Great place to celebrate life's events! Everything is so classy! The owner is very hands on. Food is perfect!

Smh. Went here for friends birthday we all walked in, the hostess told my friend that her reservations had been canceled. Mind you they called her earlier in the week to move up her reservation time and she had confirmation email regarding her reservations the day before. So when the hostess confirmed my friend's phone number, oh so sorry we called the wrong number and woman answered and we told her we were canceling the reservations and she was like ok. Magically we are able to get seats. Also, what kind of place cancels your reservations the day of with no email or text confirmation? So they told my friend that they would not seat us until our whole party arrived. We were waiting for 1 friend to arrive, then walks in another party that have reservations and their whole party is not all there (I believe they are missing 2 or 3 people), but they are seated right away with no problems. Still some is not right. Get to our table and there are printed menus that are stapled together. Just no, no, no no. Appetizers are between 10 to 20 bucks. And the entrees start at $20 and they don't look back. I ordered the mean green egg rolls were the best thing that I ate there. Order my entree of shrimp and grits. As we are waiting for our food our waitress (who by the way was amazing) tells us that our food is coming up. Couple mins later we hear a crash of plates. I said that was our food lol. And yes it was our food. 3 people at our table did not get their food with the rest of us. My shrimp and grits arrive presentation sucks. And I see nothing but raw green onions on my dish. I taste the roux first, no. Too much onion flavor. Then I eat a shrimp and there is NO seasoning on the shrimp. The shrimp was chewy and lacking flavor. I just couldn't eat. And I knew that I could not take it home, cause it would be waste of my time to put it in a to-go box and take it with me. Then my friend brought in an outside cake for her birthday and she stated no candles just bring it to the table. And the friend who brought in the cake stated where did they get the candles from cause I did not bring them? Who put candles on a cake during a pandemic? They do, just not responsible at all. So, I guess Tom Brown came over to see how our table was doing. As my friend was cutting her cake, he asked who's birthday? She replied it was her birthday. And he said why are you cutting your own cake? Because you all did not do that. I get it, not your dessert but you could have help a girl out. After shelling out $50 for 1 person (and I did not order a drink) is WAY to much for this place. I mean if, they did not want us there from the beginning they should have stuck to their guns that "we called and canceled your reservation." So we could have taken our money somewhere else, and food would have been better, and we would be treated like human beings. Please, do not go here at all, the food is horrible, the hostess is horrible, horrendous and lack common sense (read the room) we knew you were lying when you made up the story about canceling, and Tom Brown should be ashamed of how is business is ran. Take your coins to Char, Commerce Kitchen, Cotton Row, Nicks, Connors, or Rhythm on Monroe they will not disappoint food will be on point for the price you pay. read more

Restaurant is a new concept no table cloths, no ceiling covers , chandeliers lights are seen and appreciated, hanging Christmas tree is unique. Ambiance 4/5 Service : server was nice and courteous my wife and I clearly explained to her no spices in our food please or butter, she stated no problem. Bread was tasty with a sweet crunchy taste. Glasses with water and a straw in each glass was a good touch. My onion soup came fast had good flavor Food took at least 25 min in coming acceptable I ordered Chargrilled medium Chinook Salmon with steamed vegetables My wife ordered Mahi Mahi with steamed vegetables request was to please avoid pepper or hot spicy in the food. Well my salmon was excellent, well cooked, the steamed vegetables the cauliflower and broccoli needed more time to be steamed they were not soft, zucchini and yellow squash, julienne carrots and red pepper were soft. There was a couscous side which the server didn't tell us and it was spicy. The issue why a give this restaurant 3 stars came with my wife food which she stated it was spicy and could not eat it in addition her vegetables were hard and due to health reasons she may not eat spicy or uncooked vegetables , we called the manager , Tom the owner came and stated he had tried the food from her plate ( yeah right!) and it was not spicy? Well I didn't hesitate paid the 106 dollars the dinner was and left 24 dollars for the server and left. My wife was not happy at all. Bone Fish Grill has better service. Tom if I invited my wife to eat to your expensive restaurant is because I have the means to pay it, the steps you took telling my wife she is a liar are not of a good manager or restaurant owner that I have encountered in my past experience, you have lost a customer that would have enjoyed a tasty salmon or a steak in your restaurant. Please be careful with your future customers and give them the benefit of their own taste buds and make sure your servers take the proper orders for the sake of your customers. Everything was fantastic! Food, service and ambiance was terrific! We have recently moved here and have struggled to find really good restaurants. Tom Brown's is definitely an excellent restaurant. One of the best rib eyes I have ever had, loaded baked potatoes perfect, salmon excellent and carrot cake was delicious without being overly sweet. Love everything about this resturant- the atmosphere is amazing, decorated beautifully (our waitress told us the owner's daughter did all of the art pieces-stunning!), bar is classy & gorgeous! We will be back to visit, if anything for drinks & dessert. Started with the mean green egg rolls. He got salad and I got the bisque while we waited on our entree- bisque was soo good? Make sure you get a customer profile done . (If you eat at TB more than once) wasn't asking for much..just a close table to accommodate my bilateral legs..but they couldn't do that...sat our party in the back. TB visited our table near the end of our meal..my daughter & I told him about the problem with seating...pointed out tables were moved up front..let me quote him.."those people eat here a lot? Put that info in Your customer profile? your special need?" Wow..special treatment if you eat there a lot? TB..try accommodating your customers..they might return. As for the food? ordered crab cakes...my Mom made better ones in the 70's. My final thought...My prosthetics will not cause sores everyday..they will heal. But TB will always be a Pos. read more

While visiting Madison, Alabama during the December holidays, my daughter, Kim, and her husband, Christopher, treated us to dinner at this unassuming little gem. Ambiance is simple and lovely. Chairs are noticeably more comfortable than most in a restaurant. Service commenced almost before we were seated. Drinks arrived promptly, the food was terrific and the staff very accommodating. The meal was so good that I mentioned returning the next time we visit the area in February. It is important to note that the servers asked and made note of allergies; all of the food was fresh and not processed and the meal so good we had no room for dessert. Ok. First and most important, the steaks were fantastic and the wine was excellent. Our server was skilled, pleasant, and engaging. I'd definitely go back. However, this place seems to be a tad confused. The post-modern-industrial-meets-French-provincial decor couple with an eclectic music selection featuring a wide assortment of musical talent including one particular set led off my the ever-soothing and dulcet tones of Guns and Roses' classic love song Welcome to the Jungle followed by the raucous melody by Alison Krauss, I Hope You Dance, and concluded with the Bangles (you know which song) was especially interesting. We were so excited to visit for the first-time last night based on all the reviews and feedback we heard from family and friends. However, except for our wonderful waitress (Elizabeth) and the decor we were so extremely disappointed. We never complained once as we hoped the meal would improve but to have had a $194 (before tip) meal/date and left disappointed I can't say we will be back to try again. The food was very unpleasant. Starters: shrimp cocktail was very dry and tasted old. The cocktail sauce was better than the shrimp. The tiny shrimp folk was cute but when the shrimp tasted the way it did, I only wanted to jam it in my hand. The cheese balls again didn't have the best taste and were cold on the inside. Caesar salad tasted like it came from a $3 Caesar salad bag mix from WM, lacked seasoning and dressing. The free rolls and butter were the highlight of the entire meal! Main entrees: we both went with ribeye steaks, garlic mashed potatoes and the Brussel sprouts. Steaks were not seasoned, and one was uncooked to order. Garlic mashed potatoes were nothing but garlic and after two bites made us stop. Brussel sprouts cold and way too much sauce was added to them when served. We skipped dessert as at this point, we were just so upset and disappointed with the way everything tasted. I was really shocked as it was not even close to what everyone else had said. If it hadn't been for our waitress being so nice to us, we would have said something. Also, they had some guy, a manager, bouncing around from table to table with an earpiece in, checking on table's way too much to the point where we couldn't finish a story with his interruption. He finally found a table with two young ladies and spent the last 30 mins leaning against one of their empty dinner chairs talking with them and taking up the aisle where he was bent over causing guests to go around when leaving, heading to the bathroom, etc. Overall, when you spend $194 (before tip) on a dinner/date night expecting some good food and atmosphere you expect to receive both. We were not that lucky. I would have preferred to have gone to Ruth Chris were the have consistent food/results for that amount of money. It reminded me of the old lipstick on a pig trick. They trick you with a nice building/location, lovely decor, somewhat pleasant staff, fancy shaped dishes/glasses and then just AWFUL food. I hope they find a better kitchen manager and chef before opening another location. read more

Tonight was our first time at Tom Brown's, and we were also celebrating a birthday! We have been wanting to try this place for a while and it certainly didn't disappoint. We had some freaking awesome service from Demetrius all night. We even had two managers come check on us. Both the food and the drinks were incredible. Highly recommend the fried crawfish tails as an appetizer. And the white chocolate blueberry cheesecake? TO DIE FOR. Overall, it was a bit pricy but seriously it was worth every penny. Love the food at Tom Brown's! We have eaten here several times and we're very satisfied each time. The atmosphere can be loud and busy. I add this because it is not really the dark, quiet restaurant you might go to for a romantic dinner. High ceilings, musics playing gives it a different vibe which is fine as long as you are not expecting dark and quiet. Definitely recommend for a nice dinner out. read more

Truly the worst experience we've had at a restaurant in a LONG TIME. We were a table of 4 and arrived at 445. We waited about 15 minutes before we got our drink order. We ordered apps and got them in about 30 minutes. Never got bread and butter until our meal arrived. The margarita was the worst margarita I've ever had. It tasted like tequila and lime, no other flavor. When we asked the waiter to replace the drink she told us "they don't allow that" and offered to take the OG drink back to the bar and have the bartender add to make it taste better. Mind you there was one sip and it was a full glass. We opted to get rid of the margarita and said we would just pay for something else because it was gross. Thankfully they did take the margarita off the ticket. Firecracker shrimp was good as always, but the crab claws were tough and hard to chew. Flavor was bad and smelt like old fish. Meat was tough and hard to chew. Everyone's food was SUB PAR to say the least. The worst part of the experience was the service, the crab claws, the lobster, and the drinks. Now we are very familiar with this restaurant in fact we have been here many many times. This is by far the worst experience we've ever had here and completely opposite of what we used to know and love about this place. We enjoy spending money on GOOD food and good drinks. But spending $500+ dollars on this meal was just despicable. When we asked about the bartender we remembered the waiter was quick to mention he had been fired. Very obvious because the drinks were horrible. After we got our food we wondered if the chef was also fired because the whole place had went down hill. The lobster was so tough I had to use a knife to cut it. My husband almost choked trying to chew and swallow it because it was so hard. The paper kit drink tasted like motor oil. 70% of the meal was have been wasted and we didn't leave until 7PM. We spent over 2 hours and $500+ on the WORST meal and experience we've encountered in a long long time. In fact after we got our apps and first bad drink we should have just left realizing the place has done a 180. But since we had such great experiences in the past we stayed hoping it will all a fluke. Wishing we would have spent our money else where. read more

My wife and I went for an early supper and were very pleased with the food and friendly, professional service. We both had the ribeye which was extremely flavorful, tender and cooked to perfection, mine medium rare and her's medium. The wedge salad was outstanding and large enough to share. The roasted Brussel sprouts had just the right amount of char without tasting burned and the pork belly cooked with them was delicious. The decor is great which is basically why this place is so expensive, the food was average. I was disappointed. I ordered mussels and had to pick out broken shell pieces from half my order. The fish I ordered was not seasoned at all and was very bland. The bread was ok though we got ours half way through the meal, the beer was great! Went to Tom Browns tonight to celebrate our anniversary. The Ono fish I had was even better that the ones I had when I lived in Hawaii. But if you go know it is $$$$ or more. They did give us a free class of sparkling wine. The carrot cake was excellent but not worth $12 a slice. It was a big piece but no bigger nor better than City Cafe's which is only $7.50 a slice. Bottom line is food was excellent and wait staff superb but it is at least 25% over priced. So for special occasions it would be OK but definitely not any better than Conners. However the food is better than the Bottle. read more
