Ordered a simple Greek Salad with grilled chicken for dinner one night. For $13.50, I expected a hearty salad. The Greek Salad portion was good - no complaints. Good dinner salad size and dressing was delicious. My complaint is with the grilled chicken. It was clearly microwaved because it was rubbery and very dry with no flavor at all. Again, for $13.50 I was expecting a freshly grilled chicken breast that had some seasoning on it at least. I'd order the salad again, but not the chicken. read more

Was in the area and craving a bagel with cream cheese and have always noticed they had bagels in the front. The menu board said the bagel was $0.99 but my total ended up being $2.79 so I thought, "This better be an awesome bagel with cream cheese!" When I got home and opened the box, I was shocked to see I paid $1.79 for a cream cheese packet! I had a huge, flavorful bagel with only one cream cheese packet for almost $3. The bagel was ruined since I didn't even have enough cream cheese to spread. I should have just gone to Einsteins to pay half as much for the same bagel and a ton more cream cheese. Lately I have been at Toojay many times the one on East colonial. And every time my guests and me have been very please with the food and the service. Big difference between the few years ago back were it wasn't as good as now July ,10/2017. Will be returned again. read more

I had a hankering for a corned beef on rye sandwich. Being near TooJays, I decided to stop in for lunch and satisfy that craving. The host greeted me and proceeded to place me at a table with the only waiter working the restaurant. Three waitresses working, and the single guy is stuck with a waiter. If I wanted male bonding, I'll just go sit a bar. There is always that one guy looking to be someone's drinking buddy just so he can go on about his ex-wife. Which I really don't want to hear about. Especially if I am trying to eat. Anyway, I ordered the corned beef sandwich on rye. Sandwiches come with a side of cole slaw and a pickle. I was able to substitute potato salad instead. The sandwich platter costs $9.79. It is extra for a side of french fries or cheese to go along with your sandwich. You have your choice of artisan breads, but I went with the rye bread. To me, any other bread just doesn't cut it. Rye bread with corned beef is it. And the corned beef was stacked high too! I have had bigger sandwiches at other delis, but this sandwich was satisfying. The meat was sliced hot, and the rye bread was fresh. With a fountain drink ($2.49), my total was $13.08. My waiter asked if I would like a refill of my drink or dessert, which I declined since I was in a hurry. But the next time I come in to TooJays, I may have to try a dessert. And if you have not been here, the desserts are showcased at the counter upon entry along with other deli offerings. And the desserts look really tempting! Any time I have been to a TooJays, the food has been great, the service is always prompt, and the dining area is always clean. Breakfast and dinner is served as well. But when I visit the nest time, I will most likely go with the corned beef. But the Reuben sandwich looks like it's worth a try! read more

The place is a Bakery/Diner type of place. The food is OK. I think a lot of people go here for the baked goods versus the diner fare.

Toojays is a great consistent restaurant. Been going here for 20 years. Great Service and good food selection. Prices are fair. I love that I can also order ahead and get take out. Their bakery is great, love the Banana dream! I prefer toojays for breakfast than for dinner. read more

Food is a bit pricey, but still delicious. When it gets busy in here they don't really have a "next in line" system. Does not matter if you've been waiting patiently for the past fifteen minutes, if customers walk in straight up to the counter they will take the next person they see. I really love this place. The bakery is unbelievable - I'm totally addicted to the chocolate covered macaroons - they are so moist and delicious. Their Matzoh ball soup is one of the best I've ever had. They also have great sandwiches and wraps - I particularly like the buffalo chicken wrap. The portions are pretty big, and everything is so fresh. Their breakfast is pretty amazing too - you get a lot of food for the money. Great place to eat. I ordered pea soup and an order of potato pancakes. Soup was very flavorful. The potato pancakes with sour cream were deilsh. Crunchy on outside and moist on inside. Friend ordered the matzo ball soup. it looked sooooooo good. He loved it. I wish I had a do-over on the soup. Next time, I get the Matzoball soup. They also sell cakes. We took two pieces to go. One a Mounds (as in mounds candy bar) cake and one a banana cream pudding cake. Plenty big slices. Both were to die for. There are more than one location. Always going to get a good meal when you goto TooJays. It's really not JUST for lunch as they have good meals all day long. Actually the closest thing down here to a NY Diner type. I LOVE their hot dogs, which I consider some of the best around. The cup of Matzo Ball is better than a whole bottle of Airborne (and prob. more effective) ANd the pastrami is just awesome! Sometimes the slice can be a little stringy and fatty, but just make sure to speak up and they will make you another one. My mom and I came to toojays because I've been going though something lately and we always enjoy their food. I had mentioned to my waitress, Jasmine, what was going on and she had nothing but kind words to share with me. She was a wonderful waitress and she deserves the world! I had one their best sellers ( Beef Brisket dip) which was recommended by our waiter, and well, it was not tasty at all, the Brisket itself was very dry and bland (thank god for the onion soup dip), just overall i did not have a good impression of this place, this is not to say i won't be back here, i probably will and try something else and report back. I love Toojay's for many reasons, but for the purpose of this review I will say that if you like desserts, you need to visit. They have an excellent assortment of cakes (available by the slice as well as whole), cookies, brownies, etc. My favorite cake is the chocolate cheesecake. Moist chocolate cake with a layer of cheesecake between and frosted with a thick fudgy chocolate. So good! read more

Very tasty, however next time I would order something else. I got the chicken Ceasar pita expecting chicken, lettuce, bacon, and parmesan cheese (like Pita Pit). Sandwiches were great. I had a Ruben and ordered hot dogs for my twins. My only problem was the service, the server was zipping through the tables but it still took awhile to get service and the correct order. I'm hoping it was just am off day. The 1 lb sandwich, end of story. This is the largest sandwich I've ever seen. Because there is so sandwich meat they only serve it on a special type of rye bread, baked specifically to hold that much meat. I'm not a particular fan of rye bread but since we usually go with pastrami or corned beef so the bread suits the sandwich. This sandwich has fed two people, been boxed and lasted for another 2 meals afterward. It is a delicious monstrosity. We do order other food and since the menu is so extensive it's hard not to find something that you would enjoy. However, nothing that we've had in the past really "stood" out to us as much as the giant sandwich. read more

Hungry hoards of Octogenarians aside I love coming here. Has the best deli style sandwiches I've had in Orlando so far. Pastrami is very close to the real deal. My only complaint about them is they are a bit small. They have the 1 1/2 pound jaynourmos but I'm not always up to that task. The matzo ball soup is also great. But for calling themselves a deli they should really have better pickles! Most of the other things in their menu are just bleh. Stick to what they are known for and it's a 4 star place, otherwise don't even bother. read more

Had the worst meal and sub-par service I ever experienced at this restaurant. I have had several good experiences in the past...but last night's bad experience erased all of the prior good memories. Dinner 11/3/14 approx 6:45pm Ordered turkey burger. It tasted like someone spilled a bag of salt into the bowl and then formed it into a turkey patty. All you could taste was salt. Did not even taste the meat. My mouth actually hurt after I ate it. Service: below average. There were only about 3 servers handling the entire restaurant...so I blame this partially on the managers who staff the place. My friend and I had two simple requests during our meal: (1) a slice of Bread, and (2) yellow mustard. Waitress could not handle timely. We had to ask bus boy to get for us. Of course the waitress picked up speed and didn't hesitate to give us the check. She became speedy then. Not sure when or if I will try this place again after it literally left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Ordered the latkas, described on menu as potato pancakes with bacon, cheese, tomato, and green onion, like a nacho supreme, but with potato pancakes. There was even a picture of the dish featured in the menu. Sounded wonderful, however that's not what I was served. What I actually got was hard, deep-fried shredded potatoes with the toppings, Not a proper pancake on the plate, and nothing but hard fried potatoes. Looked more like bird's nest pasta. The server was slow to return to check on our food, so I started in, hoping I could find pancakes under the surface, but to no avail; no more that 1 or 2 tablespoons of edible potatos on a fairly large serving. Sure, I should have sent it back, but didn't, presuming this was how they meant it to be prepared. Possibly a problem only with that location, cook and kitchen manager, however, server should have recognized the difference and not have brought it out, so problem likely extends to location manager. My Husband and I stopped in for lunch this afternoon, I have been there many time but this was the first time since moving back to Orlando. The service was OK, but the food was very bland and then I was horrified to hear my Husband tell me the woman we saw with a little white dog outside the restaurant actually brought her dog in and was welcomed by the hostess and waitress like the two had been there many times. Growing up I had horrible asthma and some moron with the nerve to bring and animal in while I sat there unaware eating would have sent me to the emergency room. We still can't believe she had the nerve and they allowed it. Shame on all of you, I hope to God no one gets sick and as my Husband said, it that is what happens in the front of the place, imagine what goes on in the kitchen. We will not be back. UPDATE!!! My post was mysteriously deleted...Hmmm..... So I'm reposting.. Hubby got a call from Toojays, someone claiming to be the manager said they were told it was a service dog, (grungy little white thing?? ok) but it had no blue vest or otherwise identified as a service dog. And they tried to tell my Husband it was on the floor the whole time. NOT true, it was on the chair, by the food and other customers, almost like she was hiding it. Why hide a service dog?? I'll keep posting, they can keep deleting. Why delete it? People deserve to know the truth. read more
