Feasted on the takeout with 8 other people, I'm talking about several large bags worth of food. We had so many different types of rolls and sashimi I couldn't tell one type of fish from another but they were all delicious. They were very nice to make dishes off-menu, like the tofu and string bean dish we requested. The pad thai was different but good, we were all too full from everything else to finish - a few of us were lucky enough to have it for lunch the next day. Their green tea ice cream is made just right, not too bitter nor too sweet. I have to say that the only downside is the fortunes that come in their cookies. read more

This is my favorite local Chinese/Japanese food restaurant. I agree with other reviewers, the food is great and far less greasy than typical Chinese food restaurants. The staff is awesome as well. Good Chinese food. I've always gotten take out. The owners, husband and wife, are very nice. If you like spicy you can ask for extra heat too! For the area, it's hard to beat Mandarin Oriental for decent sushi and Asian food. Of course, there's not much nearby competition, either. I actually find their cooked foods superior to the sushi - a fish in black bean sauce was outstanding and they have a nice mixed selection of Chinese, Thai and Japanese entrees to please most diners. For the sushi, I'd stick with the basics like sashimi and chirashi, which are quite ample and fresh tasting - the house special rolls haven't really blown me away. I worked at the supermarket and the video store that was in the same shopping center as Mandarin Oriental a few years back, so this used to be a place I'd get takeout from quite often. Their sushi is delicious and the staff is super attentive. I love the spicy tuna! read more

This is the best, by far, Asian food you can get in this area. Been here a few times now and it is consistently good. We prefer to take out but inside is usually quiet and clean. The sushi bar is on display, which I like so you can see your food being prepared. I am in love with their shrimp pad Thai. It's so yummy! Also good here is the sesame chicken. We've enjoyed sushi here too. It's always fresh. Prices are decent for the portion and the quality. Excellent place to go if you're in the mood for something other than pizza. read more

Always ordered here, but the other night I ordered beef and broccoli, and later that night, I had repeated bouts of vomiting and diarrhea at the same time and a fever. I can only attribute it to this, as that's all I ate that day and I wasn't sick beforehand. The food here has gotten progressively worse and worse every time I eat there or get take out. The sushi doesn't feel fresh and is a little nauseating. Love this place! It's located next to a Shoprite ( my favorite supermarket ) and I time it so I can have lunch and review my Shoprite circular and make out my shopping list while dining. I have been coming here for years and I know the staff well. The service is excellent and they even know my favorite seat. I am a huge fan of their tropical green tea! It's so soothing on cold days. My favorite is the Hot and Sour Soup! It's the best I've ever tasted anywhere. The lunch specials are reasonably priced and the portions are more than generous. The sushi rolls are very good, maybe not as upscale as some specialty restaurants but it satisfies my sushi craving. It's very dim lit which I kind of like while dining. This is a BYOB restaurant and the prices are on point. It's located in a very small strip of stores. This is not a fancy place by any means but worthy of a satisfying tasty lunch. read more

I eat here on the regs because i live right down the street. However, i doubt i wouldn't make the trip if i lived further away as well since their Sushi is the best around here in South Jersey. Always fresh and always hits the spot. I don't really know a whole lot about their other items on the menu because im just that committed to my Sushi binging. This place is great for both eat in and take out. The atmosphere is great, but at times the restaurant may get a little crowded. The servers may come on as a little cold, but the service is prompt and you get what you ask for. I have only tasted the Chinese food from here, and I have been happy with the results. Its with a great disappointent I write this. After going to eat there for over 15 years with family, it is falling majorly. The quality and flavor of their food has gone from 5 stars no matter what you ordered to 1 star (that's generous) hoping its just ok and can eat it. I always took relatives and everyone there as it was the best around and a special treat for us. After this past weekends trip which I was hesitant to go because its been so bad the last several times, no doubt it was our last visit. Service poor, food poor, portions have decreased. Ordered General chicken which had to be frozen not fresh chicken bites (awful) with generals sauce, terrible couldn't eat it. Sushi we just had to through out. Chicken on a stick was so over cooked it was dry and stuck to the stick! No one would eat it. Service was poor as well, place was completly empty you would think they would have a smile on and make eye contact when talking and be polite. I brought family there from out of town and was embarassed. I will not be returning I tried also the other locations in recent in hopes maybe their focus was there but same thing. I feel owners have just let the place go from what it was. A real shame we will be looking for a new restaurant in the area. This is Based on my last 5-6 experiences and kept hoping it would get better but it only got worse. I wish it wasnt true as I loved this place. Would not recommend. read more

We went to this restaurant last night to give them another chance and we were severely disappointed. The hot and sour soup was lukewarm as best, although the flavor was decent enough. Our entrees were cold/lukewarm - not exactly healthy for a Chinese restaurant. The "sizzling salmon" chef's special did not come out sizzling and was in fact not warm. They used processed salmon nuggets and charged over $13. The grandfather's shrimp was lukewarm an the broccoli with it was cold. We had to return the food for warming, not much better. The waiter was abrupt despite our calm attitude. Sorry, but your service is not good enough to cop an attitude. The sushi at our last visit. I strongly disagree with many of the reviewers here. They may not have much better to compare to. I've been to multiple excellent Chinese/Japanese restaurants in Pa and SJ, including their place in Marmora, and this place is not worth trying. read more
