I've been coming here for a while now and noticed that every time I come my total is different, yet I always have the same order. The owner is always so rude and such a snobb. I see from other reviews that others feel the same and that this doesn't happen to just me. The pricing is very vague and not clearly shown inside so she's able to just pull out random totals for customers. There was one instance where she overcharged me and I said why so much? And she said oh sorry I accidentally charged you for a donut that I was supposed to give you for free. ????? Why are you adding things I'm not asking for, charging me for them, and then acting like you're giving me a discount when the extra item is NOT FREE. Yes the donuts are good but the service is RIDICULOUS. Ask for the price before purchasing because the lady will definitely add on whatever she feels like adding without your consent. Dear owner, You have people coming back because they're not as aware as others of how much you overcharge. I'm one of those people. I will never come back again because of your horrible attitude. My favorite donut shop, as well as pretty much the favorite of everyone I know in Watsonville. The people that own it are super sweet and the donuts are really good compared to pretty much all I have tried in the area. Orange glazed, strawberry glazed, blueberry donuts... and they will fill them if they don't have any filled. My son was so disappointed that he did not arrive in time to get a filled donut and we mentioned it and they filled it on the spot. My son and his friend who I happen to have taken with me that day both loved the donuts and both picked donuts that the lady behind the counter filled with whipped cream! I would not recommend this place. Went in and ordered 2 dozen donuts and two maple bars. I had 30 bucks with me so I figured plenty of money. Owner's attitude was ok but kind of aloof. She puts all the boxes on the counter and cooly says $41.40.   Huh? I didn't know that I ordered the gold plated donuts and the platinum filled maple bars. So I told Mey (the owner) that I had to go back to my car and get some more money. As I walked to my car and thought about it I realized this was way too much to pay for two dozen donuts and 2 maple bars. So when I came back I told her that I changed my mind and would just like a baker's dozen. Her face turned to stone. She offered no options but rather said no we can't do that. Then she said how much do you have?  I'm thinking she's going to be nice and offer me some kind of discount. So I showed her my $30 and she practically grabs it out of my hand. I had my debit card in my other hand and she kept staring at that.  She then pointed at the card and said "We'll put the rest on that".  At this point I asked - how much does a dozen donuts cost?  She never really gave me a straight answer but mumbled something about it not being a 'typical' dozen - that she threw in some other 'specialty' donuts (which I never asked for). I felt caught between a rock and a hard place and I'm not the type of patron that would just walk out (I should have at this point) so I just handed my card to her and she promptly swiped it.  I picked up my boxes and she just kept saying "Thank you!"  "Have a nice day!" and then "Thank you!" again.  It was very strange.  In the end I felt taken advantage of.  I think a good business owner does not just focus on their product but also on the entire customer experience - included not making customers feel overcharged.  I thought, "We'll maybe I'm overthinking this and I'm off base here"...  So I read some past customer reviews.  Turns out this review is on the mark. Please read past reviews by Big M., Mike S., Janna R. and Kevin B. Be careful with your hard earned money here. Definitely not the $ Donuts In response to Mey business owner comment: Mey, thank you for your response however it is inaccurate. This part definitely never happened: "in which we asked (as we do to ensure clarification with every single customer) if you would like the regular dozen priced at $12.00 that includes only cake or regular donuts, or the mix of everything with fancy donuts which runs at each item being individually priced" Maybe you thought you said this but it absolutely did not happen. Remember I only had $30 with me and I had to go out to my car to retrieve addtional funds. Don't you think I would have tailored down my order if you would have been clear about the pricing? My intention is not to hurt your business. It's apparent that you have customers who like your donut shop. However you cannot be subjective in how you treat different customers. Came in during valentines and asked for a half dozen 3 hearts 2 devils food and a raised sprinkle. First she puts them in a bag instead of a box. When I asked for a box she said "I bagged them nicely for you". Why are you arguing and not trying to give a box for a half a dozen? She finally gives me a box after I explain that was the reason for a half a dozen being ordered then she totals me out and price gouges me. I paid as much as I would of for a full bakers dozen anywhere else but only got 6 tiny donuts here. The devils food tasted like fake chocolate. Go somewhere else this lady is definitely making up her own prices when she types it into her little old cash register. Definitely lost a new customer. Went into top donuts while I waited in the Nob Hill parking lot for a grocery pick up. It was early afternoon, like 1:30pm on a Saturday, but already there were very limited options of donuts available. That's a bummer especially if they plan on being open into the afternoon. Luckily they had a chocolate cake donut which is my go to always. It was a solid donut, a bit too dense for my taste, however nicely chewy and fresh. Their donuts could be top-notched, but their attitude is way bottom. I went in today to have donuts since I saw the review is highly ranked. When I walked in, there is a speaker playing loud music. The service person can't hear me well when I ordered and asked me "to speak loud". I told her that music is too loud, and she retorted "No. It's not loud". Well, I search for the speaker and it's behind me and it's pointing at me and at her directly. No wonder she can't hear well, and asking customer to speak loudly. I cancelled the order and informed her that she has attitude issue, and she retorted and insulted me with "Sorry you feel that way". Stopped in here in the evening and was greeted with excellent customer service, who even gave us some restaurant recommendations in the area since we were visiting from out of town. Got a dozen donuts packed neatly into boxes to help stay fresh for the morning. They looked so good we couldn't wait til the morning to try one! Great and a warm welcoming, which is nice now a days. We are out of towners and we used our Yelp app to find us great coffee and donuts. Yelp didn't fail us! AWESOME personality from the woman serving us. My husband went with the chocolate bar w/custard filling, simply devine. I went with a blueberry donut and "oh man!" Amazing flavor, not too sweet. I wish I was writing a great review for this place because I love donuts! Unfortunately, my husband was extremely offended over the customer service and the way the lady treated him today. I was shocked to hear because this shop has good reviews! I don't know if she is racist or just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but she was very condescending and rude to my husband when he asked questions about the selections of donuts she had. Which I think is fair given it was his first time there. She continued to be VERY rude after my husband asked her to repeat his total to him since he could not hear her through the mask. (Again understandable) My husband is a polite and respectful person but this woman really ruined his morning. It was his first time here and it will be the last time we will take our business or recommend this place. It's unfortunate that not all customers get the same treatment. I guess you have to be a reoccurring customer in order to get decent service. I remembered this place when I worked in Watsonville during the late 1980's. It had the best donuts in town, bar none. In the area, I stopped to pick up an old fashion and croissant. The old fashion was OK, not the best, not smooth melt in your mouth just OK. The croissant was a disaster. The female clerk went in the back to get one, then proceeded to warm it in the microwave. I asked if it was fresh she said yes, that's it better warm. Got to my car and took a bite - hard, extremely chewy outside and very stale inners. Talk about disgusting as it found the nearest trash can. Won't be back as I won't give my $$ to a business that sells very stale product as fresh. read more

Amazing! I'm not one to write many reviews, especially about donut shops, but this time I feel compelled. My family and I were blown away at how good this donut shop was. We were in town for a soccer game and the kids wanted some donuts after the game. Did a quick yelp search and found this place. We passed 3 other donut shops on the way. What really made this was the person behind the counter. She was so kind, polite, inviting, energetic and warm, it really caught my wife and I by surprise. I didn't catch her name, but she mentioned she had owned the shop for a very long time. Her attitude and spirit literally brightened our day. I walked out of there just thinking about how a simple interaction like that can really impact someone's life. Great selection of donuts and the sesame bagels looked awesome too. The kids got glazed twists and loved them and the wife and I shared some donut holes. I didn't expect much, but I was totally amazed at how good those donut holes were as was my wife. Not sure why they were so much better than any other donut hole I have ever had, but they were really fantastic. Maybe it was the service that made them taste so good. My friends and I came here while on retreat. We were pretty hungry and we saw the Top Donut sign and got really excited. It was about 5 in the afternoon so we were a bit concerned because the good donut places near our place closed at 3. But not this place! It was super good. We got a dozen donuts. The twists were delicious and so were the maple bars. Actually all of it was pretty good ahah we also got regular glazed and chocolate covered. My friend absolutely loved the maple bars here. She was like "I didn't expect it to be THIS good!" My other friend who got a maple bar got it filled with whipped cream. They also fill it with custard. I always get a good donut here. I like the glazed because they're light and fluffy. Sometimes I change it up and get the jelly or chocolate bar. I usually get the chocolate bar filled. She fills them right then. One reviewer said they got stale crumbs. I don't believe it. I don't go often but I've been there in the morning, at lunch time and after work (The Chinese restaurant and the cleaners are next door.) and never gotten a bad donut. Now the selection is another thing. They seem to make the donuts all day so there is a selection but it can be slim. That's ok though because I'll just get something different.
