    Cutie mint!

Was so excited to come here with friends after seeing it all over social media! I was able to make a reservation and we were seated upstairs in this almost private sectioned table! The inside design was beautiful! We tried the iconic swing pork belly, which was visually fun. The chili oil here is great in all the dishes. The actual dish was nothing groundbreaking, but good nonetheless. We got the fried rice and mapo tofu. The fried rice was AMAZING!! Definitely must get. The mapo tofu is huge and a great level of spice but not too spicy. We also got the double fried pork, which had some veg. We dipped it in the chili oil to give it more spice! They ended the meal with some cute mints that had a fruity taste to it! This place definitely lives up to the hype and we were all incredibly full after!

The food here is SOOOOOOOOO delicious and actually spicy!! I've been to places like this before where it wasn't spicy at all, but this place did such a good job. Everything was so good and I would come back to try everything else. The service was amazing. We came closer to closing time, but the staff still took us in and took our orders immediately and we got sat down. Food came out so quick, and everything was hot and delicious. The drinks were fun as well, but I would just come back for the food. My favorite was the lobster, and I suggest everyone to come here to try it!!! The ambiance was so lovely. We walked in and it felt like I was in a different area and not in nyc. I absolutely loved. The decorations and it was a bit quieter so I was able to hear the person I was with. This place is famous and I completely understand why. Might try and come back again soon lol!!

Peppercorn Beef- Tenderloin in Szechuan peppercorn broth. $26. Very numbing. Pretty tasty, but I prefer their other "soups"/stews like Suan

I went to the newest location of this excellent miniature Szechuan/Sichuan chain with a group several months ago, having been to both their Flushing and popular St. Marks location. It's the same schtick mostly when it comes to the menu, outside of missing certain dishes such as the Lamb Scorpion, a delicious dish made from lamb spine. In terms of other visits, I would recommend their Suan Cai Yu, or fish in sour and spicy cabbage soup, or the similar beef version with enoki. I heavily recommend making a reservation early if you can, as you'll otherwise have to wait a while, with there not being that much room by the entrance. We had a large group, so it took a while regardless. In terms of drinks, they have a selection of nonalcoholic drinks, wines, and a selection of baijiu. This includes them surprisingly selling a $15 100 ml bottle of Er Guo Tou/二锅头, a 54% ABV liquor that might be one of the easiest ways to get hammerered in the city. For food, they give you some free crunchy cabbage with a mild spicy kick. The other dishes were the following: Fried Shredded Eel- Deep-fried shredded eel with chili pepper and celery. $32. I found the portion a tad bigger compared to the other location, and it was pretty tasty as usual, though I, as usual, prefer getting cumin lamb over this as the texture is better and it's a bigger portion of protein. Pepper Rabbit Meat- Stir-fried spicy rabbit with hot pepper. $25. Bony is expected, but I liked the flavor. It had a good sour and spicy mix, reminding me more of Hunan or Yunnan food. Szechuan Double Cooked Pork- Pork belly, Chinese leeks, and chili pepper. $19. We got this as they were out of the country-style pork. Good version with streaky pork, which wasn't too fatty. There was also enough douchi/fermented black bean, but not too much that it was overly salty. Salted Egg Yolk Corn- Golden baked corn kernels with salted egg yolk. $18. A nice sweet bite with a bit of saltiness, which mixed well when combined with all the spicier dishes. Peppercorn Beef- Tenderloin in Szechuan peppercorn broth. $26. Good amount of tender beef, and a decent dish overall. This was the most numbing of all the dishes, along with the pepper rabbit. Fried Rice With Szechuan Pickles & Bacon. $19. Alright. I wish the rice had more smokiness from the bacon. This is yet another good location of this miniature Szechuan chain. I prefer the St. Marks location in terms of atmosphere, and maybe as there's a dish or two missing here compared to that location, but I presume this one's easier to get into.

Mountain House really hit the spot when you're craving Szechuan. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the standout was the sliced fish in sour cabbage soup, tender fish, perfectly tangy pickled cabbage, and a broth so good I couldn't stop drinking it. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Staff was also super friendly and restaurant had great vibe/ambience.

This spot made the "Top 10 Chinese Restaurants in NYC" list based on over 100 million ratings on Beli!! The Sichuan flavors here are bold, spicy, and super authentic--definitely a spot to come hungry with friends and share tasty dishes. Swing pork belly, La Zi Chicken, Crispy Sizzling Tofu, Ma La Lobster, and MaoXueWang are delicious!! Also heard from the staff they now stay open late on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until 1 AM, which makes this even better for late night cravings!!

overrated. i've had better versions of everything i've tried here at other places. i think the best thing i've tried here is the beef ribs with the bao, but it wasn't anything super amazing or anything. here's some commentary on some of the dishes i've had: - la zi ji: too many peppers, not enough chicken - plum juice: bitter and very artificial tasting - green beans: below average to average for a szechuan restaurant. not super crisp. - green pepper pork: for some reason, the green pepper was super bitter and basically inedible :( jiang nan in flushing/LIC/chinatown does this dish much better - swing belly pork: very plain. the dipping sauce had one flavor note and that was garlic. my breath stank for days after eating this. everything else was average. the nice thing is that they are near broadway shows so you can come here before a show and they can also accommodate large parties. they also bring out tea and a nice pickled cabbage amuse bouche. tldr; if someone asked me for chinese restaurant recommendations in nyc, this would not be in my top 5. wouldn't come back since there are so many other better chinese restaurants in the city.

Mountain House is a Sichuan restaurant that brings bold flavors and a more modern dining atmosphere to the Times Square area. We walked into a space with a rustic and earthy design that felt warm and comfortable, the kind of room that stands out from the typical tourist-area restaurants nearby. The dining room had a relaxed, inviting energy with a layout that accommodated both small groups and larger parties, and the focus felt centered around the food rather than the spectacle of the neighborhood. The food is where Mountain House really stands out. We ordered a few dishes and found the Mapo tofu one of the highlights, with a deep, rich flavor and a balanced level of heat that made it feel more complex than many versions of the dish we have tried. The combination of spice, seasoning, and texture came together in a way that felt carefully composed. The Sichuan-style dishes also showcased the restaurant's strength with bold mala flavors, bringing the characteristic numbing spice without completely overwhelming the other elements of the dish. The fried rice was another standout, simple but executed well, with a comforting quality that made it a great balance alongside the more intense Sichuan dishes. The restaurant also offered a variety of dishes that worked well for sharing, including options like pork belly and seafood-based dishes, making it a good choice for groups who wanted to try multiple flavors instead of ordering individually. We appreciated the small touches that added to the overall experience, including the complimentary pickled vegetables and tea service, which helped make the meal feel more complete rather than just a series of dishes arriving at the table. Service during our visit was attentive, and the staff were helpful with navigating the menu and spice levels. They offered guidance on which dishes would work best for our group and adjusted the heat when we asked. The main thing to keep in mind is that Sichuan cuisine can vary significantly in spice level, and some dishes can be much hotter than expected. If you are not used to mala spice, asking for recommendations or adjusting the spice level is worth doing. The portions also make this a better option for sharing, especially if you want to try several dishes. Overall, Mountain House is a strong option for Sichuan food. The combination of bold flavors, comfortable atmosphere, and attentive service makes it a place worth returning to, especially if you enjoy spicy Chinese cuisine and want a restaurant that focuses on the flavors and techniques of Sichuan cooking rather than just convenience.

This restaurant was terrific, service was top notch the ambiance led to an authentic feel and the food was top notch. Ordering made easy with an iPad at the table that displayed photos of the food along with ingredients and pricing.

Mountain House is a NYC staple when it comes to Sichuan food. With two locations in Manhattan, this spot in Times Square has stunning Chinese interior and is a reliable spot when it comes to authentic Sichuan cuisine. Service here is excellent and fairly quick. When I came, I got their swinging pork belly, wontons in chicken soup, mapo tofu, la zi chicken, and drunken jelly (for dessert). I absolutely loved their dumplings and their la zi chicken. Everything comes in a good portion and great value for the price. Loved ending the meal with their refreshing jelly, and I would definitely come back.

Came here after seeing it on Beli's top 10 Chinese restaurants in NYC and it did not disappoint. The decor alone is worth it -- feels like you've been transported the second you walk in, koi pond and everything. We ordered the mapo tofu, swing pork belly, szechuan cabbage & fish, teppan shrimp, stir fried long beans, and osmanthus jelly for dessert. Zero misses. Service was solid. Just make sure you book a reservation ahead of time.

I've been to their downtown location but first time at this location. The decor definitely adds to the vibe here. Two floor and you check in on the first floor. The 2nd floors seems to be bigger and more seating. Service was good too. I was with a large group and they were very accommodating. The food was delicious and the presentation was amazing as well. Everything looked delicious.

I've been to the east village location and absolutely loved it. The midtown west location did not disappoint. The food was delicious! Each item tasted different. The corn and snow pea shoots were absolutely addictive. Both used simple flavors, but I couldn't stop munching on them. I didn't take a picture but we also had chicken giblets, which had a perfect sour and umami flavor. The service was great. They were extremely attentive and constantly filled my glass with tea. The restaurant was beautiful with a gorgeous water fountain.

Not just another Chinese restaurant, but an experience in dinner. Along Manhattan's famous Restaurant Row (46th Ave), Mountain House is an authentic Szechuan restaurant where you're greeted warmly by members of the staff in a well appointed dining room. My wife and I enjoyed a range of dishes in the beautiful first floor dining room (2nd floor is equally beautiful). We started with complimentary hot green tea along with Beef Sour Soup. The soup's broth is both sour and very spicy while the meat is very tender and delicious. We also had my favorite dish, Kung Pao Chicken which is loaded with peanuts and quite tasty. To round out our meal we had a few dumplings and fresh steamed rice. Definitely a destination restaurant that I highly recommend if you're looking for authentic Szechuan cuisine.

Got off the E train and when we looked for Chinese food, this place popped up with good reviews and it was just a short walk from where we got off the train. My buddies ordered the special lunches and we also got two types of xlb's, beef chow fun, and some fried dumplings. The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

I missed a call and literally two minutes later the call came through again and the woman yelled at me - "hurry up hurry up, hurry up, hurry up!" said the driver was waiting 10-15 minutes for me, which was simply untrue - I got a call literally two minutes before- just rude. Added a screenshot in case the owner doubles down that it was 15 mins. Guess the first call was from the delivery driver, and the second was from the restaurant itself. ‍ But the really disappointing part is that they didn't pack any soup separate from the noodles! - So my chicken dumpling noodle soup basically had no soup - don't know if they forgot it or if it was absorbed by the noodles but most restaurants at this point know to pack the broth and the noodles separately,- so I ended up having to add some of my own vegetable broth, which totally was not the flavor I was hoping for. So - love the food, but delivery service leaves a lot to be desired - next time I'll try giving instructions to pack the soup separate from the noodles and see if that helps!

Located within the historic Chelsea Market building--a former Nabisco factory where Oreo cookies were first produced--the restaurant feels theatrical in the best possible way. The soaring ceilings, dramatic lighting, and energetic atmosphere create a sense of occasion from the moment you walk in. It feels less like simply going out to dinner and more like stepping into a beautifully staged production. I started with a Botanist Gin Martini with a twist, which paired wonderfully with the meal. The surprise star of the evening was the new Cucumber Tiger Salad. The balance of flavors was exceptional: bright acidity, a pleasant touch of heat, and just enough mint to make each bite feel fresh and exciting. Every so often the mint would come through and suddenly all the flavors would click together in a way that made me immediately want another bite. This is a dish I would happily order again. Next came the Edamame Dumplings. They were delicate and comforting, especially when enjoyed with the accompanying broth. The broth adds depth and richness that elevates the entire dish. My only suggestion would be the slightest touch more salt, perhaps even a finishing sprinkle of black volcanic salt for both flavor and presentation. I also found myself wishing there were a bit more of that delicious broth because it contributes so much to the overall experience. For my entrée, I ordered the Glazed Alaskan Black Cod, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. The fish was rich, buttery, and perfectly prepared. What impressed me most was how thoughtfully the accompaniments were composed. The pickled cucumbers brought brightness, acidity, and crunch, while the black bean and eggplant relish delivered deep savory notes and unexpected complexity. I'm generally not an eggplant fan, but this relish was outstanding. The cucumbers and relish sit at opposite ends of the flavor spectrum, yet both somehow make the cod even better. Looking back, I think a glass of Sauvignon Blanc alongside the cod would have been the perfect pairing. I finished with the Miso Caramel Milk Bar, which was spectacular. Decadent, sweet, salty, and touched with just enough umami to keep every bite interesting. The chocolate crumble underneath added a wonderful crunch that contrasted beautifully with the creamy ice cream and luscious caramel sauce. Every component worked together perfectly, creating a dessert that was both indulgent and sophisticated. From start to finish, the meal felt polished, thoughtful, and memorable. Thank you!
