I was surprised when my friend ordered shrimp sushi and chef made deep fry with head of shrimp. not many sushi restaurants does it, they made nice and crunchy. Good quality and kind prices of menu.

Tomodachi has the freshest sushi in town. Really nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Presentation exceeded my expectations. Would recommend.

Tomodachi is a solid sushi restaurant if you are fan of no frills fresh sashimi style fish. I've driven by this location many times but it wasn't until recently that a friend and I were craving sushi close to home that we decided to give this spot a try. The ambiance and atmosphere left little to be desired though. It's definitely got a stark feel, not very warm or inviting so I was a little apprehensive walking in. However the servers were friendly enough and sat us right away. For a weekend evening the restaurant only remained about five tables full at all times. It was quiet and relaxing in that way as it didn't have the normal hustle and bustle some restaurants have on a weekend night. So if you want a more intimate private setting this restaurant would surely work. The service was a little hit or miss. I felt that simply out of the two servers on the floor, one was more on it then the other. We did have to ask for our drinks to be refilled which I'm never a fan of, especially when I find the restaurant to not be very busy. But then service picked up towards the end were we stopped having to ask and they were more on it. Also the sushi all came out together which was definitely a plus as when your dining with someone you want to be able to both eat together which sometimes is a barrier at sushi spots when they bring only a roll or two at a time. The sushi chefs behind the bar were friendly and again the meal was well paced. I felt that the prices were average. Not a deal but also for the area the prices were appropriate as the sushi was fresh and the bites were perfect in size. The menu as others have said wasn't innovative really, but at least they did the classics well and the menu would be easy to follow for an average sushi eater. Not an overwhelming amount of rolls to pick from but their nigiri menu was on point! Our favorites of the night were just the well balanced nigiri sections of salmon, yellowtail, and soybean curd. As for the rolls I would skip as we found we would rather spend money here on the nigiri. If your in the area and wanting a simple but fresh tasty meal of nigiri and sashimi this is definitely the spot for you. We also noticed a lot of to go orders so this seems to be the hot spot in town for takeout so worth remembering. I don't know if the meal was memorable that it would be on a regular rotation for me but if someone was begging to go I would surely give them another go as it's nice to have different sushi options on this side of town.

The 911 roll and Tomodachi roll are my favorite here, so good! Their sakè is delicious and goes down so easy, too. Staff is always friendly and the restaurant is a local sushi gem, it's a full house in the evening time.

Excellent setting service and food. If you like sushi this is the place. Thank you Rebecca

Had a quick business meeting and decided on a place right off the freeway. Service was warm, friendly, and prompt. Was greeted immediately upon entering. I ordered a sushi/teriyaki salmon combo that was very tasty. My peer ordered ramen which she enjoyed as well. Highly recommend this place and will come back again.

He never forgets my son or me and always goes out of his way to make us feel welcome and take extra-special care of us. I'd love to hear upbeat rock 'n' roll or something with a little more energy instead of the slow, sleepy music that's usually playing. A livelier soundtrack would better match the vibrant atmosphere and elevate the entire dining experience. Thank you, Sarah, Daniel, and Tim, for making every visit such a pleasure. The 'proteins' were fresh and tasted very good; the rice was not sticky or gummy like sometimes sushi rice can appear-in fact the rolls were not over done with rice, just the right amount. Nori Japanese Grill has clearly remained a local favorite and standing the test of time like that deserves a round of applause. I've driven by this spot on Thousand Oaks Boulevard so many times and after running errands one afternoon, I found myself starving and wanting something casual where I could get in and out quickly. The restaurant is super casual, and you order at the counter, but they take care of everything after that. Your food is brought right to your table, and honestly, I love this style of dining. You pay upfront, so once you're finished eating, you can simply head out whenever you're ready. It's perfect for a quick lunch. I was being a basic girl when I came and kept it simple with shrimp tempura and a California roll. The food here is solid, simple, and satisfying. I'm not here to tell you it's "the best sushi I've ever had" but it's just classic Japanese comfort food done well. The shrimp tempura was perfectly crispy and I liked the tempura side sauce for dipping. The california roll was no frills but tasty. For about $25 after tip, I got a drink, a sushi roll, and shrimp tempura, which honestly isn't bad in today's economy. It definitely beats grabbing fast food or eating at the same old boring chain restaurants.
