What a great meal! This is one of my comfort food favorite local chains. They have many options that should please just about anyone. Some of my favorites are their deli meats (which I stay away from now, but their pastrami and corned beef were good), their salads (i.e. chicken, egg, shrimp) and their deli "Trios" where you pick 3 and get a slew of items to go along with it. I used to get an everything bagel as my bread, but now have been getting their rye. That's just a carb management thing as I'd totally rather have their bagel. I miss the 80's when carbs were great! Mrs. S goes here specifically for their matzo ball soup which she just loves. We also enjoy their potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce (I know, but it's good). They have killer stuffed cabbage too. I can't say I recall getting anything here I didn't like. And don't forget the desserts! Cookies, Cakes, Cheesecakes, and many other sweet things for you to probably take home as we usually get way too stuffed on the other items. read more

Ever since our local TooJay's in Waterford Lakes closed, I've been jonesing for some matzo ball soup. We finally decided to go visit the next closest location on Colonial near the mall. It looked like it might have been closed with the sign lights out, but luckily they were indeed open and we could enjoy my favorites I've been missing. Everything at this location was the same quality and just what I was used to at their other location so they definitely have their stores delivering consistent products which is nice. The service was good and I left wondering why I've waited so long to leave the area to go get my dang matzo ball soup. I even took some home for later. ;) read more

We really enjoyed our lunch here. We split a chopped salad and my husband had a bowl of beef cabbage soup. It was all so delicious. Our server was so efficient and nice. The place is updated and has a nice, warm ambiance. Wish we weren't limited on our diet, or we would have definitely ordered dessert. That's what greets you when you walk in the door. I ordered Uber Eats this evening and won't order from or visit TooJay's again. While I thought the flavor of my soup (both chicken noodle and matzo ball) was good, the chicken noodle soup had absolutely no chicken in it. I also ordered mini half moons, and the icing was largely melted off and had a gross consistency. I appreciated that the soup containers were wrapped in plastic, but they had still leaked everywhere. Restaurant manager is really weak. He doesn't possess any self confidence, body language and voice show is weakness. Bad restaurant training. Manager could not even pronounce the town of another location. if you are going to refer people to another location they should check with that location to make sure it can handle the customer request; all managers should know how to pronounce all cities or towns where there are other locations of the restaurant. even the most basic retail store will do this. it was a teedible experience-especially because I used to eat at that and the Altamonte location with some frequency. This is a follow up to a previous review. We decided to try TooJay's Colonialtown again to see if it had improved since our last visit. Sadly, it has not. The service was very slow and our "hot" Rachel sandwiches were cold to the touch. Also it still looks like they haven't dusted the windowsills in a year or two. There was a ball of gray dust on the table. This used to be one of our favorite go-to restaurants. We are sorry to see it go down hill like this but we won't be recommending it to anyone. read more

Thanksgiving Edition Not impressed with the ham, bland and flavorless. Bought a few pounds of ham for a potluck lunch and it disappointed. People stated it tasted processed. The black and white cookies are always melted. The chocolate coating is supposed to be frosted but they never are. Quality has gone down over the years and prices gave gone up. The Toojays downtown is substandard and food dangerously old or spoiled. On one visit, the chopped liver was discolored and was tasteless. On a recent visit the chicken noodle soup was brownish in color and tasted sour. The waitress said she would bring me soup from a "new" batch...this bowl was clearer and a golden color and was excellent....why did they even serve a leftover batch? My husband's dish, also was inedible. We had ordered stuffed cabbage which at other Toojays was tasty and fragrant. The cabbage was sour and meat had a awful taste. The dish again was not fresh and tasted spoiled. We ordered pastrami which was tough and undercooked and the cornbeef tasted like cheap cold cuts. We paid and left the restaurant without finishing the meal. My stomach was upset for two days. I have been a customer of Toojays since it opened but will not comeback again as in to the Colonial location. read more

Toojays is a reliable, tasty location for a lunch with friends. Their Reuben sandwich is one of the best- ever. I recommend averting your head away from the pastry case if you are trying to regain from that kind of goodness. If you fail to head my advice, I won't be responsible for you indulgences. Buy one slice of YUMMY CAKE to eat there, take a few more home, and grab some rugalach or cinnamon roll for the morning. I will say, once you experience their food, you'll be back! read more

Always love coming here. The food is great. Service is okay, but they were pretty busy when we were there. Parking is easy with a huge lot in the plaza. I order the same thing every time, which is the Dill Chicken Salad on Rye bread. It's sooooo good. Being that my family is Polish, I don't eat any other bread besides rye. So we also had to order the potato pancakes, of course! They were delicious. My Mom order the dill chicken salad in a tomato. Everyone left happy - we definitely will be back! read more

Well, Jay T from TooJays replied and, I did exactly as he suggested- only to reach a voice mail for some woman that doesn't respond...just like the staff on location! Fact is, I spent nearly 68 dollars for a hot meal after cleaning up storm debris all day. That 68 bucks worth of food was ready when I arrived; I couldnt get an employee to give it to me from the cold counter it was sitting on when I arrived. After another 20 minutes of waiting and watching literal mannequins employed at TooJays ignore that fact. Another fact? Time for the Health Dept to get a call about this place. We used to go to the Colonialtown Too Jay's often, However in the last year the service and food have taken a down turn. They have too few service people for the number of guests and it looks like the service people are also doing double duty on some kitchen tasks. The sandwiches have gotten smaller and presentation is sloppy. The waiters/waitresses do the best they can to scramble and help everyone. Our last visit it took 45 minutes to get our food so we asked for take out boxes and left. Another couple who was there when we came in finally got up and left. Their food came just as they were leaving and the waiter was rude to them. It looks like they haven't dusted in years. We really miss having Too Jay's as an easy, quality, near by restaurant. If you want to think of a traditional Kosher Deli, then TooJay's is a place to go. Visiting it might be like going to the past and trying something we use to get especially if you were from New York City. TooJay's here was good, and that is what it is all about. We started with chicken soup and matzohs. This was really great to have today. That was followed with kniche as something to have. This was warm and moist. It was filled. We then had our sandwiches and went very traditional. We had a combo of Pastrami with Corned Beef on Rye Bread. Add a little mustard and you have it. We also had a Ruben Sandwich which is pastrami with cheese and sauerkraut and topped with Russian dressing. Excellent. Severed with coleslaw and pickles. It is the perfect choice. Also order a Dr. Brown Cream Soda and have the meal you remember. We did it in New York and we can do it here. We ate so much we had to carry the dessert home to have later. This is a good place with a great cook and excellent service. They know what to do and take care of you. As for the prices it is perfect for the size of a meal you have. Toojays is normally spot on, as my wife and I go to often. Today I had the melt, medium well done, and it wasn't fit to be served. The bread was very thick, and no slice was matched, or of the same size. (it looked like the end slice was matched with a center piece) There was more cheese on the plate, then the sandwich. Not only did the bread NOT cover the meat, but the meat over extended. Nothing was centered. What even made it worse, the manager delivered it to my table. I did ask her what was wrong with the sandwich, and all she noticed was the cheese was melted on the plate. I fault her as well as the kitchen. It showed DISRESPECT FOR THE FOOD ! ! ! read more

First time at this location of Toojay's but not my first time eating at this establishment. We walked in was greeted immediately walking by All the amazing cakes they have craving them all. We were seated pretty quick and was approached by our server we told him what we wanted to drink and eat right away as we were pretty hungry from shopping for Christmas gifts, me and the wife ordered the Reuben sandwich witch comes with the sandwich and coleslaw French fries and a pickle. The server took a while to bring us our drinks and then we waited not to long before our food arrived. The fries were not too bad, the coleslaw had not much of a taste to it not the best coleslaw I have had and the pickle was ok, as far as the sandwich I feel like it could of been a bit warmer as if it had sat there for a bit and the corned beef tasted cold and cheese was not even melted over the meat. Overall, not my best experience at TooJays compared to the other location I have been too. I have eat many Reuben sandwiches before and this one was probably not the greatest. I wish I could leave zero stars. They put PLASTIC WRAP in my lasagna and served it to me. Realized it was in there after my third bite. And to compensate for it, they took $6 off of my ticket. A JOKE. Also, we had two vegans with us there and they made the wraps with cheese, so we sent them back. When they came back, one of them had little pieces of bacon in there that probably came off of somebody's gloves. This place is NOT SAFE. DO NOT EAT HERE unless of course you're trying to eat some of that hot plastic wrap. Nothing was done to compensate for their DANGEROUS mistakes. This place needs to be shut down immediately. They didn't even try to make it right with us. ***UPDATE*** I emailed them like they asked me to here and still no response. In my regular rotation as a lunch place, love to get my latkes on here! Sometimes I just need to feel the comfort food vibes of TooJay's. A few years back I didn't love this place as much, but what galvanized my opinion is this-sometimes southern food is just too much, a lot of fried flavor and butter on everything. TooJay's is different, it has the Jewish deli flavor that is totally a departure from southern food, but it's novel to find in Central Florida. My go-to's (more than one) are the Rachel sandwich, the triple J sandwich, deli shrimp salad, loaded latkes, matzo ball soup, and some coleslaw and pickle on the side. The deli shrimp salad is bathed in a light mayo dressing and it's so refreshing in the summer. The Rachel sandwich and a nice bowl of matzo ball are perfect when you're feeling under the weather. Enjoy it all with a Dr. brown's cel-ray celery soda. Order a can of it to drink with your sandwich, it really compliments the flavors. On the way out order a slice of cheesecake, banana dream, or some black & white cookies to go. Service is pretty quick, and the seating line can be slow, but worth the wait. read more

My review is based on the Orlando location by Dr. Phillips. Always good food and service. I love their desserts and cold cuts in the front. My favorite is the corn beef hash for breakfast that's our go to breakfast meal when we go there. I also recommend their matzo ball soup and the stuffed cabbage, potatoe latke and blintzes. The servers were amazing considering there were only for the whole place. This a restaurant i have been to at least a dozen times and have never seen it so short staffed. I also don't know what is going on in the kitchen. The food was bland. Typically I like toojays and have been to other locations. I will have to try another site to see if this is an aberration or a new trend in the chain. Either way if you are trying to go out of business just keep it up. read more

Usually this place is great. We just got a delivery from there and they are seriously starting to slack. The roast beef wrap was dry, no mayo or anything. The coleslaw was less than one bite. I kid you not. The tartar sauce came in the same size container and was full but the coleslaw was only half full. No joke, one single bite of coleslaw for a meal. Who does that? read more

We regularly get TooJays takeout at least once a month. The past few times, when we ordered 1 pound of lean corned beef, a full 1/4 pound of it was fat. They did not trim it. So when my husband told the carver to please make it lean (cut off the fat) he said "That's the way the corned beef comes.". So, I cut off all the fat and weighed it. The way I figure, TooJays owes me at least 1/4 pound of corned beef refund for this past week and for the past few times we ordered. Corned beef is very expensive and I can no longer pay for fat. The fact that the person cutting the meat said it came that way, probably means that is how sandwiches are made too. How disappointing. I do have pictures, however, I do not know how to post them. Food is always fresh and well prepared/cooked. Some of the best salmon and scrambled eggs w/ potato pancakes around. Servers like Shane and Taylor are always friendly and on the ball. Went to Toojays at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023. My husband TRIED to order a salad - waitress said we are out of salad! Then I tried to order a corned beef "special" with Russian dressing AND COLE SLAW. The waitress said out of COLE SLAW! We were going to take home some chopped liver, but it was pale in color and looked like it had been in the case a while. The couple we were with commented on the way out that the divider between booths had a half-inch of dust. Decided to stop here with my family to pick up dinner to-go...spent $80 on food to take home and when we got it home it was just okay. This was my husbands burger, it was supposed to be on a bun but it was on soggy ripped bread. Not too good for a $12 burger.
