Iced Caramel Latte and Hot Mocha
    Matthew L.

Café Maria is a small café that opened in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1998. It was founded by Portuguese immigrant Maria Silva. Originally from Ponte de Lima in the north of Portugal, Silva immigrated to the United States in late 1972. She would eventually settle in Provincetown, which at one time had a large Portuguese immigrant population. It was difficult at first to learn a new language and customs, but eventually she found her niche working as a baker and teaching English to Portuguese immigrant children. In the late 1990s, an ice cream parlor by the beach went up for sale. Silva decided to purchase it and make it her own business. Today the café is open for breakfast and lunch and serves an array of fresh baked goods, sandwiches, wraps, salads, smoothies, coffees, and shakes. Staying true to the roots of the business, Silva also continues to proudly serve Gifford's Ice Cream at the café. My family and I visited Café Maria on our recent week-long trip to the Cape. We spent the third day of our trip entirely in Provincetown. Before embarking on an early morning Whale Watch cruise, we decided to see if there were any good places nearby to grab a quick breakfast. Café Maria had great recommendations on Yelp so we decided to stop there. For coffee, my sister-in-law had an Iced Caramel Latte while I had a Hot Mocha. Both drinks were very flavorful and quickly woke us up for a day of fun activities. For food, we all decided to get some breakfast sandwiches. We opted to get them served on Portuguese Muffins, which are similar to English Muffins but much sweeter and fluffier. My wife had "Eggs, Cheese & Sausage", our son had "Eggs, Cheese & Bacon", sister-in-law had "Eggs & Cheese", and I had "Eggs, Cheese & Linguiça". These were excellent breakfast sandwiches and we were all happy with our choices! If you're looking for a cheap and quick breakfast or lunch in Provincetown then look no further than Café Maria!

Very inconspicuous and doesn't look like much, but they open earlier than most places. It was difficult to decide, since everything smelled amazing!! I landed on the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant and it did not disappoint!! The coffee was decent too. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area again.

Perfect spot to grab a quick breakfast and sit at the beach! A bit pricey but what you expect for beach access. Definitely get the Portuguese bread muffin with your sandwich and the ice latte was great!

Amazing! This has been my hidden gem! Portugués toast is amazing here and only here.

This is such a perfect location. Right in the heart of Provincetown, next to parking lot and right on the beach! such a great way to start the morning. they have great coffee wns breakfast options perfect to enjoy the beach or to quickly start the day!

Beautiful spot for a quiet morning breakfast on the harbor.

I visited four coffee shops during my week in PTown. Unfortunately, this was the fourth, as I would have gone no further. Great outdoor seating on the harbor, great coffee and a rather spectacular menu fit for breakfast or lunch. Everything bagel with lox and cream cheese was excellent, and generous. Strongly recommend.

This is a nice little coffee shop that makes tasty sandwiches that's next to the docks if you're going to go whale watching. They have outdoor seating where you can bring a dog.

Great place for breakfast or a quick snack. Located right next to town hall with some outdoor seating makes this a convenient stop. The coffee is delicious and they serve Gifford's Ice Cream! Try the bacon, egg and cheese in the croissant, very delicious.

Its intimate, and inviting; the perfect date place. The signers often involve you in the music and have you sing along. Their menu is centered around the almighty biscuit - biscuits/scones are one of my favorite ways to inhale carbs but they can run on the too bread-y side of the spectrum. These were fantastic: delicate crumb, beautiful golden color, and sturdy enough to hold in all the sandwich fillings. I went with the classic breakfast egg sandwich (scrambled egg, cheese, and arugula) and added sausage. This was one of those rare situations where the bread vehicle outshined the fillings. The egg, while nice and fluffy (and tasted like real egg instead of the diluted mix I've had elsewhere), could have used some more seasoning and was begging for a healthy dollop of ketchup or hot sauce. The only thing that came through strongly was the salt crystals on the top of the biscuit. Tried a bite of my husband's chicken salad on a cheddar/onion biscuit and had the same reaction - the biscuit overpowered everything else. Not that I'm complaining. The bakery is on a side street off the busier, more touristy Rogers Street. I had this idea too late but next time I'm in Gloucester, I'd take a biscuit sandwich to the beach area along Western Ave. The cafe itself is very, very cute, with little nooks and crannies everywhere for seating and even a comfy looking couch. Bathroom was clean. We found a parking lot one street over in the other direction.
