I don't know if this is a case of "can't find good help anymore" or something else. I use this location to service my VW b/c it's close to home and I would like to think a VW dealership would be the best place to get it serviced. While I got services completed that fell under the "free" category at the beginning of my ownership, service was fantastic. Once those were used up, the service has dwindled. Today pushed me over the edge. I had routine service plus a tire rotation done 2 days ago. Yesterday, a sensor light signaled me to check my tire pressure, so I called and was told to come in today and that no appt was necessary. When I arrived, I explained to Tech-A, who greeted me, my reason for the visit and was told they'd check tire pressure and reset the sensor. He explained that this is commonly overlooked- I get it. I told him that I'd just wait for this to be done. I waited in the customer waiting area with 3 other people. More than an hour and 20 minutes passed with no contact from anyone to me, all the other customers had been approached once to explain how their service was going, and then again when their service had been completed. So I went to check. As Tech-A worked at his computer, Tech-C helped me. At this point I realized my car was EXACTLY where I left it in the drop-off bay. I stood there this time- instead of heading back to the waiting area- and watched Tech-C check the tires. When he returned to his station he explained all the tires had the right pressure and he would now check to see that the sensor light had been reset. At that point Tech A looked up and nonchalantly said, "I already checked that the sensor had been reset." I sat for over 80 minutes dumping photos on my phone while this whole task took less than 10 minutes? I don't know if this is because it was a no-pay service, or what. But, pay or no-pay (and in this case clean-up from a pay-job not completed properly) the same job should be completed with equal pride and competency. I truly hope no other sensors come up, as I will develop negative suspicion. I am also still waiting to see this most recent service show up in my app. I expect and accept a short delay as I know clerical stuff sometimes takes extra time.. Side note: the indoor waiting area is quite nice! Unfortunately, the outdoor bench should one decide to wait outside is placed under a "bird hang out" and therefore is covered with bird droppings. Bottom line: proceed with caution to TW VW! read more

rarely leave bad reviews, but this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. My son took his car to Tom Wood Volkswagen on Aug. 4 while we were out of town. The car is under warranty. By Thursday, we still hadn't heard back, so he called and was told his car hadn't even been looked at because the employee who checked it in had been fired. No apology was offered. On Friday, they finally ran a diagnostic but claimed there was a "warranty discrepancy." The warranty company confirmed approval, while Tom Wood insisted they were still waiting. They didn't start work until late Friday afternoon but promised it would be ready by 8 a.m. Saturday. Instead, the car wasn't finished until 11:30 a.m. The service advisor was rude, dismissive, and couldn't explain the labor or parts costs, which appeared inflated. I later called the warranty company myself and was told Tom Wood Volkswagen overcharged compared to MSRP. I left multiple messages for the GM and service manager--none were returned. Even after meeting with a team manager in person and being reassured I'd get answers, no one followed up. This dealership clearly does not value its customers. Save your time and money--there are plenty of other dealerships in the area that will treat you with honesty and respect. read more

My entire experience with this dealership from sales to service was full of high-pressure tactics, misleading information, and broken promises. When I went in to buy my car back in October, they kept my keys from me even after I repeatedly asked for them back so I could leave. I was stuck there for hours. Every time I said I was done, the salesperson would disappear "finding a better deal," yet every new offer made less sense than the last. I even had a written trade-in offer $5,000 higher than what they offered me, and they still refused to honor their posted sign that says they'll beat other offers by $500. They claimed it only applied "up to a point." Then they added a $3,000 package to the car I never asked for and wasn't told I could decline. The car listed around $28k turned into over $31k after I finally got the paperwork. Fast forward to service: I was told (twice!) that my first oil change would be free, even with my non-VW car. But when the car was dropped off, I got a call saying it would be $139. Suddenly no one remembered saying it was free. The lady checking out even told me to call the GM because what was happening "wasn't right." This entire business feels like a bad joke. I have a VW Atlas, purchased from Tom Wood. I have always enjoyed the experience at this location from purchasing to service. Some bullets on why: - friendly, service oriented staff - I can work there if I want to wait on service - good communication from Tom Wood to me during service - bright, clean facility Most recently, I had a tire issue while traveling and had to get tires at a tire shop. The tires were good, but the car didn't drive as well. The tire shop looked at it a few times and never made it better. They also tried to make me think that I was imagining it or that is just because of Indiana roads. I have worked with Hope in service at Tom Wood before. Last Saturday, the car started getting worse. So I drove it to Tom Wood VW. Hope was there. I explained what had been happening since March (it was June then) and that I wanted to see if they could check it out. Hope 100% understood the issue. Service checked it out, they fixed it while I waited and my smooth ride is back! I had to, of course, pay for the same service the tire shop was paid to do, but it was done better, and the cost at the dealer was less that I paid at the non-dealer. I almost want to just buy tires again from Tom Wood :) Great place, great service! read more

My family has purchased 4 cars from Tom Wood Volkswagen and of late the service has been ridiculously poor. I had my brakes replaced and a day later I am driving down 65 and the brake assembly came apart because it was not bolted back together. They put it back together for me but nothing other than that. I am lucky I was not seriously injured or killed. This is the most damning review you can give to a mechanic. I receive constant emails from them for service and for the 60K maintenance the quote was over 2.3K and I was able to get the same service quoted for $900. Need new tires and had received and email a couple of weeks ago about buy 3 get the 4th free and of course the program was no longer in effect. Finished with these guys. I will never return! Terrible experience. 3 trips in for a simple repair. Confirmed part in stock after being transferred 3 times to get pricing for repair and to schedule. Trip 1, asked if I needed any maintenance, said no as I am up to date, forced to sign a diagnostic fee agreement although I already knew what the problem was. Then 4 hours after.dropping off my car they send me a quote including $998 of maintenance work that "needed attention". Oil change for example, I still had 1,300 miles until I was due, spark plugs had been replaced within the last 9 months, brakes had been done and flushed, engine air filter new, none of it needed attention. Then they inform.me the part is not in stock after I had confirmed when I booked and they had my car all day. Rescheduled, trip 2 I am informed after several hours, that the part they have is faulty. Car is returned with TPS light on, and they tell me it's normal. It was 60° so it isn't normal for a tire light to be on. Might I say it was pouring down rain and I was in a dress and they were sending me on a 30 mile drive home. Trip 3, they finally performed work. I was told it was under warranty, yet when I went to pick up, they tried to charge me for the parts $374, which was more than I was quoted for the part. They tell me they washed my car for me, which they didn't. The kicker is that I noticed large deep scratches on the passenger rear bumper, like someone had jumped a curb. When I contacted them, the manager was supposed to call me. 2 days passed so I contacted them and was told that they tracked my car while it was there a d that it wasn't them. Mind you, this is the 3rd bad experience I have had with Tom Wood VW. One other time, it was their Noblesville location. I would not recommend them. I will not go back.​​ read more

If I could give zero stars to the service department, believe me, I would! This dealership earns it's low star rating for sure! First, they can't answer the phone. Second, they sure as heck don't return a message. Third, they told me I could make an appointment to drop it off for a diagnostic, but that they wouldn't be able to look at it for 72 hours. So basically, I can leave my car there over the weekend and a few more days, before they even look at it to decide if it's something they can fix. What happened to make an appointment and bring it in at that time? By the time I finally got a hold of someone, the lady answering the phone had to walk my question back to service, and then I got a snotty female on the phone who told me I was SOL unless I wanted to drop my car off for almost a week. What can I say, Mr Fernando Ortega was such a gent!! My husband and I have just moved to the US from Northern Ireland and we were almost ripped off from a different dealership due to being newbies and having blank credit. Upon a small google search, I saw that VW offered a foreign professional scheme meant for new immigrants to the US. We walked in on Saturday morning and was greeted by the entire team at the door, Fernando was the one who took us over to the desk. He was diligent, efficient and just an absolute pleasure to work with. He kept constant communication, told us exactly what docs we needed for this scheme. Over the following days, we kept in constant contact via phone and email with Fernando and we finally came in today, 4 days later, and signed everything and are ready to go. As newbies to the US, the credit and car situation was very stressful and difficult to deal with however Fernando managed our expectations right from the get go. We enjoyed our car buying experience at Tow Wood VW with John Pittman aka "Johnny R", a dealership YouTube star in the making. He was fair and went out of his way to get us a great deal. Once we purchased the vehicle and came home the Check engine light came on. We returned to the dealership by appointment. Chris took my car in. I waited 1.5 hours for the service to be completed. It was an easy fix as it was a glow tube sensor. The service area was nice and snacks were available. Snacks included fresh fruit, water, chips and crackers, coffee, tea, etc. a vending machine had sodas. Lots of cool VW merchandise showcased in the waiting area. It was all reasonably priced. Merchandise included vintage type Christmas ornaments, VW keychains, hats, shirts, tumblers, sunglasses and other groovy things. A private area let you work if needed. Phone charging station in place. Weird fact: the Women's restroom was the sweetest smelling public restroom I have ever been in... very nice! read more

Their sign out front advertising that they will give you $300 more than other offers for your car is a bait and switch. I took my car in with a $24,400 offer from CarMax. They took a copy of my offer then 20 minutes later come back with a different offer from CarMax for $22,200 and proceeded to offer me $300 over that offer. No explanation for the difference but on later examination they claimed in the data input form that the car had been involved in 2 accidents, thus resulting in the low offer. I did the logical thing and sold the car to CarMax for the amount originally offered by them. What a waste of time. I have purchased 4 cars from Tom Wood in the past, but never again. This was the absolute worst experience buying a car. The finance "manager" was completely incapable of doing his job. 1) I am an out of state resident buying this car from Indiana. I requested to do the paperwork either online via DocUSign or via an appointed power of attorney. I was assured that FedExing overnight paperwork was the quickest way to complete it. This process ended up taking 3 weeks, and ended with me still having to drive 7 hours to complete the paperwork. 2) The first time the paperwork was sent, my lien holder was not listed, therefore it had to be sent back. Once that was corrected, i received the paperwork again, over a week later. The dates were not corrected on the paperwork to reflect the current date (which was a new month). I used a single line through and initialed next to the new date that I denoted. I was then told that a "scratched out date" wasn't acceptable. Great, then do your job and have any sense of attention to detail and correct it. By that point, I decided to take a day off work to drive 7 hours and complete the process. I was told the dealership would send my title application to my state of residence. My temporary license plate was valid for 45 days and I would need to register my car within that timeframe. 3) 30 days later, I try to register my car. I waited so ensure that the paperwork was processed, as promised. I went to 2 different BMV offices and waited over 3 hours to find out that it was never sent by this dealership to the state. I was charged $100 for a titling fee and $15 for a "convenience" fee. It's not convenient to have to go and wait twice at the BMV because someone did not do their job. I am not in sales, or a finance manager- but it is obvious that this dealership does not take pride in attention to detail or customer satisfaction. Do not buy from this dealership. read more

If you can avoid this location--please do so and go elsewhere in the Indy area. Unfortunately, I did not have pleasant visits, nor did I receive the most excellent service. At the beginning of August, I scheduled a service--that is, installing a remote start for my car for Friday, August 5th. I was in touch with the parts department to get the parts, my understanding was that they were ordered and I would pay upon arrival, and my first service appointment was set. My appointment was at 9 am, but I dropped it off early at 7:30 am that Friday, & upon arrival, I was told my parts were never ordered; therefore, the remote start service had to be rescheduled/dismissed. Ok, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and still had two other services covered under warranty. I proceeded to leave my car and order the parts I needed and rescheduled the remote start installation. I received a call later that Friday at 4:30 pm and was told only 1 of the two remaining services was completed and that I would need to leave or bring my car back the following Monday to complete the service. Again my appointment was at 7:30 am Friday. After a long day, I received a call that only 1 of 2 services was completed; due to my profession, I could not return Monday and went elsewhere for the remaining service. Fast forward to today, I dropped my car off first thing in the morning, 7:30 AM, for my remote start installation; I dropped off the parts and was told I would receive a call when it's done later today (now Friday, September 16th). It was 5 pm, and Tom Wood Volkswagen closes at 6 pm. I called to follow up, thinking they were wrapping up, but I was told to bring it back Monday because my car had not been serviced. I was given the excuse that they were busy and needed to schedule an appointment, yet I had. Twice. A complete waste of time I spent here and money. Highly disappointed in the service and manner I was treated. Again, if you can, please avoid this location. *Long review ahead = I do not recommend Tom Wood Volkwagen* October 2020: I take my car to Tom Wood for an oil change, and I request that they install a car safe into my trunk. They did not decline the service, they merely just asked where I wanted the safe. 2 days later... my check engine light came on. November 2020: I take my car back to have the check engine light diagnosed, and they tell me that the fuel tank is leaking fumes (in particular - a valve over the fuel tank) and to repair it would be a $2,000 job. I decline for the time being - as they said my car was safe to drive. Flash forward to November 2021: I take my car to a different dealership for a an oil change and 130k factory check. I also request that they diagnose the check engine light without telling them its previous diagnosis. TURNS OUT, I had a hole in my fuel tank from when Tom Wood installed my car safe. After speaking with Emma at Tom Wood, I took my car back to Tom Wood to have the fuel tank replaced free of charge - since they were the one who put a hole in it. Tom Wood THEN GOES BACK ON THEIR PROMISE and told me that they wouldn't cover the costs since they diagnosed it last year. (They diagnosed it INCORRECTLY). After my dad negotiated with them, we got a $2,200 fix down to $1,000. I waited 3 weeks for my car to get done with poor updates from the service team. Horrible job by Tom Wood. If they didn't know how to do a job, they should've declined the service. Hate being out $1,000 for a mistake made by "professionals". I will not be returning to Tom Wood. read more

At the moment we thought was based on necessity, and we did not realize that till last minute after accepting the service that we had the same service 4 months ago back in VW California. We called for explanations and we got treated by the Service Manager, Larry, with total disrespect and without any possible courtesy as new clients in this local. Kudos to Tom Wood for the sleek new space - especially the waiting cafe area complete with baked sweets, coffee, fresh fruit and wifi. My only complaint/bummer: oil changes come with a complimentary exterior car wash and interior vacuum (front of the car) - - it seemed that I missed out on the vacuum portion of the gig. Purchased our son's pre-owned Jetta here a few years back. Pretty painless deal. Went in last week to replace one of our cars, and enjoyed a terrific experience (thanks in large part to Gary Baker). Returned a week later for some paperwork and wound up buying another vehicle. We just couldn't pass on the product, the financing offers and hey, we had fun buying two cars in one week, which was an extreme extravagance for us. Look, everyone hates buying cars. Typically, the main problem is that you just never walk away feeling like you got a good deal. We didn't feel this way this time around on either new car. They bent and so did we. But the product is amazing, and our experience with the service department in the past was outstanding. If you're in the market for a Volkswagen, it's worth a trip to the north side of Indy if they have the model you're looking for. My Tiguan was taken there on June 15, 2023. It was discovered that my engine would need replaced and thankfully I bought a warranty. The new engine was delivered to their service center by July 25th and I was told some additional parts needed to be ordered (which I was told about when given the original quote). I called and left so many messages and no one would return my calls. On August 30, I received a text message from Nathan saying he would check on what was happening with my car. On August 31, he texted and said that they were waiting on a turbo line to be delivered and should be in at the beginning of the following week. That was the last communication I had from anyone. I sent more follow up messages asking for updates with zero response. I left messages for Hope on Sept 20 asking for someone to please help me! Today, I got a text message saying that my car was ready and it was going to cost $1000 more than quoted. They have had my car for almost FOUR MONTHS. I have had to pay for rentals and ubers and borrow friends cars. I have moved my kid into college, had major surgery, and buried by father two weeks ago. And all I got was the text apologizing for my inconveniences and that my car was ready to be picked up. The lack of communication and updates and the total lack of respect is unbelievable. They have had my car since JUNE 15, 2023 with no sense of respect for communication. It's disgusting. read more

My 2009 Volkswagen Routan SE had a factory recall on the ignition switch and key fobs. We had no idea until a battery died that they failed to remove the physical, valet key from the old fobs and install them in the new ones. Leaving us potentially unable to enter the vehicle to access the battery without a locksmith. luckily, one of the sliding doors was unlocked! I contacted the service department and at first, got the run-around and no one would call me back. After additional contact attempts, Jennifer said they could order the keys, but would not be able to pay for it since it had been 5 years! They took our physical keys along with the old fob and left us without it, what does the length of time before we discovered this have to do with it? It couldn't possibly cost more than $20 to remedy their error, but instead, they wish me to file complaints and negative reviews? Fine, we will never do business with Tom Wood again, either. read more
