Decent..hot and cold..ate here three times this week ...first time was ok..waitress brought Benedict instead of lobster Benedict..second time was okay, and the third time, we had the same waitress as the first time and she only took our order..never checked in and never refilled coffee, our food looked like it sat under a heat lamp, and after waiting 30 min for it, we had to wait another 20 before we could find her to ask for the check. Jamaican bus girl was awesome and informative all 3 times and maybe the only reason we kept coming back! Only place in north truro to sit down and eat breakfast so we were a captive audience..didn't hate it enough to stop going but after the third experience I think we had enough! read more

Super slow service. It took 50 minutes for our 2 breakfast plates to come out. Pancakes and an omelet. These are simple quick to make breakfast plates. The pancakes weren't done either. The omelette was good though read more

Top Mast Cafe offers daily brunch and Friday dinner service. We ate there 2x for brunch with praise for the quality of the food. The staff was efficient and welcoming. Friday evening dinner was more of a challenge for this brunch staff, despite our order of two fish dinners taking more than an hour to be served, we left happy due to the terrific customer service offered by Tony. Thanks for your understanding of our complaints, we will be back during our next vacation... but maybe just for brunch! read more

Had breakfast here today. Very quick to take a drink order. Coffee was hot and fresh. Food order came out in minutes and was as ordered. Eggs done perfect. Thick sliced cinnamon raisin toast fresh and toasted nicely. Home fries also very good. The wait staff kept the water and coffee toped off. Very attentive. Good food done right. We came here twice during our stay in this area, and I will definitely be back. Really friendly wait staff..they were super attentive, lots of coffee refills. I do like the home fries and we went back for a second change and the owner was sweating his butt off helping.. that was great! Our experience was similar to Amanda T's.....great food, good service, attentive owner, C+ coffee, very nice place with roomy dining room and a nice outdoor area as well. Compares favorably with Homeport in Orleans on food but wins on atmosphere and decor. read more

Stayed at the Top Mast for a week in July and ate at the Top Mast Café almost every morning. The food was delicious and the staff/manager are very efficient and friendly. July is the height of the tourism season on the cape, so expect to wait no matter where you go. I came back to the café Labor Day weekend and, once again, it was wonderful. read more

We stopped today for a Saturday brunch. What a mistake! Extremely unreceptive staff that ignores a line of people waiting to put names in for a table. Once we were seated a drink order was taken. Yup, didn't get that right. I ordered a cinnamon bun to start. When it came out, it was dry, seemed stale, and very hard to chew. So hard it made my TMJ pop so bad! When I said something, I was told they are baked every hour. No apology. We sat there waiting for our main dishes, empty drinks, so we had to call someone's attention to get more coffee and tea. From the time we placed our order to food on the table was 45 minutes. We watched 3 tables that we sat well after us order and receive their food before us. When I asked about, I was told it was just being finished and would be right out. I go back to the table and the food had arrived. Funny! First bite, COLD! Just being finished? Sent back to be reheated. Noone checked to make sure it was allset after being reheated, noone offered any beverage refills, or water. Plan and simple the staff didn't care care! So when I cashed out with the server at the table, I explained that I had just chosen 'NO TIP' on their system and listed all the above reasons why. All he said, "Okay". No, "sorry", no, "let me get the manager", nothing. A blank, careless stare. And to that, I leave this review for the next visitors to see. We were looking for a place close to the cottage we were renting for breakfast. This place hit the spot! We both ended up having the Lobster Benedict. It was fantastic! Service was great and the staff were all friendly and attentive. We sat outside, there were 4 other tables dining at the same time we were and the inside looked full. Don't eat here for the Friday Fish Fry......this restaurant is only open for breakfast except during summer, it opens for what they call Friday night fish fry. The food, a seafood platter, was lack luster and not fresh tasting as advertised. At the waiter's suggestion, we substituted fries for onion rings, which not only was an upcharge but tasted like frozen, not homemade. The salad was fresh and tasty, however, there were no selection of dressings, only one dressing available. After an unmemorable food experience, our bill was incorrect, we had been overcharged for the drinks. We had decided to try the breakfast since it was so highly rated but after the less than pleasant experience, we will spend our dollars elsewhere. read more

We went for the Friday-night fish fry, and found a wonderful selection of from-scratch items, especially the beer-battered haddock that's in-house prepared. You can get that as the centerpiece of your fish-fry dinner, or on a platter with shrimp and scallops for a little extra, served with excellent fries and cole slaw. There's also a prime rib option, in three sizes: the middle, the "queen," proved to be more than enough for me. A nice cut of meat, and my only complaint is that it wasn't as rare as I'd requested -- but, given the way the roast must be cooked, that's a common problem. Outdoor seating is available on a pleasant-looking patio, but we opted for indoors because of the chill in the air -- and the dining room is bright and attractive, recently remodeled, we were told. Service was prompt and friendly. We'll make this a staple of future Cape Cod visits. read more

Surprisingly, excellent! Ate dinner here shat a turn around! several years ago and swore never to eat here again. However, was caught walking in the rain and ducked in to get a cup of coffee. Visited the café this am - with a party of 10 for breakfast - I realize that serving 10 people can be a challenge. Couple of the meals came out cold, parts of the order were forgotten (Not that big of a deal things happen). Then the waiter in a rush to move us along reached over my wife, who was still eating, grab my plate and spilled Hollandaise sauce all over her shirt and jacket. (Again things happen). They did their best to clean it up with a wet towel. The real issue was the manager came over and basically had a wise crack about the incident. Not looking for a free meal or even a discount but the total lack of concern about a ruined shirt and jacket from management warranted this review.
