This was a very important decision as my previous salon's owner was not careful trimming my nail cuticles and there was inflammation and soreness for four days. After viewing Yelp reviews, several cleints recommended San at this nail salon. Victoria, the receptionist, was not familiar with her name, but suggested Hy. On the morning of my appointment at 10am, I received a TEXT at 9:36am that Hy was 'running late' and would not be available until 11:30am! A little late? No other explanation was given. After reading other reviews of Vy Nail in the Encino Commons, this is not the first time a client was kept waiting or their appointment or it was 'pushed back'without any explanation. They commented that their needs to be better communication between the salon and their clients. After reading these reviews, I called Victoria, a day ahead of time, to cancell my appointment and stated the reasons why. If you want to be a good business owner and have repeat customers, please treat them with respect and be up front with your mistakes and the reason why. Running 'a little late' is not an hour and a half after your scheduled appointment! Why is it so difficult to find a reputable, reasonable, couteous, professional and experienced Nail Salon in Encino? I have lived here for 14 years. I stopped in for a simple gel polish removal and was immediately met with a rude response: "Can't you see we're busy? It will be 45 minutes." The tone was dismissive and unprofessional. I completely understand that businesses get busy, but there is a respectful way to communicate that to customers- we are human beings after all. Instead, I walked across the street to another salon, where they were friendly, accommodating, and took care of the gel removal right away for $10. I'm updating my review because I am incredibly frustrated with the service here. I paid $50 (including tip) for a gel manicure that started cracking on multiple nails after only one week. When I went back to get it fixed, Cindy was extremely unprofessional. She was clearly aggravated that I was there, rushing through the repair with a sloppy, 'get-it-over-with' attitude. When I asked to speak to the manager about the situation, they seemed completely unconcerned. The manager said something in Vietnamese to Cindy, but nothing changed, Cindy continued to be rude and did a poor job on the fix. It is disappointing to pay premium prices and tip, only to be treated like an inconvenience when their own product fails. I had my Gel fingernails done two months ago, in this salon, the quality was good and was charged $45. I thought the price was average, so I went back today for the same gel fingernails done. Upon paying when done, the lady (owner) said $65... I told her that last time I paid $45 plus tip.... She then told me the Gel nail I received today was a harder version, that's $20 more... I was appalled , why they didn't tell me before I start, and I had no Idea that they offered two types of gel nails..... ( I didn't see any difference from the material they applied to my nails or the procedure of the treatment) ... The price is not published in a printed sheet, so they can charge whatever they want.... I had a 1:00 appointment and they didn't start till 1:45. The salon was packed as the owner was clearly over booking. Keep in mind I Made an appt. 2 days prior. I took over 3 hours to get a full set and a pedicure. My full set was horrible. The glue stuck to my fingers, I asked for long and she did them way too short and looked horrible they were way too thick and had lumps plus were crooked. Wow! Had a really great experience here. I was able to call day of and get an appointment pretty easily on a weekday. I went in for a regular pedicure and my manicurist did such a good job. The atmosphere of the salon is very calming and clean. I really loved how quiet it was there. they do have a limited selection of colors, but this is probably one of the best pedicures I've had in a long time. They offer a variety of services to upgrade your pedicure and different types of manicures from gel to rubber base. They are located next to Michael's and there's a pretty big parking lot available. Prices were pretty standard. My pedicure was about $30ish dollars. I miss the days when pedicures were $18 but I won't go into that rant. People in the salon were very friendly and professional. I scheduled an appointment to get a set of birthday nails (dip w/ tip and gel paint), a pedicure, and a pedicure for my partner to be done here since Google showed it being the highest rated place in my area. I'm new to the area and this was my first experience getting my nails done here. The vibe was amazing and super relaxing. The staff were very friendly, helpful, kind, and accommodating. However, the product was not all there. Within one day my middle nail was lifting and had to schedule tog eat it fixed. They were super nice and did it free of charge except the nail was not removed and redone, it was painted over with another layer of dip powder and repainted. The nail wasn't reshaped and looked huge and bulbous compared to the others. Within 4 days I had two nails chip and within 5 days the nail they fixed was lifting again. I also had two more lift within that timeframe and as of now (9 days out) I have 5 nails that have completely come off. Also, they had not gone all the way down to the base at the appointment so my nails already looked a bit grown out. I will also say that it costs $8 to buff your nails and $10 to do cuticle removal when it should be part of the service already. Also $20 for gel when at most places it's $10. For all three services the cost was just shy of $240 (before tips). I did check the menu before visiting the shop but the additional costs were still a surprise. I have a lot of nail salon experience and get my nails done frequently and have never had an experience like this. I'm not rough on my hands and my nails usually last 2 1/2-3 weeks regularly. I feel this location did not live up to what I saw online and regret choosing this place. I just wanted some nice nails for my birthday but ended up with the worst set I have ever had. I am disappointed in this experience and will not be coming back. read more

I've been coming to this place for the past 10 months and the customer service was not always sarisfactory but today's experience was so bad that I decided to write this review. I do gel manicure every time and pedicure every other time. Today, I decided to do regular manicure. When I arrived, they assignmed to someone who was clearly not interested in regular manicure. She was not happy the entire time she was doing my nails and was complaining in front me to another employee about the regular manicure, not in English but I could understand it was about me. Then, one of my finger's nail polished got messed up by accident. I told her about it and she did not want to fix it. I had to ask her 4 times to fix it, something I have never seen before, and whn she finally "fixed" it, she made it worse. I told her that the nail did not look good and she said that is what happens with regular nail polish. I told her she made it worse and it did not look good at all. She then sighed and said that was my fault!! I said this needs to be fixed and she finally agreed to fix it but gave me a bad attitude, did not speak and just fixed it. Even when I said thank you, in response she said "yea". Again, I have never seen this type of treatment in any nail shop and this is unacceptable. I had heard about and experienced the low customer service in this place before but today was a different story. I will not come back to this place and don't recoomend it to anyone. read more

Just had a wonderful manicure by Kelly and pedicure by Fabiola. I love that I got to sit in a massage chair. I have chronic pain due to health stuff, And man, that massage chair does wonders! The staff here is friendly and helpful. The space is new and gorgeous! They have a very wide range of hours, which I need since I work two jobs. I will post a picture of the hours. I just walked in today and was accommodated. The manicure by Kelly was especially detailed, and I appreciate it because my cuticles are so gross. I will be back. Hope this place thrives. They gave me a quote over the phone and when I arrived since my design was slightly different they wanted to charge me $55 for the design instead of $25 and my fill went up in price from $65 to $70. Initial quote was $90 then in store they said $110 and 5 min later they said $120-130 as if they were making up the prices all along the way .... The I said I'll do the original design that they quoted and then they said that the girl no longer wants to do my hands.
