    Fried Oxtail Plate
    Yvette M.

We were in the mood for fried oxtail and remembered how delicious it was here. I love Indonesian food and it had been quite some time since we've eaten here. The dining area is small, so we always order takeout. Just make sure to call 25-30 minutes ahead. Prices have definitely increased. The Oxtail plate comes with a scoop of rice and now costs $27. Service is always friendly and the Oxtail was absolutely delicious. This spot is located in a strip mall on a busy corner near the 91 freeway. It ca

Parking lot is shared. It's hard to find an actual parking spot in the parking lot, but if you happen to see one, I wouldn't recommend taking it, unless you have a lot of patience and don't mind tight spaces. I just like to park on the street. There are many businesses in this small plaza and limited parking. Not to mention it's on a very busy street. When I entered there were a couple of people ahead of me waiting for their orders and only one person working. She was in the kitchen and no one was in the front, so we were all just waiting there, however, shortly after another worker came in. I didn't mind waiting ... they might have just been short staffed for that day ... but that was my experience. We always get: 1. Sate Ayam Lontong 2. Es Cendol 3. Lemper Ayam This place gets alot of orders because the two people ahead of me were picking up their orders and then they received another phone order while I was waiting in line, but no one was dining inside. My family and I have been coming here for years. It's hard to find good Indonesian food and we like the food here. It's probably one of the better Indonesian restaurants we've experienced.

This is one of the oldest Indonesian restaurant in LA county area. Some places opened then eventually closed. This one survived by changing ownership few times. Also, this one is a Halal restaurant. So for our muslim friend, pork free and Indonesian cuisine. Yummy. Still remember the menu has extensive list. They still do today. They also have limited item for lunch special. Smaller portion. Service usually slow. I came on weekday lunch time. The lady just getting ready. One person doing both front and kitchen. Ambiance still the same from 20+ years ago. Few small dining tables inside located in the plaza at the corner. Rather hard to enter from freeway if there is traffic. Ordered Nasi Kuning. Everything hit the spot. Their rendang is the sweet and darker black color instead of brownish. They charge 2% for Credit Card Transaction. A good Indonesian restaurant choices if you are around the area.

I definitely expected way more for this place. It was just ok. Nothing extra special for me. I ordered to go though so I'm not sure if it's better if you get it there? Parking is definitely hard though. Thankfully I had someone with me. Not sure if I will be back but maybe to try something else but the ones I ordered were just ok.

I've been on a food kick lately.. wanting to try new cuisines. So I decided on this place. It's in a shopping plaza with reasonable parking. The establishment was small, mom and pop feel. The gentleman that gave me my food was very nice and funny. The food was ok.. I was looking for more seasoning and spice... I ordered the bakmi goreng. The chicken was really good! The shrimp was slightly over cooked and the noodles were a little mushy. Id try this place again

The restaurant is located in a busy area that is right by the freeway. We were able to grab the last open parking spot. The restaurant is like stepping into a home. It's small and cozy at the same time. You are warmly greeted by the owner and the food and drink are delicious. We ordered by phone and the order was ready in 15 minutes. The food was piping hot. The drink is made when we arrived to keep it fresh and cool. Make sure to bring cash otherwise there is a service charge when using a card. We ordered Pempek Palembamg Kapal Selam, Nasi Bungkus, Noodle Bihun Chicken, Gado Gado, and ES Cendol Drink. When we come back again, we will definitely order the Nasi Bungkus, ES Cendol Drink, and a new item to try out. Everything here is delicious!

Since moving out of state, it had been a few years since I physically ate at this restaurant. I missed my cendol and bakmi! This small mom and pop restaurant looked exactly as I remember it. Menu was quite extensive, but I always go to my fave, either the Lontong Toko Rame special or the noodle special. The cendol was yummy and sweet, and my childhood fave I could not miss on. It consisted of coconut milk, palm sugar, pandan jelly, and pieces of jackfruit. Went down so smoothly and easily. The bakmi was deelish- egg noodles cooked and seasoned perfectly with chicken, pork and shrimp and topped with a fried egg. The chicken sate was moist and topped with peanut sauce. The nasi rames - a sampler platter of the best is always a good go to as well. Service was great- water was always filled and extra napkins given without asking. Pay cash to avoid credit card surcharge. A questionable business has moved in two doors down from Toko Rame in this tight small strip mall. A better location would be better located near the Dutch Indo market further on the street......

Located in a plaza with plenty of parking, finding a spot was quick and hassle-free. The moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and invited to choose any available table, which made us feel comfortable right away. I ordered the Laksa, and it was easily my favorite dish of the visit. The broth was incredibly flavorful with a rich, bold taste. Portion was generous as there were a whole boiled-seasoned egg, shrimp, fish cake & tofu. I chose egg noodle among other options which are rice noodle or vermicelli. Meanwhile, my husband stayed loyal to his go-to order, Nasi Lemak, whenever we visit a Bornean or Malaysian restaurant. While he enjoyed the overall dish, he felt the fried chicken was a bit lacked of the tenderness he has experienced at other Borneo-inspired eateries. The restaurant itself is simple and straightforward. The interior features minimal décor with basic tables, chairs, and a service counter. While the clean and uncluttered setup works well, a few decorative touches could help create a warmer and more inviting atmosphere.

It's hard to find Indonesian places in the US, though luckily it's a bit more common in California. For ambiance, this is actually a place I prefer to get my food to go. It's a little busy on the weekends when I have time to go, and it's a bit of a tight squeeze inside. Think of like the inside of a gas station or 7/11 with some tables squeezed inside. Not my fave to sit in, but the food is pretty good. I've gotten the Nasi Goreng Ayam (chicken friend rice), Nasi Goreng Kambing (lamb fried rice), Risoles, and Soto Ayam Kuning. Chicken friend rice is def good, especially when you add some of the red sambal they give you (an asian spicy hot sauce), but not totally authentic with how they serve it Indonesian style. The gooeyness of the yolk mixed in the rice is part of what makes it so yummy. But still good the way they make it. Same for the lamb fried rice, but again still good. Just wish it had the over easy egg. Between the two, loved the chicken fried rice more than the lamb. The risoles could have been cooked longer, but I'm basing this off of my Oma's recipes, so maybe I'm being a little biased here. Still very good though - just a bit too wet (if that makes sense) when biting inside. The Soto Ayam Kuning was actually the best. Again, not exactly like my Oma's recipe so I'm a bit biased once again, but it was delicious in its own way. The mix of egg, vermicelli noodles, rice, friend onions, and veggies made it at least reminiscent of my Oma's recipe and it was delicious still even if it wasn't exactly like me Oma's (yes, I get that's a hard thing to reach to). Would def order again. Overall, love this place for some yummy Indonesian food to-go or via DoorDash. Ps. when I'm inside I always buy some Indonesian snacks in the "gas station side" of the restaurant like krupuk (shrimp crackers) and sambal.

Risole was delicious, the roll is soft and tastes like a chicken pot pie, it comes with this absolutely addicting orange sauce, which was my personal favorite from the ones we tried. The lemper was warm, sticky rice well made with a sort of curry chicken inside. We had more of the addicting orange sauce. The Dutch roll is beef and kale mix, reminded me of a meat pie, it was still crispy on the outside. The banana chocolate roll is exactly what you'd expect! Pretty good. My husband originally wanted to order the Char Siu Rice, but unfortunately it wasn't available on Sunday at 3 PM, so he switched to the Nasi Lemak Chicken--and it turned out to be a great choice. The portion was quite generous for a single dish. They also offer two noodle options--egg noodles or rice noodles--and I chose the egg noodles (pictured). While the ingredients and portion were excellent, the broth was not as rich and savory as I expected, especially since laksa broth usually has such a distinctive flavor. I'd still give it an 8/10 overall. One thing I really appreciated was that they offered sambal prawn as a condiment, something not commonly found at other Malaysian restaurants. I also tried the iced Teh Tarik, but it tasted a bit too watered down for my liking, so I probably wouldn't order it again. Service-wise, one staff member seemed a little overwhelmed when we arrived and didn't acknowledge us, so we seated ourselves at an available empty table. They really keep the authenticity and quality at a high level. The food is amazing and every dish we have tried has been consistently good. It can get a little pricey if you order a bunch of dishes with a group but it is completely worth it for the quality you are getting. One nice bonus is their loyalty program. If you spend over 50 dollars they give you a stamp card and once you collect ten stamps you get around 20 dollars off or a free dish. Definitely a good incentive to keep coming back. If you are looking for authentic Indonesian food in the Rosemead area I honestly do not think there is a better option than Medan Kitchen. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Our 20th wedding anniversary was spent at our true guilty pleasure: Dija Mara…read more We would have loved to get everything on the menu but honestly we get stuffed really quickly and tried to stick with the perfected dishes: Grilled Roti with Lamb Jus Curry Sea Bream Ceviche Actually we noticed the menu didn't mention "Sea Bream" anymore and just said "Local Ceviche". Did they change fish? Tasted the same basically. Still amazing as always. We also tried some new dishes: Beef Tartare Chicken Thigh Skewers Green Curry Mussels The Beef Tartare was just okay. It's the only dish I probably would not ever order again. It wasn't bad, but compared to every other banger on the menu, it's last. Something has to be last. The Chicken Thigh Skewers were AMAZING! OMG, so much flavor in the chicken but the sauce really drove it overboard. Wow. These are a must try, you won't regret it. And lastly, the Green Curry Mussels blew us away. I love mussels and always order it whenever I see it on a menu. We devoured all of the mussels (and added the $9 Roti) and even got a container to-go to save the broth, lol. Truly another banger from Dija Mara. I really appreciate that the menu changes periodically without removing the veteran dishes we continue to enjoy. Just want to mention something besides the culinary spectacles. Dija Mara's decor is every bit as memorable as its food. The artwork isn't an afterthought--it's part of the experience. The dining room manages to feel both trendy and intimate at the same time, while the graffiti-covered back wall adds a playful, street-art feel that contrasts beautifully with the polished food and cocktails. The result is a space that feels creative, unpretentious, and genuinely cool. The industrial concrete and reclaimed wood elements give it a modern edge, while the Indonesian-inspired art creates a sense of place that feels completely unique in North County. This is really our happy place and I hope it never changes.

On this last visit, we had the chance to meet the owner and chef, and they, along with the entire staff, were incredibly kind and attentive. It was my first time dining at the bar counter, and the experience was just as lovely as ever. We ordered some of our go-to favorites, but also tried a few new dishes like the beef tartare, which was fantastic. The chef's special with green mussels and spicy coconut curry both looked amazing and tasted even better. We finished with a dessert that was light and perfectly balanced between tart and sweet. As always, an incredible experience--we'll definitely be back again soon.
