The second drink the bartender gave us was a vodka sprite. Maybe we should have specified soda means seltzer. Dinner bill for 3 adults and 2 kids was $250 plus tips. The food was decent but the service was underwhelming and subpar for spending that type of cash. Especially since the server seemed like anything we asked her was asking her to go out of her way. I was immediate greeted by the two Sushi chefs behind the counter as I walked in. Not long after, the host greeted me and handed me a menu for me to select my order to go. I considered a poke bowl, however, their sauces were pretty standard. So instead I opted for their seaweed salad that came with a number of protein including tuna, edamame, shrimp, avocado, and masago. It was $19, so it wasn't necessarily inexpensive, however I figured a poke bowl with a couple proteins would run me right about there as well. The sushi chef got right away to work preparing my meal and I was in and out within 5 minutes. When I got home, I opened up my box and was a little underwhelmed with the presentation. The protein is cut up into small pieces and mixed in with the seaweed salad. In addition it is not pure seaweed as it is also mixed in with a bunch of other greens such as sprouts. So while the presentation was not what I was expecting, I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed the flavors and textures. I will definitely order this again.

The service was nothing special and the beef and chicken were either not a choice cut or prepared poorly, followed by a saturation of butter to deny a proper Japanese seared protein. Even more sad was how undeniably bad the fried rice was. I don't prepare fried rice at home too frequently because of the prep that's required. So I can appreciate when a restaurant does it when they have their ducks in a row. Takumi's ducks were all floating upside down because the fried rice had no personality. Again, unless you like the taste of buttered rice, THIS is not the place for good authentic Japanese food.
