all the choices in the deli counter. In fact, this restaurant reminds me of the incredible Bagel shops in New York City. Yep, they are that good. I chose Rosemary Focaccia due to her recommendation. The focaccia tasted homemade and fresh. The bread is so flavorful, crusty on the outside and so tender on the inside. I got the egg salad sandwich. It was spectacular. I got it with everything except cheese. Hints of rosemary and the egg salad blended so well together. It was a huge sandwich. I can't rave about this sandwich enough. As I think about it, my mouth is watering. There is no skimping on fillings here. The sandwiches are huge. My husband had an Egg Salad sandwich on a Dutch Crunch roll. Dutch Crunch used to be my favorite bread for egg salad. But, I can honestly say, I didn't miss having this bread. He loved his sandwich as well. We got fries with our sandwiches. We asked for them to be extra crispy which is exactly what we received. The fries went well with our sandwiches. They have a large inside dining room with more tables outside. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean. Every so often someone came around to clean and wipe down the tables and floor if needed. We can't wait to go back to this restaurant. I would especially like to thank them for giving those of us who are gluten-free a choice in sandwich bread. Thank you! What a wonderful place! Great food, lots of space inside, easy to get to. My cousin took me to one of her favorite places. Now I am sad I don't live here to go often. The Chicken Caesar sandwich on crunch bread was seriously perfect! Got a side of fruit but there were so many great looking options in the deli window. Clean, authentic feel was great. It has a cafeteria vibe to it, but that is a good thing. People tend to chat and interact with guests from other tables while they are eating. The food here is AMAZING. I was working across the street at the hospital for a week and I wasn't aware of this awesomeness until I talked to one of the nurses. Her face told me everything I needed to know. And she starts telling me more. She's having them cater her wedding bc she loves the food so much. I ran over there so fast and cursed myself for not eating here every day I was in town for work. I fell in love with the meatball sub. I love meatball subs in general and she told me that it was amazing and that's all I needed to know. But I was not prepared for how awesome this was. They don't cut the sub in half or make a u-shaped cut to put the meatballs inside of the bread. They hollow out the inside of the bread and put the meatballs inside so they're encased in the bread and have no way of falling out. OH MY GAWD. WHY ISN'T EVERYONE THIS???? It was the most perfect sub with the most perfect delivery. I was in love. I came back the next day to get the beef sandwich per another nurse's recommendation and another winner. Oh man. This is my last day in town and I almost wept because I couldn't eat here again the next day. But I will be back at the end of June for a few days and I will be eating here everyday when I can. read more

I've enjoyed Paisan's so many times, in so many places, but I haven't been in the actual restaurant since they opened in the new location many years ago. As catering, Paisan's kills the game with big platters filled with stacked sandwiches, fresh salads, and of course, the infamous meatballs! As takeout, this is another ace with easy ordering, fast pick up, and consistent quality. This restaurant is more than meets the eye and I can't believe it took me so long to actually GO IN! You can see how busy they are from the street on any given day, but the frontage does not even begin to hint at the massive operation just inside the doors. The dining room is HUGE, and at lunch it's a total vibe with all sorts of groups coming together for casual lunches and business meetings. There's a long counter at the front where you place your order, behind which is a narrow windo pass that leads into the kitchen. If you look close enough you can see just how big this kitchen is and that will tell you exactly how much they do in business. I ordered the Nonna's Pot Roast sandwich on focaccia and enjoyed it quite a bit. The focaccia was the star here. It looked and tasted house made, crusty on the outside and tender inside, it really held the whole thing together. The pot roast was tender, veggies fresh, and the horseradish spread had a nice bite, but from the description I was picturing something a little different. I love pot roast sandwiches with super juicy and fall apart meat, and that's what I thought this would be, but instead it was more like a 1/2 inch thick slice of cold pot roast on the bread with the rest of the toppings mentioned, and in my opinion it could've benefitted from a bit more of the meat to balance the ratio to bread. I'd still order it again, but personally I'd love to see it as that slowly braised pot roast and jus with melty cheese because the bread they use is really good and it would soak it all up! The turkey lasagna soup was the winner though. I liked being able to add a cup to my meal as a side in the combo for around $15. They had a few soups on offer and all sounded good, and this could bring me back too! All in all, 4.5 stars for this sandwich and catering shop with good reason. They deserve all the praise and love and I'm looking forward to more meals here in the future! read more

This is a fantastic deli/eatery. They are so clean and this time of the year festive. The sandwiches are packed with meat and are so fresh. They have 3 choices of bread, roll, sourdough, and Dutch crunch. I recommend dutch crunch 100% of the time. It is soooo soft and delicious. Prices aren't bad. $16.99 for a sandwich with a drink and a side. I chose the chips and cookie, but they have different salads to choose from. They all looked good. They are very pleasant, greeting you when you walk in, and thanking you when you leave. Worth a visit. read more

My husband loves Muffulatta sandwiches so we have been here before, but last Friday we were in South Reno and decided to stop by. It was right around noon but the line was minimal. When we reached the counter to make our order we were greeted by Samayra. She was very personable and gave us excellent customer service along with a smile. Out of coincidence the order placard we got was a 'J', (for Janice, tee hee). I ordered the Tri-Tip meal with a side of their Clam Chowder. The chowder was very good, but I did get a few sandy clams, but that would not deter me from ordering it again. The sandwich was amazing! I am a carnivore from Texas and the meat accompanied by horseradish, garlic and onions made me a very happy girl. The Au Jus was scrumptious so I saved some to take home with the other half of my sandwich. My husband ordered the Muffulatta on sour dough and the caprese salad. The sandwich was great, but he would have preferred the focaccia bread. Next time.... The Caprese was outstanding, I know this because he let me have a bite. The prices are a little high for lunch but we justify by bringing half our sandwiches home for dinner! Paisan's is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal. See y'all next time. read more

I have no idea how I've missed this spot for so long! It seems a little out of the way and oddly located in an industrial strip mall but - SURPRISE! Wow! First of all, you would never expect how large the deli is inside - very open and plenty of well spaced tables. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table when it's ready. My husband and I both had a build-your-own sandwich, not one of their specialities, and a cup of soup. The soup today was turkey sausage lasagna - very good! Both of sandwiches were on their Dutch crunch bread which is amazing! I love Dutch crunch but have to admit that sometimes if it's too crunchy can almost cut my lips - not here! Perfect combo of soft bread but just crunchy enough on top. Sandwiches were perfect! We will most definitely be making Paison's our go-to sandwich destination! read more

I have to say, we weren't sure what to expect when we walked in, but it was a really nice place. I ordered the garlic tri tip, with the soup of the day, and my wife ordered the meatball sub with fries. She had Dr. Pepper and I had iced tea. $18.99 for a sandwich seemed high, but we could have easily shared a sandwich. The Toscano soup was really good, very flavorful. The sandwiches were excellent, and the fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. We could only eat half of our sandwiches and took the rest home. Service was very quick, and the staff was very pleasant. All in all, it was a great meal and we'll be back. read more

WOW, just maybe the very best meatball sandwich ever! I have driven past this place dozens of times over the past 9 years. I moved to Truckee (from Lake Arrowhead) 9 years ago and have been very frustrated with finding a great "semi-fast food" diner kind of place. Someplace where I can spend $20 and have a spectacular sandwich. I think I may have found it today. I have ordered a meatball sandwich dozens of times, at dozens of places, and I do pretty well making my own at home (well, my meatballs are pretty great, as is my gravy). This joint does something that I have never experianced at any sandwich restaurant. They use a long pocket bread for their meatball sandwich - everything - meatballs (yummy!), sauce, (more yummy) and cheese are all neatly arranged in a long end-opening long roll of bread. The elbows deep mess of a great meatball sandwich is solved by the long roll of bread that they use. Why haven't I found this before??!! And the bread is fantastic. Very chewy french bread that stands up to the abundant sauce, meatballs, and cheese. Start to finish the bread stays intact (barely) and there is no need to go to a coin-operated car wash to clean up afterward. Fabulous chewy Italian/French roll, delicious meatballs, great sauce (augmented today with a packet of crushed red peppers - not everyone loves a spicey meatball!), and just the right amount of cheese. Oh, it still required 4 or 5 napkins, but not a steam jet-wash afterward. My gawd, it was soooo good, I gotta go back a few dozen times to be sure. I live up the hill in Truckee and I hafta say that the best meatball sandwich in Truckee is in Reno, at Paisan's. OMG!! read more

This was my first time in this casual dining restaurant and it was great. We had previously ordered takeout from here in 2020 during Covid and never visited. We had a work lunch here and they easily accommodated 15+ people for us even during their busy lunch hour. Everything was made beautifully and service was great. It's counter service, very spacious inside and has a nice patio. They offer cocktails which make it more of a dining experience even though it's counter service. It offers the regular selections you expect from a deli but in addition to that they offer Mexican food. I had the Nonna's pot roast sandwich and it was delicious with tender beef and horseradish. I selected the Dutch crunch bread and it was perfect combo. The fresh salads are huge and look amazing. Can't wait to return and try their Mexican food! read more

What a nice find. We liked it so much that we just had to go back before we left. We ordered the Meatball sandwich and a TriTip salad. The sangawich was very different and very good. I think the cook the meatballs and then stuff a load of bread which they later bake. It was very tasty. The salad was big, and the meat was flavorful. The next visit I ordered the gyro plate. Again, really good. The place was always full. The service was good. The place was clean and huge. Plenty of tables and seats. Parking may be an issue during the middle of the rush.
