***UPDATE*** So I went back because it's open early on Saturday mornings, close by and I had literally tried every nail shop in the area with okay results. Also, I remembered they were the only nail shop where my polish (not gel) lasted up to a week! I got in & out quick, they were very nice, and my nails looked FABULOUS! They have mani/pedi combo that is only $35, use quality products, and DO have some great techs. They have won the too spot once again! Yay!!! read more

Let me preface this -- I'm super particular when it comes to my nails. I like what I like and I know what I like. Top Ten Nails is cute and quaint; very inviting. The atmosphere is nice. The staff is friendly. There is a bit of a language barrier issue but that's minute. The issue lies in the great potential and it falling VERY short of it. I came in with a party and we picked our colors. I was getting a gel manicure and was one of the first to be worked on. Somehow, I ended up being the last person to finish. For those who aren't aware, the gel manicure requires no more than two coats of the color, the base coat, and the finishing coat. On the 4th coat of color, my nail tech found that my color was not as dark as she wanted and proceeded to pick another color to finish my manicure in. Why?!? I DON'T KNOW!!! Another member of my party caught her doing so and put her in her place...I was beyond belief and wanted to leave. I left alright. What I left with was a paid for mess of a manicure with polish all over my cuticles and uneven nails due to the massive amount of polish on my nails. I felt horribly of the time spent in this salon but was extremely unhappy with the manicure. We left and very thankfully, the gentleman I spoke to from Top Ten Nails was apologetic and offered to have my nails redone the following day. The next day, the process of removing the gel polish took two different nail techs and almost thirty minutes of soaking, buffing, and scraping (mind you, it normally takes 10 minutes, max). I was thankful that it was a different tech than from the day prior, or so I thought. As soon as the polish was finally removed, my nail tech from the prior day was back (shucks). I inquired about having someone else redo the nails but to no avail. Everyone else was occupied (makes you wonder why mine was super free)! Ms. Do No Wrong advised that because I picked a lighter color, many coats were needed. To fix this issue, I was told to choose a darker color (FYI, I had grey originally and then chose a plum purple). Lo and behold, the darker color did not make anything better. The manicure was just as bad. If not, worse. I really tried. I was patient, I didn't cause a scene. I just wanted to be done. I called on a Saturday afternoon and they were so nice over the Phone. I asked if they offered nexgen nails she said yes and told me the price. Which was great compared to other salons prices! She said are you coming now I said yes and she said come on then we will see you soon! Very friendly in a fun way. When I walked in I was greeted by a man who welcomed me and asked me what I would like. Told him and he had a sense of humor and said I was in luck I was next up for my nails. They were fairly busy for a Saturday and I got right in! I saw Kim who right away was so nice and pleasant! She has a great personality and was giving me tips and advice about my nail care what what would be best. She's the professional so I agreed. She informed me there is an additional charge to things, told me the tips would be a charge and then also offered to do my cuticles to enhance the nails and of corse make them look better. I accepted and was very very happy with the outcome! Kim pays attention to the details of the nails and She also informed me of every charge. If the service is great I have no problem spending the money! Just hearing the fun conversations between the employees and their regulars has me wanting to go back. I came here with my bridal party to get our nails done for my wedding. The girl doing my fingernails left the powder streaky and cloudy. It was the worst manicure I have ever had. The owner asked her to redo my nails but by this time, she had already bruised the nail beds to a dark purple and the only way to cover it up was to get fake nails. On top of that, she cut every single one of my fingers deeply at the cuticles and now, I will be walking down the aisle with wounded fingers. I have never been in physical pain during a manicure. I went here to get a mani pedi for my prom. In the process of getting my pedicure, at the base of my big toe, I got a painful cut. Besides getting my toe cut, which by the way still hurts a great deal, the manicure was not anything special either. I'm very disappointed as the cost was right- $35 for a mani pedi. The staff here are all very friendly and welcoming. We do not live nearby but try to come here when we can. The ladies do a very thorough job with the pedicures, especially on my very dry, over worked, over due feet. I generally try to avoid nail salons due to the toxic chemicals and fear of uncleanliness. I'm also more of a granola girl than a girly girl. But a few times a year I will venture into one for some professional help and for special occasions. This time was for both. I got the basic mani/pedi. They did a great job and were very nice. I would recommend this place to a friend. The only thing I would change for next time is to sit in the black chairs that have the head/neck pillow. I've been going to this nail salon for well over 10 years. My favorite place in DFW. They have staff that have worked here as long as I've been coming. Perfect balance of cleanliness and extreme competence without the fru fru of some other salons. Well priced too! Kim is my nail guru! She's absolutely the best . She's first introduced me to nexgen and boy was I impressed . She's very genuine. She helps pick the beautiful colors for me also. Not to mention the color choice they have is more than you can almost handle it's every girls hardest decision but kim makes it easy. Kim is the BEST!! She's been doing my nails for about 6 years now, and they ALWAYS look terrific. I get lots of compliments on them, and what pleases me most is that many people think they're my real nails - but they're acrylics. I got my nails done at this place last night and they have a really nice staff and my nails looked beautiful! However, the lady that works there named Kim is extremely rude. She attacked another stylist that works there, got in her face, and then started screaming profanities across the store at her even in English so that everyone could hear her! We spent well over 300 dollars at this establishment and this lady was allowed to act up like that. That reflects badly on the establishment itself because I would never allow someone that hot headed to work for me. And all the manager had to say was girls stop! He didn't do anything and then after a while, he walked outside and smoked a cigarette. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU RUN A BUSINESS! Especially when there are clients in the establishment at the time spending over 300 dollars. I will never go back here because I felt uncomfortable and I wasn't even getting yelled at. I absolutely love this nail salon! I am the type of person who wants to stay committed to a salon and not hop from salon to salon and this place has definitely given my nail beds a home. I had previously gone to a salon near my house for over a year, but due to poor management and a lack of appreciation for my service, I decided to leave. My mother has been going to Rose for all of my life and I recently began going to Kevin at this salon. Going to this shop has been a wonderful experience. I never have problems making an appointment and if they are running late they always make proper accommodations. When I walk in both management as well as Kevin greet me by name and are always so friendly. Kevin always asks how I am and how my family is and remembers the things I told him six months ago. I came here based on the recommendation of someone, along with relatively good reviews on Yelp. It was not impressive at all. The staff was friendly, and it was inexpensive, but it the quality of the work was poor. I got a manicure, and the polish (OPI) was streaky and bubbled on my thumb nail. I went with a friend of mine, and the polish that she chose was so old that there was clumps in it, and they weren't able to paint her nails- and they didn't have a comparable color. While we were in there a woman came in who'd had a gel manicure less than a week before and she asked to speak to the manager because three of her nails were already starting to chip. They were accommodating and assisted her right away, but that went along with the theme of poor workmanship. I will not lie they do better when they are just doing mani and Pedi. I'm not sure if they're known for doing acrylic. I went to get my nails done this one lady told me I should do dip then told me if I wanted to use acrylic. It was my first time ever doing both and the lady that did them wasn't fully focused. I kept flinching because it hurt when she used the filer but she kept telling me to stop moving. She stayed on the phone for a good 10 minutes before starting my nails. One of my nails already broke a few days in I was a bit mad. 2 weeks in the acrylic broke in my nail and the dip was attached to my skin. I had to rip it off because every time I hit it hurt and would stop bleeding. People told me that they definitely didn't do it right and that made me mad. I noticed my real nails weren't even cut down before applying the acrylic. I didn't get a mani they just worked on my nails I got a Pedi and the total was $82. The nail polish on my toes wasn't painted evenly as well. As a first time experience with false nails, I don't recommend getting acrylic here. read more

I tried this salon a few months back and did not like all the add ons and extras - everything seems extra. So I tried it again yesterday for a regular manicure. Hot oil is $3 extra- I passed. Not sure if I've ever had a worse manicure. It started chipping this morning and in the light I can see that the second coat was not painted on the entire nail but more or less covers most of the nail if you do not look to closely. I asked to use the fan to dry my nails and was shuffled off to a dryer light and left on my own - no effort to help me access keys or credit card w wet nails. Was kind of a mess but lesson learned. I work in an office environment so I am not hard on my nails. I went there Sunday (It's Tuesday today) and this was my first time. I got helped right away which was a plus. And the cup of wine was a plus. I got this dainty petite lady who was 3 chairs in on the left. I didn't catch her name. Normally I get french but this time I just wanted a simple acrylic with color. I chose a sexy red color. I am so bummed at how they turned out. She sprayed something on my nails before she added the tips. She said be careful when you get home because they will fall off. Really? Right off the bat I knew i chose a bad place. I've never had anything sprayed on my nails before. I also used to work retail and never had them break or "fall off" anyhoo... She also didn't get the acrylic up high enough on my nails so it looks like I will need a fill in a few days. She did not use the drill to get the acrylic from under my nails so i have lumps under my nails. i can't put my hands in my hair because it gets caught in it. Remember that sexy red polish I talked about... It ended up on my skin and she didn't get all of it off. it's also worn off on the bottom of my nails already. i just want to cry looking at my nails. so many people came in there while i was there but they all got pedis. maybe i should have just done that. Lastly when I moved over to the dryer table she didn't spray any drying spray on there, i'm used to having that done. Also I asked if she could bring my cup of wine over that i didn't grab and she proceeds to pour me another cup with about an inch of wine in it and brings it to me and says no more. ??? Really?
