I am not writing a review against who did my nails. She was very sweet. I did a French gel manicure for my birthday did it on Wednesday birthday Friday. One of my nails chipped same day. I called next day with no problem redoing that nail. This is not the first time this happened but tjiscis not the place I usually do my nails they were busy. I believe nail products are old or cheap. The same nail chipped again but I didn't bother. I just won't get them done there. I feel they need to clean there equipment there all have nail polish on the outside of them or purchase new ones all black. This was the worst manicure I've ever gotten it was actually comical. If it wasn't the holidays, I probably would've put up a fight and not paid. I took off my own dip powder that was on my nails - this nail tech had me soaking my nails and gave me a paper towel to rub off the old color. She (didn't get her name - wish I did) ate a sandwich while I did so. She then clipped my nails, didn't file them, and started painting. There's paint all over the sides of nails and I need to go home and file them myself because of how sharp they are. Paid $30 for a gel manicure that took a total of 10 minutes. My 4 year old niece would've done a better job. I will NEVER return and you shouldn't either. read more

The workers were very nice and respectful depending on the nail tech you receive are the best nails you can get. My best set was the French almond with a pink bow on the ring finger it lasted a very long time and on the other sets they usually last four to five weeks. The last time I went I might've had trouble because the nail tech couldn't do the hibiscus on my ring finger right so I said I didn't like it and she got frustrated at me and took off the hibiscus then did the ring finger again. There could have been a better way to handle this because when she was taking off the polish you can sense the intensity in the room and aggression but in the end even though the nails didn't turn out exactly how they were supposed to they later lasted a long time. One of the other problems were that the square shape for the nails weren't as sharp as shown in the picture either. read more

I came in as a walk-in a couple of days ago & asked for an acrylic fill. I did walk into this location with the understanding that they, for the most part, want/expect high turnover rates so they do not take a very long time to get the job done. However... my acrylic fill was done in less than 20 minutes. In fact, I watched the clock while avoiding watching this man (possibly John?) pass the drill bits over my nails at an alarming speed, and it was almost 15 minutes on the dot from the second I sat down to the second he put the top coat on. I have sensitive nails, which I mentioned to him, and I don't know if his way of helping was to not smooth the acrylic over or if this is just his way of doing nails. The drill bits ran over my skin which hurt really bad, and all the process after burned for a while. I wanted a light pink color and possibly design with a short square/squoval shape, and thin acrylic - and I really feel like that is not a crazy request based off the fact I've had this done a million times by other techs, even when it's my first time to them. But when he walked up to me as I looked at colors he seemed immediately in a rush and I chose this nude color in case there were mistakes made, and I'm glad I did. Sometimes you can just tell a place will rush the job so they can take the next person immediately. The next issue I had was his table was very dirty. I looked at other techs tables and they weren't nearly as dirty. So keep that in mind. Overall, I'm not overly happy with the work or the lack of care, but I do understand 100% now that this spot has technicians that will run through the process as fast as possible with little attention to detail to make room for more people. Good spot if you just want to get a basic set done and are pressed for time. If I come back I'll simply request someone else, or make an appointment and let them know what I'm looking to do in advance. read more

I've been to Top Nails about 4 or 5 times now. While they usually take me in right away, even without an appointment, this place reminds me of a chop shop. The salon is too crowded with tech tables and the front desk is so close to the door you practically bang into it when you go in. There's absolutely no waiting area and if there are more than 3 people in the front there's no room to move. EVERY time I've gotten my nails done there they did not give me the color I asked for. Their sample color pallets are not true to the actual color when it's applied to the nail. I gave them a few passes on this issue but that ended when the last time I went there I picked out a color that looked like mauve on the sample pallet but ended up being purple when applied to my nails! When I questioned the tech he insisted that it was the right color because the number on the pallet matched the number on the bottle. I argued with him about it and even put my finger with the color on my nail side by side against the color on the sample pallet and they looked nothing alike. He still insisted it was right because the numbers matched. I'm done. Not worth the aggravation. I'll find somewhere else to go. read more

I come back for my daughter and the lady doing her nails tells her it's 20 for manicure .. so I said I was told and it's also posted on your wall that manicure is 15.. she tells me because my daughter got color is why it's 5 more ( I have never heard this in all my life ) So I asked again to make sure I'm hearing correctly.. Even writing this review I'm not sure if I'll try this salon again or not. I cannot lie, I was 80% happy with the job done when I left the salon. It was a cute design that looked good but the more I started really looking I noticed the nails weren't filed even and sloppy around the edges. I'm new to the area so figured ok... it's bearable until I get more settled in but to have a nail chip like this 2 days later when I haven't done much of anything this weekend? Went into this establishment to get a gel manicure, pedicure for my son and me and possibly eyelash extensions. The owner gave us a warm greeting and directed us to techs. I asked her how much was a regular pedicure, she responded 50 dollars and with the gel pedicure my fee would be 75 and my son would be 50 for his pedicure. I asked her again the price for a regular pedicure both my tech and my sons tech responded 50 dollars. i was taken aback by the price however we already had our feet in the water so I proceeded with the service. As she was doing my nails, a young lady was having a hard time with an older tech doing her eyelash extensions so I opted out of the service. My soul was still troubled about the 50 dollar pedicures ( we paid 125 plus we tipped both tech 10 dollars each). So I requested a fee schedule from the receptionist. She directed me to the board. Much to my surprise and anger a regular pedicure was 25.00/ a spa pedicure was 40.00 dollars and there was no listing for a 50 dollar pedicure. As you would imagine I was pissed. I spoke to the owner in a calm and rational manner. He called the tech over and she out right lied in face and said she told me it was a special spa manicure. I told her she was lying and that I asked both tech twice the price. It would have been no way i would opt for a 50 dollar pedicure. My anger started to turn to rage. The tech up charged services and lied. I'm an African American woman, professional and my son was present. I calmly explained to the manager that what she did was wrong and deceiving. In addition, I told him we trusted their word and patronized his establishment and even tipped graciously tipped the techs. He pretended to be empathetic and said the next time I will remember you and give you a discount. Inside I was boiling. My Response was "discount ?" I didn't come her for a discount and was forthcoming and a good paying customer. I expect honesty on behalf of the staff. At the end he didn't refund the over payment of our money. This is why situations escalate and turn bad. Now I was a paying customer, trusted on their word and gave this establishment 145 dollars for 2 pedicures and a gel manicure and had to suck it up. Being honest, they've grown too comfortable. They think that they own the area for nails and they don't. They don't clean their tools and treat all of their customers like a dollar sign. I simply asked to do my eyebrows and I was waved to the back room. I walked back there and was pushed out of a room for another customer. That's fine, that's all well and good but then still no help for another 10 minutes. I ended up standing around for 20 minutes. Proceeded to ask if I needed to come back later to do my eyebrows to be waved to the back again to wait for another 10 minutes. My friend and I came to have our nails done. I asked for solar, they didn't know what they were. I wanted to get the $40 nails but we got conned into to the $60 gels that they "said were stronger & would last longer for weeks. Where shall I start..the product they applied was thick and colored. Three coats were applied while my fingers received almost 10th degree scorching in their blue light. My nails were so thick they looked like toes, no..all of them big toes! After a few tries with different techs there I got the pleasure of having Steven. He is the best! By far the only good tech there! However the management is not. I called over a week ago to make an appointment with him. They were quick to give me the appointment for fill as well as a separate one for my toes with someone else. The woman on the phone stressed to me that I must explain the day of the appointment that I'm Stevens 9:45am not his 9 so that I do not mess up the order of the day. Day comes. I get there at 9am for my pedicure and explain that I am Stevens 9:45am for a fill. The woman assisted me and assured me it was fine. Halfway through my pedicure the same woman comes and tells me they need to bump me till 10am because the 9am he had was late. I had no issues. Finished my pedicure and went and waited. After a half hour (10:15am now) a man approaches asking why I was waiting. I explain that I am waiting for Steven. The guy then says to me no I am not because there are two other people waiting for Stephen one at 10 AM and one at 11 AM and that if I would like to see him I can come back at noon and he can try and squeeze me in. I then explain to the man that I had made an appointment over a week ago for today. He even shows me the appointment book to which my name is nowhere in there. This is not the first time that this is happened however it will be the last time. I made sure to make the appointment early because today is the day of my engagement photos. I wanted to make sure everything would be perfect however my nails are still not filled and look like they've been thrown out over two weeks. I will be looking for other salons going forward because of how dissed organized top nails is. They are quick to make appointments but they'll follow through on those appointments, or they double booked the technicians and put the pressure on them. I have been going to Top Nail for years because I loved the way Lu does my nails and Yao does my pedicure. But today I had my nails done by Tiffany (owners sisters recommended her) because Lu retired. I was treated as if I was a difficult customer as soon as I sat at Tiffany's table. She was not very friendly and when I told her how I like my nails, obviously she didn't listen. My nails were not shaped as I instructed. Good thing she was running behind and I had to move to the pedicure chair. I had time to file the side of every single nail since it was so uneven (I keep a file in my purse). Also, when I got back to her chair for her to paint my nails, she never asked me if I wanted a design, and then filed the side of each of my nails which removed the polish....I said to her "you just filed off the polish" and she said, oh it's on the side you don't see it. Two visits here, two check-in's, and I'm considered the their top ranking person on Yelp. Its sad that no one either returns for a second visit or are to ashamed they've come back. I've given this place two chances. If only they could do nails half as well as they try to up sell. This place being new to me, I started with a simple, basic manicure. The first time the manicurist "buffed" my nails with a hard file, to the point you could see the file marks in my nails even after the topcoat was on. She kept trying to push a gel manicure, even trying to convince me the manicure she was currently giving me wouldn't last more than a couple of days. Being that this salon is on the larger side, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it once more. This time, my bails were filed decently but not shaped, and the polish went on smoothly. The kicker was when it was time to dry my nails, instead of relocating to the drying table, the manicurist turns on the oscillating fan at her station and told be to sit there and dry my nails. Apparently, a regular customer came in and she went to dode over this customer and listen all about her son's upcoming trip to Hawaii for a few days before heading to Vietnam to meet his future in-laws, blah blah blah. Needless to say, while trying to position my fingers into the optimal fan drying range, the polish came into contact with all the clutter surrounding me. I hadn't even left my chair before my manicure was wrecked, and you know the manicurist wasn't come back to check on anything. This was my 1st time going to get my nails done since moving to New York. I did not need to make an appointment I just walked in and I was seated within 5 minutes. I soak my fingers and acetone to remove the next Gen. About 15 minutes later I was brought to a table with a nail technician by the name of Ricky. He removed My previous nails to get ready for the new set. I picked out 2 colors then I want to done but the color on the board did not match the color in the jar and I needed to change. They do not appear to use quality dips. After the manicure was over, for my fingers were bleeding on the right hand, and all the fingers on my left hand were in pain. Ricky was not careful with the dremmel near the cuticle line and cause pain and bleeding to all fingers. I have not experienced that much pain from a manicure in a Long time. When I came in they seemed completely all over. There was no waiting area and place was crowded. When I finally got sat down for my nails the lady doing them seemed completely not focused and rushed my nails which was obvious by the tacky gel layer she left on my nails at the end that I had to go home and fix myself. This was my first time ever getting acrylics on and well honestly it wasn't a great time, I asked for more of a nude ombré and got light pink which I wasn't upset about at all but although I love the shape one of the nails was put on crooked so you can see my natural nail on one sid. I went to get my eyelashes taken off and renewed. They had me sitting in the room for 35 minutes with lash removal glue while it was burning my eyes and nobody came to check on me. Booked an appt for French gel fill ins. I was seated at Stevens table. He was very polite, talkative and helpful. I asked him how long he has been working in this profession he says over 20 years. His work was quicker than I anticipated it to be. He also listened to everything I asked for. I asked for my nails to be thinner, more of a round pointed, and for a super curvy natural looking white tip. I will add a before photo, a photo of what I wanted, and lastly the finish product.
