As far as teppanyaki spots in town go Takumi is easily one of my favorites. I have been coming here for over a decade and the quality has remained consistently great throughout the years. Even with price adjustments over time their menu pricing is completely reasonable and gives you unbeatable value especially when compared to other nearby teppanyaki restaurants that tend to overcharge. You definitely get serious quantity here because the portions are huge and you will never leave hungry. The customer service is outstanding from start to finish. The staff is always attentive and every teppanyaki chef we have had has been pleasant engaging and entertaining making it a fantastic dining experience especially for kids. Short and not so sweet: this place is not good. I would give it a 1.5 stars because they had clean restrooms at this time. The restrooms should NOT be the star of the show at a teppan restaurant. The service was nothing special and the beef and chicken were either not a choice cut or prepared poorly, followed by a saturation of butter to deny a proper Japanese seared protein. Even more sad was how undeniably bad the fried rice was. I don't prepare fried rice at home too frequently because of the prep that's required. So I can appreciate when a restaurant does it when they have their ducks in a row. Takumi's ducks were all floating upside down because the fried rice had no personality. Again, unless you like the taste of buttered rice, THIS is not the place for good authentic Japanese food. read more

My husband has been talking about this place for a while so he decided to take me for my birthday. When we walked in the first thing I noticed, of course was the water display with the real Koi fish inside. I really love that aspect because the sound of the water really welcome you as you walk in. next to the water is seating for those who are waiting. Her name was Naomi. She gave us our menus and time to make our choices. I ordered the Mexican shots flight and some spicy edamame to start. Our drinks came out pretty quick as well as our appetizer and both did not disappoint. They really hit the spot. The Mexican shots are sweet and tangy rimmed with Tajin and a tiny skewer of sugar coated gummy candy. They come in watermelon, pineapple, passionfruit, and I think strawberry. For our main course, I ordered the steak bento box. It has everything that you'd wanna taste. It came with tempura, Gyoza, steak, bacon fried rice and a cucumber salad. It also comes with a side of miso soup and a House salad. They use an orange ginger dressing on the salad, which is so addicting. My husband got a spicy roll. Our food came out fresh and everything was really delicious. The steak was tender. The gyoza were crispy. That tempura was lightly battered and came with a light savory sauce to dip. I don't even like cucumbers, but the cucumber salad was really crunchy and flavorful. Like I said, Naomi was great and very attentive. She filled our drinks consistently and offered to clear our table from any clutter and trash. We sat there for a while and enjoyed the scenery, which was nicely decorated. the prices were average for what you would pay at a Japanese restaurant. What surprised me the most about Takumi was the generous serving sizes! The portions are definitely bigger than I expected. The bacon fried rice was savory and had just the right amount of flavor. I also really enjoyed the vegetables--they weren't overcooked, and the bean sprouts were fresh and crunchy, which is exactly how I prefer them. The hot and spicy sauce was perfect when combined with the rest of the food and added a nice kick without overpowering the flavors. The raspberry tea was refreshing and not overly sweet. Went today for lunch and ordered sushi. Service was okay but the sushi had no flavor at all. We ordered a rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll and a California roll. The rainbow roll has a bunch of different fresh fish on top, it all tasted bland, there was no flavor. It almost seemed like it wasn't real fish. The spicy tuna roll was an awful flavor and it wasn't spicy at all. The California roll was the only thing that tasted half way decent and it isn't even real crab. Thought I'd give this hibachi place a try, but was disappointed. Service was slow despite the restaurant being weirdly empty? This is one of our favorite Sushi & Teppanyaki Restaurants in Fresno. Last night we took my husband's nephew (nine years old) to try sushi for the first time, and he did great! He tried every roll we ordered, and loved each one. Our server was so kind and very patient with him (especially when he was curious if they had a piranha roll ). We came to dinner with my kids and sat on the dining side on a Friday night. We were seated right away and our drinks and food were served fast as well. Our server was really nice, chatty and gave us suggestions. She kept checking on us and gave us fantastic service. Our food was so good! My sashimi salmon just melted in my mouth and I wished I had ordered 2! The bread pudding that was recommended was soft and had a wonderful caramel taste that just had me going back for more. We dined in to celebrate a birthday. Service was friendly, check ins and water infrequent, and less so once the food dropped. I had gotten the veggie roll and spicy miso ramen. My partner ordered the sunset roll and the three amigos. Compatriot ordered the teppan salmon and the baked salmon roll. We had ordered something else at the end but that was forgotten over time. The rolls overall fall apart really easily and have much more rice than anything else. The veggie roll the veggies tasted old, The fish itself is ok, nothing to write home about but not much character on that end and the amount leaves a bit to be desired. The spicy miso ramen was bland and watered down. The amount of veggies in that miniscule. Noodles were plain egg noodles and were out of place. I think the only redeeming feature of that part was that the broth was hot which was nice. Compatriot enjoyed her salmon though which was the most important part. Only go if you can't get in anywhere else for Teppanyaki, there is no flavor in the bacon fried rice also portion is small for the choice of protein, when the cook starting cooking I didn't see any seasoning added to the rice or anything else just cooked the food on the bacon grease, we paid $250 for my family to eat, waste of money so much green onions in the rice too and the spicy sauce didn't even mix in with the teriyaki sauce it tasted like mainly mayo. The server was also slow we didn't get any refills in our drinks my husband and I had empty cups with only ice. It was pretty busy with prom kids but we only waited a few minutes with a reservation. The floor was pretty slippery from the oil in the air I think, be careful you can slip my son almost did cause he thought it was funny to pretend to be Michael Jackson moon walking on slippery floors. April 8 2026 my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Takumi for the first time. As soon as we entered, the hostess warmly welcomed us and promptly seated us. The ambiance was nice and relaxing. Our server Sidnee was exceptional. She took our order efficiently and made us feel like we were part of the Takumi family. We didn't even need to ask for anything. She was proactive clearing our plates, refilling our drinks and even providing us with takeout boxes for our leftovers. Chef Kenneth was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed conversing and laughing with him. While watching him skillfully, prepare our meals to perfection, entertainment at its best. This dining experience was both fun and memorable and we can't wait to return soon. I ordered to go it was almost $200 for 8 plates and with tip it was a little over $200 that weren't anything special the lady couldn't even give an exact time it would be ready. But she had to take a deposit or entire payment over the phone. I'm sorry but you're asking us to give our entire card number to one of your staff. They said they'd call me when it's ready, I'm sorry I hate cold food. So went and sat and waited done in 40 min. Which isn't ideal but then when I got home no chop sticks no forks no napkins. And 6 soy sauce. I'm sorry but if you are asking for 20-24 for an eight piece roll you should probably not be cheap asses. Let alone the New York and fried rice was $35 and that was one of the cheaper teppanyaki didn't come with the soup or salad you would have to pay even more. Tokyo go is way better for the same price. So yeah unfortunately probably won't be back if people are paying for a service it's because they don't want to cook or clean up dishes. Kinda annoyed I tipped I gave them $35 for what? To take my food to go without utensils and napkins and sauce. The funny part is I asked if there was soy sauce the girl was kinda rude she's like yes it's in the bag. I've been here twice to see if the first time was a fluke but nope! I'm officially in love with this place. This is the first place I've had a White Russian where they've shaken it, served with no ice and had the cream float. I've tried about three or four rolls now and all of them were amazing. My favorite, so far is the red rose roll. Obviously tuna is one of my favorites, it has really good flavor and taste so soft and fresh. It almost melts in your mouth. Takumi's was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, and that's saying a lot. The service was beyond terrible, and the manager's attitude made everything 10x worse. We were wrongly charged for THREE sides of extra rice that we never even asked for. When we pointed it out, expecting a simple fix like any normal restaurant would do, the manager came over with a rude, dismissive attitude like we were the problem. Instead of taking accountability for THEIR mistake, she told us we either had to give the rice back or pay the $33. Who even says that to customers?? No apology, no effort to make it right, just straight up disrespect and terrible customer service. It felt like they were trying to blame us for something they messed up themselves. The whole situation was handled so unprofessionally it honestly ruined the entire meal. The vibe was off after that, and it was clear they don't care about their customers at all. If this is how they treat people over a simple mistake, I can't imagine how they handle bigger issues. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values their customers, because Takumi's clearly doesn't. read more

I thought the sushi was excellent. They had fresh oysters which was a fun treat. The ambience was wonderful, they had a full bar, with a lot of signature cocktails and mocktails. It was pretty full - we made a reservation - but not too noisy. The dining area is very nice, and there is also room at the bar and the sushi bar, which were both set a little apart from main dining. Yes, it's expensive, but sushi has just gotten a lot more expensive in general. But the taste was very good. We got the Red Dragon, Gilroy roll and I think the Sunset?
