Oh this place is great. I truly enjoyed it. Arrived on a Tuesday at 11am. Service was quick and food came out fast. Very good portions also. I got the hokkien Mie which really hit the spot. Price was $13.99 for lots of meat, and lots of egg noodles. Soup was very flavorful! The meat was a bit tough in some areas but can't complain much for $13.99 I'm used to eating in Westminster so this was a nice change. Parking gets pretty tough due to the nearby college. It was nonstop traffic coming into the restaurant though. Lots of pick up / to go also. Overall 4/5 stars. Good portions and bang for your buck.

This place used to be so good a few years ago and just isn't as good anymore. We ordered the Borneo rice plate and the chicken satay. Both were okay, the chicken satay had more flavor than the rice plate. The soup that comes with it is really good though! Overall I was disappointed and would not come back. Sad because this was one of my fave places for Singaporean/Malaysian/Indonesian food :(

Cute lil spot in Long Beach rhat serves up some delicious food! My favorite was the grilled meat with peanut sauce. They were great and come in a pretty good portion. The noodles soup were just ok, tastes very very bland so I had to drenched this in siracha. The servers were also really nice and recommended some great stuff! I'd definitely come back for that grill meat

This has been one of my go-to spots in Long Beach, and often frequented during my CSULB days. I still come back for their Singapore Laksa with egg noodles, and Chicken Satay Plate with curry rice. The creamy laksa sauce is so good and warms your soul. The laksa comes with boiled eggs, tofu, shrimp, and fried garlic. A small roti prata comes with 1 roti, if you get large it comes with 2. Their mie goreng is also a yummy dish to try if you like chow mein. The peanut sauce on the satay is a must get! I wish they served more so I can dip the skewer into it. Service has always been nice, and the parking lot is shared with Target and other businesses in the plaza.

Service was excellent ; soup was very tasty; (this is a summary of my previous review. I accidentally erased it.)

I love this place. Fantastic food. Good service. I have been here several times and it never disappoints. I wish I lived closer, but I think it's worth the hour (without traffic) drive.

    Singapore Laksa & Hakka Mie

3.4 stars It's my first time trying this location and I thought it was above average. I think it might be a little difficult for me judge b/c I've been spoiled with Borneo Kalimantan and Ipoh Kopitam in Alhambra. Because I brought my dog to Long Beach, I didn't get to eat inside. Instead, I had to order take-out and eat outside. We got the Laksa with egg noodles and Hakka Mie with egg noodles. The laksa was pretty good. The Hakka Mie was ok - the char siu was a little to fatty and sweet for me and mom. The egg noodles were great though. I think it's good and worth coming back for.

Good was good overall with a decent portion size. I got the Singapore Laksa which had a great flavor. Also tried the Penyet Plate as recommended by the staff. The sambal sauce that came with the dish was good, but the Cornish hen itself was on the dry side. Third dish was the Beef Rendang and this was okay as well. I've tasted better at other locations so this was subpar in comparison. What helped with the rating is the laksa and their service. Location wise, good amout of parking and seating available as well. Ambiance of the restaurant felt like a local mom and pop shop where the servers made recommendations of food, and were approachable and friendly.

Their Singapore Laksa is what I come for!! It is super good! I always add an extra marinated egg because they are so tasty just by themselves!! I lowkey wish they would sell them by the jar!! I often take my food to go and add extra seafood to it! Can't vouch for anything else because as of right now, I only have tunnel vision for the soup!

Wonderful satay plates! We ordered the satay plate with coconut rice, satay place and curry rice, and mie to-go! Around 25 minutes later, we picked it up and it was ready immediately. The satay is the best even in its simplicity - it's got great flavor and sauce on the side if you need a bit more. We took the chicken off the skewer just to reheat it. I would highly pass on the Mie and just opt for the satay! It's a small restaurant with a few casual tables inside.

Singapore Laksa- 5/5: I really enjoyed this dish and would come back to eat it again. It's one of their popular ones and I can see why. It came with lots of toppings and I liked their egg noodle. Fried Penyet Plate- 4/5: The outside of the hen was fried really crispy. It came with coconut rice which was also good and this spicy sauce to pair with the chicken. Hakka Mie- 3/5: This one was mid. Although it is the same noodle as the Laksa dish, it tastes like cup noodles with some toppings. The flavors were lacking. I'd pass on this one.

Delicious southeast Asian food! We tried several entrees including the Borneo rice plate, the laksa noodles, and the Cornish hen. Good variety of Singaporean, Indonesian, and Malaysian dishes, very fragrant! While they're not spicy to me and not advertised by the servers as spicy, someone sensitive may notice the slight heat. The Borneo plate was great with the combo of egg, chicken, Chinese sausage, and char siu pork made a great melange of tastes. The laksa noodles were also flavorful with some shrimp, fish cake, and seasoned egg all in a hearty curry broth. The penyey Cornish hen plate was a little dry but crispy chicken so use the sauce to help! It's in the same parking lot as a Target so plenty of parking.

Chicken satay with rice plate, and mostly eaten vegetable curry!

Ask the Community - Uncle Fung Borneo Eatery

Do they serve in ceramic/glass dishes and bowls or plastic? Eating hot soups in melting plastic is just not what I'm willing to spend money on when eating out...

It used to be plastic back in the day but they've since upgraded to bowls now.

Do you have loempias on the menu?

I don't remember seeing lumpia on the menu. We have been a few times but haven't ordered appetizers so I dunno. I'm pretty sure the restaurant has a menu on Yelp ?

CLOSED on Mondays! Yelp says open?

It’s closed in Santa Ana permanently. It’s open in Long Beach. I’m unsure which location you are inquiring about

Are they shut down? Here on a Saturday at 11:00 am and no signs saying it's closed.

I just ate there on the 10th. I sure hope not.

Are they open for dine in right now?

Yes, only four tables, two on each side, only one person taking order at counter

Do you have plenty of outdoor seating?

Looked like no. Only 3 tables shared tables, used by L&L also.

    Is take-out available?

    Yes, for sure!

    Are there vegetarian options :)?

They do! Vegetarian appetizers include Roti Prata and Gado-Gado. They also have items called Vegetarian Noodle and Nasi Kari Vegetarian to name a few! You can find their full menu on their website with pictures too. :)

It seems like all the main entrees on the menu are spicy. Are their dishes that are not? Asking for family members.

The Cornish hen chicken is soooo delicious and no spicy

Do they use or do any of their products contain MSG?

I'm guessing they do, because they probably would have said otherwise. Also because it's quite a common additive in most Asian cuisine.… Read more

    Do you have kwetiaw siram?

Hi Caroline, No, we do not have kwetiaw siram, but we have Char Kway Teow. Thank you

    Do you have vegan options?

    Just say no meat .

Do they cook with peanut oil?

We use vegetable oil, not peanut oil. Only two dishes contain peanuts: sate ayam and gado gado.

    Are there gluten free options?

For customers who have celiac disease or who are allergic to gluten, we do have limited options.… Read more

Can the laksa be made vegetarian?

I am told by the chef that it can be made vegetarian....I am not sure what ingredients make the broth or how much notice they need.

Do they accommodate large groups or is it too crowded for that at this point? Want to come for my birthday but my family is about 15 people :)

I would suggest to give them a call and ask. There's seating for maybe 30-40 people total.

    Do they have high chairs?

    yes

The entrees were well prepared and flavorful, with the perfect amount of spice. The pad thai was delicious, authentically drier versus saucy. Eaten with the curry it was a divine bite. The Panang curry sauce was addictive. Looking forward to trying some of the other menu items! We were greeted and helped right away and got a place in the restaurant that fit us well. We ordered the veggie spring roll, tofu soup, beef pad thai and tom yum. The veggie spring roll tasted fresh and the sauce added a nice layer of flavor. Off the bat, the portion sizes for the tom yum and pad thai were VERY generous (from my experiences with Thai restaurants). The pad thai stood out and was absolutely delicious! The service did great with helping us out and attending to our requests. The ambiance was relaxed, and where we sat in the back was cool because there was upbeat music playing loud enough to muffle the surrounding sounds but still soft enough to have conversation at our table without needing to raise our voice. Overall, I'm glad I gave S T Noodle Bar a try! I'd recommend it!

They can't even spare a container for the Murtabak, it came wrapped in foil LOL. Like not even inside a container, it was just swished around the bag wrapped in foil. On top of it, it was soggy as F. Typically, restaurants will poke holes in the container to let it "breathe" in order to keep roti crisp even if you line it with foil and if they don't know about this, idk why they're even a restaurant. The lack of knowledge on this makes it questionable. Moving onto the Roti with curry, curry was meh. Usually you get hit with an aroma of inviting spices but this one just taste like what I find in frozen aisles or prepackaged cube curry. Nothing stands out. What a let down.. on top of that, roti seems like it was frozen, not fresh and soggy. It tasted like a scallion pancake without flavor, non of that puff pastry crusty, buttery and flakey texture you'd get from real authentic places. Food quality is definitely lacking here. In addition, the portion is so small, so laughable. (Refer to pic) The chicken satay came wrapped in a white paper bag which should have been foil so that it doesn't create moisture and then dry out the chicken. Idk what's with their packaging but again, you can't even spare a container? Instead you just opt to use a ton of plastic to wrap everything. It took such a long time to unwrap everything because they wrap every single sauce container, plastic container, paper container in Saran Wrap. A bit unenvironmental. The peanut sauce that came with the satay wasn't at all delicious nor authentic. Usually I'd want a refill of that sauce, but I end up just skipping it in the end because it wasn't even all that great. Lastly the laksa was decent but nothing to write home about. I've also never really had a laksa without prawns before, this version came with weird types of tofu (one that had a purple filling which had no taste) and fried tofu wedges (which is fine). There were two fish balls. Honestly this laksa tastes just decent, definitely not a signature item in any realm. I've had better laksa in Irvine from a place not specializing in laksa. I guess as long as you don't expect it to be like Ipoh Kopitiam quality then it's OK.

I'd personally double up on the line crema and skip on the sweet and sour sauce, but that's just my preference. Their soup with chicken and mushroom is so soothing. An underrated pickup for when you're congested and don't feel like cooking, I should add. You can even order their broth in small or large portions! The portion was quite generous for a single dish. They also offer two noodle options--egg noodles or rice noodles--and I chose the egg noodles (pictured). While the ingredients and portion were excellent, the broth was not as rich and savory as I expected, especially since laksa broth usually has such a distinctive flavor. I'd still give it an 8/10 overall. One thing I really appreciated was that they offered sambal prawn as a condiment, something not commonly found at other Malaysian restaurants. I also tried the iced Teh Tarik, but it tasted a bit too watered down for my liking, so I probably wouldn't order it again. Service-wise, one staff member seemed a little overwhelmed when we arrived and didn't acknowledge us, so we seated ourselves at an available empty table. They also have a small grocery section where you can purchase authentic Malaysian dry goods. I picked up a Pandan Kaya Toast Jam.
