The guy open his mouth on me "hurry up because I'm busy and has other orders to take care". In reality that's not my problem or business and if he can't take the heat inside the store or kitchen. He should get out or not coming to work. Shouldn't give me the heat on customers period! Plus there were no customers yet and I do think completely rude! I never heard of this cafe before until my daughter saw it on the social media. They have amazing Indonesian desserts options for all of you to try. We opt to get the one with chocolate and cheese. It was perfectly sweetened and perfect for snack with coffee and tea. They also have variety of Indonesian snacks, drinks and spices you can purchase. It is suggested to order ahead before arriving at the cafe and we did just that. Friendly staff and great service. Ambiance is nice and clean. We ordered a single martabak from here a few days before pickup as we heard this was necessary. The ordering process was easy enough though it does require an "old school" phone call to place your order. Hubby really wanted to try this so he did all the work lol. We scheduled it on the day we were going to be in the area for lunch with family. Lunch got done super early and we had a lot of time to kill before our scheduled pick-up time. Hubby tried to call them (maybe about 1.5hrs earlier than our time) and tried to asked them if we could it up. They didn't seem to understand or didn't care but eventually hung up without actually haven't said anything. So we arrived 30 minutes early and hubby went in to check. The guy brusquely told him to come back in 30 minutes. I guess fair enough? Hubby dutifully trekked back in around 2:35 and waited a few minutes longer before exiting with the long-awaited goods. We had prepared for this moment so had disposable eating stuff in the car. We had ordered the chocolate, peanut and cheese (original, I would say) and the thing was RICH and huge. It was doused in butter which I guess is a hallmark of this dessert but despite all the fillings, it was not overly sweet and had a hint of a savory quality. Hubby was smitten. He had two slices in the car while I had my one. While we were parked in the shade we observed people popping in and out with orders. Some guy had at least 8! So overall, I guess I'm giving this one a 4 star because it's a fairly decent representation of an Indonesian street dessert but don't expect A-1 customer service. read more

Like previous reviews mentioned: remember to call and order ahead. I called right when they opened and was able to pick it up by the end of the day. I came back here after struggling to find more places that make and sell martabak, and came in around 4:30 pm on a Friday. I saw a sign on the door before I came in that said phone orders only, and when I walked in someone ran to the back room, and a different person came out. He asked if I had an online order, I said no, and before I could look around or ask anything else he said they were closed and I needed to leave. Very disappointing, and I drove past two hours later and the lights inside were still on, with the same car parked in the front. So no, I don't think they closed 2 hours after they open, and I'm sad that I haven't found anywhere else to get martabak. If anyone knows anywhere else, please let me know !!!! read more

If only I could give zero stars. I tried the "special martabak" for the first time, and it was like eating pure butter oil; it was also far too sweet. I ordered two of them at 11:00 AM and was told to come back and pick them up at 5:30 PM--it cost $50 .a not worth it order for a waste of my time. Paying an average of $20 for a martabak is honestly wild, especially when the flavor is nowhere near original. If you've had the real deal before, you'll be disappointed. It lacks the authentic soul and taste you'd expect for such a premium price tag. My gf has been wanting to try this place for a while now, but it's been on her list of things to try for several years now and I didn't get to try it until yesterday. She told me it's about $18 bucks, but when I got there, I told her how much it was, she was shocked (so was I). I ordered the Pandan Nutella Banana Cheese Martabak came out to $25 + $1.00 additional for Pandan. The total came out to about $28.50 including tax. From looking at other menu pictures, I see that in the past 4 years, the prices have gone up over 30%. It sucks because people's wages did not go up 30+%, while food costs have gone up so much. It's a shame. Anyway, back to the martabak review, the taste is good, I can't say I "love it", but it was good. I like cheese, but I can live without it in the one I tried--I'll keep cheese toppings to more savory dishes, and keep sweet toppings on desserts. I wish they sold single slices of it versus a whole cake of 8 slices because now I have 6 slices that most likely will be wasted, and if not wasted, it won't be as fresh when I attempt to eat the other slices later. I didn't give it a 5-star because this is my first time having it, and I haven't tried another martabak to compare. Also, if there is a next time, I'll have to order one with different toppings and more people to split it with. The location itself was organized and clean. The chef was nice and helpful. My gf told me that I should call before I go, and I didn't understand. I thought I could show up and buy a cake, but it's a good thing I called ahead. The chef told me, it's like ordering pizza, call ahead, and I'll make it. This way, you don't have to wait. Good thing my gf gave me that heads up. Chef said that on weekends, the wait goes into the hours, so it's better to order 1 to 2 hours ahead, or even the day before if you're trying to get some on the weekends. 2024 Update! The martabak here is simply amazing! It also helps a lot that it's basically the only place nearby that even sells it. I haven't been able to find any other restaurant or business that makes them. These are well-made too! It's rich, buttery, and delicious. I really need to try just their sweetcorn and cheese next time. Just as a warning, CALL YOUR ORDER IN before going. As far as I know, they don't allow walk-in orders because it does take around 15 minutes to make one depending on if they have other orders already or not. They have a large variety of combos and even if you don't find one they have, you might be able to ask for specific ones or to take out a specific one you don't like! The price is worth it. LOL While we were there, a lady was picking up 10 Martabak! Then it was our turn.. we ordered 4 Martabak (2 pandan 2 regular). Two other ladies came in after us to pick up their orders as well! Wow... still so busy at 4 pm! When we were waiting for our orders, there were a few girls came in and tried to order some Martabak to go.. only to find out that was not doable! They left... then returned to try to order again for tomorrow (sunday) but too bad.. this place close on Sunday! They were dissapointed. I told them.. that's okay.. it will be so worth it later We explained to them, they MUST order prior to the pick up day. Because they put customers on the list & no extra batter were made for walk in customers. This is good to know! It means everything is made fresh to order every day and not pre made in big batch! I placed my order a bit after 11, I was told to pick up my orders at 4 PM. So.. new customers.. don't go and think to order there for to-go.. it won't work! Stopped in for the first time. Didn't order food or drinks, but would like to soon. Their specialty is Indonesian pancakes. Came to check out the market. There's coffee, crackers, chips, tea, sauces, soups, and so much more. I grabbed a bunch of things to put together and Easter basket for my dad. Nice little spot. OMG, THIS PLACE IS BOMB.COM. If you Indonesian, there is no introduction needed. For those that are not Indonesian, it is Indonesian crepes, but with the thickness of pancake. Just imagine two juicy pancakes are together and in the middle there is sweet of your choice (I have the video showing it). Me and wife got the special (chocolate, peanut cheese) which is how most people eat Martabak in Indonesia. We also got NBC (Nutella, banana, cheese) and Nutella toblerone. You guys need to try it. If you love sweet and juicy sweet, THIS IS THE ONE BABY! For ordering, they suggest TO CALL AHEAD! Sometimes that got so busy that everything will be ready in 1 - 2 hours. So if you know you can be in the store between those hours, make the phone call. They close at 7 PM, so please call before 5 PM (evening pickup) or call around noon (afternoon pickup). There will be time they run out of dough and sweet to make martabak because they make a lot, so call as soon as you can. Also THEY CLOSE FROM SUNDAY - TUESDAY. If you want the drinks, definitely come earlier. Me and my wife came to pick up the martabak at 6ish and they do not have the ingredients to make the drink anymore lol so come as early as you can if you want the drinks also The product in the store have really good prices. I am from Arizona and some of the product (like sambal) are cheaper there, which is surprising. They have kerupuk, sweets, and snacks from Indonesia also with good prices. There are a few tables outside under their shaded porch that can sit 2-4 per table. Ovomaltine, Nuts, & Cheese Martabak (5/5) I'd dock a star for the wait time, but patience is truly a virtue here. This was love at first bite. Crispy edges, chewy interior reminiscent of banh bo nuong, a generous filling of sweet Ovomaltine, crunchy peanuts, & salty cheese, all cooked in rich butter. Before I knew it, I was sitting in my car, alone, baking in the summer sun because my hands were dripping in butter and I was too cheap to turn my car on. Thank God for my tint, else passersby witness me sweating bullets while I devoured FIVE slices on my own. This is my first martabak so I don't have anything to compare it to, and I don't need to. I've found my favorite desert in the world. I'll request this for my birthday, my last meal, my wedding, my kids' birthdays... I don't even have kids. Total came around to $23. I couldn't taste the Pandan at all and the chocolate tasted like any regular melted chocolate. The peanuts gave a slight crunch and I could barely taste the cheese. You get eight generously sized pieces of Martabak for $17.95 +tax. It's pricey, but worth it in my opinion since it's not something you can easily find around California and it takes a lot of work to make those honeycomb textures. I loved the slightly sweet and salty taste of the Martabak! The honeycomb cake layers are chewy and soaked with syrup and oil. It sounds disgusting, but I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it! This is a heavy and decadent dessert. My hubby and I shared a piece and didn't even finish. I recommend eating it fresh when you get it or reheat the leftovers. Eating it cold or room temperature does not bring out all of the delicious flavors.
