Nice place with really low quality dining. - The Calamari was bland, cold and chewy, definitely started as frozen Calamari, which after being fried sat and got cold before it arrived at our table. - The stacked salad ought to be good right? The Ahi was not fresh, my guess is that it was probably frozen too, so the texture was really weird. Also the stacked salad with the two huge crackers is ridiculously inconvenient to eat. First time here. I stopped by right before close and picked up a couple pies tonight. They were pretty good. Both were cooked well. Better than most options in the area. The toppings on the small pizza were haphazardly placed, leaving slices with nothing. There could of been more toppings as well. The crust is good, has a nice chew to it. I came across this place by chance while in the area, and I can say with certainty that I will be returning every chance I get. I was immediately greeted by Luigi upon entering and he took care of me for the duration of my visit. His presentation of the menu, the story of the restaurant, and the unique practices therein were exceptionally refined and informative. There were several lunch specials to choose from alongside the standard menu and I elected to have their pizza; likely the best slice I have encountered in the Austin area (and I grew up there). Over the course of my visit, I was individually engaged by the manager and the chef, both of which were very welcoming. Good pasta and pizza can be found here, along with friendly servers and staff. Jacob is particularly friendly and attentive. The only issue I have with this place is that they started serving at full capacity before I felt it was appropriate and now the staff don't even wear masks, nor encourage their customers to wear them. This is a small restaurant, and social distancing is not possible, so it's a little nerve-racking to get so close to strangers, even though I'm vaccinated, with their lack of concern regarding the spread of Covid. read more

I have always loved this place. My boss had it catered randomly once for lunch, and everything was amazing. The bruschetta, garlic knots, pizza... amazing. Their toasted ravioli and margarita pizza are my favorites. Tonight I came for happy hour and accidentally knocked my drink all over the table and ALL over my toasted ravioli. Tried the vegetarian and the carnivore to get the best both both worlds. It was the best.. of both worlds! I'm not much of a pizza person, but haven't had a vegetarian pizza where I could TASTE the grilled sweetness of the vegetables used. The pesto was a nice touch. Not overly cheesy or saucy, just the right amount of ingredients to allow you to appreciate the pizza and leave you feeling full without feeling overly oil. Ambience - The vibe going here is very chic, upscale and lounge like. The interior is mood lighting with dimmed lights and simple yet tasteful modern decor and furniture. There is a wall made of empty wine bottles, a huge wine cellar area to eat in and a modern bar with a glass backdrop. Throw in some jazz or a piano and you got a nice mob hideaway. Menu - The menu isnt very vast but it hits all the key items for an Italian place. Their main claim to fame is their pizza's which come from a brick oven, but a lot of places are doing that now so it isnt that special. Brick ovens do make better pizzas thou. They have your normal salads, pizzas, lasagna, pasta dishes and even a gluten free option. Seriously? Who the F*** goes to an Italian place and want gluten free? Ugh way to ruin things for everyone. Anyways, the menu is very standard, i didnt see any signature items or new takes on Italian food. Their pizza selection is nice and varied and the ingredients in some of the pizzas is very top notch. Which is good, they have a higher quality of food. If you like wine, then this place is popping, they have a huge selection of wine here. So if you and your wino friends and family want a nice selection then this is the place. As par most Italian places the price point is kinda high. Service - Came in with the wife around 3:00 and as soon as we walk in there wasnt anyone around. We waited about a min and a manager came up and told us to have a seat wherever we like. So we pick one and are told our server will be right with us. So the server we had was actually really nice and very pleasant. The only problem was we rarely saw him, however this is not entirely his fault. As we were there i noticed that the place wasnt busy but it wasnt dead either. I didnt see any other crew members up front except for him. So no points deducted for him as he was helping everyone in the store plus running the bar. Now this is were points do get deducted. While we were there we observed several people who looked like managers or corporate people all sitting at a table near me and my wife. I figure this as i saw them use the POS system, go into the kitchen and so on. The wife and I made several eye contacts with them throughout our stay but we never saw any of them help the server out. Im not saying that the server needed help but the fact that i had to wait several minutes between each encounter with the server, he probably could have used a hand with small things like refills. I dont know, it just rubbed me the wrong way to see a bunch ( 5 - 6 ) managers sitting in the dining room not helping the guests and having one guy run the show. We didnt even get a table touch to see how things were going. -10 points. Food - I got the Primo Pizza which had Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Onions and olives and the wife got the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken. We also ordered the garlic fries and they were really good. Perfectly cooked, seasoned well and not too much oil. The wifes food was a bowl of noodles, sauce and chicken. The pasta was cooked well and the sauce was very pleasant, it also was a little different than most Alfredo sauces which i gave it a nice personal touch, i liked this take on it. The chicken was also seasoned well and cooked nicely to where it was still juicy and not dry. My wifes food was pretty good, but nothing super special. Now my disappointment comes from my food. If your claim to fame is something then it needs to be on point. My pizza was very lackluster and i couldnt even eat it. It comes on a thin dough and then assembled in the back and then cooked for a very minutes. And i have been to other places that do it this way and it came out way better. First off, my pizza was greasy as F***. Well yeah duh, you had pepperoni and sausage on there. No, False, a total Dwight Schrute False. I have had other places with the same toppings and it wasnt this bad. So my pizza was extremely soggy and was just filled with grease. I know us Americans love greasy food but damn i could feel it just ooze its way down my throat and veins. It caused the rest of the ingredients to taste off and the texture was slick and gross. I had 2 slices and i was done. You couldnt taste anything except the grease. Second, the dough itself wasnt cooked all the way either, it was very very very chewy. It was like trying to chew a rubber sole and swallow it. Then there was also very little sauce or cheese. The main reason this is upsetting is that those 2 items is what holds the ingredients together and in place. So when i went to grab my first slice, i pulled it off the tray and everything on the slice literally slid off and onto the table and plate and i was left holding a limp piece of undercooked play-doh. I dont mind being a neanderthal and eating stuff off a table but come on dudes. Always excellent food and service. The only recommendation I would make is that wait staff needs to be quicker at cleaning the finished salad and dinner plates off the table. Salad plates shouldn't remain once your dinner is served and table should be emptied and wiped down before dessert is served. Other than that, we always have a great experience. read more

Reasons why I love Tony C's: 1. Lunch specials are reasonably priced and have a nice variety. 3. Tuesdays is buy one pizza, get one free. 4. Wednesdays is 1/2 priced bottles of wine. 5. Pizza always is tasty. I prefer the Primo, it's loaded with Italian sausage, pepperoni, black olives, red peppers, mushrooms and caramelized onions. I onions in their caramelized state make the pizza extra delicious. 6. Wait staff always attentive. Whenever I go here, which is usually around lunch time, I never have to wait long for my food and drinks. 7. Sydney the waitress (the one with the purple hair) was friendly as could be and very attentive. So my wife and pre-COVID came here at least once a week. Usually on Wednesday half price bottles. Since then have been in the last year 5 times, every time the service gets a little less. Tonight my wife and I were the only ones in the Resturant, and the cook can't get to meals out at the same time and the bartender is clueless as to what was happening. So I ask for the manager and ask is the a reason why two meals can't come out at the same time. RESPONSE " I have no clue." Recommend stay away until they can regroup and get this right. This was our first visit to this location. We usually go to the Bee Cave location but this one is closer for us. Wow. They have the best pizza. We got pepperoni. It's thin, sauced perfect, done perfect. The sauce has a great robust flavor. Nice Italian spices. It's just darn good. My favorite pizza by far of thin NY style in town. I tried there house salad.
