I've been holding off on leaving a review and unfortunately it's time to leave an honest review after several visits/ attempts. Today I walked into an empty establishment. I needed a gel mani and pedicure. As the man and woman sit there talking to each other debating on what to say. They asked me to come back at 6p. I'm not available at 6p, hence why I came in. I was advised to make an appointment online. This is where I had a previous issue. I made my appointments online for both a mani pedi. You have to schedule it separately. But the establishment will bump your appointment up or down as they see fit. I had my appointments staggered for a reason and they decided to bump my appointments earlier and at the same time. All this without any kind of communication with the client. They had my phone number. So this was the last time I waste my time and money trying to support this local business. read more

Got my eyebrows waxed by the owner, did a very good job. Got my pedicure done by someone else, they also did a very good job. Both people took good care of me and always asked important questions like is the shape good, if I'd like a 3rd layer of color, etc. The place is clean, pretty organized, and everyone is nice. I went during the day on a weekday, so they weren't that busy. The owner does communicate via text to update and remind you about your appointment. Will definitely be coming back!! I would definitely recommend to book an appointment online or call! read more

I've been coming to Top Coat Nail Bar for a while now and I've seriously never been disappointed. Hai is my go-to and she's amazing--super quick but super detailed, a total perfectionist who really knows what she's doing. Even when I show up with zero idea of what I want, she always helps me pick something I end up loving. I leave every time completely obsessed with my nails. I've also gotten pedicures from Ken and Lisa--both were great, really professional and did such a good job. The whole team is just solid and they all work great together! I've had Gel-X at other places before, but nothing compares to how they do it here. My nails last forever, don't chip, and actually stay healthy underneath. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality nails that actually last. read more

Ugh. Where do I start. This place went downhill FAST. I started getting my nails done there 2 years ago with the most amazing nail tech. I LOVED how different this salon was. It was bright, beautiful AND CLEAN. I could actually have a conversation with my nail tech and explain what I needed or something that needed to be fixed without them acting like I was asking too much. I also loved the fact that it wasn't a normal nail Salon atmosphere where you had an appointment but had to wait 30 min for it and then were basically sent down an assembly line so they could pack as many appointments as they can. I came in at my time and I immediately sat down and my tech never handed me off. In the last 3 months it's on its THIRD NEW OWNER. The biggest thing that kept me was, of course, my nail tech and the fact that all the bottles she used weren't reused containers but brand name products..... Don't bother with this place. Thought I'd finally found a nice place buuuuut, it's not that anymore.... and the bathroom is GROSS AF. Edited since the rude NEW OWNER (not manager) decided to reply in that way. I never booked through their online booking system. I also gave top coat 5 stars until The new owners. If you want to see how you will be treated as a customer look at how they respond to previous customers. ... and yea, and "chop shop" in my eyes will get 1 star when they treat you like crap. Have a nice day, Hahn. EDITED AGAIN! - she changed her response to my review - but this is the initial response she gave me. I can't recommend this place enough. The decor is really cute, all the employees are super nice, and my nails came out just the way I asked. They are super clean and follow protocol. I had a gel pedicure and a gelx manicure. I made my appt over the phone since they don't do online appts anymore thru their website. (They also book thru their IG). The gel pedicure was nice and the final result lasted me a long time. It was my first time getting gelx and I loved it. My nails were long and strong for a good while (until they grew out). I admit I got them a little too long and it took me a minute to get used to the length and would probably not get them that long again. Payment is cash and Venmo only. I've officially found my new nail salon in the valley! I went in with Hanh and she totally blew my expectations. Not only was she fair by not making me pay for a full set when I really only needed a fill, but her work is amazing. See photos of what I wanted vs what I got. So spot on. And to top it off, everyone is super friendly and they book by appointment so you don't feel rushed in and out of there. Great experience! read more

HANH was great! Too bad VALENTINA, the front desk receptionist girl was so SO rude at check out. Ugly tone, literally said "I'm the one that charges here and knows the prices, not Hanh, and yea this is a high end place when she told me the price." Gross. And then she couldn't make the credit card machine (square) work, so she gave me back my card and said it's not working and they don't have cash, like what? Hanh then stepped in since their machine wasn't working and manually input my card number and did the transaction. Like girl, you had one job, lol. Anyway, Hanh was legitimately the nicest and SO talented. She copied a photo I showed her and she made it look even better. I hope Hanh gets better coworkers. Also, prices are quite steep. $22 for nail design, $20 for GelX removal I give Hanh 10 stars but that receptionist left a bitter taste in my mouth. Total for what I got in the photo was $137 + $10 tip. $147 read more

I am so impressed by the level of care, cleanliness, and friendliness provided by Hanh & Ken. Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by them & checked into my manicure & pedicure appointment. I felt so pampered and relaxed. The massage chairs was definitely a nice touch too. Above all, my nails turned out beautiful! The price is reasonable and there's ample parking. I brought my own nail polish, but there is plenty of color selection to choose from. I made an appointment Monday the 18th at 10:05, when the salon had just open for gel x nails with a cat eye design. This appointment was extremely last minute, but I am content they were able to fit me into their schedule. Dalia did me so well! I scheduled a 10am appointment with Hahn. I arrive a few mins before 10am and the establishment is closed. I wait a few mins and nothing. I call and they say they are on their way and will be there at the establishment in 22 minutes. I've already waited, and I get we sent a message and it didn't go through sorry. You can come back when we arrive or just wait. If you have appointment slots then you should adhere by them. If you are running late you make sure that the communication is on point. Unfortunately my experience was not good and I will not be returning. Time is very precious and if you are scheduled to be there then you should. The same thing happened last time I came here. Owner messed up her own schedule I made an appointment for my daughter for a special occasion and I called a week in advance. when I talked to the owner multiple times to confirm that appointment I asked if I can still come and she said YES. Management argued with me via text, citing "camera footage" to claim I wasn't actually uncomfortable. It's a shame that being polite and "smiling" while leaving is being used against me to deny that the service was tense. They offered a small discount for a redo ($15 instead of $25), but at this point, I'd rather go to a salon where the staff is actually friendly and I don't have to argue with management just to be heard. Edit: The owner ignored my private text regarding a technician speaking poorly about me, yet chose to respond publicly instead. This lack of professionalism is exactly why I requested a female technician. Furthermore, at no point was I offered a redo or even a basic apology for the hostile environment. Beware: if the staff is comfortable speaking negatively about clients in the salon, your experience won't be any different. Check the attitude before this business fails. RIP and good luck

(very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. Days passed and I followed up again via phone as I didn't hear back. The owner of the salon requested PHI pertaining to the infection, including what Rx I was on, in order to even consider a refund. Initially, a gift card for the amount spent on the service was offered in lieu of a refund. I mentioned I was not comfortable receiving another service, and received a call back letting me know the owner was willing to grant a refund. Overall, the back and forth took about a week and a half. I was new to the entire gelx process, and am posting this review to let anyone else looking to embark on that journey know they should ask questions and voice their concerns. There are seemingly many happy patrons, but this was my individual experience.

Since I'm new to the area, I turned to trustworthy Yelp to find me a nail salon... I called Top Coat who was number 1 on the search return and they said no problem. They were able to take me in on the same day to get my gel manicure. Boy am I glad that that were about to take me in. Not only was the place CLEAN! I mean really clean... Spotless...uummmm... Not like my room or bathroom at all. Lol It was a great feeling to walk in and be greeted right away... And since I walked there...I was HOT. They sat me down and gave me a glass of cold water....omg I was do thankful. Great start! Then they paired me with Ilza... And she was great! she got the job done right without cutting any corners. My nails look great! I had gel on them as I was on vacation and she took them off and cut my nails and cleaned my cuticles. My hands have not looked that great in a long long time. Her workmanship was close to the lady that I used to go to for 10 years in Vegas and something that I could not find in the valley. Such a cute, clean nail salon in Northrige ! ! ! I feel so lucky to stop by this new nail salon and get my gel mani & pedi done with their shiny brand new machines & polishes. It was so pretty and clean inside which I loved. Their interior was really cute & bright. The pedicure chairs were all so new, modern & stylish to sit on for my pedi treatment. dont forget to use the message feature its perfect for a long day of work. And I LOVE their choices of nice, quality polishes. Their gel polishes were premium quality. they also have vegan polish options. Ilza did my nails with design. I could tell she is very talented she knows what she does. This is my third time here and they always go above and beyond my expectations. Sadly I went to another salon that was closer to my house and they did a terrible job. So I decided to go to Top Coat to get it fixed. Luckily they had an opening since another client cancelled. Anyway, I got my gel pedicure done perfectly. My skin doesn't have polish, my nails look strong and well painted. I'm so happy with this place that I KNOW for sure I'm not getting anything done anywhere else... since it looks like other places doesn't even know what they are doing... I prefer to go to a place that does it properly that get it done wrong somewhere else and pay double. I recommend this place 100 times. Their techs are very knowledgeable and talented. Hands down one of the best places to get your nails done. I have been to many nail salons because I'm trying to find my go to nail place. I think my journey is over because when I walked in they were really busy and still managed to squeeze me in. I had an idea of what i wanted and Ilza came to the front to help me bring it to life. She made the process easy, fun and took charge when I didn't know exactly what i wanted. (which is sometimes what I need when I'm indecisive). before heading out i also noticed the client next to my table and her nails also looked really unique. Anyways I LOVED the results! I had a great experience at Top Coat. I got a pedicure where I didn't feel pressured to get anything outside of what the nail tech offered, she handed me cold water shortly after I sat down and she did an amazing job. It's been a week and my pedi hasn't chipped or peeled. I really appreciated seeing the liners on the pedi chairs. Proof of how clean they are. It helps that this place is brand new since everything looked tip-top. No pun intended. I also got a full set with Brittney who did a great job on my nails while maintaining a great conversation. This is my second time coming to top coat, I usually go to another salon by work on ventura, but I just noticed this location just opened here in northridge very close to my sons school. It's going to be super convenient coming in after school or before school. Everyone here is very friendly and detailed about their work. I love how they have a friendly skilled staff and everything is very clean, the technicians open a clean pack of tools in front of you also everything is disposable. Very happy with my nails!! I went to another salon that destroyed my nails. Luckily, I found this gem on google. Liz fixed my nails very fast, she was very professional and welcoming. I'm definitely coming back. I had to pay a deposit to book. They told me that is a new policy since other customers canceled at the last minute or doesn't show up. I really love this place. First off it's got a beautiful ambiance and it's relaxing- no televisions or loud talking, just soft music and nice people. They offer free have wifi, and were polite from beginning to finish. They have a great selection of colors offered and took their time and did a great quality job. She was so friendly. the salon is extremely clean and modern.
