I really cannot recommend this dealer enough. I purchased my 2022 F150 there and there was no high-pressure sales or anything unpleasant. There was a minor incident a couple years later (just recently) where after I picked up my truck from service, I noticed a small crack in the left tail light and the general manager Lance Nolte previewed the check-in video of my truck and even though it wasn't really clearly visible on that video because it was quite small, he took my word for it that it wasn't that way when I brought it in and kindly and professionally covered the replacement cost. mistakes can happen, but the point is this dealer decided to believe their customer and they valued me. Also, Valentina, my service advisor is professional, communicative, and very kind. For regular maintenance like oil changes, they even give the option of picking up your vehicle or offering a shuttle or a loaner car if they have any available. I've had all my trucks maintenance done at this dealer since it was brand new. So from the purchase process all the way through to correcting minor issues, this dealer stood by me, their customer. This is my second review, and feel its worth mentioning. Not only did I get terrible service but they dont even acknowledge these negative reviews. I dont think anyone reads them. if they do .... shame on them. You would think after getting terrible service, leaving not 1 but 5 negative reviews someone would say something. I didnt even get a call from the janitor asking " hows your new truck??" So not only did I get terrible service, Have one of the worst car buying experiences ever...No one will acknowledge the negative reviews, complaints or checking in. I can see if i bought a pair of jeans where the service stops ... But this was a large purchase and I paid cash. Once they get your money and you drive off..... Thats It.!!! so Not just bad service , Horrible service. My advice, go to Damerow Ford in Beaverton, They will treat you right there. so Yea .... I'm Pissed! Purchased a used truck from this dealership and quickly realized how unsafe the vehicle was. Missing lugnuts, months passed DEQ, poor front brakes, two reverse lights out, missing four TPMS sensors, and the worst of them all is all four tires had manufacture defect (not my words, Les Schwab's). The dealer stated that the tires were new but refused to aid in replacing them under manufature warranty. Went to three Les Schwabs' and set a record for the highest Road Force at 249lbs. The vehicle was shaking itself apart at 45mph and blew out both rear shocks. Do not recommend purchasing used vehicles here as they are unsafe and customer service is nonexistent. Les Schwab stated that driving with the tires with "further" damage other suspension components. read more

I bought a truck a year ago. My first time ever in my life being able to go to a car dealership and buy damn near a new truck. I bought a 2019 F 150 Limited. It was everything I wanted and then a little more. The sales guy was amazing. The service through him was amazing. Once the deal went over to the finance department is where I started to feel a little less happy about it all. It was no longer customer service and all about squeezing every penny.... I get it I really do but there was no customer service at all. Long story short I paid cash which didn't make the associate real happy and he was sure to let me know. I signed the deal cause its what i wanted at the end of the day. When I got to my hometown and it started to have problems and needed to go in the shop, there was paperwork for my warranty that I couldn't find. and everything with Hillsboro went downhill from there. Nothing but the run around and treated rudely. A year later...truck goes back to the shop and paperwork that we were told was sent over was actually never sent over. Terrible service crew. We paid an arm and leg to get our truck repaired. While repairing the broke our dashboard. Items that they were supposed to replaced brand new. Stay away from Tonkin Ford. They charged me $200 to program two keys that I bought from them, after I brought in a working key and the vehicle. Another Ford dealer cut a key for me and waived the programming fee when I brought in the vehicle and a working key. I was told, "that's just what we charge." On top of that, even with an appointment my wife had to wait 3 hours to get the keys programmed. What a joke. Tonkin Ford is a disaster! Update: When the service manager (Tim?) finally called me back to talk about the issue, he mentioned that I used to work for company #####. Turns out that he was checking an old email from years ago when I had something done there. Why was he checking up on me? What did my tenure with company ##### have to do with the issue at hand? Literally cannot spell out the lunacy at this place. First, the name they ran me under for credit to purchase the car was wrong no matter HOW MANY TIMES I fixed it for them - and I've bought ten + cars from them over the years so they knew us by name! I have texted my sales guy to do deals. Loved this place...until I didn't. Now, come to find out that they haven't TITLED THE VEHICLE in Oregon that was purchased in November 2022. That's FIVE months ago!!! And now, I'm standing in the dealership demanding answers. And no one has them. They're required by law to title it within 30 days. The plates assigned to it aren't even valid for the car according to the DMV, the title is still registered to the old owner in another state, and they never answered the DMV demand letter from January 2023. This is a clusterf*ck of epic proportions and it's not even fixed yet. This is frustrating and disheartening and one that the DMV title investigator will be hearing from me about. They tried to tell me my 1.5 yr old Toyota 4runner in perfect condition with extremely low miles could end up in auction so they could only give me half of what it was worth. Below is a copy of the email I plan on sending Tonkin HQ about my experience: Arrived Monday morning and test drove a vehicle. I brought 2 friends on the test drive with me. They both heard the salesperson tell me they could do MSRP on the vehicle I wanted. Glad I went with two people. We had to go and I had to get other pricing and think about quoted price. Now, I did ask for 3000 off MSRP as I've never payed MSRP before and as an example, I know right now there are vehicles offering 8000 off MSRP (2023 Buick Envision for example), but I had some checking around to do and needed to think on the offer of MSRP. After checking around, I went back in on Black Friday (4 business days later) ready to make the buy. The original salesperson was busy and I ended up talking to a different one. I was ready to buy and asked for the out the door price but now, everything was $1000 over MSRP. So I wanted to know what changed and there was some back and fourth conversation and negotiation. They kept claiming they never offered MSRP but they would take a chunk off of the one I test drove and then proceeded to give me numbers on the wrong vehicle. I know I test drove a different vehicle on Monday because the one I drove had a heated steering wheel and it was cold out and the heat was so nice on my hands. But they adamantly told me that their records showed I drove a different one. If I had not brought two friends with me that day, I would have questioned my own sanity. I asked that they bring in the original salesperson to help clear things up which they told me they wouldn't do which I understood but then asked that they just go ask that person then, and they wouldn't do that either. By now, I had been negotiating with the sales manager as well as the new salesperson but the sales manager had left the room to do something else. I told the salesman. That if he could work up the out the door price on two of the vehicles I was trying to choose between, I would pick the one I wanted and wrap this up. At this point, the sales manager came in, stood over me and my 70 year old father in law who drove me in because I was planning on driving a new vehicle home and loudly and angrilly accused me of bullying and that they would not pull that other sales person in to interrogate them and they have right of refusal and threatened to kick me out. All I had wanted was to clear up the vehicle I had test driven because they said they would give a bigger discount on that vehicle vs the other vehicle I had not seen on Monday because as the new salesperson informed me, it was around in the back. After the vehement accusations against me, he told me he would go work up the price on the two vehicles and left the room. I sat there in stunned silence for about 15 seconds and then followed him out. I finally caught up and told him I didn't appreciate his accusations of bullying and not to bother with the work up because I was done. My father inlaw and I then walked out and I will likely never go back to any Tonkin lot. So glad I had people with me each time or I would have questioned my own sanity! Storming in to an office and falsely accusing a customer of bullying and threatening to throw them out because that customer wanted to have things cleared up is not something I would ever expect! read more

BEOW IS THE TEXT OF MY EMAIL TO THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINING THE SITUATION: My visit for service was handled poorly, as was my follow up visit. My reasons are detailed below and I ask you read this in its entirety to fully understand the complete situation. I realize that I was dealing with Valentina, who had been there but three days, but the entire interaction was disappointing. I explained in detail why I was there, and she then went to Benito to ask what to do. After over 10 minutes, she returned, and the response I received was not in alignment with my original inquiry. I asked additional questions to reach any level of clarification, and again she was gone for an extended period. I was unable to get a direct answer for any question. Valentina told me she was clearly out of her area of knowledge. Why did she just not ask Benito to come address me direct and stand nearby to learn from the interaction? Why did Benito knowingly not step up to do the same? As an experienced manager, it would be incumbent upon him to recognize the situation. I eventually booked a service appointment to have my mirror replaced. I had mentioned several times that I would be using my insurance. I repeatedly mentioned that per my insurance agent the dealership would be interacting direct with the insurance company in regard to payment. No information was ever provided in regard to your dealership's policy in regard to interactions with insurance companies. I returned a second day to get a written quote to provide to the insurance company to challenge their quote for service, which was substantially less. Per my insurance agent I advised Valentina that the insurance company was asking them to forward a detailed quote so as to explain the cost differential. Valentina advised me in a rather brusque tone that your dealership does not deal with insurance companies. I was on the phone at the time with my insurance agent, and upon advising him, he did state it was highly unusual for a dealership to not wish to engage with insurance companies. I agree with this assessment. I did receive a written quote as requested, however it was just the pricing typed onto a piece of company letterhead. No details explaining the reason for the part cost being over $800.00 more, and the labor costs being higher than the insurance company estimated. It was just some numbers typed onto a document. I found this completely unprofessional and unacceptable. There was absolutely NO effort made to assist me in my request. I have found the entire experience with the dealership to be unprofessional and lacking of any attempt to provide even a moderate level of service. I have taken actions to have my truck serviced elsewhere. I am disappointed to having to take this action as I have been a loyal customer to your dealership for over three years. Based on past mediocre interactions, this most recent interaction is the proverbial final straw. I am fully aware that I will most likely not get any replay, not will my statements be taken in the vein intended. I am compelled to bring this to your attention as that is the way one traditionally addresses a grievance. In this case, however, I fully anticipate neither any improvement nor a response of serious proportion from dealership management that would indicate any level of response to improve what has been for a long time lackluster customer service that has degraded to full incompetence and apathy. read more

I called twice today about getting service, talked to the receptionist who forwarded the message to someone to call back. Guess what, they never called me back.
