I looked over at some other folks eating meat over rice, and those looked like better offerings. Sadly, the ramen was on par with dorm room cooking and should be avoided. The noodles were actually not half bad, it was everything else that let it down. And what was up with dining in out of a paper soup bowl? The pork slices were dry and bland. Not even a good soak in the just salty broth could wake it up. Interestingly half of the bowl was filled with bean sprouts. In itself that's not a problem, but it meant that it took up room that could have been occupied by some other treats. Not a ramen stop by any means. From the front, the store looked nondescript, but when you entered, it was surprisingly (and thematically) well decorated! I immediately was greeted by an enthusiastic "how are you." The owner(?) was so friendly! It did smell kinda weird, but i was to-go ing so it wasn't a problem. Ordered the teriyaki chicken and it was pretty good and sizable for the price! Since it was so sizable it did get too one-toned towards the end, but it definitely intrigued me enough to want to try their other dishes. I mean, the dish was simple, but it was done properly. First time there. Huge portions, so unless you are starving or want to share, get the smaller size. I had teriyaki chicken and a salad. Chicken was mostly good, but had a good share of dry pieces. It also could have used a little bit more teriyaki sauce, and green onion, but otherwise it was delicious. The salad was fresh, but the ginger dressing is too watered down. They should taste their dressing and adjust how watery they make it because it was like ginger water. For the price you can't beat it and it's authentic Japanese. Plus they were practicing safe distancing and wear masks in front, but I don't know about the cooks wearing masks. read more

The food here is great, and the service is also stellar. My two star review is due to the excessive use of styrofoam and plastic packaging. I used to eat here regularly, but I have stopped because I feel uncomfortable with the amount of non-biodegradable garbage I was producing. There is really no excuse to continue using styrofoam when there are so many modern alternatives on the market. Even when you eat in the restaurant, they serve all food in styrofoam. Looking at all the reviews seems like either I ordered the wrong dish or the chef was on break and someone else made the dish. Chicken in Chicken Katsu was nothing like I ate in other Japanese restaurants, it was hard, dry and no flavor. The food was greasy so kimchi or pickles would have been a nice addition. The vegetables were fresh and had a nice crunch still. The mix consisted of zucchinis, carrots, and cabbage. The charred carrots were really good. They tasted like sweet potatoes when roasted more black. I wish they were grilled more longer. On the same note, the rangoons needed to cook a little longer. They were a bit doughy, but still tasted fine. I was expecting cream cheese only, the crab was a pleasant surprise. It's out of the way, but I will probably be back. Hard as rock chicken pieces which again had an orange sauce dumped on it.. mall food court style! When me and my girlfriend needed some Japanese food quickly, we went here. It was close, cheap, and looked pretty darn Japanese to us. When we got there, I knew we had chosen well. The customers, the staff, the surrounding buildings; all pointing to the fact that this little shopping center had been established by Japanese people, and was still being run by them. The man who took our order was patient with us, who had walked in having no clue what to get. I got the Curry Pork, and my girl got the pho (or ramen, I don't remember). The curry was great. I've been going here for lunch for over 6 years now. Clearly a family owned joint that cares about making each customer feel valued and welcome. Listen, it's not the greatest food in the world, but for the price and service it's damn good! I LOVE the hot and spicy chicken or beef. My mouth waters very time I think about smothering it in Sriracha sauce. The veggies and rice are good, but there are times the veggies could be fresher. There are other times it's great though. I usually ask for extra veggies so i can pretend I'm being healthy. Well, that, and the fact that they don't give you much with the regular sized plate. The extra veggies are free too. The teriyaki chicken is very good as well as the bulgogi. The food is cooked fresh and the service tells you that they are really doing everything they can to make you happy. Check it out for a quick lunch, but beware there can be long lines around 12:45. It's hit or miss. If its too busy check out the Original Hoagie Shop next door for amazing food and service as well. read more

Really not impressed. At all. I judge a Japanese restaurant by their katsudon. In this case, it was really "ma ma"--"not so good" in Nihongo (Japanese). As a matter of fact, I quit eating it after the second bite and ordered a tonkotsu ramen. This was definitely not a traditional katsudon. Instead of a sliced katsu, steeped in shoyu sauce base with cooked mixed egg and onion slices on top of rice, it was sort of chunks of katsu with sort of egg mixed in with large chopped pieces of onion sort of mixed in with rice--and no shoyu-based sauce. Very dry. Not appetizing. And the katsu was over-cooked and somewhat tough. I would give this katsudon only 1.5 stars. The ramen was better. Decent broth, decent ingredients. However, there was way too much bean sprouts in it which totally got in the way of enjoying the noodles. I really didn't like it being served in a paper cup/bowl, either. I would give the ramen 3 stars. I had a bite of my wife's yakisoba. It was OK, not great. Maybe 2.5 or 3 stars. Service was very friendly. I do not think he is Nihonjin, though or else he really does not know the language because the little Japanese I spoke to him in Japanese tradition, he kind of mumbles something inaudible back. read more

Small establishment that just kept getting more people. I'm a first timer and I think my wife and I chose a good spot. Kind of hard to park as it's in a very small strip mall type location. Not a lot of seating but the service and food are above average. Portion sizes are more than enough. My wife has the hot and spicey dish which was a little dry but tasted good. I had the G lunch box which was good and could have been better if I ordered the fried rice instead of white. Quick service makes this a good place for a grab and go type lunch break. The combo chicken teriyaki with veggies is good. A large is food enough for three people easily. Unless you are completely famished. The green tea they have makes you feel like you are cleaning out all the impurities from the weekend and putting something good in your body. They have a limited delivery zone and it has to be over $20.00. Oh I almost forgot the potstickers are good too. This place is still going strong during the pandemic. Maybe one or two dine in seats, otherwise I get it to go. All employees have masks. I always order the lunchbox combos here, so I can't comment on anything else. They are pretty sizable portions so I usually get about two lunches worth out of one order. A great balanced lunch as well for one price ~8$. My main pick is chicken teriyaki (they also have yakisoba and a spicy veggie entre I think) , comes with rice, salad or edamame, and choice egg roll, crab puff, gyoza, or California roll, and a drink (I usually pick green tea) Can't beat it check their menu for exact combos. read more
