Great skewers. Enjoyed the lamb and beef the most. Super tender and well spiced with cumin. The Chongqing small noodles had a mild spicy soup that went well with the skewers.

Delicious Chinese skewers. If you're eating a full meal, I think it adds up, but would definitely come again.

yakitori style skewers available to order. You can also order noodles and other meals. The beef skewers were my favorite as they were super tender and tasty. They also Bbq vegetables like string beans, cabbage and corn. While each skewer was a few dollars, it can add up quickly so be mindful. Service was very friendly. You do have to wait for a bit to be served. Nice local spot.

So grateful to still have options for Chinese skewers in the city! Top SF BBQ has an extensive menu with your typical dry-erase marker menu and generously offers cumin BBQ seasoning at the table if you're like me and obsessed with dousing your skewers in more flavor. price: ~$10/person recs: chicken wing skewer Portion sizes were a bit smaller than what I've seen at other places, but everything was delicious! The lamb and beef were cooked to perfection, although both were kind of small. The chicken wings were a highlight -- generously seasoned and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. For the price, the wings are actually an amazing deal and likely rival other restaurants that specialize in wings. Service is a little slow during peak business hours. It might be worth getting a main dish to share so that you're not just waiting between 1-2 skewers coming out. Would definitely come back to try more items from their chicken menu!

$50 worth of food- can someone please explain?

I ordered through uber eats- said it would get here in 50 min- I call them 1 hour later because I see the delivery guy is there but they still have not completed the order and still needs another 5 min? If they can't keep up the order then don't be on uber- turn it off until you guys are ready to actually take orders for people that order online. 45 dollars worth of food but after service fee (15) tips (7).. since we are somewhat close and they charge delivery fees? Came out over 70 dollars.. and they can't even do a couple skewers? Never will I order from here. And if you order uber eats... don't order unlesss you want to wait over 1.5 hours for your food.

Just had a great dinner here with some friends. Great environment to just hang talk and leisurely have great food. You can even ask them to add more or less or remove the dry seasoning. They're super accommodating and nice. I really liked the hot and sour noodles and the peanuts in the cucumber salad

Very authentic Skewers. Beef Skewer is even better than what i have in China

Food is great. Recommending lamb and beef skewers We have 5 people and all had great time and end up adding more food 3 times.

Calling all Chinese BBQ skewer lovers!! This is the place my boyfriend and I have been searching for since moving to SF and leaving our favorite skewer place behind. They serve BBQ skewers with spicy cumin seasoning. This is not a Japanese yakitori place. They even provide extra seasoning on the side in a shaker! Service is kind, attentive, and fast. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and so tasty. The flavor and texture is so addicting, if we won the lottery we would be eating here forever. The beef, chicken skin, and chicken wings were our favorite. We also ordered pork belly, pork buns, chives, oysters, and bacon wrapped enoki. All were fantastic. Average price per skewer is between $2.50-$4, which is pretty average compared to similar skewer spots we've been to. We think the price is worth it. Definitely coming back here (often) and I hope you get the chance to try it!

Came here with friends on a Friday night, not too busy, and we were promptly seated. Throughout the night, we tried almost all the skewers they had available. My favorites were the gizzard, beef, pork belly, and bacon wrapped enoki. The gizzard and beef, alongside many of the other skewers, tasted mostly the same cept for texture. Notes of cumin, fennel, and chili oil. The pork belly was crisp and delicious, and the bacon wrapped enoki was sweet and flavorful. The service was relatively fast, and the servers were attentive and very accommodating. We ended up ordering way too much, and the check was pricier than any of us anticipated, haha. Would recommend checking it out if you're in the mood for some yummy skewers

    Bacon covered enoki

The service was fast but the food is only decent, so in the end it wasn't really worth the price. Got a variety of dishes that ended up costing $52 per person by the end of the night. I feel like there's better places to get amazing skewers, because most of these weren't memorable. Tried out beef, lamb, mantou, bacon covered enoki, potatoes, chicken feet, pork belly, squid, eggplant, and pork brains. The best were the pork belly, enoki, and eggplant. The pork belly and enoki had enough rendered fat to make it a flavorful bite. And the eggplant was very garlicky and flavorful. But I'm offended that it's $3 for a skewer of a shaved piece of potato when it's the same price for a meat option. Although they provide extra spice seasoning on the side, it's not spicy at all. The food quality for the price just doesn't seem worth it for a revisit unless it's solely for the pork belly or garlic eggplant.

    Food we ordered!

So authentic northern Chinese bbq!!! The service was amazing and accommodating to my big group, which consists of four Beijinger dying to have a taste of home. Quoting one of them: "比国内的中餐好吃"

Top SF

Beef Skewers, Chicken Gristle Skewer, and Lamb Skewer

We used to drive to Cupertino or Fremont to get Chinese skewers, but this is the best Chinese BBQ we have had so far in Bay areas. Service was low because they only had one waiter on busy Saturday night. However, this wont stop us from coming back.

Meat is excellently seasoned and smoked to perfection, especially the brisket which just melts in the mouth. The tangy and sweet barbecue sauce really adds an extra kick, though it's not entirely necessary since the seasoning is done so well. Still, I practically drank it. The pickles are also delicious. They have a light sweetness to them, which compliments everything else really nicely. The brisket was my favorite. The ribs were great, but the brisket was just so good it shone above all else. The brisket bao is also great (I'm Chinese, so I'm really picky about bao). Love the no-tipping policy, though it confused me at the time. They even gave a little extra brisket and a whole extra rib! So nice! Staff are friendly and welcoming. Only downside perhaps is limited seating if you want to eat there, but I went during the middle of a weekday and there were unclaimed tables available outside. From what I understand, most patrons take their orders to go. Either way, you'll love it!

But this brisket bao retains the sweetness of the traditional bao but dials it back a bit and introduces a Smokey and savory meat filling. The smokiness is what truly distinguishes itself from the classic pork bun. Located on the ground floor of the infamous leaning Milennium Tower in San Francisco's Financial District, INTERNATIONAL Smoke was Michael Mina's fine dining barbecue restaurant collaboration with multi-hyphenate entrepreneur Ayesha Curry. I visited this place once, for a small dinner party hosted by Charles Schwab on Tuesday, October 14, 2024. We arrived shortly after 6:35 PM. The atmosphere was modern, but casual and hip, funky with exposed metal accents popping through concrete floors and columns. Evidently, the fully booked days were behind them - despite the place's popularity as a fun, lively eatery with the occasional celebrity spotting, the restaurant was fairly quiet that night and not a single person was at the bar. We were seated in the spacious Atrium with floor to ceiling windows. INTERNATIONAL Smoke was not your traditional barbecue restaurant. They presented a globally-inspired grill-centric carte inspired by the rich heritages of the co-founders. The globetrotting meat dishes highlighted diverse international flame-cooking and smoking traditions. The ambitiously broad menu intended to take diners on a culinary journey around the world, but, instead, delivered a disjointed and scattered passport. Similar to the food offerings, INTERNATIONAL Smoke's drink catalogue featured some rotating crafted cocktails that leaned into global flavours, such as KUNG FU PANDAN ($18) and MIDNIGHT IN OAXACA ($20). Boozy beverages like TICKLE ME PINK ($19), NEGRONI ($19), and the ESPRESSO MARTINI ($20) were enjoyed by some of my tablemates. A couple of us stuck to the ZERO PROOF potables like the BUZZ FREE BEE ($15) and RASPBERRY FIELDS ($12) of which the latter I found to be delightful. Cool ice cubes, too! Below are a few of the dishes that we ordered: DOUBLE DUCK WINGS ($28) - I don't eat duck, but my dining mates raved over the tender mango-habanero glazed meat that was falling off the bones. BLACK TRUFFLE CAESAR ($20) - This was a substantial serving, and the sweet onion crema, fried garlic, and truffle vinaigrette all worked well together. ROASTED CAULIFLOWER ($18) - Meh. Perhaps my prejudice against raisins and tehina got in the way of enjoying this STARTER. BLISTERED SHISHITO PEPPERS ($16) - There was not a single blister on any of the peppers, so, unfortunately, the expected smoky, charred flavour was completely absent. MISO YAKI BLACK COD ($48) - This order came with two considerable sized filets of the velvety soft and flaky fish served atop mild shishito peppers sitting in a light ginger dashi broth. It could have just been me, but one of the slices looked a bit undercooked. DUNGENESS CRAB GARLIC NOODLES ($45) - Joanna went with this rich, buttery dish of noodles tossed with wood ear mushrooms, generous portions of Dungeness crab, and heavily garlicked. It was hearty, but I didn't see any bok choy mixed in there, which would have disappointed me if I were Joanna. PERI PERI HALF CHICKEN ($39) - Dustin ordered this dish. The poultry appeared to be well marinated, so I can only assume that the deep, fiery acidic flavour with the pronounced smoky element came through in each bite. Surprisingly, no rants nor raves on this from Dustin...who is usually very opinionated. PORK BELLY FRIED RICE ($17) - Not the worst, but not the best. For the small bowl, this was a major rip off. FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS ($15) - Wow, for the price, this should have knocked our socks off, but was pretty lackluster. 8 OZ. CENTER CUT FILET MIGNON ($68) - I ordered this steak plate. The meat was cooked perfectly medium rare, but the taste of the red wine demi and the stuffed portobello mushroom were unremarkable. LEMON OLIVE OIL CAKE ($14) - This did not stray far from the standard olive oil cake, just a touch of lemon added to the cake's flavour + the pluot garnishes. Nothing standout about this, unintriguing. "SMOKED" CHOCOLATE S'MORES ($14) - Not your typical s'mores, more of an elevated take on the campfire classic with a valrhona molten cake sitting atop brûléed marshmallow fluff with a side of graham cracker crumble and a scoop of ice cream. CINNAMON CHURROS ($13) - The accompanying blueberry cheesecake and meyer lemon curd dips were the sole unique elements of this sugar-dusted fried pastry dessert. Without them, this plate would have been underwhelming. Mediocre food at high-end prices aside, table service was friendly. What was all the hype over INTERNATIONAL Smoke? My true guess is that the affiliation with Steph Curry and his basketball friends who would pop in were the big draw...because even with all of the smoking, this place had no fire.
