With Lucky Elephant around the courner, this place need s to excel to compete. Under the new owners, it does not compete. If you notice, you wll never see Thais here. They are all at Lucky elephant. Thier hours of operation have become spotty, the ownership is in dispute. THe new cooks are inept at food preparation. You are much better served in taking your dining dollar to Lucky Elephant. One of the better Thai restaurants in San Dimas. Oddly enough, there are a lot of Thai restaurants in the La Verne/San Dimas area. I've tried most of them and narrowed it down to two that I really like. Top Thai is one of them and I like how they accommodate for their patrons. I often send in my order through yelp and come in and pick it up. Every time its ready to go. So far everything I've ordered here has been excellent. They have a good kick in spice in some of their noodle dishes. Most of the other places in the area, make they're meals very bland. Thai should be an expense of exotic flavors, luckily this place does it right. My only complaint would be that the meals feel a little small, but that's just personal preference. One of the better places, I would definitely say don't waste your time with other places and head on over here. read more

I will ecstatically state that this is the best Thai restaurant in the area. I have never been disappointed when ordering anything there. When you combine the quality of the food with the reasonable prices you have a recipe for success. I almost always order the Pad Thai, and I know that is such a basic/generic order. I feel if a Thai restaurant can't get Pat Thai right what can they do right, and they are consistently good at making this. Pad Thai is the poor man's food in Thailand and that may make some snobs look down on it. I argue that the best food in the world is made from the poor. Pizza, hamburgers, sausages are all come from very humble origins. I don't need something extremely exotic to prove I know how to eat. You can keep the lizard eyeballs to yourselves. The cashew nut chicken rocks! Especially with their brown rice. My wife tells me their curry is also pretty darn good. I rarely rate restaurants based on decor or service, because I think it is always about the food. But the service there is pretty good, and I am glad there is a Thai restaurant that actually has free refills. The decor is good enough, and they keep the place clean. Have fun! read more

Great Thai food! We had the chicken satay, Pad Thai and the Panaeng (chicken in a coconut and red curry sauce.) The Panaeng is wonderful it is a great comfort food. My favorite Thai in San Dimas. forget the other one...this is the one. I love their appetizers, egg rolls, chicken satay and steamed dumplings. I can live on those alone. I haven't had anything on the menu I didn't like. my favorite of course is their fried rice and pad Thai. I love Top Thai. I went randomly because a friend recommend it and I keep going back. Between a friend and I we will pack down the: seafood soup, pineapple rice with shrimp, pad thai, and green curry. I'd recommend all of these! We were greeted by a kind woman. As she attempted to take our order, a rather impatient man swooped in behind her, overheard our order, took the menus from her, and walked away. Our water was delicious. Beyond it, I have nothing positive to say about the food. The chicken pad thai tasted and smelled like dog food, the sauce on the fried wontons tasted like furniture polish, the garlic pepper chicken had no flavor, and the salad dressing tasted like a runny thousand island dressing. We had the option to drive a little further for Siam Palace in Azusa, but I thought this was more convenient for a quick lunch in our town. We should have opted for the drive. I have been to Top Thai twice in the last 2 weeks. It is sooo GOOD~! Both times I had Vegetarian Pad Kee Mao and BOTH times it was very tasty. The dish was full of veggies... so many different types: broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, green beans, bok choy, mini corn, onions, peppers, etc. All of it was cooked perfectly, still crunchy & full of natural its natural flavors. The sauce wasn't too overpowering either. I enjoyed that they had just as much veggies as the noodles. Can't wait to try other dishes. :) read more

My partner and I spend every Friday night checking out Thai restaurants, particularly in Thai Town and Northeast LA. He recently moved a few blocks from Top Thai and begged me to go. I was reluctant at first since (honestly) it's San Dimas and it's in downtown San Dimas at that. The place was empty on a weekend at 6pm when we entered. Was I scared? Definitely. The staff were welcoming and very attentive. We ordered the chicken with jungle curry, pad thai, and brown rice. While waiting, our sodas were served and to our surprise, they were huge glasses filled with fountain soda. What? With unlimited refills?! Then, my partner requested the chili sauce and chilis in fish sauce on the side. He was pleasantly surprised as the chilis in fish sauce were fresh. Our order came out quickly and we were again pleasantly surprised. The chicken in jungle curry was awesome and the pad thai was legit. The Thai brown rice serving was generous and cooked perfectly. The prices are a few dollar more than the usual run of the mill but worth it. The service, ambiance, and menu selection are above average and worth checking out. I ended up having to doctor up my pad thai with more chili and and spices after getting my order. Now, it's not that I don't think they make good Thai food. I've eaten food from Top Thai twice already. Both times the food was ordered to go. As per my usual custom, I like to try each Thai food restaurant's Thai fried rice and Pad Thai. I consider those two dishes standard fare amongst Thai establishments and I judge them by how they pull of their Fried Rice and Pad Thai. For vegetarians, they are willing to accommodate and substitute any meat with tofu if you would like -- which is nice. You can order your tofu fried or steamed. However, that's as far as it goes. There are no fake/imitation meats. If you are ordering a number of dishes with tofu, it can get a bit redundant. Otherwise the flavors are good. The food is cooked hot. And the service is acceptable. I would definitely also recommend the fresh, young coconut whether you are dining in or to go. If you order to go, they will drain the coconut juice and place it in a cup and give you the coconut; later, you can pour the juice back into the coconut if you are feeling festive and islandy. read more

Not the friendliest bunch you've ever come across so I suppose its a good thing I don't go there to discuss the weather then. Also its a toss up on whether you will receive your food in 10 minutes or 3 hours... but once I get that yumminess its on! I'm not a Thai food master so I don't go for a lot of the deep cuts per se. The pad see ew is so good that I almost pull a fish and manage to eat myself to death. Pad Thai is equally fantastic and has such great flavor! Yellow curry is also really, really good. Got the Shrimp pad thai lunch special with thai tea and chicken satay apetizer. It was all very good. The lunch special came Tom yum soup. I was worried it would be too spicy, but it had a slightly spicy, sour flavor that I enjoyed. Our appetizer was the satay chicken with a peanut sauce. It was just okay; not bad, but not something I'd order again as it was a bit bland. The thai tea was quite good. Not too sweet and very flavorful. The Shrimp pad thai was great. It started out too sweet, but my friend (he's half thai) recommended I add some lime and dry red pepper. Squeezed out the whole lime wedge and used a little pepper (I don't like overly spicy food), and it was perfect. I guess that's why they bring out a tray of spices, so everyone can enjoy it the way they want it. Staff was polite, friendly, and attentive. Though from her reaction to what was on CNN, I wouldn't go in there with a "Trump supporter" shirt on. Just had lunch here. I thought it had a good ambience. The people are nice and quick to your service. My husband had the orange chicken and I had the Pad Thai. It came with an option of salad or soup. We both chose salad. I thought the salad was delish but my main entree was too sweet. And we had asked for medium spicy but was not spicy at all. The Thai tea was tasty but too strong. I hope I can come back and enjoy a meal that is less sweet. read more

I recently ordered the phad thai, salmon pa-nang, bbq chicken (so flavorful!), and green beans and mushroom in garlic sauce (nice deep flavor). I was very satisfied with my choices. Over the past few years I've been here 4-5 times and ALWAYS the food and service is great. I've had 2 different servers (both male) and they couldn't be more attentive and friendly. The food is delicious, the portions generous. The restaurant itself is clean and you can tell they've gone out of their way to make their bathroom appealing and homey. They bag your leftovers for you, which is just extra nice. I'm so glad they've survived the turmoil of 2020. read more

I don't know why I haven't written them a review until now but this restaurant has the best Thai food in the area. I've been to several other Thai restaurants but I always hate how oily the food looks and tastes. We always get the Tom Yum Kai soup with chicken which is delicious!! And the Pad Thai is one of the best I've had. They also have great cashew nut chicken. I don't think you can go wrong with anything at this restaurant. But the main reason for me to give them five stars is their customer service. We always go on Sundays for lunch and there's these two guys who always help us and they are amazing! Went here for my brother's birthday dinner. We had 24 adults and children in our party. Good: pork ribs, pad thai, chicken and potato curry. Wait staff was friendly and refilled sodas and waters for our group. Cons: limited parking spaces in front, only 2 bathrooms (1 for females, 1 for guys- sucks when there's a large group as we had).
