Tony Boloney's is a place I've been wanting to try for a long time. They have some of the most over-the-top lookin' food I've ever seen. They are definitely the kind of place that hypes up their food for being "extra" on Instagram. So, I was curious... Do they live up to the hype? The food definitely lives up. Is it extra? Yes. Is it probably bad for your health? Absolutely. Did I enjoy it? For sure. They are a pizza shop primarily, but I feel like their subs are the real star of the show. I think their philly cheesesteak might be one of the best I've ever eaten. The only issues I really have with Tony Boloney's is that they seemed a little short staffed, a lot of things in the restaurant were apparently not functioning properly, and the one guy at the counter was on the phone trying to sort out various things going wrong at the restaurant. Made for kind of a weird ordering experience, but it wasn't the guy's fault. He seemed to be trying his best. Also, with things being short staffed, the tables were a bit dirty. The TLDR though... It's worth the trip from New York over to New Jersey, and the food itself is very extra in the best way. It lives up to the Instagram hype.

    Try to pick that up...

Can't do a simple slice of pepperoni huh. Ok well.... Let's move to something else. Slices with ribeye... sounds good. But something is just off. I can't put my finger on it, just too much of some kind of spice, and if that was ribeye I couldn't taste it. Had a couple slices of other "specialty" pizzas. Nothing struck me. Then there's the Boloney Rex sandwich. Comes with the bone hanging out of the wrap. Once you get past this gimmick and pull the bone out of it.... Not a lot of meat on this thing, and it's just a soggy sloppy mess. The meat was ok... but for 35 bucks it fell way short. Specialty pizzas.... D+/C- Boloney Rex sandwich ..... F Weird off the wall soda.... D

Finally made my way to Tony B's

Small venue on a side street in the heart of Hoboken's nightlife. It has that late night vibe. Like the perfect place to go after a night of drinking. Bright interior, & metered parking all around. Parking is never easy in Hoboken though. I went right for it.....the social media famous Boloney Rex. It did not disappoint. The meat was tender, & in abundance. The balance of cheese & sauce was perfection. Even the bread contributes! Too often a "viral sandwich" is just slapped on bread as if it doesn't contribute to the overall experience. Not in this case. The bread was toasted to give it a bit of flavor, yet remained soft. It's an expensive sandwich, but VERY good. Even the temperature was perfect. Hot, yet not so hot that you couldn't dive right in & get down to business. Worth the trip. Many other items I've seen on social media from them were there, & others ordered them, including their crazy over the top (in a good way) pizzas. That'll be for next time. Grade: Boloney Rex: A+

    Tikka - Slice ($6)

Must try: Lobsta Trap and Tikka Pizza! Why: What a bada$$ place with a unique menu and creative worldly flavors! If you love mozzarella, this is the place for you. The Lobsta Trap was the reason why I trekked from Manhattan to Hoboken, and it was worth it! It was a huge sub big chunks of steamed lobster mixed with garlic aioli, bayou butter, celery salt and covered in fresh mozzarella (mutz)! All the ingredients made each bite heavenly. As I waited for the lobster sub, I saw pictures of their pizza on the screen and had to try one of their slices so decided on Tikka. The Indian inspired pizza had tikka masala, paneer, chutney, and cilantro with mutz on a sesame crust. I loved the flavors on a slice! Notes: Small shop near the Hoboken Path Station with 3 large tables (~6 ppl each table) and some bar seating near front door. We arrived at 12:30pm on a Sunday and was able to get a table, but by 1pm they were packed. They have a bathroom in the back, which was needed after devouring the sub and pizza with my bare hands. I appreciated the diversity of flavors on their menu inspired by cuisine around the world. They also have vegan options. Can't wait to come back and try more!

Came in to try the Swine fighter and also went home with the F'g Gindonline and Log Cabin Creeper slices. It took a minute to find a parking spot out front (oh the joys of Hoboken parking). The order was ready to go and the server was very nice. I ended up loving the latter two slices a lot because of the unique flavor combos. I liked the Swine Fighter but it was a lot of pepperoni. Next items to try are the sandwiches!

Good place for a quick bite in Hoboken. The pizza names are so unique and would love to try the different mozzarella sticks next time. I got a slice of the Burrata pizza and it was delicious. Service was quick.

This is my second time here .. but I must say as a New Yorker it is extremely difficult to find a good slice of pizza in New Jersey, and I've been on the hunt for YEARS !! After running into an Instagram post, I traveled 49 minutes to try this pizza!! There are so many different choices , but I was in the mood for the same one I saw posted online !! The only thing is, this is available for a pie only !! HOWEVER!!! Franklin was able too accommodate me and get as close as he can with the two slices we ordered !! I am very grateful and my appetite has been settled, amazing customer service !"Talk about going above and beyond ! As far as the ambiance, classic hip hop throwbacks playing faintly I'm the background to enjoy while waiting for your food, and not too loud at all, three bench tables indoors and a few tables available to enjoy your food outdoors !! If you pull up, remember to feed the meter, the enforcement guy ISSSSSS always lurking!!!

Limted time Hot Oil Pizza. More like sad spicy pizza.

I've only ever tried the Long Branch loaction and sang praises about the Magic Mushroom slice. This time, I ordered from Hoboken and I'm really sad to say that it didn't meet my expectations. I saw that Mikey Chen and Tony Baloney's were doing a collaboration where you can buy a limited time Hot Oil Pizza to support the fight against Asian Hate. 100% of pizza sales went to a good cause so I do not regret contributing. HOWEVER, in both Mikey Chen's and Tony Baloney's IG posts, the pizza looked a lot more appealing than what I recieved. It wasn't awful, but it just wasn't what was advertised. Basically a crust with only cheese, a brush of oil and red pepper flakes. Also the mozzarella sticks were tiny and sad, so don't waste your money on them. I'm all for supporting a great cause, but it doesn't mean you should put out a product that is lower than your standard.

Speaking only for the taco pizza and mozz sticks, a bit overhyped. The tacos were pretty solid, but with out it, the pizza is odd with just guac on it. Tip is probably to mix the taco meat all over the slice. The mozzarella had a good cheese pull but the seasoning on the breading was a bit off and too thick. It was also $$$ just for these two.

an experience like no other. Decided to take a late night trip from nyc to see what the hype was about! In fact it was well worth it! We were greeted with a warm smile from Frankie who honestly made my experience so much better. He guided us through the menu and made it easy to order. With only 15 remaining before closing, Frankie took his time and made me want to support businesses like this. Being a small business owner myself makes me want to continue coming here because people like Frankie make the food taste ten times better. We went with the short rib famous sandwich and the cheesesteak original which was featured on foot network. Both were phenomenal. I'll definitely be back!!! Ps. Promote Frankie to manager and give him a raise. He will make this business flourish ! Excellent customer service !

Food was definitely Instagram worthy. We tried 3 different things to get the range. We came for the Thundercat. It was tasty but there was hardly any chicken. Kinda thought the chicken should stand out more than anything else. The Fuckin Gindalune was ok. It was just a slice with mozzarella and beef. Nothing to write home about. But the $15 Taco Taco Taco slice was YUMMY! Only one criticism about it: they should've used a flour tortillas BUT I understand that the flour tortillas wouldn't have held up in that pie. The guacamole was FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC and the meats in the tacos were on point. That pickled pink sauce: DELISH! The service was kind & the place was clean as can be. I would go back.

    S#itfaced chicken wings YUMMY!
    Paulette S.

The food was amazing. We tried the S#itfaced chicken wings and the s#itfaced sub. Sooooo good. Best damn wings I've ever had. Not much seating but not a deal breaker. My only issue the bathroom could use a cleaning. I've seen better ones at gas stops. Street parking only. Service was good.

Grumpy gramps slice & heart attack slice . Both not good & they were huge slices

The space was not large, but they really made the most of it, offering a decent number of tables with reasonable space between them. My friend and I were quickly seated and immediately greeted by a charming server that opened our bottle of wine (it's BYO) and offered us still or sparkling water. I had read in other reviews that you had to pay for water, so I was not surprised by the $6 bottle of Saratoga that wound up on our bill. In addition to our engaging server and the happening atmosphere, the food was similarly incredible. We decided to order a load of things to share, so that we could try a greater variety. We started with two appetizers that were seasonal Spring additions to the menu. The Hamachi Crudo included five thickly-sliced, tender pieces of Japanese yellowtail sitting in a broth of rhubarb aguachile and topped with white strawberries and basil seeds. It was an unique blend that we would not have expected to work, but boy was it delicious! The sweet toppings infused a load of flavor into an otherwise mild fish. We also enjoyed the Fava-mole, a creamy puree of fava beans studded with balls of hand-pulled mozzarella and pea tendrils, all drizzled with zesty ramp oil. I had not been sure what to expect from the dish, but it offered fresh, bright garden flavors. We also decided to share a pasta course and an entree. The Fettuccini was tossed with spring truffles and maitakes in a light, yet heavily aromatic, wild mushroom cream sauce. It was one of the best dishes I had had in quite some time. Then, as we were waiting on our seafood entree, we received a second pasta, courtesy of the Chef. I had mentioned that I had heard rave reviews about Flour from a server at Heirloom Kitchen, a top NJ restaurant. Apparently, our waiter had let the Chef know about that glowing praise, and the kitchen further verified that positivity with the generous gesture. In fact, they wound up sending out the Linguine with white clam sauce, razor clams, and wild ramps, the other dish about which I had been most curious anyway. Well, it was another winner! It was garlicky, herbaceous, and rich with flavors of the sea. Speaking of seafood, we next received the Branzino 'Bahn mi', a perfectly cooked piece of Mediterranean sea bass with Vietnamese sausage and pickled vegetables. The branzino's crispy skin and flaky, moist interior were excellent, and we loved all of the other smoky and briny flavors on the plate. After all of that excellent food, we would have loved to try one of their appealing desserts, but we were just too full. Between the ambiance, welcoming vibe, and delicious cuisine, our Flour experience was simply divine! It has now became one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and I cannot wait to try their pizza at some point as well.

I was a big fan of both, especially the ricotta, which was so incredibly creamy. For the mains, everyone's fresh-made pasta was excellent. I ordered the Mexican street corn, which was unique, flavorful, and delicious. I also tried some of the spicy rigatoni and loved it. We ended the night with the s'mores dessert, which was rich and chocolatey. Also, the fact that the restaurant is BYOB is a huge plus! The only downside was that I lost an item during our visit. I had a really hard time finding their contact information online, so I had to go back in person to ask about it, which was a bit annoying. Ultimately, they weren't able to recover it, but the food itself was still outstanding.

I was at first hesitant but the bruschetta they use is so good. The pizza isn't soggy and there's just so much topping. I also really like the Ciao bello with red sauce. Garlicy and saucy but again, not soggy. Love their pizza! Great for families and they have outdoor seating.

I came to Napoli's in Hoboken to satisfy my craving for some casual and homey Italian food - and…read morethey did just that. We tried the 1/2 vodka (add pepperoni) 1/2 spicy buffalo chicken pizza in the personal size, as it seemed to be two of their most popular pizza flavors. This "personal" size pizza was actually quite sizable, 3 slices of each flavor and definitely enough to share alongside our pasta. Both flavors were good, but maybe my expectations were too high. The vodka sauce was flavorful, but I was a little disappointed by the amount of pepperonis they gave us when we added that topping to one side. The buff chicken had a good classic buffalo flavor but wasn't that spicy, and came with your choice of either ranch or blue cheese drizzled on top. Although a little soggy as expected, the pieces of fried chicken tender on the pizza were well coated in Buffalo flavor. However, the Blackened Chicken Pasta honestly blew me away. Tons of large chicken pieces, peppers, and onion all tossed together with penne in a creamy Cajun sauce. The blackened flavor really came through and this pasta was so yummy and satisfying, while not being too heavy or overly creamy. Penne was also a perfect al dente! My only gripe with this establishment was the cleanliness. Our tap waters had a pretty bad taste, I actually ended up ordering a Coke as I did not want to drink the water. It smelled a bit sour in the air as well. However, many of the best family run restaurants out there are often not the cleanest or nicest ambiance, so I wasn't expecting top tier hygiene - but the bad water taste made me slightly uneasy. Our server was very attentive and patient with any questions we had, and made our overall experience wonderful. It seems like this is a really popular to-go spot for locals in the area, the dining room is smaller but decorated with cute NYC subway theming which I loved as an MTA enthusiast. Would return for the Blackened Chicken Pasta!
