We have three rules for our camping week on the Cape... Seafood everyday, ice cream everyday and total body submersion, no acclimation everyday. So, on our first morning we always visit the Top Mast Cafe. Today I chose the lobster omelet, my wife two eggs over easy w/ bacon , home fries and toast. The lobster was fresh and delicious. A wonderful surprise. I had eaten breakfast here before, and it was fine, but the new dinner service (outdoor seating) was amazing. Try the osso bucco (lamb shank). It's as good as any similar dish you'll find anywhere. Service was great--although they did warn us the lamb would take 30 minutes. People are very friendly and helpful. Prices are comparable to P-town and not outrageous. Only drawback was the night we were there was incredibly windy, but we were assured that wasn't always the case. Highly recommended. read more

It breaks my heart to have to write this, as I've been going to the Top Mast since the early 2000s, and even went there with my family in the 1970s, but my experience at the fish fry this past Friday, July 24th, was horrible, and I truly hope things improve quickly. Our server did not introduce himself, so I can't tell you his name (white male, shaved head, glasses). He seemed fidgety/nervous the entire time we were there, with an abrupt, unfriendly demeanor throughout. Our server even erred on the simple task of giving us water. My daughter, who has never had a carbonated beverage in her life, told me that something seemed really wrong with her water, and when I tasted it, I could tell immediately that it was seltzer. It was a portent of things to come. My son asked for no tomatoes or onions on his chicken breast sandwich and he replied "IT'S ALREADY MARINATED," which did not actually answer the question. When another server passed by, we gave her the same request, and she was happy to assist. The server also seemed frustrated when we asked what types of salad dressings you have, and barked them out in rapid succession. My son's dinner was not what he ordered. He requested a chicken breast sandwich, and instead received a King Henry the VIII-type turkey leg, but he liked it enough to eat it. My daughter asked for fries and got mashed potatoes, and when she told the server, he said, "I know," and then brought out the fries. If he knew, why did he give her the mashed potatoes? At one point, I asked if I could have a Coke, and he said, "Yes," then immediately scurried away without asking the others if they wanted drinks. At the end of the evening, when I used the iPad to pay, he looked over my shoulder to see how much I was giving him for a tip. Lastly, the outdoor dining area was clean and attractive-looking, but we were attacked off and on by small bugs the whole time. The experience overall was uncomfortable and frustrating, the exact opposite of what a quiet dinner on the Cape ought to be. I don't mind paying for pricey dinners, but if you're going to take my money, you ought to make sure you're providing excellent service. That didn't happen on Friday. Do better. read more

Location was great, right off the water and you could take a walk to the ocean and stroll along the beach when you're done with your meal. Lobster omelet and Mediterranean eggs were both creative and delcious. Would love to go back and get them again if we had more time. Definitely recommend if your staying in or near Truro. read more

Great spot for a fresh breakfast. It is attached to a hotel and efficiency stay apt's - that are very clean and have special rates for weekends etc. We were a bit skeptical when we saw the small cafe with no diners, but were pleased with the food and experience. When we heard the restaurant is really a side to the catering angle we knew the food would be fresh and tasty. The coffee was fine - had a special that was a seafood fritatta - loaded with lobster meat and cheese. I had poached with spinach and home-fries. All was fresh and hot. We had martin's as well and I have to say it was the best darn martini I have had in a long time. i guess the moral of the story is Caterers do it better! My sister is on vaca in the area so i will be back as well as her. FYI Pool and porch area not done yet:( read more

The food was good. The service was horrible. It took HOURS to get breakfast here. Two of us ordered dishes that specifically came with a side of bacon. We never got the bacon but didn't say anything because it took so long to get the food. Then we got the bill and they charged us extra for the bacon! When we told him it needed to be removed because a) it was advertised to be included in that plate and b)we never actually got it - the guy asks us if we are sure. Yes! We're sure so he tells us he has to go confirm with someone else. Then we made the mistake of asking for the bill to be split. He ended up charging one of cards twice and said he was going to void it. We asked for the void slip and when he didn't appear for another half hour we got up and left. We will dispute with cc company if we have to. Turns out he was up front on his cellphone doing nothing. It was a huge waste of time coming here. read more

Because I can't give it negative stars. What a clusterf&$k. Just waited ONE HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES for no food. No apology. Lousy service. 20 plus minutes for water and a warm peach Bellini-- supposed to be "frozen" peach slush and cold champagne. Absolute crap. Redid the inside, now redo the staff. Ordered grilled blueberry muffin at suggestion of manager. 35 minutes later-- check on it? 45 minutes later? "We ran out." No sorry, no muffin. Ordered eggs-- nothing fancy. Hour later, no food. Family of ten with little well-behaved kids-- were there before us-- no food. They ask AGAIN: manger snips at them " homemade from-scratch food TAKES a while." Not this long, sweetie. Couldn't print check without "manipulating" it for 5 minutes at front desk. OMFG. Young (Russian?) waitress who started two weeks ago?? Quick-- quit and run to the Post Office Cafe or Edwige or the Old Tips. Disgraceful. Embarrassing. As we leave we hear from several tables "see, we're not the only ones who are upset!" Has undergone a recent renovation and the aesthetics are better but unfortunately the food and service have declined. Ate there for breakfast today and the service was Sloooooow and the food was cold. This used to be a favorite breakfast spot but not any more. read more

I came here on Saturday with a group of four and we had a delicious meal. We started with a cinnamon roll which we all agreed was one of the best cinnamon rolls we have ever tasted. It was so fluffy and soft and warm and the icing just melted and dripped off the sides. We asked and the waitress said they make them fresh every day. We tried pancakes, eggs Benedict, a burrito and Portuguese platter and enjoyed all of them. That experience was a 5 star in my book. We all loved the cinnamon roll so much that we decided to come back on Monday and each order our own roll. We were sorely disappointed. The rolls were clearly not fresh. As soon as they put them on the table we could see the difference. The icing was a glob and not melted at all because the roll was not warm. It was day old, stale and chewy and to top of it off the wait staff was not as attentive. Sadly out last meal of vacation was a 1 star. We will be back next year but will make sure to ask if the rolls were baked that day otherwise they are not worth the calories! read more

I am really patient and understanding when it comes to any kind of service industry, as someone who is in the service industry myself, but this was really such a poor experience. I called for a pick up order quite early in the morning, which was already quite disorderly and chaotic. The phone was handed back and forth about 3 times between different people. I finally went to give them my order, just to be told the items I was ordering (from the menu found on their website) is no longer available and an "old menu". Which was fine, I moved on. I was told my order would be ready in 15-20 mins. I went to pick up my food (I waited almost 30 mins just so it would be ready when I got there) I was told it wasn't ready. Again, no problem I understand things happen. There were about 3 to-go orders bagged up and ready to go, I asked if one of them was mine, to which she said no yours isn't ready. Four other people come in to get their pick up orders and I started getting confused how 40 mins after I placed my order it still wasn't ready? I started to get antsy how a single omelet was taking near 45 mins? I got closer to look at the bags to see if one of them was mine and what do you know, my to-go order was sitting there the entire 20 mins we waited there... The food probably would have been good had it been hot, but instead it was cold and soggy. Very disappointing. read more

Was recommended this spot as a nearby place to eat by our hotel and we were gravely disappointed. COVID accommodations were fine and there's wonderful outdoor seating with zen decor and coy pond but the food was disappointing. The "special" lobster bisque was goopey (for lack of a better term), discolored, and didn't even taste like lobster. And the steamed clams in broth were tongue-in and simply tasted wrong. We ordered a burger and a sandwich for the main and everything was cold except for the fries. Drinks were served in too big of a glass and therefore were watered down. My husband and I had a great breakfast here during our stay at the hotel. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my husband ordered two eggs with corned beef hash. We also put in for a Bloody Mary each. Let me start by saying set plenty of time aside to wait for everything! Took 10 mins to get 4 drinks and then another 45 mins to get simple breakfast plates. Nobody ever checked in on us for more drinks or to let us know the food was coming.....Eventually! Food was mediocre at best when it did finally arrive. Wouldn't go back here again if the meal was free. I'm not usually a review person but I feel people need to know before wasting time and money here. read more

The outdoor dinning setup was very nice and relaxing. The service was very slow. We waited at the entrance without anyone greeting us for a very long time. It took a while for us to place our order and a few minutes after the waitress returned and said that they ran out of the dish we had ordered. We ordered a second time and it took a long time to get our meals. When the food did arrive the burger was raw to the point it was not edible. If you are going for just drinks this place might be nice but don't order food. read more

Long overdue review. My family and I ate breakfast at Top Mast on 3 separate occasions the first week of July and we love, love, love it there! The food is consistently yummy, the waitstaff are attentive, Jen was downright funny as heck, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time....Tony is a great manager....We've been coming here for years and will be back again next year.....so nice to not have to wait to be seated and ample parking too.....and yes, outdoor seating and a great coy pond.....what more could you want???? We come here at twice during our annual week long stay in Provincetown. Located right off 6A with plenty of parking, the food is good and while we have had some slow wait times for food (staff is almost always international) it had still been a great experience. Koi pond outside is great for littles, and the daily breakfast specials are always creative and super yummy! read more

I'm posting this after two attempts to contact managment with no luck: Four of us stopped in on Friday Oct. 7 2016 for "Fish Fry" Friday. After being seated the waitress Lisa came to our table with a very obvious bad attitude... We asked about the fish fry and she RUDELY replied "there aren't any fish frys, it's fish fryday!!" After taking our order she went to the bar kitchen area and made a comment on how much she HATES STRAIGHT PEOPLE!!!! We almost got up and left but instead decided to stick it out.... She forgot one of our sides and when we politely asked for it she made a big sigh and basically stomped back to the kitchen.... Food was pretty good... The rest of the staff seemed very happy and upbeat... you may want to have a talk with Lisa about her table manners or you could loose more customers. read more

First.....the service was impeccable. Super friendly waiters and cook....I am not sure who the owners are but could have been any of the very friendly men that greeted us and waited on us. A fresh cinnamon roll made from scratch was offered to us to nibble on while we waited for our food. I got a bloody mary (which they called a meaty mary....it comes with bacon!) It was fabulous. The bloody mary mix was made fresh. I had banana pecan pancakes and again.....mouthwatering, fabulous....I can't say enough how good everything was. My husbands pancake (as a side dish) was made into the shape of Mickey Mouse which for some reason made him smile ear to ear....the place has a special kind of charm and hospitality.
