I must say I was impressed... Even since the horrific experience I've had at TAO i've been extremely skeptical about Asian fusion, budda-statue-in-the-room restaurants. TOKU to me, overall, is a Cheaper, and better version of TAO. From the Decor to the Menu option, it's not a secret that they were trying to create a TAO atmosphere out here in Long Island. The good news is, it worked! Service- 2.5 stars. We had a really clueless server that wouldn't even pour us water or respond to us. Probably a newbie. I think we just got unlucky Food- 4.5 stars- Wow I was so impressed with the food. A few of my recommendations are: 1) ( Appetizers)Kobe Beef on hot stone - for those that have never cooked at a Japanese or Korean barbeque, this is your opportunity to experience cooking marinated Kobe on a hot stone 2) (Appetizers) Yellowtail and Jalapeno - good and fresh 3) ( Main course) Lobster Udon - This is probably one of the most successful fusion dishes I've had. The sauce is a perfect fusion of east meets west. Udon has good texture and they throw in quite a few big chunks of lobster. The only downfall was my lobster tail was slightly overcooked 4) Kung Pao Chicken and Salteed Chicken Breast with chinese watercress - someone ordered a few chicken dishes and they're both amazing so if you're a fan of the play-it-safe chicken go ahead and you wont be disappointed I havent tried the sashimi I am in no place to compare the fish quality to Tao or Megu. Last but not least, my favorite dessert of all is the Fuji Apple Tart . Perfectly crusted and layered with thin slices of apple. I added te a la mode and it was divineee !! I also recommend te Mango mouse pudding, also a good fusion food option. If you have clients like me that live out in Long Island and always expect food like Nobu, Megu or TAO, take them here instead and trust me your year end budget will look much better next year...Cheers! read more

We recently had Christmas lunch there and it was perfect. The ambience and service was 5/5. We had pre fixed lunch menu and few Ala carte dishes and enjoyed each of them. This restaurant in the Miracle Mile shopping center has decent food, but funky service. They are currently offering indoor and outdoor dining, and thank god I had an outdoor table because their indoor dining was not abiding by any capacity restrictions - it seemed like it was as packed as ever. Unfortunately, they do not let you specifically reserve an outdoor table, though they did note it down on our reservation and we were lucky to have an outdoor table ready as soon as we arrived. Our waiter was really friendly and helpful. The food was better than average, but nothing to rave about. For appetizers, the crispy rice was fairly good, but the tuna spring rolls were a let down. They were more like cigars and they had a weirdly sweet taste to them - I would not get those again. As for the sushi, the tuna avocado roll was good. I had a specialty roll that had salmon, tuna, and asparagus and while it was pretty decent, IMO they stuffed way too much into each piece such that the pieces were no longer comfortably bite sized. One strange thing that happened was that once the main course of sushi was served, I noticed that one of the rolls on my plate was incorrect. This was after I poked around in it with my used chopsticks to determine that it was not what I had ordered. I let the server know, and he took my entire plate (with all of my other rolls that were correct and that I had already started eating) back to the kitchen for them to replace the one roll. This left my family with all of their food and me with nothing. I also did not appreciate my food being walked around the restaurant more than it needed to be, given that they were not enforcing mask use of other guests. This decision also did not make sense because it's not like they can give someone else that roll that I already touched with my used chopsticks (at least I hope they didn't do that!). However, eventually, when my family was almost done with their food, my correct order was brought back out to me. read more

The sweet soy marinated skirt steak is my absolute favorite dish at Toku! It's so delicious and always comes out amazing. For appetizer I recommend getting the crispy rice, which has spicy tuna on top. read more

Beyond incredible service and AMAZING food ! I had lobster tacos and Shrimp XO Pilaf. The pilaf is basically a shrimp fried rice. Their avocado wasabi sauce is TO DIE FOR! I forgot the name of the appetizer but there several pieces of meat and you were allowed to cook it at your table to your own liking which was a fun experience. My server was incredible, I forget his name. Food came out quickly and was delicious ! I cannot forget about the desert which was amazing. Definitely somewhere I will be visiting again! read more

This place is trendy and food is as expected more fusion than Japanese, but it was. It's really a place to see and be seemed. The drinks were delicious, but the prices were you know Northshore trendy why you bother come here if you asking for prices prices. So, if you are on budget, Toku is not for you. read more

One of my favorite places to eat but I only go once in a blue moon Because it's super pricey! Every dish I had eaten from there is delicious. My favorite is the pork fried rice and the thick cut toku fries! Only thing that sucked was the seating felt like you were sitting on top of each other, and it is super dimly lit inside, so hard to see anything really. Other than that, would def recommend if your looking for some delicious Asian fish ion cuisine. read more

I've been waiting to go to TOKU for the longest time and it lived up to the hype. My lovely boyfriend took me here with a 6pm reservation. we walked in at 5:59pm and we were seated at our table at 6pm. Amazing. Next up our waiter was the sweetest man alive, he started us with drinks (lychee martini omg) and then gave us the right amount of time to review the menu. The popcorn shrimp was wildly delicious and generous in the quantity. Obviously prices are high here but hey if you cant scrap up get out. I wasn't too hungry that night so i decided to go with the crispy rice as my entree and my boyfriend had the beef broccoli. Both were absolutely delicious, perfected in design, and presented with poise. For dessert we had the mochi, which i actually wouldn't recommend because they were a little more tasteless than i expected and the size of a quarter. Next time ill go with something else. The bill came pretty fast soon afterwards, i felt like rushed out but i actually wanted to leave so it worked out in my favor! i love TOKU! read more

I am a frequent customer of Toku, and the other restaurants within the group. I have been extremely disappointed with the service recently but because I love the food so much I keep going back. Until my experience yesterday. I ordered take out, crispy tuna & calamari salad, which I've never had before but sounded good on the menu. I picked up my food, went home plated my food and started eating. Two bites in, I realize I see a bug in my salad. I immediately call the restaurant and explain the situation, to which I was passed between two employees before finally reaching a manager who explained "they'd need to see a picture before making any decisions." ..... no apologies, no concerns, nothing. I send the picture immediately, and 20 minutes later, still no response. Finally, I get a text back "thanks - we'll give you money back for the salad." Never once did I receive an apology, an explanation nothing. The issue is never the food, however, the service and treatment I was given by the employees, it will be a very long time before I return to Toku, or any of the other restaurants within the group. read more

The atmosphere at this restaurant is very nice and the servers were very attentive. I came here for lunch with my mom and we shared the lunch bento box and the duck skewers. The food was pretty good but the portions were a bit small for the price. We also shared the fruit basket for dessert. The assortment of fruit was nice but some of the fruit was not ripe. This place seems to be very popular but I don't seem to understand why. The prices here are ridiculously high for the quantity and the quality of some of the choices on the menu. My family of 4 made a reservation to celebrate a birthday for a Thursday evening at 6 and it got packed about 30 minutes after we arrived. We were seated and given our requested drinks in a timely fashion. We ordered the Asian Ceasar Salad ($19), the Lobster Salad ($29), 2 Kobe Riverstone BBQ ($29 each), Chilean Sea Bass ($34), Sweet Soy Marinated Skirt Steak ($32), and the Sushi Chef's Combination ($100) which consisted of 1 spicy tuna and California roll and various sushi and sashimi including uni (sea urchin) and roe (fish eggs). The salads were definitely not worth their price. They were both mediocre and disappointing in taste. Honestly, I would prefer Panera's ceasar salad over the "Asian Ceasar Salad". The Kobe Riverstone BBQ is essentially a long plate of thinly sliced raw Kobe beef and a hot stone for you to "barbeque" your meat on. We cooked them. We ate them. Nothing special to be frank. They didn't taste like high-quality grade-A Kobe beef to be honest. They didn't melt in your mouth or anything, so to me they were overly expensive. However, onto the main courses, the Chilean Sea Bass was delicious: it was very soft and tender and even the vegetables underneath were fully of flavor. I especially liked the Asian salsify, something I have never had or heard of before. The skirt steak is also a must-try. It was very tender and juicy and cooked exactly to how we asked: medium-rare. Finally, the sushi came. The quantity was large and it was quite fresh. I'm not sure if it was worth that price of $100 but the quality was good. For dessert, we ordered the Mango "Tofu" Pudding ($10), the mochi ice cream set for ($11), and a cappuccino ($4.25). The pudding was decent in taste, a little on the sweet side. The mochi came in 6 flavors and we chose green tea, black sesame, and vanilla. They were very small in size and yummy but definitely not worth $11. Cappuccino was decent in all aspects. Overall, my experience here was okay, but I would not come here again unless for a special occasion. And if I do come here again, I would not order the salads or the Kobe Riverstone BBQ, simply because they were just not worth their prices. read more

i have been going to Toku since they opened there door in 2007. Always had a great meal with great friends ,until tonite 9/18/21 then everything changed for me...Had a reservation @ 7:30 and sat by 7:45 no big deal. Since I was only 2 people they sat us at a table towards the back of the restaurant, with was extremely loud,dark,and crowded.I got up asked to be moved due to these circumstances,said ok but of course this never happened,.After our drinks and appetizers came they started to set up a table for 8 people right next to me.. WTF not only is this a fire hazard but would of been very unpleasant since this table would be right on top of me.I went to the front and complained to Carolina about this and her attitude was bizzare... She had the nerve to tell me that she bent over backwards for me ??? How I dont no Made reso they honored it ,got to the restaurant on time and she sat me in the back ,thats what she calls bent over backwards She didnt even off er me as a good customer a good table... Everything here is amazing! The crispy rice was my favorite. I also have to say, the French fries were some of the best I've had. AN HONEST REVIEW Looking at other bad reviews, I was quite shocked. I come here often and it never disappoints. It's probably one of the few places in Long Island that have that High End New York City feel. The ambiance is absolutely amazing and people want something different in the suburbs, which this place offers. For the Staff: I don't think the service is horrible like other reviews state. The staff is huge so there is ALWAYS someone to help you whether you need water, chopsticks, etc. Also the food comes out fast and your table gets cleaned quickly which is great! For the Food: everything I've tried here has been great but my all time favorites are the crispy rice (a must as an appetizer), King crab roll, Asian Caesar Salad( the perfect amount of dressing, love it cause it's so light), and the rock shrimp tempura! Definitely recommend this place for a nice dinner, lunch etc. just keep in mind the prices are a bit expensive but that's what you pay for quality food. read more

Drove all the way from Bellmore to Order perking duck and salmon meal, and wasn't given any perking duck sauce. I called back to explain to the manager Carolyna and she racial profiled me and called me a liar, saying I had sauce in the bag when I didn't. Why would I lie about sauce. Spent $90 on two orders and carolyna the manager made me feel horrible. I will never return to this place again. I've been to Toku a million times. It's one of those places to eat overpriced decent sushi and Asian fusion, in a high-end "see-and-be-seen" restaurant. If you're not rockin' a Chanel bag, Burberry coat, and Prada shoes, don't bother coming. But nevertheless...it's always a hotspot. Don't get me wrong, I like coming here for the vibe and to feel *fancy* but I'm certainly not coming for a culinary experience. The sushi is fresh and good, nothing to write home about. The Chinese dishes are fine, don't expect large portions. Some menu items I like are the crispy rice and the chicken salad. Service is always great, as are the drinks. Swanky place in the north shore of Long Island. We had reservations for 8:30 on a Sunday and were nicely greeted and promptly sat. The place inside is truly beautiful with a great atmosphere. Servers and bartenders extremely professional and knowledgeable and tended to all of our needs and requests. Our food was delicious, we pretty much ordered the whole left side of the menu and there was not one item that we didn't enjoy. We weren't told this information at all while making the reservation nor was this info posted on their website. Seems very dishonest and sketchy not to inform a guest of this until they're already seated in the restaurant. Really enjoyed!!!!! Place was completely packed for a Thursday, definitely worth checking it. Really fun atmosphere Loved the Rock Shrimp and Crispy Rice Tuna for apps. Kung Pao Chicken was phenomenal for dinner, just the right amount of kick to it. Pork Fried Rice is also amazing. Was not crazy about the Jumbo Prawns Szechuan whatsoever, sauce was way too sweet for my liking and shrimp seemed overcooked. Drinks were okay.. Would go back for sure! read more
