This place is great for memorable occasions. The best part of the service is definitely sitting at a grill and having the entertainment of the chef preparing the food directly in front of you. Make sure if you want something customized (or deviated in any way from the prescribed menu) that you stress that to the CHEF and not to the waitstaff. For anyone looking for a less social occasion (or just faster service) should request to sit at a table instead--the food is just as good, but it gets served much faster by the kitchen. Okay actually went last night but woke up hungry so writing my review now.....went to the sushi bar ....okay but small portions ....my husband ordered an appetizer as his dinner which came out with my salad both were great but then 30 mins later I still had NOT received my entree my server who up until I received my salad was very almost overwhelming attentive after I got my salad I never saw her again....my husband questioned the manager who apologized and brought my entree ten minutes later ........I said jokingly ......this is free right????? She flat out said no offered no discount to my meal or nothing. So I told her I didn't want it and she snatched the plate back. Mind you the restaurant had 2 table filled it was 8:30 on a Tuesday. A: Shrimp Tempura - til this day, I still love their shrimp tempura roll, sweet, crunchy and filling, I'm a little bias because I quite some memories here B: Hibachi Grill - I think they're the only hibachi grill in the town, I loved marinated steaks. We walked in at 8:15PM. My fiancée and I asked for a table for two, not at the grill. The waitress acted like we were speaking a foreign language and then said, I'll be right back. She disappeared for 5 min then came back, walking past 4 sets of empty two person tables, and said, " oh it'll be a 5-10min wait for seating for 2 people." Despite seeing there was open seating, we decided to wait it out. 30 minutes later we still weren't seated, and the same 4 tables were still open. The wait stuff were all sitting at the front of the house, by the bar. It seemed like everyone had time on their hands, and yet we still weren't seated. We left. We will seriously reconsider if we ever want to eat here again. We've had good experiences in the past, but this one has definitely left us with a sour taste. read more

Their food is among one of the best in town. A low key, upscale Japanese hibachi spot, with a familiar Japanese menu. Great ambience with the cooks and their predictable jokes (now adding some Dr Pepper to your rice (barbecue sauce)) If you're into that, with great customer service, you'll love it at Tokyo's. The mood is both personal with booths/tables, or social at the hibachi tables. We once had a great conversation with a musician and his wife, while one of the cooks had never had a drink before, but said it was his personal favorite. I believe you'll have a great time there. Tonight we came in with a party of +6, with reservations from over a week ago and still they weren't ready for us. The staff was polite but very very slow. It took 2 attempts and a visit from the managing staff (twice also) to get our simple drink order correct, 6 soft drinks 2 beers and 1 wine correct. The chef portioned out the wrong food 3 times in the midst of serving our prepared food and had to make 2 re-visits to the kitchen after plating the wrong food on the wrong person plate. What makes this stand out in my mind the most is that he confirmed our order amongst us upon arrival to the table prior or cooking and was correct...wow. Beyond all this, what makes me the most disappointed in my experience is that fact there was an 18% added "service" charge to our bill. What a sham. I am a firm believer in tipping properly, as I and other members in my family have at some point worked in the hospitality industry. This isn't fair to the customer and only cost the employees...I took an extra minute too Re-visit with the managing staff (which I learned was the owner) and was informed it was "company policy." Moving forward I will avoid Tokyo steakhouse, and am completely disappointed in the establishment post renovation. Automatically came with fried rice (good portion, but not great taste). Received 2 sauces with meat (ginger and presumably yum-yum). Came with small side salad w/dressing (no soup). Asked for hot sauce and got sriracha. Had to ask for a drink while waiting for the food (which food didn't take long). Not bad for $20...! read more

My friend and I are on a mission to eat sushi at 30 different restaurants in a year's time. In this quest we decided to eat at Tokyo Steakhouse, which has a sushi bar. We ordered five rolls total--two of which were spicy tuna. Allow me to say, that the sushi at Tokyo Steakhouse and unequivocally the worst sushi we have ever had in our lives. Grocery story sushi tastes like it was make by Jiro himself compared to the sad rolls served to use. Our waitress even commented as to how off the spicy tuna rolls (whose consistency was that of tuna pureed in a blender to be more of a liquid) looked off, and removed the charges from our bill. The Dynamite roll featured canned jalapeños instead of fresh sliced jalapeños. And, to add insult to injury, the rolls themselves didn't hold up when trying to pick them up with chopsticks. It was a sad state of affairs. The only saving grace of the entire experience was that neither of us became ill in the days to follow. Takeaway: Stick to the hibachi. read more

I had the worst experience as a customer that I've ever had. My boyfriend and I were traveling from the West Coast and loved this place the last time we came to vacation here since his family lives near by. We arrived a bit after 9PM but assumed we still had some time to finally enjoy some good sushi, which is what we experienced last time. We walked into the building around 9:05 PM and no one approached us utill around 9:10 PM, which I already figured was because no one wanted to help us. We only notice that they close around 930 when we got there but we figured we still had almost half an hour to order some rolls to go. I explained my situation to the lady in the front desk and she apparently had to ask if it was OK if we can order food. She came back and said that they stop serving around nine even though there was still a half an hour left to order just two or three rolls to go. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and I know they had the ability to. They refused to serve us and I walked out feeling like I wasn't a valued customer. I contacted right after to speak to a manager and I explained my situation to her, I was assuming that she may understand that as a restaurant you should either accommodate your customers or write on your website or in front of the building that you stop serving at 9 PM. Nowhere was it clearly stated that they stopped serving around that time. I travelled so far and was very excited to be able to eat here as our last experience was pretty good. It was my one year anniversary with my boyfriend and all I wanted was just 2-3 rolls to go but no one in the facility was willing to accommodate or even remotely help us even though they clearly had the ability to. I tried to let the manager understand that it wasn't my intention to go in only 5 minutes after they stopped serving even though they don't advertise that, I could not control the time I arrived as traffic is not something I have the ability to manage. I just feel as a manager you would take that into consideration and at least compromise in some way. The only response I got was that the person who does the website is out sick, which apparently means they can't advertise that they stop serving at 9 PM or accommodate us. I will never step foot in this place again, a good restaurant goes above for their customers and doesn't make them feel under valued. To be fair, I am not reviewing on the food but rather ONLY on customer service and very poor management. The last time I was here the sushi was pretty good, which is why I took time out of my day to go there for a few rolls TO GO on my anniversary. The only reason why I'm giving them a two star rating instead of one is because I did enjoy the food the last time I was here. This time they were just clearly too lazy to accommodate me. Don't advertise that you close at 9:30 if you aren't going to actually serve anyone passed 9 and also not advertise that, it literally doesn't make sense. read more

Probably one of the top restaurants I've ever been to! The shrimp & chicken cooked in front of you on the grille is awesome. They have great dipping sauces, as well as appetizers like soups and salads. The waitresses and chefs are always very polite and exceptional. Found this place on Google. Since I don't live here and was looking for a good sushi place. It was good. Wasn't disappointed at all, but my boyfriend didn't seem to like this place. I don't know why. We as a family love this restaurant. Great place to celebrate birthdays or an anniversary. We always make a reservation if going on a Saturday. We arrived this Saturday to a packed house but were greeted cordially by the beautiful hostess. We were seated as assured within 15 minutes of arrival. She even thanked us for being a few minutes early and that our party of 8 were all present. The very attentive server was polite and knew her job well. The chef, as usual, was exceptional. My hopes weren't too high here after reading the mixed reviews but I was staying next door in a hotel and didn't feel Iike driving anywhere. Lexi was my server and gave me awesome service. The side salad dressing was great and the miso soup was the best I have ever had. I'm not a big sushi guy so I went for the grilled steak & shrimp. Servings were very generous. The steak cubes were a tad tough but still edible and the shrimp was delicious. My only major complaint was the size of my highball glass for my Captain-N-Coke (technically Pepsi here). It was basically a glass Dixie cup. I don't think they skimped on the rum but they definitely skimped on the cola. I would probably return but would order beer or a soft drink. read more

The hostess brought me my food. I asked if there was YumYum sauce and she said there should be. I told her I was going to check, opened the bag and no sauce. Asked her if I could have some and she said it would be $1. Ummm, how do we go from it should be in the bag to charging for it?! Get home and open the food. I will start by saying this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. While it is on the pricey side it was always worth it in the past. That being said, We brought our son here for his birthday because he had never been before and wanted to experience the open hibachi style cooking. Our server and chef were wonderful as well as all employees we encountered. I was slightly upset when they sat a group of people at our table that were not only rude but disrespectful on more than one level. I understand there is no personality/compatibility test at the door, but be smart about sitting a group of very young people with a family. Overall, I would rate the food as ok. Very heavily seasoned/sauced, so much that we couldn't actually taste the meat and veggies. Suggestion - lighten it up a bit. read more
