Oh this place is great. I truly enjoyed it. Arrived on a Tuesday at 11am. Service was quick and food came out fast. Very good portions also. I got the hokkien Mie which really hit the spot. Price was $13.99 for lots of meat, and lots of egg noodles. Soup was very flavorful! The meat was a bit tough in some areas but can't complain much for $13.99 I'm used to eating in Westminster so this was a nice change. Parking gets pretty tough due to the nearby college. This has been one of my go-to spots in Long Beach, and often frequented during my CSULB days. I still come back for their Singapore Laksa with egg noodles, and Chicken Satay Plate with curry rice. The creamy laksa sauce is so good and warms your soul. The laksa comes with boiled eggs, tofu, shrimp, and fried garlic. A small roti prata comes with 1 roti, if you get large it comes with 2. Their mie goreng is also a yummy dish to try if you like chow mein. The peanut sauce on the satay is a must get! I wish they served more so I can dip the skewer into it. This is a really solid place for some good food! I love that they offer some unique options that I don't really see often. I highly recommend their laksa noodles if you like something with a little bit of kick, but not too overwhelming. But for me, my absolute favorite is there chicken sauté entrée that comes with rice. The chicken is perfectly cooked on that skewer and that sauce is like no other! Even my four-year-old daughter couldn't get enough of it! The sauce is a bit salty and so pairing that with the rice is perfection and balances the entire flavor of the dish. I took my mom there too, and she loved it as well. I'm excited to come back again. Service is overall pretty good too. Overall friendly but sometimes they can be shortstaffed and the place does get pretty packed on the weekends so just keep that in mind. read more

I think it might be a little difficult for me judge b/c I've been spoiled with Borneo Kalimantan and Ipoh Kopitam in Alhambra. Because I brought my dog to Long Beach, I didn't get to eat inside. Instead, I had to order take-out and eat outside. We got the Laksa with egg noodles and Hakka Mie with egg noodles. The laksa was pretty good. Wonderful satay plates! We ordered the satay plate with coconut rice, satay place and curry rice, and mie to-go! Around 25 minutes later, we picked it up and it was ready immediately. The satay is the best even in its simplicity - it's got great flavor and sauce on the side if you need a bit more. We took the chicken off the skewer just to reheat it. Sibling restaurant to Borneo in San Gabriel Valley. We came for a late lunch during the weekday which wasn't too busy. I ordered the Singapore Laksa and when asked for extra spicy, the staff old me to use the sambal on the table, which unfortunately was not that spicy and thinner consistency. Good variety of Singaporean, Indonesian, and Malaysian dishes, very fragrant! While they're not spicy to me and not advertised by the servers as spicy, someone sensitive may notice the slight heat. The Borneo plate was great with the combo of egg, chicken, Chinese sausage, and char siu pork made a great melange of tastes. The laksa noodles were also flavorful with some shrimp, fish cake, and seasoned egg all in a hearty curry broth. This was the perfect combination of ingredients that I enjoy, so I liked it a lot. It had shrimp, egg, fried tofu, corn, and fish cake. The broth was creamy and had a bit of spiciness to it as well. Went to this Indonesian place with three friends on a Thursday night around 7 PM. From the outside I wasn't expecting much space, but the inside was super cute and had a lot more tables than I thought. Only two other tables were occupied the whole time we were there, which gave it a calm and intimate vibe -- no complaints there. My friends have been here before and really like it, so I was excited to try it out. We ordered: large prata roti, chicken satay, Borneo rice plate, rendang, nasi liwet, and tropical fruit tea. Everything came out quickly and the service was friendly and fast the whole time. The prata roti was amazing. I'd 100% get it again -- the curry sauce had a solid kick without being overpowering, and it was great for dipping. The chicken satay wasn't really for me. There was a generous amount of chicken (good value!), but the sauce was dark and had a soy-based flavor that I wasn't into. I'm definitely more used to Thai-style satay, so that's just personal taste. The Borneo rice plate was overall pretty solid. The char siu was sweet and had a nice texture. The fried chicken was probably my least favorite part -- very small pieces fried super hard, so it was way too crunchy for me. The egg on the plate, though? So good. I would eat a full side of just those eggs. The rendang was another hit. If I came solo, I'd order this plate again. The beef was tender, fell apart easily, and the spice level was definitely higher than everything else we ordered. The curry rice paired really well with the beef and potatoes, balancing the spice nicely while still keeping its own flavor. The tofu was also tasty, and everything worked both separately and all together. The tropical fruit tea was refreshing -- more of a subtle passion fruit flavor, but still hit the spot. One bummer: we ordered the nasi liwet but never got it. Not sure what happened since the restaurant wasn't busy, but when we mentioned it, the staff was really accommodating and took it off the bill with no problem. By that point we'd been there about 1.5 hours and didn't want to wait longer, so it worked out. Uncle Fung is a hidden gem across the street from CSULB in Long Beach. There aren't many places available locally for tastes of Indonesia, Malysia, and Singapore. I come here for laksa if I'm craving a curry soup. It's hard to resist their roti prata, which has a flaky flatbread/pancake served with curry: it's flaky, mildly spicy, savory, and salty in a good way. I also like their satay plate, which has skewered chicken thighs served with a craveable coconut curry sauce and coconut rice (but you can get curry rice or white rice if you prefer). The satay is also available as an appetizer and you can't go wrong with it, but I enjoy it with rice! This is the only place I know in the area for food from this region. If you crave Indo/Malay/Singaporean food or, if you want to explore food from the region, then you definitely have to check it out! read more

But when we arrived at 7:30 and they close at 8:30, there were still tables. Service was just okay. Not sure if it was because we dined near closing time. 1 star dock off: we ordered two borneo rice plate to have them come out 7-8 minutes apart from each other. Another star dock off: server forgot the sauce bowl that we requested. Server brought my rendang, went to another table, went back into the kitchen for another server to come back out and deliver my rendang to me.
