Fabulous salon, especially Mete and Koray who've been my "beauty team" for the past ten years. In fact, I've followed them from White Plains (where they worked for a number of years) to Toka in Manhattan. As I'm always telling Mete, I will not let anybody else touch my hair. I always get tons of compliments on my style and color. (My nickname for Mete is "Mete the Magician!) Koray is amazing at shaping eyebrows and removing other facial hair using the threading method. Mask is provided and makes you feel safe to get hair cut during quarentine. It's appointment only with social distancing. I went there due to my hair stylist, Jiset. She is amazing as usual. Her dry hair cut techniqhe is like a magic. I have frizzy, wavy hair that is VERY difficult to manage, cut and make it look good. I went around so many hair stylist all over NYC to find the one who can make me look really pretty. I finally found Jiset and I am with her since! I want my hair look good with wash and go after her hair cut, Jiset always gives me easy to care and maintenance hair cut. I showed her the photo of the style I wanted which is different from my regular cut. Now my hair look like an actress on the photo! If you want to present yourself a professional and want to feel confidence and sexy, I feel no longer having bushy frezzy hair looks like just wake up from bed and I don't have 3 hours to do my hair everyday before my work. While I miss Yann Varin, it's the people that count, and I am glad they are still together and that their exemplary work is as available as ever, despite the disruptions. The place was posh and the staff were friendly. However, I'm just not satisfied with my haircut. $125 is not a small amount to pay for just trimming my short hair. I even showed a photo of the haircut that I want but it was not achieved. the stylist did not even consider touching my side burns, and I had to guide him just to make them balanced. I followed my colorist Amparo (for simple foil highlights) here in NYC (UES) years ago because she was quick and usually did a natural looking job; however, too many times she made noticeable gaps and obvious horizontal lines so after they hiked the price (for a partial) to $148 I stopped going. I had bad luck elsewhere so (like when you go back to a boyfriend and realize why you broke up in the first place) I returned.....BIG MISTAKE! She decided to add color (which I did not want or ask for) which irritated my skin within seconds - she blew off my complaints announcing to anyone within reach that I was "SO extremely sensitive" and I could barely stand 10 minutes. She nearly poked me in the eye with the pointed end of her comb, splattered the (toxic) dye close to my eyes and yanked and pulled my hair. After the shampoo (I dry my own hair) I could see brown all around my hairline (which itched and was making my skin red) and my scalp was very itchy - I could see brown spots through the hair so they washed my hair again, exclaiming how red and irritated my scalp looked! (wonder why?!) The gal who shampooed accepted my $5, Amparo refused my $20 (usually I pay 20% of the overpriced service) and I told the owner why I was not going to pay. OK....DONE....do not need poisonous toxic chemicals anywhere near my skin! I prefer to let some natural grays come into my dark blonde hair, if I can only find someone to just give me a few streaks. read more

Nuri is a master with very curly hair and colour. After frustrating experiences at many of the salons in the city who specialise in curls I found Nuri by chance.
