Same issue with a lot of other reviews. The lady in the front is horrible. Rude, dishonest, and crazy. She's told me before I can call to make appts. I've made appts my last 4-5 visits. I made one today. I walk in for my appt and I notice a new customer sits down with Michael (barber that I made an appt with). She knew I had the appt and asked me if I wanted another barber. I said no. On her own, she asked that customer to go to another barber. Then proceeded to tell me I need to read the sign, they do not take appts! Lol I told her I just made one with you on the phone and I've made appts my last 4-5 times. I was very confused and let it go but she kept yelling as I sat down with Michael. Michael apologized on her behalf. I feel bad for the barbers because they are nice but they lost me as a customer because of the rude lady named Nina. Chào tạm biệt. Top Barber is THE place to get a men's haircut. They'll get you cleaned up and looking great. They also use warm shaving cream and a straight razor to finish up the job. This morning, I was waiting for my turn for Philip to cut my hair when the owner suddenly put someone who came after me in front of me. At that point, I had already waited for 2 guys in front of me. It would have been fine if he was at least polite. But he has a very bad manner. Told me to leave if I did not like his attitude. This is not the way to do business. I have been getting my haircut and beard trims here for years...Ken & Anthony usually cut my hair and beard trims both are outstanding barbers and iam sure the rest of the staff are exceptional to! Very reasonable prices, can get crowded at times but they have enough barbers to keep the wait time acceptable, Don't have much hair so I usually get a clipper cut and there is not much that you can to do mess that up, but everyone I have had takes time to make sure it is right and that you are happy with it, no rushing to get you out the door and the next person in their chair. I've also had the razor shave and again the barber took his time and made sure everything was right. Prices are good, service is excellent. read more

Had an amazing first time here. My friend said he has been going here and driving past multiple barber shops TO GO here. Most inexpensive barber shop in town but gives the best haircuts and service. Hard to believe but that is the deal here Anthony gave me an amazing cut and recommended a haircut that made better sense than what I had thought and it looked best in the end! They have a couple tvs and a nice big open space and in a prime location in old town torrance and with easy parking just around the corner and all around. It's hard to say I won't be back after going to the same barber shop for many many years but this is the best place. Arrived, and they placed me with this older guy, didn't even greet me, I told him the type of cut I wanted and it seemed like he completely ignored what I said, he was rushing through the cut and he even cut me several times with the blade because of how hard and fast he was going. The cut was over and as I get in my car I notice he didn't even line me up, so I go back in, (he's packing his stuff) and he grabs a machine and shaves the hair but doesn't line me up correctly with the blade like he's supposed to. I was so angry that I literally walked out, I examine the cut, he messed up the line up, cut me all over my neck. Never ever going there again. read more

Went here after seeing all the positive reviews on yelp but didn't notice til after my cut that a lot of the reviews were from a long long time ago. I guess it depends on which barber you get but the one I got was absolutely terrible and had no idea what he was doing. I asked him for a fade and taper on the sides and back and even tho he nodded his head and said yes, he must've had no idea what that meant because he took his razors and went straight up buzzing off all my hair. What infuriates me the most is that he literally had no idea what I was asking him for and instead of asking any of the other barbers or asking me to clarify, he just went ahead and proceeded to cut as he pleased. Why bother asking the customer what they want if you're just gna proceed however way u know how and completely ignore the requests. On top of this, he left a bunch of loose strands and cut my hair uneven all over. TLDR, maybe it was just my luck of the draw with the barber but this is the worst hair cut I have ever received. The customer service from the owner I'm assuming was great, but if you're looking for a place to get a haircut and not somewhere to go and chat look elsewhere and avoid this place. read more

I have been coming here for several years and it is definitely time for me to put in my two cents. I grew up in Massachusetts and I love a nice, traditional barber shop. This place has beautiful old vintage chairs and even some old school barber poles. A barber shop used to be a place for men to gather and swap stories and complain about the "changing" times and whatever else it is that some rough and tumble guys want to discuss. This place is kinda that place. Top Barber is owned by a wonderful and hard working couple who have seen fit to hire a great group of guys and gals to provide a very nice haircut for a very reasonable price. The price is very competitive and each time I go, regardless of who cuts my hair, I always leave contented. They even touch up the edges with a straight razor. Beautiful touch that I rarely, if ever, have received anywhere else. Nothing leaves a nice clean look like a straight razor. The establishment is very clean and I have had numerous friendly conversations with all of the employees. They all work hard and no one is resting on his or her laurels when you walk in. There aren't any appointments for men (there is a female hairstylist on site and she did a great job on my daughters' hair), but women can and should call ahead to make an appointment. I can't say enough about this place. I feel so happy to have a barber shop so close that brings me so much nostalgic happiness from my youth. If you're in the area and are feeling a little shaggy you should definitely stop in and get your ears lowered. It's a cash only business but there is a bank right across the street. Make sure to tip your barber well. They will have earned it. read more

To be honest the person who cut my hair does not even deserve a full star. The asian barber that served and cut my hair was very rude and weird with my own haircut. He didn't want to serve the haircut that i had specifically asked for from the first time i walked in, even before i sat down. I gave him exact pictures of my hair before and it wasn't even close to what i had asked for. asked him to give me the shape that i wanted or the pictures that i provided but didn't even look identical to what i wanted. He was trying to tell me what i should do to my hair and he even said... "that is too low of a fade"... "too short of a haircut". He insisted that he'll make me look good EVEN THOUGH it wasn't even CLOSE TO BEING GOOD AT ALL LOL. Not sure of what his name was, but all i know was that he was very rude and wasn't even cooperating with my decision on my own hair. They shouldn't even question a customers haircut if that's what the customer wants smh.... he even had the nerve to tell me that I didn't tell him to give me what i asked which was a "drop MID fade".... with a 5 on top".... and to also "shape my haircut as to what i provided in the photo. See how in the last sentence i stated MID in all caps because he decided to make my fade all the way to the top not even CLOSE to the middle was NOT even CLOSE to a fade at alllll. He then stated that "My friends will like my haircut and people will love my haircut" which even MYSELF doesn't even enjoy smh. He then started awkwardly looking at me in the mirror when he noticed in the middle of the haircut that i didn't even want the cut that he was giving me. he then insisted to cut it unevenly and not take his time and ruin my haircut. This haircut took at least 15 minutes max and wasn't even trying to make it look good. I also asked for him to try to make my haircut look good by politely saying "Can you do a line even though at this stage i didn't want him to ruin my head even more, he then responded with a.... "No it looks fine natural.. you don't need one"... STILL trying to tell the customer what they shouldn't do with MY OWN HAIR! I don't know what he was on about this day he was very disrespectful and telling me that i didn't even give him or TELL him before hand to make it a MID which means MIDDLE fade! Please do yourselves a favor and do not go please do not try to get yourself into a mess and waste 15$ PLUS a tip if you even want to give that man a tip. He has ruined my mood and my day i did not want to come out as mean in any shape or form i will not tolerate any types of weird comments by this man i honestly don't know how he got a job in cutting hair lol. Please do not and i truly mean it do not go to the middle aged asian man i think bald or little hair that has a (American flag) mask when i went. He's stationed to the right side of the pay station and in the second chair near the middle. Been going here for over 6 months now and I still find it difficult to understand most of the barbers here BUT they are soooo good with hair! They're very nice and I never left unsatisfied with my haircut. The only time I'd complain is that they were so packed I waited an hour for a haircut! But that didn't matter so much because the people were nice and talked to me and they also have big TVs that you can watch. To my surprise he is happy with his haircut and the way John cut his hair without cutting his ear, he says. For a $12 basic haircut, you would be hard pressed to find a better place. I have been here 3 times now, with my Son. Each time we have had different barbers then the time before, and all have provided suitable results. The place is friendly and clean, although it is a barbershop. If you feel like splurging, or you have let you shaving routine lapse, get the straight razor shave too! Only licensed barbers are allowed to do this (or so I have been told). It is well worth the expense, and is quite relaxing. A four star rating because "I'm a Fan", but a 92% is more accurate. Not "As good as it gets", but still pretty damn good. read more

Asked for a medium regulation or mid fade. I got a horrible high fade with a weird, off balanced scissor cut in the front. If you do not know how to do a particular style, just say so. This barber has a very solid and competent staff that understand how to achieve a satisfying haircut. What you need to know: Free parking is everywhere, pick the streets or the parking lot. Its a very close walk. Respect any broken English. They aim to please. There is a free water dispenser in case you get thirsty. A lot of precision was put in to the clean cut on the back of the neck. I respect that. For men, one of the best cuts you can receive for under $20. Of course I'm use to $9 haircuts but these guys make it worth the extra few dollars. My 17 year-old son has always had me cut his hair. I have been trying to get him to go to a barber for years and today he FINALLY went. We looked on YELP and read all the reviews. To be honest this wasn't our first choice but some barber shops were closed today. We decided to try Top Barber and we were very happy. We were greeted right away and within seconds of arrival, my son was sitting in a chair showing a picture of the hairstyle he hoped for to Jason. Jason was quick and confident. He asked my son a few questions, which he didn't know how to answer. Thankfully there was a board of samples and all he had to do was point. Teenagers!!! Anyway, I was glad they had examples so it was easy for my son to get exactly what he had in mind. Now my son feels confident to go to the barber by himself. He will ask for Jason again, I am sure. Horrible haircuts they absolutely gave a different haircut from what was asked..never coming here again

I initially came to Top Barber as I was seeking a change in customer service and appreciation as another particular barbershop on 182nd st and prarie was not meeting my expectations, had unprofessional demeanor and exceptionally long wait times. My time is valuable and having to sit and wait for someone else or wait in line was unacceptable to me. This is when I found Top Barber. I was lucky enough to work with a close friend of mine who recommended I visit Anthony the next time I went to Top Barber. I did, and was I impressed. I made an appointment, which is just absolutely game-changing compared to the old barber shop, and the way I was greeted with hospitality and friendliness, I was won over as a customer. Now, the cut. Anthony made sure to pay attention, which now a-days is very expensive, and he delivered, time and time again. I have now been coming to Top Barber for over a year, and was being selfish and hogging Anthony to myself. Tell Anthony that Jonathan referred you.
