What an incredible restaurant and pizzeria! Can I tell you - we were blown away with the wonderful service and amazing food! You know the old saying, 'never judge a book by its cover?' That describes this place perfectly. It's not just a 'pizzeria.' The items offered on the menu could rival those found in NYC. The food is not only fresh - but it's incredibly delicious. The portions served are larger than what is often served today. We enjoyed the lasagna and firecracker salad. The lasagna tasted just like Nona made it, and the firecracker salad was seriously memorable! (Both were so good - we returned for a second time and enjoyed what we previously ate the first time). It was that good. We finished by sharing the 'tartufo.' No one within a 100 mile radius offers this on their menu. We were so happy to find this desert on Tony's menu. The service. This was genuinely one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Tony's was ridiculously overcrowded and clearly overbooked, and there seemed to be absolutely no management at all. I called to make a reservation for the live music weeks before the day and I could not even be seated. These poor waitresses were running around trying to handle everything while being treated terribly. What was stocking was seeing a grown man get in a young employees face and scream at her. Watching employees treated like that is completely unacceptable. I would not recommend this place based on my experience. Website: 4/5 I couldn't get the menu unless I clicked the "Order" button, which can be misleading if you simply want to view the menu not make an order. Very few of the menu items have images accompanying them. I am grateful that the menu offers "pizza" as its own category, which fits the theme of the pizzeria. Brand: 4/5 It retains the sign "Tony's Ristorante" despite being called "Tony's Pizzeria." Anyone outside of Farmingdale would find it misleading. I personally do not have a problem with such a common type of restaurant name, but the brand itself does not extend further enough to capture anyone's attention. Plenty of canvas paintings hung throughout the walls of the inner restaurant. Indeed, the tables and the carpet definitely reflect the Italian aesthetics, while the parlor section of the establishment has a sense of welcoming. Ambiance: 5/5 You have plenty of opportunities to seat yourself depending on the mood you are in. If you look for a quick meal, the booths are available in the parlor section; while the fancier interior provides space for a celebration; and the outdoor tables have the umbrellas available if you look for quietude. A television does play as you place or await your order, and it does not intrude upon you throughout the establishment. It does have the capacity to get noisy during the afternoon rush, which is to be expected, but you do have the option to eat outside. Service: 5/5 The staff managed to get our orders right, offering their pizza slice deal first and foremost. Wait Time: 5/5 There were no interruptions for the wait time. Food: 3/5 I ordered the California Burger which has brioche buns, angus beef, and mayonnaise accompanied with tomatoes, lettuce, onions; with fries, coleslaw, and an Orangeade. I did not expect the meat to be medium rare. The buns did hold their forms but only slightly. The mayonnaise had a more profound scent than the rest of the meal, which did become cumbersome. The burger meat did have a watery taste, while the mayonnaise had a more robust taste. The aftertaste did have the savory meat taste. Worth The Money?: 4/5 As an Italian pizzeria, the website provides a large selection of menu items. The establishment definitely has room enough for such diversity of food. A vibrant brand does not need a line of bobbleheads or plushies to sell itself, but it would still need to find some way to stay relevant. Right now it continues to do so with unique pizza dishes, however I would predict that changes would occur. It already has a unique identity by offering modern pizza and the original pizza as made by Italian immigrants called Grandma Pie. As mentioned in the Brand section, I would like to see that interplay between the past and the present play out in the future in more unique ways. Perhaps offer to include Italian words to learn like "ristorante" within the menu, along with the images of those menu items. I can say that the ambiance outweighed the food in terms of presentation, since there are plenty of places to sit. I would say that, ultimately, the price would be worth it for those willing to pay. The California Burger did have a large price. Rating: 4/5 Stars Tony's Pizzeria is okay to go to, and it does offer a sense of pizza identity to Farmingdale. This was our 2nd time here. The first time was nice, and we enjoyed the food and service. We are looking for a "go to" place that wasn't too far away and we were hoping this might be the one even though it is a distance from us. So, our dinners were good, and the waitress was very very nice. But my wife asked for a little extra sauce which they supplied in a small container. When I received the bill, I was shocked to see that they charged us eight bucks for that wee bit of sauce. You can see the item on our bill listed as 8 OZ. Now, I've never in my entire life been charged for a little extra sauce. Never. So, I get it. They are cheap and charged us. In fact, they should have said to us flat out that it would be an extra charge. Whatever. However, the container is a four-ounce container. It even said it on the bottom. I was charged for eight ounces. I complained and management would not remove the charge. So, I finally demanded the remaining four ounces be given to us. After waiting several minutes, it became obvious that they had no intention of rushing to make things at least somewhat fair. We left, never to return again. It's one thing to have a problem with the food. Maybe a wrong order once in a while. But to flat out lie and cheat a customer is nothing short of insulting. And I'm not cheap. The prices here are generally higher than other places but I don't care as long as it's a good meal with good service. And I usually tip REALLY well. But to be so petty as to lie??? I obviously cannot trust a liar. And I cannot endorse a restaurant that cheats its customers and then doubles down on the lie. read more

Tony's is a nice local Italian restaurant specializing in pizza although you can get a lot of different Italian food there. Their pizza is very good. I'd call it traditional pizza as opposed to thin crust or "gourmet" pizzas. Last night we decided on ordering take out and pizza wasn't on the agenda. We got an antipasto to split and I got a large meatball Parmesan sub. The antipasto was good but I think they should have included some dressing with it on the side, like balsamic. The meatball sub was very good and would certainly order it again. Tony's told us that the order would take 45 minutes to be delivered but it took a half hour longer. Being a Saturday night I suppose that's to be expected. I will not hesitate to return and have done so for years. read more

I avoid the lunch crowd by calling in my order- usually the daily soup and a slice of pizza- the pepperoni was really good and a pretty big slice- but the hamburger pie was out of this world- the salads are huge I get the small because the large is really large, I made that mistake once and shared it with a co-worker. The do not skimp on portions either- regardless if you eat in or take out- when I got mine to go that antipasto salad is really loaded and I love the balsamic dressing. They have pie specials as well, so picking a couple up for dinner was great since I passed the restaurant on my way home- again call ahead they do a brisk business on that dinner special. They have the pizza counter and then they have a large restaurant section - Its usually filled with people- I wouldn't say to capacity where you cant eat in if you decide too- but they do a solid business and the food is filling, you won't go home hungry. read more

Tony's is always on point. We've lived nearby for 17 years, and they have yet to disappoint. Great staff in the dining room as well as at the counter. They offer a great-looking variety of pies by the slice, though I tend to keep it simple when I pop in for slices. Is it unusual for a pizzeria to have a great burger? Good food, on time when they say they'll have your food ready, and it is. Friendly wait staff, and the delivery boys are very nice, polite, and they always say thank you when I tell them that I have their tip included on the bill, the amount over the total is theirs. Is there any way to give half a star. Over the past few years I've seen this place go down the tubes. Lately it seems the quality of the ingredients is lower, the large pie doesn't look large at all and the counter help could really take some lessons in manners. I rarely hear "Thank you" from any of them and they act like they are doing you a favor waiting on you. Especially the older woman with black hair, she is a rude as they come. One time I saw her reach her finger to the back corner of her mouth to get a piece of food that was stuck right at the cash register. So gross - I was barely able to eat my slices!!!! This week was the worst meal ever from Tony's - the tomato sauce is maybe one step above Franco-American and pasta was awful. Tell me - how can you not even get spaghetti and meatballs right??? I will tell you how - the owners are nowhere to be found now that they have the liquor store across the street and they leave it to the "hired help" to keep the customers happy. This "hired help" who take no pride in the food or have any intimate relationship with what Italian cuisine is and bingo - you got it! Tony's - The Chef Boyardee of Farmingdale. Another thing, when you order a take-out dinner - they give you this container with what they call a salad in it - mine had brown lettuce, an abundance of red onions that made even the olive taste like a red onion (nice touch!) and to boot they don't even ask or give you salad dressing with your salad. I guess they think - it's such a good salad - it doesn't need dressing. It is time for the owners to take ownership of their business.
