The crew returned the next day at 8:30 AM to work on the problem. With less than two hours of work on the job, his crew had the A/C up and working again. Note, the A/C was out since the weekend and these recent days all have been 100 degrees plus weather. We hired Tony Tran Construction to build a Brand New Don's Deli on Cottle Road in South San Jose a couple of years ago. From there on, everything I needed, I called Tony, from fixing the faucet leaks to adding a 40 Amp Electrical outlet on my 2nd Deli in Sunnyvale or replacing the toilet on my 3rd Deli in Santa Clara. He always responded right away. This is a trust that Tony has established with me and my company. We took over the Subway Sandwich shop in Mt. View recently. We asked Tony to install a brick like wall to match the theme for the stores. Tony pointed out the wall height was not level. On the left side, the height from the ground to the ceiling is 96 inches and 96.5 inches from the right side. Some how, he and his team were able to install a full line of brick tiles at the top. No slant tiles. No 1/2 inch gap. This precision workmanship requires attention to detail that Tony and his team has delivered and we are totally delighted. 3 days ago, we needed a plumber to install a 3/8 inch Angle stop for our Pepsi machine. I called Tony and he was in New Jersey to spend Christmas with his family. Tony gave me Tu's phone number. Tu is one of his best workers. Tu came within 30 minutes to finish his work. When I gave him some cash. Tu said " I work for Tony and Tony asked me to take care of you. No Charge ". I tried to give him money the second time. He refused. We are on a tight budget but he made it work according to our budget and contrary to one review that he does not cater to low end communities like our. He always replied to my texts and phone calls promptly. His communication is fantastic and gives details of what is suppose to be done. We live in an condominium complex in Rio Verde Place in Milpitas. Our home has 3 bedrooms and only 1 bath with 4 adults and 3 children. When Tony first came to our place, he told me the bathroom remodel would take 2 weeks to complete and he said that we would not have any place to take a bath during the construction. Due to the condo having only one bathroom, We booked hotel stay for 2 weeks from July 29th to August 13th which is not cheap. Tony started by helping us getting the approvals for the HOA and City of Milpitas Permit. The transition was smooth and it only took days for the HOA to approve the proposal. Tony took us to several places to choose the materials and he personally picked them up and delivered to our home. Knowing that we are in a tight schedule plus the hotel expenses, Tony and his employees started the demolition on Sunday,July 29th and they worked around the clock to finish everything on Aug 9th saving us 3 nights of hotel stay. We just bought a new home in West San Jose, nearby Cupertino. Our Objective was having our home totally renovated before we move in. Not much to ask right? After interviewing the top 4 contractors in San Jose. We selected Tony Tran Construction. Tony came across as a General Contractor we can trust. He has a calm manner and he is passionate about his works. He extends his passion as a Jet Pilot who flew the U.S made A-37 Dragonfly Jet Airplane to what he does now. Tony is extremely detailed oriented and he cares about his customers. Our kitchen is very tiny and we asked Tony for his ideas. Tony suggested that we remove the load-bearing walls to extend the kitchen. Andy, a Foreman of Tony's team is supremely talented. Our existing 100 AMP Electrical panel was upgraded to 200 AMP panel with a Tesla Charger in the garage. Our home was built in 1966 and there were no ground wires to Electrical outlets and switches. We asked Tony to remove non-ground wirings to the new Electrical wirings the entire home. The squeaking noise on the floor was fixed before installing Vinyl Pergo with 5 1/4 inch baseboards. Tony spent the time by taking us to his vendors to select the Kitchen Cabinets, Countertop, Vinyl Pergo and baseboards. Here is our report for the workmanship and working with Tony Tran Construction: The new textures on walls and ceilings were perfectly matching our existing textures so you can't tell the drywall were cut, patched and painted. The siding around the Front door were extremely matched the existing siding and you can never tell the door was moved 3 ft to the Left. The Kitchen countertops were installed in perfection that you can't feel the joints and the cabinets were also installed perfectly as well. One nice touch: Tony installed screw-less faceplates on all outlets and switches to make them look nice without charging us extra. There were 2 Change Orders to our additional requests and Tony was wonderful by giving us great discounts. Tony and his team worked continuously 6 days a week to finish our home 4 days ahead of schedule. One of our friends hired other contractor and their Kitchen wasn't finished in 5 weeks. Tony and his team finished our entire home in 4 weeks. Tony had a Professional Cleaning team to clean our entire home before we moved in. We asked Tony to haul away the debris left by our Landscaper. We found Tony Tran from a co-worker's refer and we are very glad we did. We wanted to build 840 square feet room addition in the back of our home, added another bathroom plus replacing carpet to laminated floor coverings, added additional A/C unit to 2 bedrooms, replaced all interior doors, baseboards and painted the entire interior to our existing home. After interviewed with couple contractors, we decided to select Tony as our contractor based on his personality and his workmanship on 3 visits to his previous clients. They all said highly of Tony. We set a deadline for Tony to finish or project in 5 months. If Tony is late, then he must pay a fine of $2500 for each month passing the due date. Tony finished right on schedule. What we impressed the most was we did not have to pay anything upfront until each inspection passed. In addition, each inspection meet all the specs requirement, there was no correction notice given to our project. Tony is very patience, caring, and understanding person. We owned a small townhouse. It originally had 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. We wanted to add another bathroom downstairs and do a whole house remodel before we move in. Finding a trustworthy contractor was our main concern. I work at an architecture firm so I have heard and witness many issues and conflicts between the contractors and owners. When we first met Tony, he told us that he strongly believes "home remodeling should be a very pleasant experience". We were skeptical at first and don't know if he can deliver the project smoothly. He shared with us his story of how he was a jet pilot trained by the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and then he extended his passion from a jet pilot to what he is doing now. I thought to myself, if he could fly a jet airplane by himself flying faster than 500 miles an hour, then this construction job should be a piece of cake for him. My wife and I felt that we could trust Tony as our contractor. A quick note about my wife. She is an extreme clean freak and she is extremely OCD about cleanliness. Beside that she has high attention to details that would require very high standard of craftsmanship. Overall, she has strong aesthetic standard and it is very difficult to please her. Tony's team worked 6 days a week. Every time we stopped by to see the progress, there were always workers at the site ready to assist us with our questions. Working with Tony and his team has been a pleasure. We never had any arguments and had a lot a laugh along the way from start to finish. Andy, the site superintendent, was very incredible with top of the line craftsmanship. He was super focus on the fine details and thorough with all aspect of the project. You promised to start my bathroom AS SOON AS YOU got back. But you took another job even though you committed to start mine right away. You tried working with me? More like giving me scraps with not even your normal crew and LATE. Yeah I started with another contractor because you blew me off and pushed me out. Why would I wait another week for you when I already waited a month. Just own up to it. This review is for customer service only. I can't attest to how his work is because Tony ended up flaking on us. This went from what could have been a 5 star review to now a 1-star review due to dishonesty and unreliability. We had a unfortunate toilet leak which left our toilet unusable which also prompted our decision to remodel. We got multiple bids on our small bathroom remodel (I'll get to the small part later) and decided to go with Tony because during our first encounter, he kept stressing about how important his customers are to him and how important his customers' trust is in him so we thought we were in good hands. We wanted to get started right away so he took us out to a couple of places to pick out finished materials. We had good luck with the tiles but bad luck with the cabinet/vanities. The place he took us had very small selection and the the quality looked really poor. So we said that we'd look at a few more places before we get started. Meanwhile, he had to leave for Vietnam the following week we contacted him for a whole month, so we ended up with a whole month to look for the vanity to fit our needs. Well it didn't take us long to find what we needed but we had to wait for Tony to get back before he got started. He kept telling us that he could get started as soon as he gets back from Vietnam and for us to "wait for him". Yes, wait for him while our toilet doesn't work. But we had another bathroom so we decided to wait for him. We had other contractor options to get started sooner but he told us to "wait for him". I email him while he's away letting him know we have our stuff and wanted to start as soon as he gets back and he again tells us he'll contact us when he gets back. Well, I finally chase him down when he finally gets back and he tells us he can't start our job for another few weeks. 2 of his 4 guys left him which is why he couldn't start with us. Well, that means he has 2 guys left right? The biggest problem wasn't that he "lost 2 guys". It was his tone. He was never apologetic. He kept saying it wasn't his fault yet it was his business. And then!!! He tried to blame me for him not being able to get started. He said "had I picked up my materials and had it ready at my house, his two other guys could have worked on my bathroom while he was away". First of all, what contractor tells his customer, a woman, with as small car to go pick up hundreds of pounds of tile and grout and a vanity and slab her self and bring it home herself and unload it herself?? No one. I know this because I have had other work done on my house. I pick out material, I pay for it, but the contractor with their trucks and vans pick it up. Second: not once. Not one time, did he even allude to the fact that he had other guys that could work on my bathroom while he was away. He knew how urgent my situation was because of the non functioning toilet but he kept telling me to WAIT for him to get back from Vietnam. He didn't say to us, as soon as we had our vanity picked out, someone from his team can work on our bathroom. All we got was wait for him to get back from Vietnam. I kept asking about the other 2 guys and he kept dodging the question until it finally came out. He took another job. I doubt he lost two guys; my guess is he took another more expensive job. Our job was small but when do you commit to a customer and then pull back because you got a bigger job? It's like a Barista at Starbucks shouting out to a line full of customers: "who here is ordering and expensive venti drink? You come come to the front of the line" it's wrong. So in the end, he may do good work (I don't know) but his unreliability, bad customer service convinces me not to work with him. Bonus on the review: this guy is so predictable. I will bet anyone that he will respond to this review either claiming he's never worked with me before (but I have phone call logs and emails) or he'll blame me, the customer for his flaking on me and not meeting his commitments. Take a lesson and get some class, if you mess up, just apologize for your mistakes. No excuses, no blaming someone else, just apologize for the mess up and maybe earn some respect back. read more

I have a small home in Santa Clara that needed renovating before I could move to Michigan. I bought the home in 2000 in an 'as is' condition and never got around to making the improvements I originally planned. My home was built in 1953 and very few changes were made since. I tried having someone come in to fix the kitchen floor and I ended up with subpar results and unplanned costs. That caused me to live in the fixer upper since I didn't trust someone to do a quality job without ripping me off. Tony Tran was recommended by a co-worker who had his bathroom remodeled. It was absolutely beautiful! I called Tony when I decided to relocate to see if he could help me out. Tony walked through the house and gave me an honest assessment of what should be changed and what could be left as is. I had a fixed budget that I couldn't exceed. I went into the meeting thinking we would replace windows, refinish the hardwoods, remodel the bathroom, rip the ugly screen porch off the back of the house and then paint inside and out. We ended up doing so much more, and did I mention I had a fixed budget? When the movers emptied the house two weeks later I met again with Tony and gave him the keys. I left for Michigan that day. He started the whole home remodel that afternoon! Tony is honest and was definitely in my corner to transform the house into something that would sell, and sell over asking price. Everything that was done between us from that first day was through email, text or phone. He started with the bathroom and gave me options for the tile. He has excellent taste and from then on I pretty much let him choose. He still sent me pictures for my approval but I really just left it up to him. The quality in the bathroom alone is worth 5 stars! I didn't originally plan to do anything with the kitchen because I thought it would be a bridge too far. The estimate, including the kitchen, was something I decided I could meet and it would help make the house more marketable. He ended up tearing out the wall between the kitchen and the dining room and remodeled the entire space. It is now a brand new, wide open, beautiful kitchen with Gray Cabinets, Quartz Countertops and a beautiful matching backsplash. He installed top of the line appliances along with a farm house sink. Tony could have installed cheaper materials to make more money but he didn't. I asked him to replace 2 windows in front of the house with cracks around the frame, both interior and exterior. Tony was able to seal the cracks and make both windows look brand new which saved me money. He suggested using that money to install recessed lights for the entire home. The lights turned out beautifully! The original Oak hardwood floors (66 yrs old) have been sanded and re-finished and look Gorgeous!! Tony added new baseboards and casing in a Shaker Style which makes them look modern. The budget also included upgrading to 200 Amp Electrical panel to provide enough circuits as required by the City. All outlets and switches in my home had no ground (original 1953 wiring). Tony asked his employees to open the sheetrock and they ran brand new Electrical wiring for the entire home at his cost. I had no exterior Electrical outlets in the home. It made for a depressing Christmas without being able to hang lights!! Tony installed 3 of them at his cost. At the end of the job, I asked him to install exterior lights, a new Mail box and a new door bell. Tony obliged without charging extra labor. I really don't know how he made any profit on this remodel! Since I am about 2000 miles away communication is very important to me. Tony always answered my calls/texts and kept me in the loop for status updates. I contacted a real estate agent and we scheduled a completion date. Tony texted me pictures of completed items and then he sent the invoices of the completed tasks. No Advance payments were requested. When I flew back to meet with Tony and the Realtor I couldn't believe the transformation, and all within 3 months!! I wished that I had discovered Tony years ago!! I now wish he was available to work in Michigan! If you want good quality work, beautiful results, and want to work with an honest and trustworthy contractor give Tony a call! Update: This might be unusual to call out someone else in a Yelp Review but I selected Al Moridi to be my realtor. Tony did a fantastic job converting my fixer upper into a thing of beauty! 5 stars!!! Al Moridi took that remodeled house and worked his magic to list it. We received multiple offers, all over asking, and accepted an offer within a week. Al Moridi also gets 5 stars! Both Tony and Al did an excellent job, all while I was remote, and I sold the house for more than I thought possible. I chose two 5-star gentlemen and the results exceeded my expectations. Tony's price was great, but more importantly his service was tremendous. He did so many little extra things and was forward thinking on so many aspects. What I appreciate the most is 1. He kept me updated on the project and stuck to the timeframe 2. He used quality material that is built to last. We had been planning a total renovation of our home and had been talking to contractors from all over the Bay Area. Then we met with Tony from Tony Tran construction. He was a very soft spoken gentleman and very knowledgeable. Out of the four contractors that we had bids from, his was the most comprehensive and we decided to go with him. Work started in February of 2020 and the pandemic hit us hard in March of 2020. However, that did not deter Tony or his team. They had estimated three months of work but even with all the obstacles, they finished the job in four months. We were very impressed with their professionalism and the high quality of their work. All the people in his crew were always polite and professional. Not only did they finish the work with minimal delays, he helped us take care of all issues that came up once we moved back into the house. We had a shower head that started leaking a few months after it has been installed. Tony's crew came in and fixed it very promptly. Even to this day, whenever we have any issues with something not working or getting broken, Tony has always been very responsive and steps in to get things fixed. We interviewed 4 General Contractors and made our decision to go with Tony Tran. His knowledge and experience was far superior to the other contractors. Also, Tony's price was the best ! We had major water damage from a toilet on the 2nd floor of our home leaking and then the water made it's way down to the 1st floor and semi flooded our kitchen and family room. The ceiling had to have a 4ft. by 6 ft. section cut out to repair the damage and Tony's team did a great job repairing the ceiling by replacing the dry wall and then texturing it for a perfect match with the rest of the ceiling. Then they painted the entire ceiling and the walls. Looks better than New, Excellent job ! Next the entire floor needed to be replaced in the kitchen and family room, Old flooring had to be removed and then we had ceramic tile installed with all new baseboards as well. Tony's team with "Marcus" leading, did an amazing job !! The tiles were perfectly cut and leveled. Tony's team was very professional and courteous. Tony Tran Construction (TTC): Performed an executive level remodel of our guest bathroom. This involved: full demolition and installation of: a new vanity, toilet and shower, scone lights in vanity mirror and ceiling can lights. TTC also installed a linear drain in shower and minor relocation of sewer for toilet. Adjacent to the full glass shower is a new pony wall, constructed from an original bathroom wall. This required moving switch circuitry for the bathroom lights and fan. The entire bathroom, shower and floor is finished off in Italian tile. TTC moved a tankless water heater from a closet, adjacent to the shower, into the ceiling, and finished off the closet by painting to match original. Additionally, we had a water softener installed to supply the whole house. During our first meeting with Tony Tran (business owner), he took careful notes on all of the details of this project. When we requested a quote, he said that he had to first spec out the labor for us. After one week, we had a detailed punch list of the work with the labor cost stated for each line item, the total labor cost and list of items that we must shop for, and what places to go. While we were waiting for Tony's quote we met with another contractor for a competing bid. The major difference here was that the 2nd contractor stated a higher price for our bathroom remodel, and quickly invited us to his showroom to discuss a contract. He didn't say up front that his quote only included labor. But upon seeing a punch list with no individual costs for labor, and a listing of several material items that we must buy separately, outside of his quoted price, we became suspicious. This is the standard for all contractors, but we were allowed to believe that materials were included in the bid. We were also felt pressure to sign which we ultimately did not. This distinction between these businessmen is important. Since contractor skills in the bay area are in so high demand, we felt that these pressure tactics were standard behavior. Indeed, another contractor required a $1500 retainer to pay for working with their consultant to design plans. None of these tactics were used by Tony Tran. Without conditions, he gave us the most detailed proposal and provided time to consider. His labor prices are neither the lowest, nor the highest, but the quality of his work is absolutely superb! Tony's crew of contractors were dedicated to their skill. They are professionals that when accessing my house were always respectful. At key points of the project, if they were uncertain about how we wanted the installation to look they would ask, such as options on installing the tile, or hidden problems with the original construction being out of code. We were always kept in the loop. They advised us on including a water softener to protect our investment from hard water on the glass shower and tile job. They paid attention to the finest details. Eventually when we fully remodel our home, Tony Tran Construction will have the job. At this time, I see no need to shop around for other contractors. read more

We first hired Tony for a major remodeling project at our home - demolish And rebuild a brand new kitchen from floors to ceiling. Reinstall hardwood floors in the house, upgrade all the doors and windows... The first thing I would like to say is that as big as the project was tony and his team always worked with us to make it a pleasant experience. As we discussed the project and the design Tony always told us upfront about any possible issues with the design or with the material we choose, making sure it also passed the city's inspection codes. Of course there were things going wrong here n there as with every remodeling but every single thing was taken care of without causing any trouble to us! The project timeline we were given was 4.5 weeks and it was delivered on dot. Anyone who has done any kind of remodeling knows very well how hard it is to keep withing the timeline, but Tony and his crew would even work weekends to make sure they meet the deadline. The result of all this is our beautiful kitchen which was delivered just as designed and promised. We recently got our bathrooms remodelled and had to hire someone else as Tony wasn't available this summer. From day 1 this started to be a disastrous project with us finally having to fire the other contractors after 6 weeks (with just 25% of the work done). Tony came to our rescue and needless to say delivered the usual high quality work in two weeks. I am glad we found Tony Tran Construction and highly recommend them. Recently we hired Tony to remodel our bathroom. He was a pleasure to work with. At the beginning, he told us that it will take 10 days to finish the project and he completed the project right on schedule. In his original estimation, he hadn't include the floor tile change, but he was able to accommodate that without any extra charge. Towards the very end, we were pleasantly surprised when his workers asked to provide the paint, something we were planning to do ourselves. Again no extra charge. The two workers were great to work with and they did such a phenomenal job installing tiles, shower head and shower door. On materials side, Tony referred us to couple of store and we were able to get very good deals. Overall, a great experience and in future Tony will be the first person to contact if we need anything else to take care of. The project involved converting an existing Master Bathroom to a Bedroom and by framing, moving walls of a walk in closet to create a bathroom. Tony was fantastic, great communication, for a 4 week project he came in a week ahead of schedule. On budget and he also took care of a couple of issues that cropped up once we opened up the walls.
