Stopped in last Thursday afternoon, never been in before. I saw the sign driving by so my boyfriend and I wanted to try this hole in the wall. Was pleasantly surprised, very cute inside.. The bartender was super sweet and personable, she made amazing strong shorts that we're reasonably priced. Had so much fun we stayed for karaoke... Love this place, staff her in the am and pm Mon - Sunday are amazing. But the only down side is they do need to update their music. I don't sing and I don't like to sing in front of a crowd, but when I have a few drinks in me I and there's a few people in the bar I would love to get it out of me and sing (I suck by the way, but it's the closest I will get to singing in front of people). I'm seriously addicted to singing at this place. Amazing song choices, supportive audience - doesn't matter if you're brand new or semi-pro, you'll be welcomed. Especially love Donna, who is the high priestess of all of KJ's, and can help even me sound good. There's a fun crowd of regulars, of all ages, and Art serves a pretty serious Patron on the rocks, which helps my singing (LOL). I always get great service, and have a blast. Found Tom Cat three years ago & it has become my "Cheers"...always fun & great staff always greets me by name. My only question is why Mandy no longer works on Saturdays? Always go on Thursday nights & occasionally on Saturday, when the place is usually more crowded & fun. Even then, the bar staff is more than capable to keep the drinks flowing with two bartenders & two servers. HOWEVER, the last two Saturdays, two bartenders & one server have a problem getting drinks to the customers. Theresa & Anthony hustle to get the drinks out but with only one server...well you get my drift. Theresa is a capable bartender but also a really good server. My suggestion is that you bring back Mandy on Saturdays & let Theresa & Kimmy do the hustling to deliver drinks. I just don't understand why Mandy doesn't work Saturdays any more. Welll went to this bar real close to my house Sat down and for 2 hours was never asked if I wanted a drink. The waitress was busy putting her arms around everyone and catering to people around me. U say well did u go to the bar? Well it was crowded. Why should I. It was way to crowded. I expected the waitress to come to me. Maybe it was my skin color , well I hope not. I come to this Bar mostly on Friday nights because of Donna the KJ, she is one of the best KJ's ever, and I just love her!!! She makes everyone feel special and gives you a warm welcome whenever You come in!!! Always willing to helps you find songs when you can't! The crowd in this dive bar is a bit older, but the drinks are good and so is the service.

5 stars for the Tomkat for a few reasons, it's a dive karaoke bar walking distance from my house, Artie the Bartender is hilarious, the karaoke selections is amazing they pretty much have every song in the world, the Spaceman hangs out there, and of course you get quite an interesting crowd which varies nightly. Donna, Greg and Susan are also nice KJ's. read more

Love this place. I came here on a Friday night for happy hour karaoke. Karaoke lady was awesome. The bartender was great until the gentleman at 6 o'clock came on. I asked him for two pitchers of water and he told me they were not allowed to serve that he would do it this one time but management does not want them giving out pitchers of water. I asked him " did you not know that people that drink water stay longer and spend more money"? I've been cut off of a lot of things but never water. Management should change the rules. I would still go back but probably not on a Friday night. I love the bartender before him and she got tipped 20 tip because she rocked not sure of her name but she was cool as hell. Next time I go I'll make sure I find out everybody's name lol read more

The k.j. Here sucks. The first time she called our name we didn't hear it and we were listening for it too. The 2nd time we rushed up to the stage to be be surprised the next person was already up there. It was literally 15 seconds to make it up there from the back of the bar. She said it took to long. If you want a good k.j. Go to the rio. She just lost two good customers that love to tip and drink. read more

The KJ is very moody. She doesn't like to change songs once it is set. She is grumpy and her temper is like hurricane if she doesn't like. I feel sorry for her to work at the old age. The karaoke bar sings mostly country. Sometimes it is very boring to listen country over and over. I wish singers can sing a variety of different type of songs. The bartender oftens come after you for drink. Singers are not alcholics, one glass is enough, they should fix something non-alcohol beverages for other customers. Mostly the people going there are regulars. It is an okay place. read more

If I could rate this place lower then one star I would. While waiting for a family friend to arrive me and my family decided to hang out play some pool listen to some karaoke having a fun time until the waitress approaches us and asks for the second time if we wanted to drink at that moment we told her no she snaps and says well my manager said you have to leave if your not drinking we couldn't believe that amount of disrespect being shown to us. I looked and searched for a sign stating there was a drink minimum but as I expected nothing but yet five minutes later a rude aggressive manager approached me my brother my pregnant girlfriend and my dad who is in a wheelchair and says "you guys are paying with my money you need to buy a drink" my dad said "I don't drink alcohol" and was rudely interrupted and the manager said "well go some where else" my dad said he would buy soda and the manager still proceeded to rudely kick us out of the bar unsure if my girlfriend being the only Mexican and us being the only black people there played a role in the fact that we were treated as if we were criminals but I would not recommend this place to anyone ever it felt extremely prejudice and totally not ethnic friendly. read more

I Love this bar everyone is so nice and it is a fun dive bar. A lot of regulars but as of lately all walks of life. Karaoke. 7 days a week the kj's are Donna whom all the regulars call mamma. There is Candice and finally Joey. Donna and Joey are my favorites and don't think u can talk Donna into pushing u up in rotation she will tell u where u can go ( in a fun loving way)... OK - not so great to look at, but it's clean and the staff make up for mix of bar chairs. The KJs are fun people who enjoy the people in the bar - always making you feel welcome. The beers and wine are priced well and good. I'm not a hard alcohol drinking, but friends tell me they make great mixed drinks and shots. On holidays from South Australia and was recomended to this place by the guys we rented a house from. How much fun is Tomkats lounge!!! Re had a ball both times we went there, singing our heads off on the karaoke stage and enjoying the company of the friendly happy locals. Drinks were cheap and the atmosphere was awesome! Has become my favorite bar. They tend to run out of cups so I order a pitcher of beer and drink from the pitcher. I love this bar.

Went to Tomkat once with a few friends when it was ridiculously busy and I wasn't feeling it. I pretty much was the only ethnic person there and there were a ton of dirty old men that smelled like ass. When there's that many people around and you're the odd man out, it draws a LOT of unwanted attention. And it turned me off big time. My bartender was prompt though, so that was a plus. Perhaps I went on a bad night. I hear this place can be a lot of fun, so I might give it another chance. I'm a big fan of karaoke, so I like that about Tomkat already, but a lot of the people there picked country music. Not a big fan. Since I've only been here once, I have no idea if this is a normal occurrence. It's a possibility. And I can't tell you how many times I heard how much I look like Penelope Cruz as a conversation starter. So if you see me here, be creative and ask me something else. ;) read more

Ima realllly good friend of Alicia V. and I have to apologize for her rude, obnoxious comments about the KJ ... I think her name is Dawn, I apologize, Im not sure... but thats not my point. My friend Alicia V is a drunk, a true tanking alcoholic, I hate to say it but its true and she knows I pull no punches, we that love Alicia have tried so many times to get her the mental help she needs to kick this demon but she just doesnt see it ... we need to pray!! When talking with my friend this morning, she told me what she wrote and I was so embarrassed!! She gets very mean and nasty when she drinks and doesnt get her own way. Yes, she frequents bars and likes to sing, cannot hold a note for the life of her, poor girl BUT she is like a sister to me, I want her to get better all around. KJ Dawn ... I dont know you, but I apologize sincerely. Im sure you have to deal with this stuff all the time, its hard to be in the bar business with drunks like my friend Alicia V. I didnt sing but I was there and I heard her grumbling but I didnt think she would go this far and say such nasty things ... so again, I apologize to you for her and we will, her family and friends do what we can to get Alicia V the help she desperately needs to get clean and sober... maybe she will apologize to you herself someday when she realizes what a fool she is acting like. read more

This was my first karaoke bar and I was amazed at the energy in this place when people are singing. Yes it is a dive bar but I have always had a blast when i was there. Drinks are not expensive and the crowd ranges from scary to funny as hell. They have their regulars and a lot of good voices but like every karaoke bar they have their share of clinkers. That just adds to the experience. They sing here till closing so come early and stay late. read more

It was not that great. Maybe If I were older, but it seems more of a place for older people. Maybe we went a wrong day.

Not sure if anyone will read this or even care, but I just have to express my disappointment with the TomKat. We have been going there for over 10 years now ( not even as long as all the people from Town Tavern). It has always been known as the top Orange County Karaoke Bar. It seems now that it has turned into a Juke Box bar. Every night that we go, we have to wait for at least 30 minutes until all the songs are done in the juke box. Would make sense if they put a notice on the Jukebox that "Karaoke starts at 7 on Fridays and 7:30 every other night. Very sad that they are losing allot of the regulars that really made the Tom Kat who they are. We always loved the TomKat because they were the only known Karaoke bar that started early. Looks like the new people coming in, playing the juke are running the show. What a shame... it use to be a great place, with great management ... not sure now. Very disappointed right now. I guess they want more young people and fights... which seems to be what's going on now. read more
