This was a great little stop. We jumped into here after walking around downtown and the market all day and finishing up the historic carriage ride. It was delicious and refreshing. The service was great and the atmosphere was fun. We stopped in at an off time, so no wait to be seated which was a bonus. We had the gator bites and the dip that accompanied it was so good I could have ate another bowl of it by itself. The bookmaker sandwich was the recommendation of our waiter as it was his favorite; one bite in and I could see why. So much flavor and it was perfect to fill me Up and hold me over until late into the night. They have a decent selection of local and craft beer as well as all the classics you would expect of an Irish bar setting. All I can say is WOW!!!! We were in town for a "runaway from home" weekend and didn't have reservations for any restaurants in Charleston. We both love an Irish pub and this one was amazing! They really do pour a proper Guinness! The senior bartenders will give it a flourish with the signature shamrock. The other on-tap options are also very good, quite a few of them being local brews. We didn't enjoy this restaurant. I ordered corned beef and cabbage...the beef was basically nothing but strips of fat with a small rippling of meat. The cabbage was tasteless and the potatoes and carrots were overcooked to the point they were just mush. I usually eat my food, this one was a pick over until I just had to send it back. My husband ordered the Reuben sandwich and extra crispy fries. The sandwich was good, but the fries weren't crispy at all. He also ordered a local Pilsner which he really enjoyed. We came 2 night in a row- partly because hubby used to frequent the place and remembered food being served late, but Friday night we rolled in an hour after the kitchen closed... drinks it was and entertainment! The singer/guitar player was fantastic! Had a very Tom Petty vibe. Last night- just before we left I had said- he could sing free fallin really well- I just knew it. Well... as we were leaving he said he would be back preforming the next night. Tonight- we returned for food and more songs! Including Free Fallin- thank you for that! The service, the food, the atmosphere and the live music were all top notch. We had an order of the hush puppies with honey butter (delicious), the Shepards pie, and the grilled shrimp. The food is really 3 stars .. it's pub fare. However, I'm bumping up a star as this was one of the few places open on Christmas. I happened to be in the area, without a reservation, so I ended up here with my party of 4. We got a table easily, but it was packed, so service was a little slow. Still grateful though. The fish and chips were tasty, but only two pieces of fish. The Irish quesadilla was lackluster, only warm, and left a lot to be desired. There is a good section of drafts and bottled beer. It's a very cute Irish pub and I do appreciate the live music and indoor and outdoor seating. However, for an Irish Pub most items I felt were quite southern or not even Irish at all. I felt a bit disappointed in that. I have gone to an Irish Pub in my hometown for years and they have appropriately offered items that are both traditional and non-traditional Irish foods to accommodate everyone. We found Tommy Condon's while walking around downtown. I did a Yelp search for bread pudding. I had the best bread pudding of my life in Charleston a few years ago and have not been able to find it since. The pub has been open for about 20 years. It is styled in the all wood european pub style and is very authentically decorated. The staff was friendly and the bathroom were clean. They have bar, indoor and outdoor seating. We had the Irish Nachos and Bread Pudding. The nachos were excellent. They used a sweet hot pepper that had a great flavor. There was a ton of cheese and bacon and the potatoes were cut nice and thick. The bread pudding was disappointing. It was more of a loaf of bread that was then sliced and served with ice cream and caramel sauce. I prefer the soggy bread pudding style. Tommy's had a ton of raisins in it as well. I am not much of a raisin fan either. Apart from the bread pudding, I would have given this a 4-star review, but without it, it was just ok. Either way, I would recommend you eat here. It was pretty good. My reviews are based on my experience where a 3-star review is exactly what I expected, neither good nor bad, just average. A 4-star review means something was extra special; service, food, location, etc. and is a great review for most places. A 5-star review means I was blown away with the experience. These are hard to come by and are reserved for the best of the best. I think may reviewers are too quick to throw five star reviews up for an average experience. A 2- star reviews means something was disappointing and a 1- star review means it was a bad experience all around. I hope this helps to understand my system. See you out there! read more

My wife thought her Shepards pie was pretty good. My cheesesteak was not. They could have spread the beef out along the sandwich better. It had a lit of fat and sinew in it. The French fries were soft. No crunch to them . It was very disappointing and I will never go back there. read more

We struck up a short conversation with the manager, because there was a Purdue flag outside the bar, and we were curious as to the connection. The absolute best spot for live Irish music outside of NYC or Boston! The fellas are well versed in toasts and rally songs... we spent several hours on 2 different trips singing along to the classics. The pints are cold and the music is hot... can't beat it in the south. read more

During our stay in Charleston, SC, we stopped here twice. The first hardly qualifies as it was a resting place and let's have a cold drink. The 2nd though was for a meal. Being somewhat past the big tourist season it was a little later in the evening and literally on our way from a day of touristing and needing to eat. She had a shrimp order sand I the fish and chips. Both were outstanding on comparison to many of the places were went to. She commented that the shrimp were generous in comparison to virtually every place else we stopped, see Margaritaville in Myrtle where we walked out. My fish was also generous and tasting good. The fries were not the real fry but better than the normal frozen variety. Ambiance was pub, Irish pub or at least an American version of an Irish pub, this based on having the opportunity to actually visit a few in Ireland. Can see where there are times it might be loud, but a place we both recommend for a relaxing cold one or a meal. read more

My wife is from Charleston, and I'm a College of Charleston alum. I remember coming here when I was 17 visiting my sister and have come many times since then in the past 20 years. My wife and I decided to play tourist in Charleston for our anniversary. When ever we travel, I find the closest Irish pub and make that base. We checked in to our B&B and went straight to Tommy Condon's. Beer is cold. Guinness is poured correctly (in an actual pint glass not a the small one), and the whiskey list is extensive. So my father in law and I wanted to grab a bite. We had planned on a crab house around the corner with a crazy wait. We were really up with anything so we popped in to TCs. Immediately I heard the familiar sound of "Irish Rover" a classic pub sing along. As it turns out it would be the only Irish song I heard. The rest of the performers hour we were there was spent playing classic rock and folk that. All good except it was odd because he didn't know any of the lyrics, he was reading and singing as he went. It was almost comical. He was very entertaining but I knew he wasn't a classic Irish performer because he didn't know "Alice" you know, "who the f$$$ is Alice?" Haha Anyhow the food was good, I got tenders, the breading was fresh and fries were pretty good. My FIL got the shrimp and grits, his quote "I've never had this many shrimp in a shrimp and grits". Good food and a nice atmosphere with a friendly staff. It was also open mic night so there were half a dozen guitar players singing two songs each. The original songs I didn't love, but songs like Margaritaville were good. As for the food...fries were good as were the other sides. I had a chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato. Chicken was fried and dripping with oil. I guess that's what they do in the south. Waitresses gave honest reviews of the food and were very courteous and served you quickly. Went here for lunch on Saturday, April 27, 2019. We went here after picking my mom and brother up from the airport. They were in town visiting and my wife and I like eating here whenever we are down town. The food here is usually good and cooked accurately. However, this was not the case. The food was overcooked and was not cooked to order. The only food that came out correctly was our Smithwick's cheddar ale dip. The server disappeared and we had to find another server to get us more drinks and our check. There was also food on the floor and some of the silverware was dirty. I am giving 2stars because they are usually a lot better than what we experienced on this occasion. I think the food inaccuracies were because our server was inattentive to the table and our orders.
