I used to be a regular customer and superfan. today I went, excited to eat their delicious food and was met with an absolute travesty. everything tasted like water. extremely bland, no seasoning, soggy, poor ingredient quality. in addition they charged me and my party for A SLICE OF LIME when we attempted to season their extremely bland food. someone in my party also has severe allergies and they used to be very accommodating but they were not and extremely rude today. apparently the only seasoning they use on everything is drenching it in water. overpriced and disappointed. will not be returning read more

I have been to the Stamford location on many occasions and probably will again. The Tomatillo in Cos Cob on E. Putnam ave. ..... Nope, never again. I walk in and there is one employee leaning on the taco bar talking to a friend who wasn't there to eat. Without a greeting the employee ask me "can I get you something?" Whenever I come to tomatillo I am greeted with Stale old sketchy looking meat with an expensive price tag. The rice is almost always bone dry and the ingredients look days old. When you step up to order the process is extremely rushed, even when no one is behind you in line, it's strange and uncomfortable. Basically it's like chipotles younger cousin who got held back a couple years in school. Hate to say it but it's time for this place to close up shop, Quality seems very low on there priority list. Went there the other day with a co-worker for a quick bite since I was in a hurry. Long story short, 1 star and I didn't even eat anything! Customer service!! Customer always right!! Don't argue with customer!! Any of these sound familiar in the employee handbook? Looking back at some previous reviews, unfriendly staff seems to be the standard here. I ordered 1 steak taco, 1 shrimp taco and a side of rice. Girl who makes the food behind the glass divider obviously didn't hear me and put rice on the tacos. Never asked if I wanted any salsa or anything. When I asked if I could put anything on the tacos, she replied nastily (real word?) that she asked me what I wanted and since I didn't answer, that's the way I was getting them. I told her I didn't hear over the screaming loud music and she decided to argue her point with me instead of just asking me how I'd rather have them made. Obviously I had a good case since she didn't hear me about the rice!! No matter though with this woman. She was right and I was wrong. At one point, she even slid the tray to me and said "you WILL pay for these" after I offered to leave. I did end up getting stuck paying for my co-workers lunch bowl since he was already served. His was $7 or so. I used a $10 bill and I didn't get any change. Needless to say, I walked out... One of the other girls there actually tried to salvage things and it almost worked except for the nasty sneers and dirty looks I was receiving from the first employee by this time. I actually took a picture of her while she was giving me dirty looks and told her I would use that as my Yelp review photo. She threatened me if I did!! In front of other customers believe it or not. Moe, I know you have a few restaurants under your belt and your busy, but please find the time to train the employees on how to treat customers. You're 1 of about 5 taco places in the area right now. I live in the neighborhood and really wanted to like this place. There was large menu and a lot of options, and it was reasonably priced for the area. The service was horrendous though. I was there on a weekday at 12pm, and there were 2 people working behind the counter, with 1 more training. It took 5 minutes to place an order with only one party ahead of me. I can only imagine what the wait is like during the busy lunch hour! The "speciality drink" I ordered ame just as I was finishing my meal. Food was decent -- not the best, not the worst. Great addition to the neighborhood with reasonably priced food, but if the service does not improve, this will be another failed restaurant attempt in this space. read more

The portions for bowls and what is "stuffed" (hahaha) into the tacos are meager, paltry, slim, and likely satisfactory for a fat 3 year old. I went to this place a lot when it first opened. The flavors were pretty good and it was refreshing to get some new Latin food in town. The manager was exceptionally cold and most people you talk to around town will agree that she is not a nice person which does not make sense in the hospitality business. I am always greeted with a smile and great service when I am here. The menu is very straight forward and simple but there are many different combinations you can order something different every time. The staff will always recommend something if you are unsure or explain to you how to read the menu. It's very similar to Chiplote but the meat tastes fresher and there is more comfortable atmosphere. Greenwich's answer to Chipotle. Menu is set up very similar. Choice of fajita bowl, tacos, salad, or burrito. You choose the meat (or shrimp!) and all of the toppings. They even take orders on-line or by text like their franchise cousin. Food was very good, but they did not offer homemade hot sauce; only bottled Chiula's. They even had tres leches cake on the menu, which I will definitely get around to trying. This is across from my office, and very convenient for a quick lunch. read more

We did not get yelled at by the manager and the food was fresh. Taco salad had romaine lettuce, so not sure what the iceberg lettuce comment was about? Rice was also yummy with lime and cilantro. Maybe the manager is reading Yelp and taking cues. Tacos were good (braised beef, chicken, pork), filling is better than El Churrito but the wraps are flour rather than corn. While their food is superb, their service is lousy. I ordered some take out recently and it was nearly two hours late and when it arrives it was cold. The server offered no apologies. I am not one for superlatives but that is possibly the worst service I have had in my life. That really dishearten me as it is one of my favorite places to eat in Greenwich. Very nice atmosphere, with high ceilings, lots of natural light and good decor. Food was okay. My main issue was with the service: they acted super busy although there was no one there. This place is underrated, and I get why because they didn't open up in time or notice me and another customer standing outside for 5 minutes. But who cares. I ordered delivery tonight and there was more wrong than right. There was rice added to my tacos and I cant eat rice, so the whole order was shot with that. There were missing ingredients and added (unordered) ingredients. And the simple request for a fork and a side of dressing did not come with it. Food is nothing special. Definitely not as good as a chipotle. Everything I've had is pretty bland. Their Dirty Steak is stringy. Black beans have no flavor. Nothing rises above the fair level. Great burritos with all the options. I'm a big fan of the grilled chicken with the cilantro & lime rice, roasted corn, pic de gallo, guac, cheese and olives. A bottle of Mexican Coke finishes it off. Service is always polite and efficient, but can get backed up during the lunch rush. read more

Food is good, service is very poor. I used to go quite often when my son's school was close by. He loves the Quesadillas here so we do take out from here at least a couple of times a month. The service has deteriorated over the last couple of years. The manager has been friendly and customer oriented but some of the staff are either disinterested or downright rude. 2 weeks back when I got some takeout home I found the quesadillas were all burnt. I had to drive all the way back to get this exchanged. Who would send burnt quesadillas in the first place ? Were they hoping it would not be noticed ? Just yesterday I ordered again through Grubhub. While picking up I opened each box to check due to my previous experience. I noticed that a side of sauce was missing so I asked for it. The employee instead of checking rudely asks me if I ordered in the first place. Luckily the Grubhub order was right there in front of us and I pointed this out. This employee is one of the problems. He is a big guy who never smiles and is very gruff with the customers. Somebody should tell him that this is a customer service oriented business. I still like the food so I will stick to the Stamford location from now on though it is a bit out of the way for me. So sad since I used to really like this place. read more
