Our experience with a cute, straw hat waitress was absolutely horrible. She took approximately 10 minutes to ask what we wanted to drink once seated. We requested coffee and water. She brought the water first and another 10 minutes for the coffee. She then took our order and that was the last time we saw her. A young man brought us our food, which was half wrong. Never again we're we even given a coffee refill and had to request our check after about 20 minutes. I realize these are trying times with lack of staff but no coffee refill? We stopped in for lunch. The atmosphire is very nice..not a big menu and not to expensive. Seated right away but we waited almost an hour for our food. Food wasn't a disappointment. I got a mini tomato pie and a meatball sandwich made with chicken and feta cheese. Being from NY, i was surprised by the tomato pie. This was like a tomato pot pie not a pizza. It was very good. The meatball panini was also very good. My daughter got the curry chicken salad. Also very good. Curry flavor wasnt overwelming. Driving towards the town of Lititz is nothing short of entering God's country with it's spectacular and breathtaking countryside. For miles you will see nothing more than huge and immaculate farms, cars and horse drawn carriages. I was starving as we were hoping to find a local restaurant to have a good hearty breakfast in, but nothing was in sight as we passed farm, after farm, after farm. I began to envision coffee being brewed in the kitchens of the farm house, while the bacon was frying, the home fries were browning and young children were out gathering fresh eggs and I wanted in on it all... Hubby refused to knock on any of their doors and insisted there would be a good place to stop soon. Lo and behold we were entering Lititz, which is just a speck on the map and if you blink twice you will miss it, but oh my heavens there is so much to take in that trying to see a place for breakfast became a thing of the past. Hubby is saying are you looking for a place while I am saying oh look at the beautiful fountains and there is the chocolate factory and look there is the pretzel factory... Before we knew it we were at the end of Main Street, I would have been happy with chocolate or a pretzel or a chocolate covered pretzel, oh yeah!! We ventured over a street or two and ran right into Glassmyer's Restaurant, which is a very large and old yet well maintained building which used to be a Bed & Breakfast. Glassmyer's is located directly across the street from the Lititz Springs Park. It is the second oldest restaurant in Lititz and has one of the oldest soda fountains in Lancaster County, it is the only one left to still serve egg creams. I do believe the requirements for working there is to be very young or to be very elderly, I witnessed no one in between. The front of the restaurant has a large window with floor space that holds a table and chairs and scattered chairs with life sized collectible dolls enjoying treats from the ice cream fountain and bar. Once you enter from the covered porch you are greeted and asked to seat yourself in one of the two open dining rooms. We chose the back dining room which had lace curtained tall windows with vintage molding and afforded a great people watching spot. We each had an omelet, hubbies was of bacon, cheese, onion and peppers, mine was a spinach, mushroom, onion, tomato, peppers and Swiss cheese omelet. Each came with toast, I substituted an English muffin which they buttered and seared on the grill and now I will always want them this way as it was so good. Home fries were an extra dollar and we shared one order with peppers and onions and it was more than enough for the two of us. Glassmyer's is only open for breakfast and lunch and they are closed on Sundays, their prices are very low.. Many locals dine here as they all seemed familiar with each other. In all honesty it was one of the best omelets I have ever had, the spinach was fresh as were the mushrooms and the Swiss cheese was a good quality cheese, my belly was full and I was more than ready to go check out the town of Lititz. read more

The hubs and I came to check out the Tomato Pie Cafe for an early breakfast while we were in the area. Owned by the Fisher Family, the menu offers breakfast plates/sandwiches, salads, lunch/dinner platters, specials of the month, as well as beverages (coffees, lattes, soda, milk shakes, smoothies, teas, etc.). I started off with a cup of their Maple Spice Latte, made with cream (comes in 2 sizes) - this was absolutely delicious! A great balance of the maple spice flavor infused within, even with a latte art on top. It comes in a generous mug and it was a great hot beverage to start off in the morning. For my entree, I had their Tomato Pie (this came with a slice of their warm signature pie, served with your choice of rosemary potatoes, Parmesan grit cake, or fresh fruit). I opted for the Parmesan grit cake; the pie reminded me slightly of a quiche, but no egg involved - it contained shredded cheese with a heavenly crust on top. I'm wondering if the cheese should have been melted more or if it was going for the 'fresh tomato filling' type of a thing; either way, it was an interesting take on pie, but still a delicious slice (I probably would request it to be warmed a bit longer). The Parmesan grit cake was a little underwhelming, as it didn't taste like cheese, but it was cooked well. There was a small amount of fresh diced fruit (watermelon and cantaloupe). The hubs had their Maple & Spice French Toast, which were slices of brioche bread, dipped in their maple and spice batter. This came with a side of cinnamon honey butter (a cup of their pure maple syrup is at an additional charge, so keep that in mind)! This was pretty tasty with the maple and the spice concoction, and both the hubs and I thought it was one of the best french toast we've had in a restaurant! :D Our server was Mandi N., and she was attentive and pretty efficient. I live locally so I visit the Lititz location occasionally. I always choose a time when I know it won't be busy. So on a Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022 at 10 AM, I took my friend who was visiting from Chicago. As suspected, there were only 4 people in the dining room. I asked the hostess if we could have the table by the front window. She rather condescendingly told us that "that table is for 4 people". There were 3 four-top tables empty at the time. We were there for about an hour and not 1 of those tables was used. I have no complaints about this lovely cafe. The food and atmosphere are great. However, if that hostess is working the next time I visit, I'll turn around and eat somewhere else. read more

I will start off by saying the food has been amazing both times I've been here but this place is not family friendly. This last time I was very disappointed in the treatment my family and I received. When we arrived there were only 2 or 3 other tables and my son tried to sit down when the waitress asked him to wait to be seated (which was fine, but I could tell she was immediately annoyed despite the fact there was no sign stating to wait). Instead of seating us in the main room or anywhere downstairs (which was mostly empty), we were taken to the second floor and put in a room by ourselves. While we waited for our food my boys sat at another table in the room so they could look out over Main Street. The manager of the restaurant came in the room and very rudely reprimanded my kids for sitting at a different table than we were seated at. I get that some restaurants don't like kids -they make messes and create chaos- but my money is worth the same as anyone else and I always make sure to have my boys pick up after themselves. I didn't appreciate being banished upstairs like a second class citizen and then treated as an annoyance. This cute place seems to be a centerpiece in the quaint little town of Lititz. It's rather small, so you typically will see a bit of a waiting line out front, and the clientele widely vary from obvious tourists to peaceful townfolk to rather overt gays. The inside is quite charming, like you have stepped into the old world back in the 1800s. The waitstaff were super-friendly while my party and I were there; and the food was delicious. The menu is huge, but you must take into consideration that both breakfast and lunch/dinner are covered in it; the selection of lunch/dinner is rather modest. What an amazing gem to find! We stopped briefly in Lititz for Wilbur's chocolates and popped across the street for a snack, discovered patio seating out back and had a spectacularly lovely meal! I'm surprised by some of the more recent reviews; when I visited on New Year's Eve for lunch, I had not only impeccable service but delicious food. Lititz is such a cool, quaint town, and Tomato Pie Café is exactly what you'd want in a community meet up spot. When we arrived, it was right around noon and the place was bustling. Luckily, the lunch counter was open and we were able to grab seats right away. Our server arrived quickly, and we ordered tomato pie (what else!) plus a hummus platter because we were starved. Despite being packed, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time and the plates were actually larger than I expected. The pie was amazing, and that's coming from a Southerner who grew up with the recipe as a staple. It was also served with fresh greens and a savory herb scone, which paired nicely with the lemon and white balsamic olive oil they had sitting on the lunch counter. All in all, delicious! I want more as I'm writing this. The hummus was also great, drizzled with a high-quality olive oil and served with the most amazing naan bread (also roasted red peppers, kalamatas, and artichoke hearts). It was probably unnecessary to order this as well as the tomato pie, but I'm totally glad we did in order to try it. Overall, a must-visit café that certainly beats others in the area! read more

My wife and I can't give this place enough stars. The food was outrageously perfect. Nice quaint place with great atmosphere and super friendly staff. We both had the Tomato pie which is not a pizza. It's a pie with nice delicious chunks of tomato and this kind of light fluffy cheese on top all baked in a pie crust and served with either greens or chips. The food took over half an hour to come out, and the server told us that our food would be ready in "a couple of minutes" only to not show up with the food for another 15 minutes. We ordered the special pumpkin pancakes. When served they were lukewarm, and were missing the glazed walnuts. The server reheated them, but gave us a little attitude. Bites of the pancakes were very inconsistent, like the batter wasn't mixed enough...some tasted like egg, while another tasted like garlic. They also tasted very strongly of cashew milk, which was not mentioned anywhere. The fried egg and raspberry brie sandwich was much better, but the bottom piece of toast was soggy. The raspberry brie had a consistency more like jam than brie. There were also 4 or 5 pieces of melon and grapes on the side of the plate. Maybe there was supposed to be a fruit salad, but it slid off the plate on the way to the table? Lastly, we ordered tomato pie to go, and the server could not find it for a good 15-20 minutes. read more

Since the name of the place is Tomato Pie, I had to order a slice of "tomato pie", and it was delicious! A pie crust filled with roasted/seasoned tomatoes covered with a top crust of crisp cheese/dough. I was surprised how much I liked this. It was served with a side of mixed greens and a slice of herbed scone (a little confusing, but good). The other entrée tried was the salmon artichoke Panini, which was filled with cool salmon, artichokes, and olive tapenade. My wife enjoyed the Panini and all the ingredients were very fresh. The herbed lemonade was unique, but enjoyable, but the mocha coffee missed the mark. We found hipster heaven! After four days in Lancaster County, we hardly saw a young adult. We found them with all their attitude at Tomato Pie Cafe. If the food wasn't so good, we'd rate them lower. My husband and I grabbed lunch here on our way out of the area because it was recommend to us by a local. We walked into the small cafe and were seated by the hostess, who already gave us a bad taste by giving us an attitude. I ordered the Spinach Artichoke Tomato Pie with a Parmesan Grit Cake and supposedly a "Savory Herb Scone." My husband got the Sausage and Red Pepper flatbread. His meal came out fine, if quite small. My order came as a plain Tomato pie and without a scone. This was fine, but it still wasn't what I ordered. I mentioned this to our server to ensure he charged us appropriately (the spinach artichoke tomato pie is a dollar more). He said he grabbed the wrong dish (nice try, no one else ordered Tomato Pie in the small restaurant), and then he looked confused when I told him I just wanted to ensure we were billed appropriately. The actual food was pretty good. Both dishes had plenty of cheese, which provided a nice salty, savory flavor. The basil/rosemary spice combination freshened up the tomato pie, and the lemon kale added a much needed crunch to the flatbread (soft crust). I felt the portion was slightly small, but it was definitely too small for my husband. We witnessed further evidence of the staff's poor attitudes as our server knocked into my husband's back twice when walking behind him, never apologizing or saying, "excuse me." The hostess was more concerned with joking with the other waitstaff as she joked with them. Another couple came into the cafe and said they were waiting for another couple to join them, so the woman was looking in the dessert display, when the hostess pushed her way in to clean the glass of the display. She displaced the woman, again without apology or excusing herself. Overall, the food was great, but we're unsure if we'd go back because the staff were so impolite. read more

This is a popular spot for lunch. We felt the service was good and the food was good as well. My main criticism is on my chicken curry sandwich the croissant seemed really dense and a little dry. I prefer croissants to me buttery and fluffy. The chicken salad was a little bland and could have used more seasoning. However my sisters salmon and artichoke panini was great, as was the tomato bisque soup my mom had. She said several times it tastes amazingly fresh. We would come back again to try more of their pressed sandwiches which seems to be their forte. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy and very welcoming.
