Sushi is amazing, staff is great, a wonderful place for a date or a family meal!! This has been my go to spot for dine in and takeout. It's also reasonably priced.

While the outside isn't as appealing as others, once you step inside it's a quaint little spot with a lot to offer. Tried the sashimi and it was amazing.

When I say this is my favorite sushi restaurant...I mean it. Fantastic sushi, warm cozy vibe, and great service. They're always friendly and kind there. We love it, the extensive menu and the great appetizers. Their hot green tea is also exceptional. We've been multiple times and won't go anywhere else for sushi, we found our hidden gem! There's parking in the back too.

Bae lives in Redlands, I live in L.A., we've been here a couple times now, once in 2019 and then this past weekend. We sat at the bar this time and had a great time. Last time we sat at a table and we think we definitely prefer the bar, as the dining room gets full on the weekend and can be on the loud side. Sitting at the bar was serene, the way I prefer to eat sushi. We had a couple of hot sakes, the Crash, the Firecracker and split the Shooting Star. All of them were so delicious and beautifully presented. Our waitress was attentive and efficient, and the sushi chef was great, as he took our order. We shall be adding this to our rotation for sure! Bae looks forward to watching the Dodgers after work (go Shohei and Yoshinobu!) at the bar with some sushi this upcoming season.

I really like this place. The ambiance reminds me of early 2000s romcoms. I think because the first time I tried it was alone on Valentine's Day 2023 . The rolls are diverse and well put together. The service has always been great

I liked this place. I don't know why I have never been here but it was great ! The rolls were unique and delicious. Our server was newer but very nice the place is older but gets the job done. It has an older school vibe. I have ordered from here like 4 times now and it has all be great.

Likes its name, Tokyo Restaurant, is unassuming, straight-forward restaurant, but they try to make you feel welcome. For Sushi, this is our work place's choice. The service is attentive. In our group we had a great diversity of diners and everyone was able to find something they enjoyed. As you can see from the interior pic and Sushi bar pic, this is a small restaurant. I have tended to go a bit before peak dining times to get a seat. I thought I'd take a pic of the Tempura Shrimp to illustrate their Tempura. The Tempura was incredibly light and airy. The butterflied shrimp were quite large. The batter and shrimp didn't have very much flavor in, and of itself. But that's what Ponzu, Soy and Wasabi are for. The other pic is of the Philadelphia Roll. Overall, this is a very mild roll. Inside this roll its: crab, avocado, cream cheese and on top Salmon. Again, the flavor is all about the sauces. The Redlands Roll is very similar to this roll but baked, and I found that roll to have more flavor.

This place is a hidden gem! Everything I ate was absolutely delicious.

Everything I ate was absolutely delicious. The shooting star roll was by far my favorite. The place was very clean and inviting! And the service was quick and attentive. Definitely my new go to sushi spot!

Does the double double roll have crab in it? or is it imitation crab?

Hello all of our rolls with crab meat use imitation crab meat.

How do I decide to order normally or AYCE? Do you have Bento Box lunch? How much is that and what…

Hello we do not have an all you can eat option. We do have bento boxes and lunch specials. They range from 15.95 plus tax for lunch. The bento boxesinclude and entree, 4 pc cali roll, rice, and 4 pc tempura.

Can we order online for pickup? I only see for delivery through grub to go...

No, but you can call in and place an order.

    Is it ayce?

It is not all you can eat, so the sashimi and sushi are of a good portion and not all rice:)

I sensed something exciting was going to happen -- but relying entirely on word of mouth. Flash-forward to early 2026, where readers of the local weekly paper named this the Best Sushi of Redlands. I was so excited, and as my visit last week demonstrates -- things have only improved. KYO SUSHI was packed at 5PM on a Tuesday. Not only slammed, but standing room only. I don't know what happened but I'm so happy for them. Two subtle changes have happened and I'm all for them. A LOCAL NEWS channel sharing dreadful stories on the TV has been swapped for hi-def reels of lovely Asian spots, making our escape from the crazy world we live in complete. As an extra touch, we are now treated to soothing jazz, which helps in a room with so many happy customers. A special shout out to Sia, who greets regulars like family and will help you get exactly what you need. Hi to Wendy and the new young lady, all keeping a close eye on customer happiness. I believe KYO is on the brink of having outgrown this location, but a lease is likely keeping them there for a while. It's a shame they can't move next door into the old Von's location -- lol -- because what a place that would be. Enough room in their to farm the fish. Pro Tip -- try the Megan Fox roll!

The roll presentation was very good, and visually the food looked great. The plates came out clean, colorful, and nicely arranged. Flavor-wise though, the rolls were fairly bland. The house mayo tasted like regular mayo, which isn't necessarily bad, but I guess I was expecting something with a little more going on, maybe closer to a spicy mayo or some kind of signature sauce. We also ordered a Philly roll, but were brought the Philly "Pro" instead. The Pro is deep fried, which I wasn't expecting, and I took a bite without realizing how hot it was and almost burned my mouth. I did mention that "Philly roll" and "Philly Pro" are close enough in name that I could see wrong orders happening pretty easily. Service was direct and decent. Nothing bad, just more to-the-point than warm or memorable. I'd probably give this place another shot, because it seemed like we may have gotten caught in a rush all at once. Not terrible by any means, and the presentation was definitely a strong point, but it wasn't quite the standout experience I was expecting.

All the surrounding tables I guess is only for Ramen and non grilling food items as they dont have a grill in them. It was hectic and chaotic in here. Watching the 2 waitresses not only handling the food orders at the tables, but also making drinks, taking orders, bringing the food out, handling the front desk, to clearing the tables. Real props to them for still providing excellent customer service with each of their tables. Their food comes out fast, and they all tasted amazing. And their drinks too look visually stunning and tasted great. We ordered the following foods and drink: 1. Gyu set- comes with several meats that you cook on the fire. High quality. Great taste. Extremely tender and flavorful. 2. Short ribs- they were so good we had to get another order of them. 3. Sushi taco- 3 different types of seafood. Tasted really good, ended.up getting 2 orders of them. 4. Spicy tuna crispy wanton- lots of spicy tuna. Love the flavors. The crunch of the taco was really good. 5. Chicken karaage- crispy and tender. The sauce it came with was so good. 6. Tempura shrimp- 3 peices only. It was ok. A great appetizer to start with. 7. Spicy pork bao- bao bun was amazing. Pork was soft and tender. Good ratio of meat to bao. 8. Smoked brisket bao- not as good as the spicy pork. But was still really good. 9. Hand roll was also really good. Drinks: 1. White peach sake sangria- this drink was so light and refreshing. Definitely hit me by the time I finished it though. 2. Yuzu pineapple express- our favorite drink by far. Very pineapple forward. Sweet, tart and refreshing. 3. Tokyo tea- the midori made it look so pretty. The taste itself was very good as well. 4. Rising sun- Japanese whiskey. It was very whiskey forward, but it was also very smooth. I love how they had a little bit of everything here. Pork, chicken, raw fish, sushi, bbq, bao buns, Ramen, a whole bunch of different appetizers. Everything that we tried was really good, and put a smile of happiness on our face as we took a bite and tried them. There's a little bit of everything for everyone here. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks. It was not cheap. Every little thing added up. But we did order a lot of food and drinks. But everything was really good. Would definitely come back again!!

So, of course, I look on Yelp and came across Nko Niko sushi, which is regarded as one of the best sushi spots in Redlands. I actually went as far as double checking on reddit and the votes were definitely in! This place seemed legit so I had to try it. It's located in a shopping plaza so there is plenty of parking. There are several restaurants in the area, while Niko Niko is tucked away near the water fountains out front. As I arrived, they quickly sat me at the bar area and my typical rainbow roll and I tried their snow cone roll. The rolls were so good and the fish was fresh! I loved the sweet sauce that was added to the snow cone roll. After about 20 mins, the chef, who's name is Yaser, started asking me what my favorite fish is and why I like it. I told him Albacore and he instantly makes me some concoction with ponzu sauce which was fire. He then asked me if I like salmon and I told him yes and he makes me a seared salmon roll with orange sauce and pepper. By this time I'm stuffed but enjoying this experience. He made going to a sushi restaurant interesting again like when I first tried sushi. We start talking about Japan and he ask me if I ever had salmon skin. I tell him absolutely not and that when I bake salmon I usually take the skin off. He then tells me that I HAVE to try a salmon skin handroll so I figured I should just go with it. My mind was blown!! I actually like salmon skin lol. It was so good! Overall, I had an amazing experience at Niko Niko and Chef Yaser. I left him a generous tip for the experience and he changed the way I will forever dine at a sushi bar now. If you're in the area, please stop at Niko for some fresh tasty sushi and an excellent sushi experience with sushi chef's that know what they're doing. OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

The dine-in location is kinda speakeasy-esque, located down a spiral staircase and behind the sliding door mural. There is also a much more visible touchpad ordering system for orders to-go. Interestingly, the to-go menu is more expansive and includes rolls, whereas dining in does not. The dine-in seating is also all counter seating, wrapped around in a U configuration where you can see the food prepared. My friend ordered tuna sashimi and miso soup while I got scallop and salmon skin cut rolls. For a weekday evening, there was a steady stream of customers stopping by to pick up orders, and a few others dining in. The staff were nice and it was neat seeing everything prepared right in front of us. I also enjoyed seeing the omakase that the couple next to us had ordered. The space feels pretty underground (because it is), with small windows coverings that I think lend to the ambience. It is a bit tricky to find because it appears closed from the outside, so maybe better signage to slide the door open would be helpful. I'd be interested to try the special rolls that are to-go only. They looked amazing as they were being packed!

Some notable dishes were the sizzling beef with black pepper, beef scallion rolls, honey walnut chicken, mapo tofu, and fried chicken. The dishes that could be improved for flavor were the vegetarian steamed dumplings, steamed whole fish, and beef chow fun. We probably ordered around 8-10 plates (all dishes came with rice) and many arrived at the same time. The prices were very reasonable for the portions and it was just enough for everyone.
