My boyfriend and I were visiting Provincetown for the first time, and one of the things we were excited about was trying a different local coffee shop each morning. Unfortunately, this was the only disappointing experience we had. We both ordered 24-ounce iced coffees, but mine was made hot. Mistakes happen, so I politely let the employee know that I had ordered it iced. Instead of apologizing, I was met with a rude response saying, "We ask people to read the screen so we don't have to remake drinks." It felt like I was being blamed for a mistake, which was really off-putting. Customer service goes a long way, especially when people are spending around $30 on coffee and pastries. A simple apology and remaking the drink without making the customer feel at fault would have completely changed the experience. The employee also seemed unhappy to be there, which added to the negative atmosphere. It's unfortunate because we were excited to support local businesses during our visit, but this experience left a bad impression. read more

Joe is one of the favorite meeting place in Provincetown. People either meet here for coffee, a sandwich or a snack or just meet here on their way east or west of the store. There's a nice patio area with lots of tables and chairs which makes this setting really relaxing and fun. Inside, where you order, they have lots of choices of beverages, pastries, sandwiches, etc. I went in to get a bag of coffee for a friend and the process was very easy. read more

Hi, Joe. Every year in the fall, my husband and I have been coming to P-Town. In fact, 2025 was trip number 39. When Joe's opened it quickly became a favorite. Each year, I would write my review. Some years were a real disaster mostly due to employees who gave an attitude of..."Yeah, whaddya want?" The owners of Joe would actually write me back to apologize and promise better next year. And it usually was! 2025 stood out to me because the staff was mostly male with two females. The men were there daily but the women were there individually and for only one day each. The first, wild haired, seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but there was a real treat. I said, 'Season will almost be over.' to which she answered rather surly..."Thank, Christ." The second woman was so different, tiny, short dark hair, always smiling and always looking up at you since she was tiny! She made you smile, you could not smile. She got along great with the guys, too. Just pure, innocent sweetness. The coffe was great, the sandwiches were great, the baked goods were great. Guess what kind of a season you had??? Joe Coffee was a nice and gave us some time to stop from our walk and get a cup and sit and relax on their nice outdoor terrace. Service was a tad slow, however courtious. They have a nice assortment of yummy baked goods which were very fresh and good. ALso nice artwork for sale inside at a decent price. We got an iced vanilla latte and a hot chocolate. Both honestly were just ok so the vibe definitely exceeded the drinks. For me, Joe's was a very inviting place, and "dangerous" in a good way. Right away, you have the large blackboard full of all your drink options, both hot and cold. Then there's those confections. Even worse, they're constantly making more in the back, so you are subjected to the smell, mostly of chocolate, all through your visit there if you are eating indoors (oh the horrors). And of course, the place is very dog friendly. Outside is also comfortable in nice weather, though being close to the water, the breeze was just a little too strong for me. I decided to spent a cold January day in P-town and wanted a place where I could have a coffee, something to eat, and read my book. When I arrived I was kindly greeted by the owner, Mark. He informed me that they couldn't make anything with espresso because their machine was down but they had hot and iced coffee. Normally I get lattes so I was sad to hear this. I asked about food as well because I was hungry at that point. He told me they only had muffins right then but had ham and cheese croissants in the oven. Mark was so sweet, he told me I could go to the other coffee shop down the road and get something and then come back to sit here as the other place didn't have seating. I chose to stay and was very happy with my decision, my hot coffee, pistachio muffin, and a fresh ham and cheese croissant. There weren't many people as it was the off season, so I was able to sit and read in a quiet, comfortable, dog friendly, environment. I don't spend much time in p-town but when I do, I will be returning to Joes. read more

The coffee was okay, just okay. The baked goods (quiche and egg bite with spinach and feta) were mediocre, more like the ones you buy from Stop & Shop. The oatmeal was horrible. And indeed, the staff heated them using a microwave oven! Just how I imagined how a Stop & Shop cafe looks like if they ever decide to open one. The staff was inattentive. I ordered a tea for my friend, and he did not care to notify me of how hot the tea was. Nor was sleeve or beverage plug provided. I definitely felt my hand burn after the tea spilled on it. I could imagine this warrants a lawsuit or a request to see the manager if it happens to a Karen. The plus side is that it has a nice patio with plenty of sunshine. Joe Coffee is semi new to Ptown. They opened in 2019 and they seem to be doing well for themselves. There are always guests sipping their beverages on their expansive patio and other patrons in line hopefully to place their caffeinated order of choice. Don't be intimated, the line moves quickly. They also offer baked goods and popsicles. I didn't purchase either but they looked amazing. I was happy with my hot chocolate order. Man, I liked the coffee here! I had coffee from three places while in Ptown and this was the best. Croissants are amazing...my mouth waters just thinking about them. I had a ham and cheese one day and a sausage, egg and cheese another day and both were terrific. Definitely a go to place. I can't go with five stars because I am impatient and service is leisurely and I usually had to repeat my order three times before it was fully absorbed, but that's okay because the staff is friendly. If there's a line of more than two people, however, bring a book because you may be awhile. read more

Visited Provincetown with my work friend. It's a cool downtown where you can walk up and down at your leisure. Needed a pick me up and decided to try Joe Coffee. They have a great outdoor seating area. I ordered a Bombon, which is espresso with condensed milk. Joe Coffee sticks to the traditional Italian way of serving espresso drinks (served in a small 2-3 fl.oz.. demitasse cup). Mine was in a paper cup for takeout. Overall, had great taste and flavor, but was a little lukewarm. Probably the condensed milk used was right out from the fridge, wished they had warmed the condensed milk a little bit prior mixing it with the espresso shot. Upon reading the reviews, looks like Joe Coffee just went through an ownership change. One of the owners asked how was my drink and he seemed very friendly. Hopefully with new ownership, they can bring back Joe Coffee to the exceptional quality and service they once had before, and even better! read more

This spot serves organic coffee (indigo brand) and has a lovely outdoor seating area. 99% of the time I just drink brewed coffee, but I wanted something a little special so I ordered an oat milk macchiato, and then panic changed my order to just a black espresso (because why pay extra for a dime sized drop of oat milk?) Well, turns out I should have splurged! All drinks were free (!) on the day I visited, in honor of John Crowley's birthday. I didn't know John, but I love an establishment that honors it's people and gives back to the community, while also serving high quality organic products and being patient with indecisive customers.
