Such a lovely place! Our waiter, Jay, made the experience even more fantastic! Such a sweet and polite guy! He helped us with choosing the right dinner for us and answered all our questions! Not to mention that we came 20 mins before closing, and they still were very welcoming (not like most places in Atlanta area that claim to close at certain time and don't let anyone in 25 mins prior). By far the worst service I've had at any Japanese Steakhouse. Not only did we wait 10 minutes for them to clean the table, it took them another 15 minutes for them to bring out drinks and another 15 after that to get them to take our order. The table they sat 10 minutes after ours was getting their food cooked when we were just getting soup delivered. I originally came here off of a recommendation but it will be the last time my family or I visit. It will also be on the top of the list to make sure I tell people to avoid. Took a little too long to get our checks and payment delivered and taken. The interior is dim lighting with minimal decor. Location wise it is pretty convenient off of hwy 92. I ordered off the "hibachi" lunch menu. Aka you sit at a booth and they bring it out from the kitchen, not at the grill in front of you. I hate writing a bad review about a place I've regularly enjoyed for almost a decade. Tokyo Boat was a hidden treasure for many years. Great lunch specials, fun dinners and celebrating many birthdays. NO MORE. I will not go back. The quality of the food and the service has declined over time, but tonight was all time low. The hibachi chef rudely complained to me because I politely asked (as I always do) to prepare my food without butter. I frequent hibachi restaurants and this has never been an issue. They simply cook mine to the side or cook it all together and serve my portion then add butter. You would think I asked him to climb Mt. Fuji. Ok so that's not that big a deal. The AC was broken and with all the grills going at once we were sweating our butts off. Things happen, I get it. My son found a black bug in his soup. I inspected closely to confirm it did have legs and antennae. (They didn't care - although the language barrier makes it difficult to know if they even understood what I was showing then) which leads to the real reason I'm not going back. We each (several families at same table) had charges on our bill that weren't correct. Upon explaining this to them, they argued with us and refused to remove the charges. It was only $8 on one and $4 on another, but it's the principal. Finally, we said forget it. It was hot, they were using the language barrier against us and we just wanted to leave -so we paid the bill and told them we were not coming back. They just really didn't seem to care. Sad Bc we had been pretty loyal over the years. Too many great places in the area to put up with this nonsense. read more

We love to go to Tokyo Boat and have sushi. The Milton roll is delicious!!! We are early diners so we are there in the early evening and sit right at the sushi counter. The sushi chef, Kevin, is very friendly. (Just get him talking!) We go to Tokyo Boat every few weeks. Love it! read more

I completely love this neighborhood hibachi restaurant. The food is great, and the prices are even better. The reason for only 4 stars is that the service is often hit or miss. Sometimes you get a very nice hostess, sweet waitress, and entertaining chef, or some combination of the three. But some days, you get a hostess who is confused, a waitress who doesn't want to be there, and a chef who just cooks your meal (most of the reason, I think, people go for hibachi is the "entertainment" aspect - the onion volcano, the rice shaped like a beating heart, the fanfare and showmanship, etc.). But, when it's good, it's great! One more tip - if you order a beer, don't let the waitresses pour it into the glass if you care about the amount of head on your beer. My fiancee ordered his and let them pour it from bottle into glass a couple of times and it ended up being at least 50% head. read more

Had dinner last night. We ordered the "love Boat sashimi for 2" and the Thanksgiving Roll. The Thanksgiving roll is good I would give 4 stars, but the sashimi from the "love Boat for 2" is not so great, I would give 2 stars, the fish is not fresh, not fishy yet but definitely not fresh, we can tell they were just pull it out from the freezer and sliced it. After eating 3 pieces, we could not eat it anymore. Have not tried their hibachi yet, maybe we will give another try next time. but we will probably not come back for the sashimi. read more

I had to change my order from there to Togo due to time restraints from the customer service taking so long and the waiter made me feel uncomfortable and made me feel that I was being an inconvenience to him. Here's the thing- I used to LOVE Tokyo Boat. I'd often go by myself and order the sushi/sashimi plate (I know- piggy, piggy). Today I ordered some sushi to go via their online ordering system. I ordered it at 3:45 and requested a pick up time of 6pm. When I got there at 5:55 they were yelling at me about how they were going to cancel my order since I'd "called it in at 4". I asked why they offered on-line ordering and she said I need to call it in next time. Rude, rude, rude. Which I can forgive if the sushi still rocks, but it DIDN'T. Maybe because it had been sitting there for over an hour? The portions were way smaller than in the past. Definitely not up to par with what it had been. I miss the old Tokyo Boat. I ordered two sushi rolls as my entree while seated at the hibachi table with friends. The 1st roll came out, spicy tuna, which was at best average. Enhanced by using the dipping sauces that went with the hibachi. So then she brings to scallops niguri, uh might have well have been straight from the markdown section at Kroger. Disgusting smell!! Can we give no stars? Can't review the food - wasn't seated, wasn't served, wasn't acknowledged, was seen by four staffers, was completely ignored (I mean no smile, no 'be with you in a moment'). I seated myself, I went and got my own menus, I asked for service twice, and got nothing at all. Never received worse service (or lack thereof) in my life. It wasn't full, it wasn't busy, it wasn't closing, I was clean and neat (heck, it was my birthday dinner, for crying out loud! I made myself look cute!), there was no excuse whatsoever. Good service but the spicy tuna was NOT fresh. Definently tasted fishy. Not Rusan's' fishy but fishy enough that my wife had to get some Srichacha to mask the fishyness. We have gone to this restaurant quite a few times, at least ten. The service is just ok, waitresses and chefs are nice but not super fast. The food is pretty typical hibachi, and my husband likes their sushi. The last couple of times we have gone, the place has been relatively empty...which is too bad. Another plus, a newer exhaust system- which means I don't smell like hibachi when I leave. Plus, my kid loves it! Worth checking out if you live in the area. read more

Since I eat here pretty frequently, I was pretty surprised to see they weren't ranked on Yelp. The menu prices for hibachi seem a bit steep, but they run a perpetual "40% off hibachi special," so don't let that deter you. Their bento box lunch is a good value and fresh, so I come for lunch at least once a month. They could use some new booth cushions (they look a bit busted), but they're otherwise good. read more

The new location off Holcomb Bridge at Old Alabama in the Publix shopping center is really nice! Very clean and great service. We ate there for my bday last night and the value was great with the $13 hibatchi. We will definitely be a regular customer here. There was only 1 other group in the entire restaurant so in order for us to keep a nice, new, affordable hibatchi restaurant open, they need folks to try them out. Fabulous! This was my first time here and it was definitely better then expected. We chose to do Hibachi, which can be a hit or miss depending on the chef. I have a 5yr old and I thought it would be fun for him. Boy was it fun! My son had a blast and actually ate all his food!! The chef, Dom, was amazing. I was here last Friday and the food was pretty decent. We had a few of those sushi wrapped in bacon. It was fantastic just made me felt fat afterward. The services was fast as well. It's a pretty small place so you need to call first to make sure you don't get turn away or wait too long, I waited about 15 minutes but the food was worth it. The chef is actually Japanese so you know they have. The only reason I gave it 4 star was because of the 30% discount on sushi on their website, but they didn't list any of the terms to see if it's valid. I did not get the discount, typical Asian restaurants trying to get you in with the discount to attract people and will decide not to give it to you when you are there. First (and last) time here. What a disappointing experience. From the very beginning, everything was "fine." We ordered sushi to start, and it was neither particularly fresh nor particularly flavorful, but fine. Our server was very friendly and attentive, but my wife tried to ask our him about a couple of Japanese dishes by their Japanese names (yakisoba instead of stir-fried soba, that sort of thing), and it was clear he had no idea what she was talking about. There were no children's meals, so we ended up ordering extra adult-sized meals and splitting them with the kids. I ordered the stir-fried soba, and it was fine, too, but not worth the $15 I paid for it. My wife ordered the salmon teriyaki, with the teriyaki sauce on the side, and the fish that came out was the whitest and blandest salmon we've ever encountered. I don't know what fish it could have been besides salmon, but I have never seen a salmon fillet look like that. It wasn't bad, or fishy, or spoiled. It just wasn't right. We couldn't believe we were dropping so much money on such a lack-luster meal. There are several very good hibachi-style restaurants in the area. Asahi Japanese Steak & Sushi in Marietta isn't run by Japanese owners either, but their food is much more authentic, and Sake Japanese Steakhouse is absolutely delicious. Both restaurants are more expensive, but after getting the bill for Tokyo Boat, we realized they aren't incredibly so, and the quality food is so superior that it's worth a couple of extra dollars to have a really good meal instead of one that is just...fine. read more

I stopped in to get some sushi recently and asked to see their health code rating = it was a C!!! Not only that, their health code score was not posted but was hiding behind a cash register, I had to ask to see it. With a C rating you are endangering your health eating anything but fried food here. I chose not to eat here, I hope that whoever handles the enforcement of health codes will make a surprise visit. Ok, I went here for the first time on my lunch break because I was pretty sure my co-works had ordered take out from here. The first thing I noticed walking in was the sign for 45% hibachi and 25% off sushi. The sign was very poorly written and sloppy, as was the smaller handwritten sign that noted they were hiring for a variety of positions. I walked in and there was not a soul in the place. I stepped in a little and managed to get the attention of a man setting tables in the back and inquired if they served lunch. The man spoke to someone behind a curtained doorway and a girl came up with dish washing gloves on. I told her I was there for lunch and she sat me at a booth the back. She was prompt in getting my water for me and miso soup, which was nice and hot. I like sushi, but not with raw fish (weird I know). I asked the girl about a couple of the sushi rolls and inquired as to which one were raw - in particular the California roll. She said there were fish eggs on top of the California roll. I decided to brave it and ordered the California roll and the avocado roll. When it came out it was presented nicely on the plate and the "fish eggs" were minuscule and looked more like orange sprinkles, which was perfectly fine with me and I was glad I took the chance in spite of the poor description given. The food was good, but the slices of avocado inside both rolls was more room temperature compared to the cooler temp of the foods that were clearly refrigerated. Still. It all tasted fine. The girl brought my my check, again in her dish washing gloves. Despite this, she was sweet and prompt. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. Hopefully the avocado was ok, guess we'll have to wait and see! read more

I ended up there for a (very) late lunch. The service was quite good - but I was also the only one in there for a long span. I ended up getting a tuna roll and age tofu. The tuna was reasonably fresh. The sushi rice seemed a little sweeter than usual. Both the sushi and the tofu seemed to have the slight flavor of onion powder. The hibachi cook had "pants on the ground" and WAY too much anatomy showing (boxers too big too)! Service was very slow. Server had hard time understanding English. Steak had a boatload of garlic & other unknown items dumped on it. Couldn't even taste the steak. People asked that their steaks be cooked different temps, but he cooked it all together for the same amount of time. Disappointed! We have been to TB many times and we really like the food there but we have noticed over the course of the past several months that their quantity/portion of the food for hibachi dinner has gotten smaller and smaller. Now that they have their hibachi specials going on, they pack in every hibachi table with the maximum number of people/seats available (I think 12 per table) and amount of food you actual get is minimal at best. Also the chefs do not do a good job apportioning the cooked food. Almost always, the lucky person who get the first cut gets a decent portion but forget it if you are the last one. TB - in the interest of fairness...how about dividing up the food on the grill in 12 portions before it is scooped up and placed on the plates? Even though they advertise that the portion sizes of the hibachi specials are the same as regular... the fact is they are smaller. We overheard others at the same table mention this point as well. TB - If you are going to pack in the maximum number of people at a table, how much more is it going to cost you to add a couple of more scopes of rice and vegetables to the order? Here's an idea - I will gladly pay $2 more to get a second portion of rice and vegetables. The sad part of our last dinner at TB was that on our way back home, we had to stop at a fast-food place because we were still hungry when we left TB :( read more

We waited our entire meal to get a refill on water, and once we got it, the waitress got ice in my meal.
