After seven years, I decided to give Tony's another chance, and it was barely a two-star experience. The pizza is overpriced, and the quality is lacking. The only topping they had left was pepperoni, a fact the staff seemed quite delighted to relay. The staff was as unhelpful as they were unfriendly. The slice was so sparse it seemed like they low-key ran out of cheese too. I paid $15.08 for two big, bland slices and two drinks and didn't leave a tip. While I was there a kid, took his filthy sneaker off and put it on the food table. The staff (of course) did nothing but look at him and then back at us. I just hope that they didn't do anything gross to our food. The entire experience felt so very chintzy. The iced tea really wasn't bad at all, which is about the only positive thing I can say. For those of you looking for real NY style pizza, this just misses the mark. All the ingredients are of low quality...the crust is cracker like and lacking a traditional good dough flavor and texture (something simply hard to miss IMO)..the sauce is not flavorful lacking spice, possibly watered down and catsup like. Also obviously the use of cheap low moisture cheese instead of whole milk mozzarella makes for a cheaper copy of authentic NY style flavor and consistency. Truthfully it seems the bros from Brooklyn opted to open several locations (six) as opposed to keeping it real like the original recipe using quality ingredients. read more

Don't really know how they have 4-starts other than they had a promotion for leaving them a good review. I spent a lot of money ordering here and I regret it. My order taste like cafeteria food. The pasta and cheese sticks were clearly sitting in a deep freezer and they thawed it out and served it. Absolute no taste other than tomato paste. First off let me say I'm born and raised from NY. I moved to Charlotte recently and close by is Tony's pizza that makes "NY style" pizza. The pizza is ok and might look like NY pizza but it's not NY styled. They're pizza is too thin crusted for one. The cheese does not give off the grease that NY pizza gives. It's quite cheesy that's all I'm going to say. NY pizza drips grease when you fold and eat it. The sauce isn't thick like NY sauce. What made me post this bc I ordered a "blanco pizza". In NY terms it's a "white pizza". I was disappointed. I only came here cause it was my last resort. They know what they need to improve. read more

This place really gives you a bang for your buck. The slices are humongous. The only takeaway is that the slices can be on the soggy side because of how thin they are. The best way to tackle it is to fold it in half or... take a knife and fork to it and get a little "sophisticated," lol. I decided to get three slices and a drink, and YES, IT HAD PINEAPPLE ON IT. Don't judge me, lol. I enjoyed all of my pizza and definitely couldn't finish it. I left with a slice and a half to take home. Oh! Their lemonade is BOMB too. The bathroom is clean yall, lol. The only takeaway here is that it is one stall, so it could be pristine... before Laura decides to walk in with her 2-year-old jussayin. I actually ate here yesterday. It was so good I had to double back. I initially went to the other location on Mt Holly- Huntersville Rd, I was disappointed from my experience there. I wanted 2 slices of Italian sausage pizza. They told me they don't offer Italian sausage per slice just cheese and pepperoni. Keep in mind I was just at the other location at Overland the day before. And I've never had this problem before. I didn't argue, I politely left. I was gonna go to Davinci's but I wanted to give them another shot. So I went back to the Overland location and received my order with no issues. Consistency is a big deal for me. Pizza was good. Service was quick. Price seemed reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised as two other local pizza places I tried did proved not to be worth going back to. This was NY style which I have not really had much of in the past, so I am not an expert by any means, however I can say it tasted good and the crust, cheese and ingredients seemed to be of good quality. My only comment would be to have had a few more toppings on the pizza. I found the presentation to be lacking some attention to detail in uniformity and quantity of the toppings requested. I've been in Charlotte for 25 years and Tony's was a staple for good pizza. I'm not sure what's been going on but the food has definitely changed. The last few times I've been here the food the terrible. The pizza isn't good at all. Today I had a chicken parm sub that was gross. The chicken tender (not cutlet) was clearly frozen and only partially cooked and the drowned it in cheese and bland sauce. To top it off the bread wasn't toasted. C'mon son! What are y'all doing? I ordered the veggie sub(cheese, banana peppers, onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, oil & vinegar, bell peppers, mushrooms). The sub was amazing and I was so impressed I went back a few days later for the same sub and again it was amazing. I also had a side salad that was ok but the star was definitely the sub. My friend is from NY and suggested that we check Tony's out for a late lunch since we both wanted pizza. When we arrived, there were only 3 people sitting in the restaurant, and social distancing was enforced (which was a plus). It was a very simple ordering process, so we ordered the 5 boroughs 15' pizza. It took about 15 minutes for it to be prepared, and it was well worth the wait. The pizza was so good!
