I took it in because it failed the safety inspection.. not only did Tony do a thorough job with the checkup, but he also gave me a new sticker for free after the job was done so I wouldn't have to go back to the shop where I got the safety inspection done. The quote he gave me was unbeatable - I compared it against at least 3 other shops and his prices were the best. His overall approach was also very relaxed and he didn't try to pressure me into getting any unnecessary services done, unlike another repair shop where I went to before visiting Tony who charged me 2x+ and were extremely pushy in their overall approach.. scaring me into believing it was a "serious, life-threatening" issue and that I must get it fixed from them. After that awful experience, I appreciated how genuine, quick and honest Tony's approach felt. As a rule I usually don't trust auto mechanics, and in the Boston area I have found my fair share of bad apples. This place has been awesome for me. I only went because I really needed and oil change and my car was making the noise it makes when the belts need to be changed. When I dropped the car off I told him exactly what I wanted and no more because price was an issue. He called a few hours later to tell me that he could tighten my belts so that they would last a lot longer, thereby saving me a couple of hundred dollars. It has been over a year now and a few oil changes later that he is replacing them. This place is cheap, more than fair, and do amazing work in your time frame. It has been said before but I think Tony is the only honest mechanic I have ever gone to. Oftentimes, in the past, I went to a mechanic with some idea what is wrong thanks to Google. More often than not, the mechanic magically found at least one other problem in addition to what I came in for, oftentimes doubling or tripling the cost. I attributed this disparity to my own ignorance... But since I have been going to Tony, I have had ZERO "add on" repairs. And it isn't as if he isn't doing a thorough job. I had a small leak in my gas tank. I must say that it was certainly a pleasure to deal with a straightforward mechanic. He located a used gas tank unit that was less expensive than buying a new one. This automotive part was reasonably priced. I would highly recommend him to anyone else that is experiencing car problems. I used to work across the street from Tony's. One day I went in there with one of my coworkers and the guy seemed pretty nice. I decided to start taking my vehicle there. Low and behold best decision I have ever made concerning vehicles. I live in Holbrook MA and I still take my and my fiancees vehicle there for work. Tony and his brother Henry are honest and legitimate mechanics. They have saved me around 1500 dollars. We needed to get both of our vehicles brakes done and we shopped around before Tony's came into my life. Not only did the mechanic that live next door to me want 1000 dollars per vehicle but he also told me my brakes wouldn't last 3 weeks. Tony said he would do them for half of that. Also he brought us into the garage and showed us the brakes and that we still had a good amount of brake pad left so we could last at least another 5K miles. That is the best part about Tony and his brother they show you the work they will do and then they show you the results after they do the work. Plus they dont scam you for all your worth they actually take care of their customers. Also Tony has always said he will have my car done by noon, I dont know how they do it but they do. I am beginning to think they have an army under Tony's and they just rotate the cars through and have them done by noon. Place is great!!! read more

After taking my car to the dealership for a check engine light/check up (mainly because I could get a free rental car and was too lazy to look around for other options), I felt utterly taken advantage of $800 later and decided to hold off on the $1000 dollars of work they additionally suggested and get a 2nd opinion. Since Tony's had the best reviews by far on yelp and was walking distance from my apartment, I decided to drop my car off. Less than 24 hrs and less than $300 later, my car was ready. Came here to have my car battery replaced. Was in and out in 30 minutes. Fast service but I'm sure this is dependent on how many cars they have in the shop at the time. Cost was 150 dollars total for parts and labor which was on point. I had looked at autozone to replace the battery myself and it was the same cost. I came here to save time, would go back again. Tony's is the best auto shop ever. They are honest (shocking, I know), patient and incredibly competent. Since Tony knows I am a cheapskate, I can always trust him to tell me when a problem is important, or if I can ignore it for awhile, or if it's just honestly not worth fixing. He will also tell me when it's no longer worth it to put $ in the junker du jour, and it's time to upgrade to a slightly less crappy ride. One of my tires had a slow leak so this morning I stopped by Sullivan tire, as it was on the way home, to see if they could find the problem...didn't know if it was a nail or the crack caused by these Boston potholes!! They couldn't look at it and wanted me to make an appointment for next week! Later in the day, I was driving past Tony's and I thought, why not just stop in and see. I've been there for other small things before. At first he was worried as I have racing type tires so his machine might scratch the rims but he said he would at least take a look and if it was a just a nail, the wheel stays on the car and they can fill it. Tony was absolutely GREAT! I have a subaru and its hard to find a reliable garage. My neighbor recommended Tony's and I couldn't be more pleased. Had to have 1 headlight replaced and I'd had a mystery leak coming from one of my tires. I had taken it to Subaru in Natick and after over $100 and a replaced tire pressure gage, the tire was still leaking. Took it to Tony's and the problem was fixed in just few hours (they were really busy too). Turns out the dealer never checked to see that the rim was sealed behind the tire and thats where the leak was. So for $40 my car is as good as new (new headlight and no more tire leak)! Thank goodness for Yelp and for Tony's Auto Service. It was Yelp that brought me to his repair shop and it was his repair shop's thoroughly professional job that will bring me back! After my car broke down on the Mass Pike late at night, I had it towed to a parking lot until I could figure out where to take it the next morning. After reading the reviews on Yelp, my first call was to Tony who said I could have it towed to his shop where he would be able to diagnose the problem. After doing so, he indicated that it had to do with the tension belt assembly (and not the alternator as the warning light had indicated). He fixed it in a timely fashion and even gave me a primer on the part itself; I typically like to see the part that has been replaced so I understand what is wrong with it. I first found out about Tony from my father... A man who doesn't trust easily and is a stickler for good honest service. He's been taking his cars to Tony since before Tony opened his own shop. After Tony left his old employer, my Dad followed him to his first shop on Craft St to his current location on Watertown St. Knowing how picky my father is, if he trusted Tony, he must be good. Every single time I come to him, even if it's with 10 minutes notice, he's available to help and do what he can. His turnaround times are unbelievable. Bear with me fellow Yelpers, this is a long review that begins with a story, but if you take the 3 minutes to read the following, I can almost guarantee that it will save you a few hundreds dollars on your next repair, and that you will be well taken care of in trusting your car repairs with Tony's. I have an '08 Ford Escape that I have put a lot of miles on in the last year, mostly for driving for Uber and Lyft. Needless to say, I have been to a number of repair shops in the Newton/ Waltham/ Watertown metro Boston area, and I have had some horror stories of being overcharged and scammed out of THOUSANDS of dollars. Most recently, I had a steering shaft that was worn out. I'm not an idiot, but I'm certainly not an expert on cars and repairs by any means. I took my car to Watertown Ford , and after a 3 hour " diagnosis" I was told I needed a new steering shaft, steering angle sensors, and a few other seemingly minor fix. Watertown Ford said the parts I needed were " very expensive" and it was going to cost me close to 2000 DOLLARS to fix, and wouldn't be ready for a few days. I genuinely wanted to yell at these people and raise some kind of epic hell. However, I bit my tongue, paid them 128 dollars for a "diagnosis fee" ( talk about highway robbery, I will be unloading a sea of negative reviews with them) , and headed over to Tony's, which is only a short walk from my home. I told Tony the issue, dropped my car off mid morning, and was told by Tony to expect a call in the afternoon with his diagnosis and a price. Tony was gracious and understanding, and sure enough called me exactly when he said he would. The price for fixing my car, I'm total for parts and labor? $280 dollars. Over $1500 less than the crooks over at Watertown Ford. When I picked up the car, everything was fixed, and he even added some oil to my car which it desperately needed, for no extra charge. In a society and industry where people see opportunities to completely rip off an unknowing customer, Tony is a true diamond in the rough. Having had my car been in so many different shops over the years, I will absolutely never go anywhere else again. An honest mechanic who actually works with the customer to avoid excess spending on car repairs is unheard of. Tony is a true diamond in the rough. He makes EVERY other mechanic I have ever dealt with look like bona fide criminals. Tony deserves nothing but the best review possible, for the work he does and his integrity in doing so is unmatched. Tony's is superior! Tony's was recommended by my boyfriend and he scored a great goal to my heart when he introduced me this trustful Tony's. My car gave me uncertain feeling when she was making so much noise and the brakes no longer reliable. It's 4pm and Tony's guys decided to change my brake pads immediately cos they believed that it's too dangerous for a girl like me to drive home with brake pads almost damaged. I don't know much about auto mechanics and it's so nice and honestly when Tony's guy show me how bad are my brake pads and what they will do, the result would be after they fix them (How great!!!)
