The folks running the place were very warm and welcoming. The only thing I did see was that many of the tables still had used dishes and there were only 2-3 couples there eating and that left only a few spots to pick from to sit. Not sure if the busboy was out sick or if they pulled in all the dishes at once but I had not seen this before. I ordered the Philly sushi roll and teriyaki chicken and sweet carrots. First the sushi roll - it was fresh and the flavor was really good. I was very impressed with it and would eat their sushi over and over for sure. As for the teriyaki, you can even tell in the picture that the chicken looked like big blocks of chicken breast and it was tougher than I would have wanted. I'm quite the teriyaki chicken eater at many Japanese restaurants so I know I'm probably a little more critical than most. But it just wasn't tender and as flavorful as I have seen almost everywhere else. The sweet carrots were not very sweet and I really look for carrots that are soft but not super soft. These were more crispy and not soft much at all. The shrimp sauce was not like most that I've had. I'm not sure how to explain how it was different. But it seemed more white like ranch than the orange/pinkish color you see at most places. It hurts me to write a review like this. Especially when it's not a 4 or 5. And most especially since the people were so warm and welcoming. I have no doubts that if I had complained, they would have tried to fix things but I didn't feel that was fair to them.

We were promptly greeted and shown to a table. The menu had a great selection of ramen, bento, and sushi. While I was leaning towards sushi, I opted for the chicken katsu bento. The food came out quickly and I was pleasantly surprised at the portion size. Definitely a good value in my opinion. The only disappointment was their take on fried rice, which seemed more like a dirty rice you would get at Popeye's. Honestly, I think white rice would have been a better pairing for this dish. Great service throughout our visit and we're keeping this one on the short list.

I was in shock and awe, I cannot remember the last time I got lunch for under $6- it was surely nearly a decade ago, and not in the recent past. I enjoyed the meal, even if it was a touch bland, but it is a $5 lunch special, so it's hard to complain. The veggies were still crispy and delicious and the steamed rice was nice and fluffy. The chicken was well seasoned, and I liked how they used cabbage as a cheap filler veggie in this hibachi. It was a good and affordable meal. I even had enough left over for a light dinner or lunch!

Now, the portion size of the Hibachi Chicken with vegetables was much better, and it may be my choice next time.
