Came here on a Saturday morning. I was able to find street parking relatively easy and the location looked safe. The only reason I mention security is because last time in Kensington I did not have a safe experience. The place had a few patrons and it was so quiet. Service was polite and quick. If you sit near the window I would recommend waving at the cat who has his chill spot on the window across the street. I also ordered just a breakfast sandwich on sourdough and "sugar Town" made out of cream cheese, smoked wild salmon, capers. Both were good! I would definitely come back.

Plenty of seating. The almond croissant looked huge, I didn't end up grabbing but plan to in the future. Not sure which coffee beans they use, but my drip coffee was amazing. Service was nice! The first time I wanted to try Gryphon Cafe, they were closed due to short staffing. This time, they didn't have kitchen staff to order savory items. I hope they get the help they need!

Gryphon cafe is a very spacious coffee shop that has a cool rustic feel to the place. It's a decent size spot for cafes in Philadelphia. With traditional seating or you can sit on one of their couches they have. The menu features all of your favorite coffee items. They also have bagels, sandwiches, pastries, and a yogurt bowl to choose from for food options. This is a great and friendly neighborhood spot to grab coffee or take and and relaxing to spend some time.

    Breakfast Sandwich - Oxford

I came to this cafe with a friend on a Sunday morning for breakfast. I really liked their variety of drinks and food. The indoor decor was great there were lots of seats and people were studying nearby at the tables. Probably my favorite part is the interior it has a very vintage feel while still modern which is expected in Fishtown. As for food I ended up getting the lavender lemonade which was extremely sweet but still refreshing. I opted for The Oxford breakfast sandwich - switched out prosciutto for bacon arugula, rustic cheese blend on a Philly muffin. My food was pretty good. The bread tasted fresh and bacon was good. The arugula was on the side. Thought for sure they'd put it on the sandwich but I just put a few leaves there myself. I plucked off a star for service. For some reason our food took a bit longer than I'd expect for a breakfast sandwich. Also my friend's food took even longer and she only got some toast with spread on it. Service felt a bit disjointed while there but it certainly didn't ruin the visit. I'd come back here.

Large space to work and coffee was beyond tasty! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE ALMOND JOY LATTE! Service was quick and easy

Fantastic service!!!! I had an espresso con panna and the espresso was bright and strong. For lunch, I had the chicken salad and it was excellent. 10/10 would recommend!!! The internet was a bit spotty but surely an easy fix. Vibes definitely reminded me of a cafe in the Lower East Side of NYC. Would definitely recommend!!!! Hidden gem in Kensington!

Pretty spacious coffee shop attached to an apartment complex. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. Good spot to study or read since they have free wifi, but note hours, they close very early. Coffee is good, but not amazing. The small size is 8oz which should be the size of a macchiato or shot of espresso, not the size of a latte. Personally, there are other coffee shops in the area that I like better, but this is not a bad option!

Solid place to sit, study, and have a cup of coffee. The floor plan is spacious and doesn't feel too tight like you're sitting in someone's space. I had one of their sandwiches which was just OK and a bit overpriced, but overall good for a coffee shop.

Brie and fig toast. So good!

Great atmosphere for working on your computer or reading. Really peaceful and pleasant. The food options are solid too. Great fig and brie toast and nice herbal tea options. I only wish they'd stay open later than 3pm!

10/10. I can say I've tried a lot of coffee shops in Philadelphia and this one is by far the best coffee in the area of Fishtown

It is a small shop with limited seating. I am a persimmon lover so my decision was an easy one, I had the Persimmon Leaf Tea that has notes of natural wine and roasted squash. It was absolutely wonderful and perfect on this 34 degree day. My son had a seasonal drink called Midwinter Memory. It had cranberry bitters and was topped with yuzu rind powder. He loved it. Since persimmons are one of my most favorite fruits to eat, I just had to ask the barista why this coffee shop had the name persimmon. The co-owner is Korean. Persimmons hold a prominent place in traditional Korean culture which represent good fortune and wealth. If you have never had one, do yourself a favor and try one. Eat it when it's more ripe so the sweetness comes through. Cute merch that is all things persimmons such as tees and jewelry are for sale as well.

I also love that they're always coming out with seasonal drinks and food specials, which keeps the menu fun and interesting. Definitely worth keeping up with their Instagram for updates. For the food though, there were a couple things I personally probably wouldn't order again. The J St Sando didn't have much flavor in my opinion, and the OG banh mi just wasn't anything particularly special to me. However, the tamarind fries and the gochujang fried chicken banh mi were delicious!! Those were definitely the standouts for me and what I'd come back for. Overall still a really fun spot with great energy and creative menu items.

I don't think I've ever visited an an hour where I've seen it not. Often a line going from the counter, down the stairs, all the way to the bathroom. If you're looking for a quick coffee stop, don't expect to be in and out of here. That being said, they've got some kinds of seating not typical of coffee shops, including this nice long U-shaped couch seating. You'll be around with other folks reading or enjoying their joe, but it's a nice change of pace. Working-wise, wi-fi is solid. Outlets are sparse. Hard to stay a long time here. Music is at least at a tolerable level to tune out and is not usually too bumping. Staff here are quick, but won't be the friendliest. They won't be rude either. They're just trying to get through the line so don't take it personally Overall: would much prefer other places like Capital One Cafe for the reasons I visit cafes, but I can see this being a nice place for other more leisurely-natured visits!
