I was craving Dunkin Donuts, but settled for this donut place upon finding out DD is closed. Had never been to a Top Pot before, but the reviews were promising. We decided to give 'em a try. Where I live, we are sadly limited to grocery store donuts. In comparison, this place is donut heaven. Only downside is the price-- $16.99 a dozen! Good Lord! Granted, they are pretty huge, but they cost three times as much! Loved the Bavarian Creme the most. Also enjoyed the Raspberry Bullseye, Blueberry Cake donut, and Maple Bar. We didn't have any that weren't good! They were not dry at all...heck, we're stil eating them three days later and they're still not dry or hard. The kid working behind the counter was nice and knowledgeable. We asked about some donuts they didn't have out and he knew if they were available and ran in the back to get them. They were busy, so I understand they didn't have time to refilll the case every time a variety sold out. Can't wait to come back to Top Pot. read more

I've heard of this mysterious place called Top Pot here and there but didn't know where this elusive place existed. I randomly found out that they have a newer location in Bellevue and decided to drop by after work to try some of their goodies. Wowww - so gooood. I got a blueberry cinnamon sugar doughnut and an apple fritter. SOO GOOOOOD! It didn't taste too heavy nor did I feel as guilty about eating it as much as I do with Krispy Kreme doughnuts. They have such nice indoor and outdoor furniture for customers and the fact that they have free wifi makes it more alluring! There are nice open windows so that the sunlight can easily stream in. Nice, cozy coffee shop right next to Shnoo. Always a plus. Anyways, this is a lot like their Seattle store, only smaller, and less crowded. Another plus. The doughnuts are honestly incomparable to Krispy Kreme simply because they're just on different dimensions. It's not like one's better than the other, it's just that Top Pot's are on the fourth, and Krispy Kreme's are on the fifth. I think that they're definitely more homey and are not as much of a potent sugar punch as Krispy Kreme's, so if you like that, then Top Pot is probably where you want to go. I'm also really, really picky about hot chocolate, but Top Pot's brew hits the spot. Another nice, quiet place to contemplate the nature of the universe, or just sit and relax. read more

Wow, super surprised at this place. How do you mess up a doughnut...? I had their salted caramel old-fashioned doughnut and a cup of coffee. Again, how do you mess that up? But they did. The doughnut was bland and the salted caramel glaze was too sweet and not rich at all. I'm not saying they profess to be about serving fresh outta the fryer doughnuts, but it that's ALL you do....get it together and serve the things warm! It just didn't taste fresh. I didn't even finish my doughnut, NOT worth the calories. The coffee....yea, wow. I added a teensy tiny bit of half and half and suddenly the cup was WHITE. So, I tasted it and it makes perfect sense. I was pretty much adding half and half to luke warm water. Hands down the weakest cup a joe I've ever had. Unreal. Luckily it was a beautiful day, so I sat outside for a bit and chatted with other doughnut shop goers and read my book. But Top Pot Doughnuts rang me up at $12 for 6 doughnuts, and let's do the math here... ... These doughnuts better be orGAZmik. The lineup: Maple (LONG as eff.), coconut, glazed old-fashioned, bavarian creme, glazed twist. Were any worth the cost? MAYBE the bavarian creme and coconut - those were exceptional. The others... were just as good as something I would have spent two thirds less on at another shop. Will I be back? Ahhh... it's Mother's Day & you're planning your own day with the kids... so how do you start it off? DOUGHNUTS!!!!! Even though we live on the Eastside, I considered going to Top Pot's other locations, but settled on the Bellevue one because I figured parking would be easiest (I had my kids in tow - ages 4.5 & 1). I ordered 6 doughnuts (SOMEone's gotta spoil me! ;) . I let my son pick out what he wanted (2 different chocolate ones) and I ordered a glazed & a raspberry for my daughter, & 2 maple variations for me. I"m sorry, I can't remember the exact clever names. And don't worry - we only ate one at the shop - the others we took home for the next morning! I have to say...YUM!!! I'm not experienced with the west coast doughnut feud (I'm from the east coast - dunkin donuts vs. krispy kreme territory), but WOW! Each kind tasted like a little bit of heaven! We all shared our doughnuts - they were large enough...though I really wanted to have mine to myself.... and my kids probably did too. But what I loved was smelling my baby daughter's hands all day long - I just could not (would not?) wash off ALL that raspberry smell! Mmmm...! Planning a trip to Seattle from Texas, I had heard about Top Pot via news stories involving a certain Seahawks football player that broke into the store while it was closed because he needed maple bars (heh heh). Anyhow, I was VERY impressed with the quality and selection of doughnuts, especially the Bavarian Creme and the Raspberry frosted old-fashioned. My wife and I ended up visiting Top Pot several times over the course of the week. Coffee was fine, nothing special, but the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Prices are a bit high compared to more mainstream chains, but the quality and portion size is bigger. I'm a large guy but two donuts was all I needed to feel full. A note on the parking: Street parking is very limited, so simply park in the garage next door and the staff at Top Pot will validate your ticket. Oh man, the donuts are good. And about double the size of your typical grocery store ones. My go-to donut is the maple bar. I randomly buy them from the grocery store when I'm craving sweets. Looking at the Top Pot maple bar, I could instantly tell I was gonna get my money's worth, since it's double the length. And when I took my first bite, I was reminded again, why someone would pay more at Top Pot - the maple bar had a perfect density, and was slightly chewy. YUM. I came here for the very first time and this place totally made my day. I ordered the Chocolate Rainbow donut and got to chatting with Kenny, the friendly guy behind the counter and he gave me the donut for free! I couldn't believe it! That's incredible customer service right there. The donut itself was incredible, and the first time welcome with a free donut has made Top Pot my new go-to spacious cafe in the downtown Bellevue area. They have a library of old books that line one side of the store and it's incredibly clean inside and they have a 12th man flag, which seals the deal. Thanks Kenny! Love this place! read more

Sorry Top Pot, but I'm going to have to pass. I've tried the raspberry ring and chocolate cake donuts and both were underwhelming. At almost $2 a pop, I was expecting something melt in your mouth spectacular. The dough was dry and I was left with a grease after taste all day! Service was so-so..not the most welcoming bunch. Sorry, but Frost in Mill Creek still takes the cake for the best donuts. To satisfy your sweet tooth in Bellevue, I'd recommend going to The French Bakery in the Element 909 building. Really annoyed b/c I came here for a business meeting to access the internet; both of us arrive, and the internet is down. We ask them to reset the server, they did, and it works for 2 minutes, then stops working. Parking is validated - only 1 hour - time goes by fast! The doughnut was good, the service was good, it was freezing cold inside, but what's up with the internet? Annoyed. I recall coming here last summer and the internet was not working then as well. Bellevue lacks good coffee shops and internet cafes, and Top Pot was a great idea - but they close at 7PM! read more

Nom Nom Nom. Those were the masticating sounds in our car - that and silence. My friends and I decided to get a variety of different doughnuts to share before we left Seattle. Boy, were we glad we did. Each one was a melt in your mouth experience of sugar and ecstasy. They were all moist and had a perfect balance of doughnut and glaze - even the jelly-filled ones were perfect down to the last bite. California definitely needs one of these places down here. This place is bogus. I am visiting again from out of state. I've heard Top Pots is all the rage. I don't remember what I ordered the first time I came here but it must not have been that good because it was forgettable. I was really hoping to like it this next time but was let down once again. Cashiers were unfriendly. My maple chocolate donut tasted like a day old crusty donut with neither a chocolatey nor maple flavor to it. I ordered a medium iced vanilla latte. It tasted really good but was child's size. Either they accidently gave me a small latte or their "mediums" are the equivalent of a Starbucks tall. The doughnuts are pretty frickin good. I hate greasy, dried out doughnuts ala Dunkin donuts and most supermarket donuts. These are cake-like, moist, and huge. They are actually quite filling, unlike most donuts that just leave you felling empty with that sticky grease aftertaste. The icing has been super yummy, and they always have something cute going on, like american flag donuts after Obama got elected, and pink heart shaped donuts for valentine's day. I don't allow myself to go there very often, too dangerous, but every once in a while when I allow myself a doughnut, it is a treat to remember. read more

Mixed feelings. Free wifi is awesome, but the signal was only one bar. I let my barista know that I'd be staying and hanging out, but she still made my drink in a paper cup. I was unhappy about that because I had forgotten my mug and I don't like the environmental impact of needless paper cups. There were clean mugs sitting all over the place including on top of the espresso machine, and some other people currently in top pot had mugs, so I was confused. The guy behind me in line noticed that had happened and apparently felt similarly, so he made a big deal about repeating that he would be staying and his order was not to go. His drink also arrived in a paper cup. My barista also seemed generally irritated... perhaps she was having a bad day. There was another barista so maybe she was the one who was making drinks in mugs. There were no visible recycling bins or compost bins. My latte was decent. However, on the drizzly day when I went, it was uncomfortably cold. I'd planned on hanging out for awhile but ended up gulping my drink and hurrying out 'cause it was freezing. However, it's not like there's a huge list of places in downtown Bellevue with free wifi that are better. I end up at the Tully's sometimes but that isn't great either. read more

Went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Heard a lot about Top Pot while I was living out-of-state. I guess they've kind of made a name for themselves while I was away. And for good reason. Dang - that's a one-ah tasty doghnut! I haven't ventured into any of their more extravagant doughnuts quite yet (next visit, next visit) but I gotta say, when you can make a simple glazed taste that good - I'm looking forward to some of the other concoctions! Oh, and did I mention these doughnuts are HUGE??!! Definitely a meal in and of themselves. And a big thumbs up to their coffee. Great brewed. And they'll even whip you up just about any espresso drink you can think of - in true Seattle fashion. Once I get my gym membership started back up, I'll be back to Top Pot. OMG, Doooooonuuuuuuts! We absolutely loved Top Pot and their fresh and creative selections after our visit to the Belltown location, we knew there was one in Bellevue and would be there on our visit and knew we would have to stop in. Wow, talk about good! So we were playing tourist in our old hometown and honestly we hadn't hit up Top Pot before our visit to the 5th Ave downtown location and were we missing out! This time we selected a 1/2 dozen, a Dopio Espresso, a drip coffee and grabbed a seat I tried the Lemon glazed old fashion and the cherry blossom variety selections and WOW, talk about donut heaven! Ironically, the parking at the Bellevue location not great, but they do validate an hour in the attached garage. read more

The doughnuts I ate (maple bar, raspberry glazed) were a lot worse than the kind of doughnuts a person would find at Albertson's, Safeway, or Top Foods. If I were to put the taste of the doughnuts in words, I felt like there wasn't any love in making the doughnuts I ate. If the doughnuts weren't bad enough, the coffee was just bad. Now, Top Pot isn't your grandmother's Winchell's, but it also isn't your indie Mom 'n Pop donut outlet. Showed up on a Saturday morning, and there was about a ten-minute wait. I like Top Pot. I know there are many fancy bacon laced, jalapeno, flavored doughnuts that some bizarre places have. I don't eat a lot of doughnuts because I am not a huge sweet food kind of person. But when I decide to eat a doughnut or get some for the work peeps I go to Top Pot. They are a crowd pleasing doughnut because they are fresh, they are consistent, and they are not psycho crazy. You know what you are getting. I don't want to bite into a doughnut that is weird. I want consistency and that is what Top Pot brings. Wow being from the North East I thought you North Westerns would not know anything about doughnuts besides Maple Bacon Bars from Voodoo donuts in Portland,until I tried Top pots doughnuts. These are probably the best I EVER had! I usually don't try old fashion because of them being really boring to eat but Top pots changes that stereotype. Just say "yes" to these pricey, yummy, joyous circles of dough! After living on the East Coast where there's a Dunkin' Donuts on every corner, it's refreshing to find someplace where they actually make their doughnuts from quality ingredients. The staff is very friendly and the barista (though he made a mistake initially) made the perfect hot chocolate - rich, smooth.... My friend had their coffee and said it was really good but not excellent. It's not a place I could frequent because they ARE pricey (the reason I gave only 4 stars) but given that it's located in the heart of downtown Bellevue, I don't think the cost will be an issue for those most local. read more

There are some harsh reviews for the donuts herein. I suppose I can understand, as Top Pot isn't really trying to please everyone. This renaissance of donuts as a work of art has elevated both the quality and price of these fried rounds of cake and yeast. The first thing you have to realize when walking into a Top Pot is that you have to be ready to subject yourself to the pain of a 9 or 10 ounce donut (that's a lot of donut, kids) that may exasperate you before you finish eating it. I can personally go through two of these without feeling sick. That's probably around 1200 calories of fun I'm guessing. If you're eating donuts (especially two donuts,) then you're probably not worried too much about how many empty calories you're eating. Just go work it out later. I'd say run 2+ 1-mile(s) for every donut. Eat 2 donuts, plan on running 4 miles. If you like filled donuts then plan on getting a little messy with these. A boston cream or any fruit-filled bismark is going to get all over you. If you eat a powdered donuts plan on cleaning yourself and the immediate area where you were eating soon thereafter. It is an unavoidable consequence of a giant donut. Top Pot uses 0 trans fat vegetable shortening and that's why their donuts don't come out as moist as other places. This is also the reason Dunkin' Donuts (ew) have that same texture. I'm used to it by now, but I can see why some people find it a little off putting. I think Top Pot wins with the technique because they're not making such a high volume so the donuts benefit from being fresher than other "healthier" donuts. Really, it's a total oxymoron and I'd go back to something that brings the fluffy/softness that donut lovers expect. There are better donuts in Seattle, but Top Pot is completely serviceable if you're near one of their many locations. At least you know what you're getting. read more

Regardless of the time, donuts are always fresh-tasting and sometimes just what the whole department needs during a busy week. Service is always great and quick and friendly. I'm not a doughnut person, but after I found Top Pot, I knew it wouldn't disappoint me! I believe I have had old fashioned doughnuts with different frosting kinds (powder sugar, lemon, raspberry frosting) and they're all wonderful. It was not as sweet as Krispy Kreme's so it doesn't give you a sick feeling after eating them. Oh and I absolutely love their coffee (especially Americano)! It's so good (cannot describe the awesomeness enough ... haha) ... I would like to try out the Ovaltine Latte next time. The only complaint I would have for them is they don't open late at night, but I know I will find some time to go there on the weekends, whenever I am craving for doughnuts. read more

Top Pot doughnuts are just okay. We ordered about 15 donuts (a combination of raised, old-fashioned and cake) and my favorite was the old-fashioned caramel and sea salt. The raised donuts cannot compare to Voodoo and the cake donuts are just okay. If you want a good cake donut go to Might O. The donuts that saved Top Pot from a complete fail was the caramel and salt (a bit too sweet though) and the raspberry (with real fruit ground into it). I wouldn't choose to come to Top Pot again unless I was craving their raspberry or caramel sea salt glazes. read more

Great doughnuts, great atmosphere, the staff was nice and playful with a good sense of humor when I started messing around with them. The coffee is also good, less sweet then Starbucks, more like coffee and not a dessert drink. Go check it out! read more
