Had a yummy meal at this place. The meal comes with a complimentary ice cream scoop of ice cream so make sure to get it. Service is quick. The place is clean, just really smoky. They leave the doors open to air it out so it's pretty cold in winter. So bring a jacket. Regardless I enjoyed my time here.

These are all their own features page for dogs allowed and keep in mind that they say there is no outside patio while dogs are allowed.

Just had a horrible experience here where we brought our dog and they wouldn't even serve us. I've never left a review before, but this is a restaurant that I called the first time we went and were told it was dogs allowed. If we were to dine in today, it would probably be the 4th time we ate with our dog but all of the sudden the server told us that dogs are not allowed even though the yelp website specifically says they are dog allowed. On top of that, the server told us that sometimes they let people with dogs sit at a corner table when there were multiple corner tables available with no one seated near those tables.

I've been coming to this spot since college (back when it was still Carbon Grill) and I'm so happy to see that even 6+ years later, Zajang Grill still carries elements of our favorite KBBQ place. My brother and I used to come here once a week, and even though we both live further down the Peninsula now, we still make the trek at least once a month because it's that good. Ordering is super easy (just scan the QR code on your phone), and the meat quality is consistently amazing. They have a really good selection of your typical KBBQ meats (all-you-can-eat for a great price) and everything is always fresh and flavorful. What really makes it for me is that green cilantro mayo sauce. I always ask for an extra bowl because I'm obsessed. The river prawns are also a must-order! The staff is always friendly, the service is quick, and the whole experience feels effortless. Definitely one of my favorite KBBQ spots in SF, worth every drive up!

Keep in mind you get only 90 minutes like most AYCE BBQ spots, so I always come in with a plan to min-max! But seriously, this place is great and it feels like a sports bar with TVs all around and plenty of drinks ready to go. The food is fresh, and the ordering is super easy. Just scan the QR code, and up to 6 people in your party can stack in their orders straight from the menu. Food comes out quickly, grill plates are changed consistently throughout the meal, and the water jug filled without even asking. This place is perfect for pairs to groups of four, but once you go past that it gets super challenging to cook the stack of meat over just one cooking station. We had 6 in our party, so I took charge of the grill station myself to keep the pace flowing. Definitely a fun spot to hang out with friends over food and drinks. The only thing I would love to see is a stronger cooked menu. More appetizer and soup options would enhance the dining experience.

10/10 -- it's an experience and a challenge all in one. You pay a flat rate and get 90 minutes to grill to your heart's desire. The only extra charge is for leftovers, so you can really eat as much as you want here. Each table has its own grilling area, giving you your own space to cook and enjoy the experience. Would love to come again.

4.5 stars My friends and I recently checked out Zajang Grill and had a phenomebal time. We were party of 20 and service was absolutely impeccable. We ordered so many items off of the menu and everything was really good. Some of my favorite items were the beef kalbi, Thai tea, pork belly and the chicken bites. The staff was very friendly and they kept on coming by to change our grill and also made sure that we didn't leave hungry. The restaurant was super busy on a Sunday night but the staff always checked up on us to make sure that we had plenty of food for our entire party. Dinner is around $40 a person with a 90-minute time limit. But that is more than enough to get your money's worth. I'm usually done after 2 or 3 rounds lol. I left feeling very full but satisfied and I would totally come back. Also, free parking all day on Sundays!

We loved our experience at Zajang!! The all-you-can-eat food was all delicious, the atmosphere fresh (not too smoky; the ventilation was good), the water jug was always filled, and the grill consistently replaced when burnt. I do wish that they had japchae, but honestly other than that, it was a wonderful and fulfilling experience. Our favorite dishes include the beef bulgogi, the cheese corn, the pickled radish, the fish cakes, the enoki wrapped in bacon, the asparagus and zucchini, the chicken tenders, and the dumplings. The menu interface was great, too; the ordering page (online, QR code-scanned) tracks what others are ordering at the same time so it's very streamlined and easy to monitor, without overlapping requests and accidental double-orders. And it also tells you your history of what you've ordered in total!

I enjoyed the grill experience here! Came on a Saturday evening of a long weekend and there was a small wait. They have a solid selection of meats, and the river prawns were nice for sure. It's pretty casual inside -- a little slow on the day we went but overall good addition to the Richmond!

Brought my parents here for a Mother's Day lunch because my mom had been craving Korean BBQ. Service was very attentive and even though it was empty inside when we were seated for our reservation, the place filled up pretty quickly for lunch. A good amount of space in between the tables made for a comfortable eating experience. Can't beat all you can eat!

Went to Zajang Grill with our family and it did not disappoint us. The meat quality was solid and everything tasted really fresh. The staff were super attentive too -- they came by quick to serve and refill our water. The beef short ribs was probably my favorite. Also appreciated that the place felt clean and not overly smoky like some KBBQ spots can get. Only small downside was that it got pretty busy, so there was a bit of a wait, but once we sat down the service moved quickly. Overall a really good spot if you're craving Korean BBQ. I'd definitely come back. All of the staff were really nice and polite. Shout out to one of our servers, Caleb!!! :)

The decoration here is fun with red color. Lot of soju selections. The food here is terrific. They have many selection of the dipping sauces that will fit your taste buds. They offer Thai style seafood aside as well. Amazing! Services were really great. Richard and Sun are our waiters. Both of them were so nice had Sevices minded. They came with smiling serving us our meat. After meal, they brought out cookie and cream ice cream for us. Tastes so good, not sweet but so creamy. Richard came to check on us and offered another round of ice cream. He was so kind to offer that. Our bellies are happy with their hospitality. Definitely, we will be back.

Arrived at Zajang grill around 830 pm on a Friday evening and the waitlist was long. My party of 2 waited about 45 minutes but I would say it was worth it, although the smells of everyone's meals made me sooo hungry while waiting. It was a nice treat that we were able to order beer and soju while waiting from the bar area. Zajang has a good variety of items and everything tasted good, honestly, there was nothing I didn't like. My favorites would have to be the beef belly, steamed egg, and marinated short ribs. The pricing is reasonable, especially for an all you can eat spot. The staff were polite and engaged throughout our time there and even offered us ice cream to and our meal. Lastly, one small thing that I appreciated is that you have to order each banchan individually, instead of them already being set on their table like many other Korean spots, I'm here for anything that promotes less food waste. This is my second time here and I'd definitely return again.

Tried out Zajang Grill with a group of 6, I hadn't gone to KBBQ in quite some time so I was excited to eat here. We had a reservation and were seated while we were waiting for the rest of our party. Service was pretty good, we had the AYCE 90-minute time limit and online ordering system explained to us when we sat down. We tried all the different types of meats and flavorings they had, and I found the quality really varied. Of the proteins, we only really liked the beef belly, bbq pork, and river prawns, though you are limited to 2 river prawns per person. The brisket and bulgogi were too lean and quite chewy, and nothing stood out about the pork belly. The banchan, while varied, were overall disappointing - kimchi was old and bean sprouts lacked flavor. I did enjoy the pickled radish, which was sliced into thin circles and went well with the richer meats. The sauces were kinda weird, they had a ssamjang, light soy, and ranch?? I found the ranch so off-putting lol. Overall, the food itself is a 3/5, but with the solid service, I'll round it up to 4/5. If I ever came again I would just stick to the meats I liked this time.

Can 1 person do all you can eat?

Yes, there were several solo diners when I was there. Be careful when ordering, the portions are huge!

What's the pricing for the AYCE now? The menus uploaded say $41 but a recent review said it was $55.

Confirmed with an employee, it is currently $41.

Is it AYCE only or can we order a la carte?

AYCE only, and the leftovers may be charged and cannot be taken out/packed away.

Are there tables for just two?

They will seat 2 people on the table ! They're very very nice friendly staffs and owner there :)

Is it all you can eat?

    Yes, it is.

    Do they serve beer?

Yes they do. They have beer, soju and wine

Do you take reservation or first come first serve?

They mostly do first come first serve but take reservation for 10 people or more.

Does this place allow one person party?

    Yes

What kind of drinks are available? Are they included?

Hi Kevin! We currently serve soft drinks (Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke), as well as beer and soju. However drinks are not included in the food price but need to be purchased separately.

What's the age limit for kids' pricing?

Hi Jennifer, good question! Kids pricing is offered for anyone 13 years old or younger :)

Once you step through the doors, however, you're greeted by a space that feels both cozy and contemporary, with an effortlessly stylish atmosphere. Even the restroom was thoughtfully designed and remarkably comfortable--a small detail, but one that speaks to the restaurant's overall attention to detail. We began with the Uni Scallop Toast and Mulhwe as appetizers. As someone who is typically not a fan of uni due to its pronounced brininess, I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed the toast. The bright citrus sauce balanced the richness of the uni beautifully, while the contrasting textures from the crisp toast and delicate scallop created a harmonious bite. The scallop also helped mellow the stronger oceanic notes of the uni. It was a creative and memorable dish unlike anything I've had before. The Mulhwe, a Korean-style fish salad, was dressed in a refreshing apple vinaigrette that gave it a light, summery citrus character. The fish itself had a pleasantly chewy texture--firmer than salmon--with no trace of fishiness. While enjoyable, it didn't leave quite the same impression as the uni toast and was my least favorite dish of the evening. For our entrées, we ordered the Galbi Steak and Pork Jowl Bossam. Both dishes showcased exceptional execution. The meats were cooked perfectly, but what stood out even more was the precision in preparation. The steak was expertly sliced and incredibly tender--so much so that even with braces, it was effortless to enjoy. The pork jowl achieved an ideal balance between lean meat and luscious fat, creating a rich yet satisfying bite. We enjoyed the meal so much that dessert was non-negotiable. The Matcha Tiramisu was a creative interpretation of the classic. A dome of mascarpone cheese encased ladyfinger biscuits at its center, accompanied by a vibrant matcha ganache sauce. The dessert leaned far less sweet than traditional tiramisu, allowing the earthy matcha and creamy mascarpone flavors to shine. It was elegant, balanced, and a wonderful way to end the meal. Lastly, the service was outstanding. Our server was soft-spoken, patient, and genuinely attentive throughout the evening, making the experience feel warm and welcoming. Considering the quality of the food, thoughtful presentation, ambiance, and service, I found the pricing to be completely justified. As a pleasant surprise, I later learned that Bansang is part of the same restaurant group behind Daeho--a detail that certainly explains the level of quality we experienced.

The toast, scallops, and uni were all served at the same temperature, and the sauce was barely noticeable, adding little to the dish. A contrast in temperature, texture, or a more pronounced sauce would have made it much more enjoyable. The Scallop & Shrimp Salad was overly sweet, which overpowered the delicate flavors of the seafood. The Chicken Wings were decent, but at 4 wings for $18, they felt overpriced. The Mushroom Silk Tofu was beautifully presented and visually appealing. The Black Cod was cooked perfectly--moist, tender, and flaky. However, while the fish itself was excellent, the sauce was forgettable and didn't leave a lasting impression or elevate the dish. Overall, the food was mediocre. While each dish had potential, the flavors often felt disconnected and lacked harmony. Combined with the expensive price point, the overall dining experience didn't justify the cost. The ambiance is lovely, but I left hoping for a more memorable meal. Wouldn't come back.

Granted we were a bit late for our reservation, we ended up having to wait another 30-40 mins. The place (2nd floor) is small & awkward. You can also feel whenever the table next to us got up and stomped/yelled/moved in their chairs-- which was really often. The basic AYCE menu is fairly limited-- esp for the side options. The marinated meats were pretty good as was the tteokbokki. Side & meat portions were alright, but the kicker is having to flag down staff to make sure they put in the order & bring it out. We asked for japchae about 5 times before it actually reached our table towards the end of our meal. The server/manager also told us that he had accidentally brought out 2 bottles of soju for us and that he'd COMP 1 bottle. We didnt notice that he had actually charged us for 2 and comped/subtracted a "third" one. So none were really comped at all. I just realized after we paid and that felt really sketchy. (4 of 5) Our orders from their Lunch Special: Vegetable Deluxe: A great selection of vegetables, though they're mostly semi-done to near raw. The wontons were really good though. (3 of 5) Broccoli Chicken: The chicken pieces are tender and the broccoli in this dish is cooked well. (4.5 of 5) Braised Tofu: This is my top dish. It's flavour-packed in a savoury, aromatic sauce. The tender, chewy texture acts like a sponge, absorbing the deeply flavourful sauce. Superb! (5 of 5)

The wait for the dish was almost 25 mins but all worth it !The complimentary soup and banchan were huge and alright. The servers know what they were doing but one minor thing about my experience was that the waitress served a really really hot dish at her convenience and I had to move it to the center for sharing. Since they're busy they expect you to finish your meal, pay and go.

This is my wife's favorite SF Korean restaurant, so I am glad that she was able to join me on this trip. Actually, my guest was the one that requested Korean today. LOL. Today, my guest ordered the following: Soft Tofu Soup - Complimentary. Now this has the most flavor of all the dishes. It also came out piping hot, see picture. Seafood Pancake - Overall good, I appreciate the precut slices, thanks. Makes eating and dividing easier. Marinated Chicken - Decent portions, tender, etc. But with minimum flavor. Broiled Fish, Broiled Mackerel - My guest loves fish, but she did not eat too much of this. So more food to bring back to the house for her. Stir-Fried Vermicelli - Good, but you can almost not mess this up. Actually, I make a pretty good Japchae. :) Banchan - 9 options; good variety and with decent to generous portions. Actually, all the dishes came out steaming, piping hot, and fresh. If you do not like spicy food, this is the place for you. Most, if not all, dishes including the banchan are not spicy. Atmosphere - Good size local restaurant. Table or booth seating. Private room in the back available. Hibachi style dining available. 2 clean bathrooms. See picture. Open 5 days a week from 11am to 8pm or 9pm, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Street parking, it was not too bad. I got a space a few blocks away. Service - 3 stars. The owner is typically friendly but did not greet us today?!?! One waitress was extremely more professional than the other. I think the other waitress was in a bad mood?!?! It was not easy asking for stuff, tea refills, water, utensils, more banchan, etc. Price - $120 + tip. Reasonably priced for Korean food, especially because my guest will get another meal out of it from all our leftovers. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since...??? I have been coming here for 20+ years. Maybe 30+ years...? Or am I outdating myself...
